The outstanding location of Hotel Torre di Cala Piccola is what makes it incredible. From swimming in the private cove to having cocktails while watching the sunset, to the staff anticipating and providing for our every need. We had a wonderful stay.

The location is beautiful, however, we encountered a few issues during our stay. There were a significant number of ants outside our room, which impacted our comfort. Additionally, every night until around 1:00 am, there was considerable noise from chairs being moved in the restaurant upstairs, which made it difficult to sleep. This noise would resume again around 6:30 am each morning, further disturbing our rest.

On Friday night at approximately 3:40 am, we were also woken by the sound of a woman crying and screaming for an extended period. It appeared she may have been a member of staff, which made the situation even more concerning.

Unfortunately, the management had an incorrect phone number on file for us, despite our contact details being correct in the original booking. As a result, we did not receive any communication or assistance during our stay. This issue was only acknowledged by the host on our final night.

Stunningly beautiful property. We enjoyed our time here it was very relaxing. It was our first time to a beach club in Italy so I can’t compare it but I thought it was amazing. Your options for dinner are the restaurant which is very expensive or room service. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the portions were tiny and very expensive. The next night we opted for the room service it was affordable, delicious and filling. The staff at this resort are extremely helpful and friendly. We would love to return one day.

This property is grossly overpriced for essentially being a glorified motel. Out of all the places we stayed on our 2 week trip in Europe across 7 accommodations this was by far the worst and worst value. The rooms are dingy, the AC does not get the room cold at night, the bed is hard and the bathrooms are absolute barebones... I came home after dinner the second night and there was no hot water in the shower, so I had to go shower in the community showers, absolutely outrageous. The ocean access is not private reserved chairs, as they claim, you just take a golf cart down and go grab a chair (which they still charge 45 euros for). I would say this hotel is probably a 200 euro a night hotel that charges a multiple of that, avoid it.

Despite all of this, the view of the ocean is beautiful from the bar / garden area, which is probably the only redeeming quality and does not nearly redeem everything else.

This hotel is incredibly special. The views from the rooms, pool, and bistrot are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The photos don't do it justice - it was breathtaking. The rooms are basic, but very clean and the bed comfy. The staff were absolutely wonderful - so helpful and truly committed to making sure you enjoyed your stay. I can't wait to go back!

Oh this was just heavenly! We chose a deluxe sea view room and had the most beautiful view from our balcony. The room was small, but we did not need any more for the two of us. It was clean and smelled lovely. The bathroom was spacious, but the actual shower did not have much for elbow space (not the shower pictured in the website). Each and every employee we encountered was incredibly kind and helpful. We ate lunch at the outdoor dining in front of the tower; breathtaking views, convenient, but the food was not memorable. The included breakfast in the breakfast room was outstanding and full of choices. We spent an entire day down at the beach club (additional charge) perched on the rocks overlooking the crystal blue waters of the cove; there is also quick food and drinks there. Must do.

Way too overpriced for what you get

The setting of hotel is stunning - watching the sunset over the sea from the garden is absolutely amazing. Breakfast is good - a lot of options to choose from and the pool area is also nice on a hot day. They don't have umbrellas but you can find shade in the garden. It's relatively quiet and peaceful.

The rooms, on the other hand, are really outdated and definitely not what you should be paying this price for. While it should be an upscale resort, everything inside is very old and nothing seems to function properly - we had issues checking in because the tablet at the reception didn't work, the air conditioning didn't work, the printer didn't work, the wi-fi code didn't work, etc. We also had ants in our room and while in general that doesn't really bother us (it's nature after all :)), as a general rule, you should NOT have ants in a hotel with this price.

The restaurant at the hotel is ok but the location of the hotel itself makes it very difficult to get to any other place (especially at night when you have absolutely no lights and very steep and narrow roads) and if you are staying for more than a couple of days, dining at the hotel just gets very boring.

Also keep in mind that you will not be able to leave or come back to the hotel without a car and parking in Santo Stefano (or anywhere in Monte Argentario) is a nightmare. So if you just plan to stay at the hotel and relax, that's ok, but if you want to explore the area, it's not a good location for that.

The Highs: The view was absolutely stunning, the grounds were amazing and the pool was spectacular! We had a phenomenal experience and loved our stay. It was absolutely beautiful! We also loved all of the cats around the property and made a few new feline friends.

The staff were also very welcoming and lovely.

Things to keep in mind: The rooms are not very sound proof. Stay on a higher floor. We heard everything the people above us were doing.

Bring bug spray!!! We got bit up in the late afternoon/night.

The road to the hotel is very sketchy. If you are a nervous driver you might want to drive during the day first then see if you will at night.

Lastly, the only big downside was both the size of the shower and how quickly it ran out of hot water, but that is a trade off for the view.

One of the most beautiful locations I have ever been - very remote though, so if you are looking for a nearby town that is walkable, this is not the place for you. That said, the hotel has everything you could possibly want and more. The view is the best on the island and the service is incredible. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Beautiful location. Staff friendly. Food excellent. Only unfortunate downside was that the bed was literally the most uncomfortable thing I've ever experienced. I dont mind firm beds but this bed was like lying on a floor. We were extremely sore each morning when we woke up. Not sure what the story was or who made that decision about using those mattresses. But it was shocking how terrible the bed was. Room 52.

This is a really beautiful hotel, with incredible sweeping views down the mountain into the bay. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. The staff were lovely and the food/breakfast was so good. Our room was a perfect size for just us two and was totally spotless. So pleased we found this gem of a hotel. We didn't want to leave! We've already recommended to friends and family.

This is a beutiful hotel with amazing views, a lovely pool and great service. This was the perfect place to relax at the end of our trip to Italy. The only complaint I have is that the bed in our rooms was beyond firm. It was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in.

Beautiful spot on the cliff. A little hard to find but worth it once you arrive. Staff very friendly & helpful. Rooms are minimal but the views are gorgeous. Very peaceful, & quite. The beach is down the hill very rocky below but they have chairs, pads & umbrellas set up for you with a charge. The pool is amazing & a nice staff to help you with any needs. Food @ the restaurant was delicious & service impeccable. We will be back..

The hotel is really out of the way (which is fine), but they charge for everything - 10euros parking, 28 per person to use their beach, drinks are so expensive (17euros for 2!) hotel itself is nice, but just expect to add €€€€€ onto your stay.

Great location but we had a pretty average experience of the restaurant (of which you're largely captive) - vast prices, corn in average salad seemingly out of a tin, vegetarian main that should have been a side dish (€20), a 1980s-style breakfast etc. The newly refurbished room smelt caustic (above the kitchens we think) but no problem moving us. Decor a bit tired. That said, the staff were lovely and incredibly friendly, and very helpful and welcoming. Sounds like we're picky but we're not. It's a FABULOUS location, stunning views, lovely pool and deck, great sunset bar. Why shouldn't they trade on that, but it would begin to irk if you'd booked more than a night or two.

We booked one night expecting a lot of luxury given the price. The hotel was very mediocre, but the neighborhood was very nice. No cell reception in the room which was a big problem as we were expecting some important phone calls. The room was full of mosquitoes and was not very average given the four star rating. The private beach is very nice but you have to pay for everything, including parking and access to the beach.

The hotel was fine, but not good enough to justify the price. Also there were endless additional charges, eg for parking when there was nowhere else to leave the car; trying to upsell all the time, eg always recommending the most expensive wine; trying to keep us from spending money elsewhere, eg saying there was nowhere to eat on the beach when there was delicious grilled fish there at less than half the price of the hotel... Pool was too small for the number of people. Some of the staff were great but others were hopeless always answering back in English when anyone spoke to them in Italian, and other annoying traits.

On the plus side the grass area in front of the tower is stunning, amazing views.

Brilliant and stunning location

Very friendly and helpful staff. Being early in the season, the hotel was very quiet so we asked if there were any upgrades. We were given a larger room almost immediately at no extra cost. Rooms are clean and simply but tastefully decorated. Could have done with tea and coffee making facilities in the room and ideally some self catering facilities.

Alessandro (in the restaurant) gave us some good tips for places to visit. Saturnia being the best suggestion.

Location is isolated but absolutely stunning. No shops or restaurants close by so be prepared. Porto Santo Stefano is about 15mins away. Food in the restaurant is very good but on the high side. Car is essential.

Beach is not really worth the effort to get to. Small, just rocks and not much of a view. Certainly don't walk there - going down is not so bad, the walking up is a killer and we are pretty fit! If you do go, drive down.

Suitable for couples more so than families with children (of any age).

5 star prices but 2 star hotel.
Tiny basic rooms.
They charge €5 per device per day for WIFI that does not even work in your room.
TV was marginally bigger than my iPad. Was an old small computer monitor.
Impossible to find staff to get a drink.
Average food. Fake flowers everywhere.
Overall a bad experience. We left and found a beautiful hotel in Porto Ercole for half the price and twice the luxury. Will not be back.

Absolutely Fantastic

We accidentally came across this hotel and decided to book it anyways for a standard double room for just 1 day. We arrived at the check inn counter to be greeted by this two gorgeous friendly ladies, which is always a nice start and then it only got better. We were upgraded to a double room with a view, when I say a \"view\" i mean it. Rooms are extremely comfortable, spacious and clean. THE ONE OTHER THING HERE IS TO NOT MISS YOUR SUNDOWNER'S. They are just breath taking and the bartender is one gem of a guy. Great choice for a romantic getaway, absolutely love this place and will definitely visit again. Ciao :)

Can't beat views, service needs an upgrade

The hotel is in a beautiful location, if somewhat secluded, and has amazing views, so it's a lovely sight to wake up to and if you're looking for a place to lie by the pool (there is no beach here, it's up on a cliff, and at the bottom in the cove is a bar/restaurant where it looks like you can set up chairs in the summer), then this place is great. It is peaceful and the lifeguard was really nice. The rooms are clean, but sparse. The bathrooms look like they've been redone, but the hot water runs out quickly. Unfortunately, the service did not match what we received in the rest of Tuscany. The front desk folks seemed almost uninterested and were not very helpful in planning our stay. The restaurant food was ok, and the service was again lacking. Overall, the stay was fine but the service could use an upgrade.

Face the sea and bring your own chairs!

Our room had merely a view of the car park, which meant we totally missed the advantage of the hotel's glorious position on a headland overlooking the sea in 3 directions.

The room was sparsely furnished - not a single armchair or even a chair; and no desk you could sit down at.

Electrical plugs were virtually non-existent - we unplugged the TV to plug in an extension so as to recharge mobiles and i-pads (at least you are not charged for wi-fi, by the way).

We unplugged the TV also because it emitted a programme called Jazz/Fusion all day, not just in the rooms but also everywhere in the hotel - dining room, lounge, etc. If we turned it down, the staff seemed obliged to turn it up again. Thankfully it was not broadcast over the breakfast balcony!

We booked B&B. Breakfast is unremarkable by normal European standards - I have had better in lower-grade hotels. The evening meals are expensive, but very good quality.

All that said, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The staff were extremely helpful and the location is superb. The presence of the Costa Concordia hulk across the sea is rarely visible. I am not sure 4-star rating is appropriate, however. The Italian fault of style regardless of practical comfort is all too prevalent.
