Champex-Lac is a village located in the Valais, part of the municipality of Orsières, at 1,470 metres on the shore of Lac de Champex, in between the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif and the St Bernard Pass. The hotel is next to the center, the bus station and facing the lake.
Hiking and cycling paradise its also a ski resort. Martigny is reachable in 20, Verbier in 30 minutes.
Cozy and familiar Hotel runned by the same family since more than 115 years which features 2 restaurants (brasserie-pizzeria and traditional home-made food and exquisite gourmet) with terrace and garden. Tennis courts, lift, free car parking, children playroom, TV-Lounge with chimney and WiFi-internet connection in the whole building.
Spa area with sauna and whirlpool. The spacious, bright and comfortable rooms features ensuite bathroom with shower or bath and wc, cable- tv, direct phone and radio.

From motorway A9 take exit 22-Gd St-Bernard and continue on road 21 until Les Valettes. In summertime: turn slightly right direction Champex-Lac par les Valettes.
Arriving in Champex-Lac, the hotel is situated on the left side just at the beginning of the lake. In wintertime: continue direction Gd-St-Bernard and Champex-Lac at Orsières.
Arriving in the village follow the lakeside almost until the end. The hotel is on the right.
In public transports: take a train from Martigny to Sembrancher, change direction Orsières and from there a bus until Champex, Lac. The hotel is at 200 m on the right.

We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Motel, Fox Glacier. The room had everything we needed, was comfortable and close to all the local attractions. We stayed at Sunset Motor Lodge while visiting Fox Glacier. The location is excellent — right on the road to Lake Matheson and very close to Fox Glacier Guiding, which was ideal for our early morning trip. There’s also a great view of the mountains from the property, which was a real highlight.

Wow. The view was just like the picture. Loved it. And so close to everything. Just 5km to Lake Matheson, to the glacier walk start, 1km from the township. Peaceful, affordable. The room was well appointed. Shower lovely. We can’t fault it. Stay here, don’t stay in Franz Joseph.

Other reviews stated they had joy when dealing with managers and our payment had already gone through. We got out of there at 6.30am after a rough nights sleep and $184 lighter - an absolute rip off! How it can be left like this is very bad and possibly poses a health risk. What would have been a nice motel a few years back is not being maintained well at all. Tainted our stay in Fox particularly after two great nights in Franz and Hoki

The views from my room were magnificent. You could see the snow tipped mountains but there were also lots of misty fogs moving in and out, which provided a great visual. My room came with all the amenities, but it was not particularly clean. There were things under the bed and the carpet by the sliding glass door in the back was filthy. The water pressure in the shower is very faint. The staff was very nice and helpful, and all in all, it was worth the money.
