Room was lovely. We had a balcony view to the sea. The hotel is a mix of old and new. The restaurant was perfect for dinner. The front desk clerk was very accommodating and arranged a taxi for us to the airport. There are places to eat nearby and a big grocery store. Very nice place.

We had read the mixed reviews about the hotel and after staying there are more positives than negatives - good location , lovely pool area and sea terrace, helpful staff, comfortable bed , excellent housekeeping however the hotel does need some updating and parts need cleaning such as the lift windows and balcony furniture , more choices for eggs at breakfast would be nice . Overall we really enjoyed our stay

The staff are friendly, breakfast is great and the overall stay was pleasant.
The catch is, you have to pay 20 eu per person to access the ocean swimming area. This felt really scammy. If I had known before booking, our family of 4 might have styayed somewhere else since this raised our daily hotel cost 80 eu per day more than it should have been.

Booked Hotel Nettuno for a four day break, knowing we'd have a busy weekend prior our stay, we chose Nettuno because there was a pool. After checking in on the 7th Oct, we were told the pool closed for the season on Oct the 1st.
The rooms were clean albeit a bit dated, the shower cubicle was very small.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

The closest sandy beach was approx 1hour 30min walk

There is a small harbour where you can swim approx 15 min walk towards Catania, water is very clean and locals seemed friendly.

AC set at 77 degrees

Air conditioning advertised on Hotel.com. We arrived in the evening and the weather was warm and humid. The room AC was set at 25c. There was an option to adjust the temperature and you can hear the AC begin to make sounds that air was blowing after decreasing the temperature to 17. That sound of activity from the AC after lowering the thermostat would stop after 2 minutes. I kept trying to figure out how to keep the AC running but nothing worked. I finally got a hold of the receptionist at midnight because the room was uncomfortable and a repairman came to the room. He looked like he was attempting to adjust the thermostat. 2 minutes after he left the AC turned off again. Evidently the customer does not have control of the room temperature. The hotel sets the AC temperature in order to save money at the expense of the customer.

The staff at the front desk and restaurant were amazing and tried very hard to make our stay memorable. Our dissatisfaction with the hotel was that the air conditioning did not work and the pool was closed. We booked this hotel because of both these features. Our room was very nice but uncomfortable because of the temperature. The manager had a fan delivered to our room and that helped a bit but not enough. The restaurant food was amazing so that was a plus.

Absolutely avoid!
1. Both nights there was a party with a DJ playing extremely loud music well after midnight.
Regardless of the many calls to reception, nothing was done.
2. I was severely beaten by bed bugs (pictures). The hotel played stupid and asked me if I speak French. Avoid at all costs. I had to throw out my clothes and deal with bites all over my body. Absolutely disgusting

The pool and beach club were good.
The sea view room was good, but the room fixtures were dark and old fashioned.
There was no light on our balcony.
Toiletries were rarely replenished, unless you asked for more.
The breakfast was exactly the same every single day.....no change from lukewarm scrambled eggs every day.
There's no info in the hotel for people on holiday besides a leaflet for Etnaland. And we were given incorrect info about the local bus services (there's more than just the 534 service). It's 2miles to the cathedral....walkable, yes, but a long way when its very hot....
The area by the pool is used almost every night for parties which are noisy and continued after midnight on most occasions. This means rooms with a sea view are very noisy until very late.
For what it provided, this was a pretty expensive hotel that was really not what we'd expect from a 4* rating.

Pleasant hotel but some way from town centre

The Nettuno is a modern four star hotel catering for both business and holidays. We booked a superior room with balcony and sea view. The room, although not particularly large, felt spacious because of the balcony and sea view. It was clean and very well serviced The only downside was the absence of any comfortable chairs indeed there was only one desk chair and none on the balcony. Two requests for chairs came to nothing so the fair sized balcony was obviously only for standing on. Little things can sometimes mean a lot.

The hotel had an excellent swimming pool complete with lifeguard and was open from 10AM to 6.00PM. The breakfast was everything you would expect from this standard of hotel offering a full range of hot and cold breakfasts.

There are two negatives, both concerning location. I should have noticed when booking that the hotel is a good 30 minute walk from the station (and we walk quickly) and another ten from the historic town centre. Given the difficulty parking in the centre of town this is important. The other downside is that there are very few places to eat in the area other than paninerias - most are in the town centre (40 minutes walk away). The hotel does have its’ own restaurant.

If I was in Catania again would I stay here. Well maybe. The hotel itself is pretty decent and offered very good value but I might go for somewhere closer to the town centre.

Fabulous locatiin with free, offstreet, safe parking. Faces the beach (not swimming friendly, but beautiful) and close to airport..about 15 minutes driving through alot of roundabouts and crazy traffic. But worth it! Excellent breakfast with fresh aqueezed orange juice, espresso machine and tons of hot, cold and gluten free foods to choose from. Beds clean, huge rooms and nice staff. I was able to check in early for free and check out is 12! Thank you!

Very helpful staff good breakfast

We booked a deluxe sea view room which was on the third floor- the room size, bed and bathroom are very good, unfortunately as we went in April the air conditioning couldn't be switched on (we asked at reception ) until later in the year so was hot at night time. Also above our room on the fourth floor was an 'events room' which after the events had finished late at night and needed to be cleaned we had an hour of chairs/tables being dragged across the floor for an hour -not ideal at 11.30pm! Also we were told that the pool wouldn't be opening until June and the 'beach area' was being refurbished.
The staff were very nice and extremely helpful and the breakfast very good.

Good and clean, but noisy!

Good personal, veery clean (cleaned daily and thoroughly), excellent sea&town view,bad location-far from the center and bearing in mind the HORRIBLE public transport it was real problem to see or visit anything. Breakfast was good, the wi-fi was very bad, and the private beach was excellent. The room sound protection was average, regarding the inside noises, but a real noisy problem were the by-the-pool parties that were very loud and sometimes lasted till 12 P.M (i think that the management didn`t care for the guest comfort regarding this matter) and the near amusement park with it`s music(noises) and people screams which were so irritating(although the glass on the balcony door was more-less soundproof). The best thing was the next door Pasticceria Cioccolatto with the best non-diet :) things inside, including one of the best gelato I have eaten.

Hotel by busy main road and funfair

We stayed one night and had paid extra for balcony and sea view. This was view across very busy main road to sea so didn't use balcony. Funfair located one end of hotel. Noise reached maximum with wedding party having disco by outdoor pool which didn't end until midnight. Seal on balcony doors worn away so noise levels equivalent to radio located in room.

Hotel in delapidated state - carpets soiled and worn. Bathroom grouting blackened with age. Rooms clean, wooden floors in rooms fine, beds comfortable. Breakfast reasonably good. Did not think accommodation accorded with star rating. Overall, cannot recommend to others.

Staff were smiley and helpful but the hotel is next to a busy main road and the traffic noise is constant. Also in the empty lot next door there is a fun fair that is quite noisy. The beds are very hard but the room service is great and the whole hotel was relatively clean. Not suitable for very small children as there is no beach just straight to the sea.There is a great sunbathing area next to the sea and the lifeguards are good and do not let people hog all the sun beds.

The only good thing about this Hotel is the swimming pool. Think carefully before you decide if you want the following,
dirty water coming from the taps in your bathroom, staff who are indifferent to your welfare, dirty tablecloths every morning at breakfast, no tea /coffee making facilities in the room even though it is a\" superior\" room, terrible seating area for the outside \"bar\".
Nothing good here, just think carefully.

The hotel was a spritely half hor walk fromthecentre of the city affording good vierws of the Med en route. Many local ammenities and large choice of restaurants. The hotel was well maintained, although some wooden furniture in the room was slightly damaged. However, the communial areas were of a high standard includeing a tunnel under the road to a small private pier down to the sea staffed by the hotel. The hotel breakfast had many alternative, but variety did not change fromday to day. Tried one evening meal in the hotel, which was ok, but not imnspiring. Mainly lacked atmosphere in the evening restaurant as most people chose ot eat out.

All modes of transport available although taxis are particualry expensive in Sicily.
Using this hotel as a base we were able to visit many excitring places near and far with ease optimising travel between walking, trains, buses and taxis

Good Clean Hotel

When we arrived at Hotel Nettuno we were greeted by the staff and made to feel welcome.

We booked a room with a sea view, although there's no beach close by, the view was still fantastic, overlooking the ocean from the front, and Mount Etna from the rear.

Room was cleaned every day, by polite staff, breakfast was plain, but ample supplies.

there's a bus stop right outside hotel for trips into town, although it is a long walk if you don't want to use public transport.

Close by there's a pizza place, very good value, just got to go there after 8pm

A little theme park for the kids opens nightly around 6pm until late, with lots of side stalls and fast food outlets

Book a day visiting Mount Etna, a very informative guide arrived just after 9am and drove to the mountain, also had a few other stops on route

We stayed in November, so unfortunately the outdoor pool was not in use, but it looked clean and well kept

Overall I would give this hotel 5*

Highly recommended! Hotel was great, from the staff to the facilities. Location is ideal, great views of Mount Etna, right on the coast and a 5 minute drive from Catania Centro. If you fancy a change from your typical British 'Costa Del Sol' type holiday, this is the place.

Potentially good hotel spoiled by some issues

The location of the Nettuno is good and our room had a great sea view. The. Room was clean and everything worked but it was somewhat small with little space around the large bed.

The pool area is very nice but it is right next to the very busy coastal highway making it noisy.

Parking is a real issue at the hotel, there just are not enough spaces so parking the car was a constant hassle. I would not recommend this hotel if you are bringing a car.

The pool area is between the hotel and the street and all the sea view rooms directly overlook the pool. During our stay there were private functions around the pool every evening Including 2 nights of extremely loud music which went on till midnight or beyond. No sleep was possible at least on the sea view side of the hotel, it was like trying to sleep in a noisy nightclub.

Great hotel deserving 4stars, but constantly hosting bigger events, so parking space on the premises is always a challenge.
Acces to the sea by an underpass beneath the street leading to a patio located on the rocks. Hardly any nice bars or cafés within walking distance.

We really wanted to rate this hotel higher as it was friendly and fitted our requirements. However, the shower leaked badly and the hot water kept going off. The leak was never attended to and when reported their answer was \"We know we have a problem.\" The room was clean and swimming pool and sun deck well kept. Difficult to get a drink in the evening as staff were always attending to functions. Overall (for the price) good value, just could do better.

The hotel is about 2 miles from the train station and what a view you get if you get a sea view room. The hotel itself feels very modern and clean and the staff do their best to speak english and be as helpful as possible. The fridge and safe were of particular use to me. The balcony is very good for early morning rays and relaxing. The usual continental breakfast has bread/meats/cereals/yoghurts/fruit and an array of drinks. I loved every minute of my stay in catania. The public transport is the only downside to the city as the bus running past the hotel (534) seems non existant and there is only 1 bus there and back most days for the famous mount etna which was incredible and out of this world like! You can get the 457 alibus from the airport to the station and follow the coast to the hotel. There are amazing restaurants very close on the seafront just south of the hotel and a supermarket just behind the hotel. A taxi from the hotel to the station costs €15 but buses only cost €1 for 90 minutes.

The standards expected in Sicily are, unfortunately, not the same as Northern Europe. So, within that context the hotel was acceptable. This hotel has seen better days and is, primarily, a business hotel where the emphasis is on conferences etc. It's not really a holiday hotel although it does have a small pool. The brochure and internet boast of a degree of luxury which doesn't really exist and in general is utilitarian ie it's OK for a couple of nights which is what we had. Good points: the shower pressure is great (very important!) Poor points: rooms quite small, not enough parking space, could be cleaner and perhaps the reception staff could smile occasionally!

Hotel Nettuno was a very pleasant surprise. The service was excellent in every way -- desk folks, waiters, housekeeping. We loved the dining room and especially the wide-ranging breakfast. Meal prices are quite fair. Pool was large and lovely, with patio and bar right there. There is a shady verdant outdoor loggia for evening dining that was romantic and wonderful. Parking was free and very close by. We were able to access the Internet from the communal lobby computer -- a bit old but functional --- for free. Aside from pool, there is no exercise/fitness facility. Room overlooking pool had a sweet balcony. The sea is across a wide busy street, but easy to walk over to from a crosswalk nearby. There is a wide sidewalk promenade overlooking the rocky shore, perfect for vigorous morning walks or runs. A lot of the neighborhood folks and joggers use it. Absolutely no complaints about this gem.

If you just want to lie by a good pool in a basic but comfortable hotel this could be for you. If you enjoy eating out the hair raising taxi ride into Catania centre will set you back around 30 euros per day for one round trip. if just a long weekend could be worth it - any longer stay in town . Go for a sea view room - at a supplement but you do not want to be at the back of this hotel as there is a fun fair and supermarket. Bed and breakfast reasonably priced and good and as I was working the location not a problem as close to the convention centre. The beach patio was closed as off season but looks interesting but not inviting. Although close to the main road was quiet although poor internal sound insulation puts you at the mercy of the good manners of other guests -not always forthcoming. 50 pc of the time the reception staff friendly and helpful . All of the restaurant and bar personnel friendly, welcoming and efficient.

Catania is chaotic, dirty but authentic and the fish restaurants around the fish market are up there with the best. Avoid the tourist menus - avoid Syracuse but the lovely Taormina worth a day out by train if you have the time.

A great pool

The hotel was very nice, hotel staff was friendly and rooms were clean and had a good air conditioning. The best thing was big pool and poolarea. There was a quite big market right behind the hotel and few good restaurants near. The minus was that the hotel is quite far from citycentrum and sandy beaches. But the sea was near and the view from the hotel balcony was beautiful.

Sehr in die Jahre gekommen - die Bilder des Hotels entsprechen nicht mehr dem Ist-Zustand. Hatten zwei Deluxe-Zimmer mit Meerblick gebucht - bekamen ein Basic mit Ausblick auf den Supermarkt. Ein Basic-Zimmer kann man auf der Seite garnicht buchen - für einen Mehrpreis von 20€ Nacht/Zimmer wurde nachgebessert - Hotels.com sehr kulant. Pool nur bis 18:30 Uhr geöffnet - dieser Bereich wird dann jeden Abend für eine Veranstaltung genutzt. Das Frühstück ist keine 3,50€ wert - wir kauften uns Brot und Wurst im Supermarkt.

God beliggenhed og udsigt

Fint hotel med fin beliggenhed og god udsigt. Personalet i receptionen virkede let arrogante og nedladende. Poolen er kun åbent i et meget begrænset tidsrum, hvilket er meget ærgerligt. Morgenmaden er fin. Restauranten om aftenen laver god mad, men service og atmosfære er der ikke meget af. Dertil er det også halvdyrt.

Excellente escale

Bel hôtel, personnel très aimable, belle piscine, avec un patio privé sur la côte rocheuse vraiment très beau et très pratique pour se baigner dans l’eau turquoise de la mer. Plusieurs bars, chambres propres avec de jolies boiseries, du marbre, et un charme à la Sicilienne. Situé un peu loin du centre ville, mais avec cependant de très jolis endroits (rues, petit ports, coins baignade et restaurants) à proximité immédiate.

Pas de possibilité de régler la climatisation malgré plusieurs demandes. La clim reste à 25° ce qu’il n’y est pas possible pour dormir. Le personnel fait semblant de vouloir régler ce souci mais rien n’est fait. Sinon le reste était plutôt correct. L’accès direct à la mer n’était pas autorisé, il était fermé.

Man wirbt mit schönen Bilder von Pool und Stranddeck am Meer, aber alles hat nur ab Juni geöffnet. Die Webseite ist nur auf italienisch und ja, sicher haben wir das im Kleingedruckten übersehen. Das Hotel ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und wirkt sehr abgenutzt. Bis auf eine sehr bemühte freundliche Mitarbeiterin waren die anderen Mitarbeiter nicht gerade freundlich. Nach mehrfachen Beschwerden durften wir dann gnädigerweise trotzdem den Pool benutzen. Das Frühstück war ok, aber auch nicht mehr. Die Straße ist sehr laut und es finden häufig laute Veranstaltungen statt. Alles in allem war es diesen hohen Preis nicht wert. Von Catania sind wir sehr enttäuscht. alles ist sehr dreckig und runtergekommen. Man hat den Eindruck, dass nirgends investiert wird. Mal abgesehen von den drei öffentlichen Stränden kommt man sonst kaum ans Meer, da alles zugebaut ist. Da gibt es schönere Orte wie Ortigia und Taormina …

Très décevant, ne mérite pas 4 etoiles

Hotel délabré, style années 80 dans son jus. Des prises electriques qui ressortent, etat deplorable de la chambre et des couloirs, service agreable mais ne merite pas du tout 4 etoiles, 3 tout au plus. Cet hotel donne l impression d etre au bord du depot de bilan.
Piscine fermée, ce qui peut presque se comprendre un 29 avril mais ils pourraient au moins laisser des transats !
Secteur glauque, rien a faire ni voir dans avoir de voiture.
