The hotel is top notch. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink and an upgraded room. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The outdoor lounging areas were delightful - pool & spa area very clean and up to date. My daughter in law enjoyed a massage while there. She said it was fabulous! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay there!

Everything was lovely, except for our 5 hour boat ride we arranged with the hotel. The boat was having engine issues and was very slow. Because of this we visited no villages and stopped only at a village for lunch. Very disappointed.

My husband and I had an amazing stay here. The food was great, the staff was friendly, they offered us lots of snacks and plenty of water in our rooms, daily housekeeping, just all in all a great experience. We got married at Isola del Garda, just a 30 minute boat ride from the dock behind the hotel which was convenient. The asthetic of the property was very elegant, old money luxury. We loved the heated outdoor pool for when the sun was out, and we enjoyed the indoor spa and heated pool for when it rained. The only complaints I have is that the area isn't very walkable, and the taxis are insanely high priced. We had the hotel call us a taxi to go about 16 minutes up the street and back & paid 75€. Insane. Public transportation is the only thing that makes sense in Italy unless you're on a splurge.

The Grand Hotel Fasano is a nice hotel, with great views over the Lake and attentive staff.
This was overshadowed by events.
On day 5, the hotel was overwhelmed by American wedding parties – maybe 80 people. The peace of the hotel was shattered as the parties asserted their presence and demands.
Other guests came 2nd as bars were overrun, the terrace hosted noisy late-night parties and the kitchen was challenged. I noted at the time that my scallops tasted odd and my trout was only just warm when served.
By 11 pm I was very sick with diarrhea and vomiting all night. I suspected food poisoning. The noise from the wedding parties on the terrace below added to the misery.
My wife spoke to Hotel Guest Relations -HGR. They had no sympathy, noting that it was likely a bug (but other guests spoke about being ill); the hotel had served scallops for years and they had been ‘caught out’ by the wedding parties who booked individually; their behavior could not be controlled.
I remained ill. We spoke again with HGR as my condition was not being taken seriously. A doctor visiting other guests that morning, also saw me. The hotel agreed, without admission, to pay for the doctor.
On leaving, HGR suggested that I ‘brought the bug to the hotel with me’, noting that the diagnosis on my prescription (confidentiality?) was ‘acute gastroenteritis’. I explained the doc could not be sure of my sickness without a blood test but the results would not be ready before we left.
Unlikely to return.

The staff was terrific; property nice and room/balcony overlooking the lake nice. The indoor spa area was relaxing and unique. Breakfast was a great start to each of the four days we were there. The only thing we didn't like was double the price for the weekend nights, but I suppose that's to be expected.

The service 1st class and the facilities to die for.
The staff could not do enough for you especially the concierge and the bar and restaurant staff.
I ate in the fish restaurant and the Michelin star one and they were both amazing!!

Beautiful Older Hotel in Beautiful Lake Garda

This is a very special older hotel. The outside grounds are incredablely beautiful and the hotel is situated right on Lake Garda. Although well maintaned, there are some limitations such as regulation of room temperature. It was almost November when we were there, but it was still very warm and it was very difficult to get a room that was not too hot for us. This could have been a result of an older system and the air conditioning had been turned off for the session.

A luxurious hotel on Lake Garda

We did not know what to expect until we drove up to this magnificent hotel in the grand style. From the first encounter with the doorman, the amenable and helpful front desk, the amazing servers in the first class restaurant and the person who cleaned our room, we were made to feel special. We especially enjoyed learning the history of the hotel which dated back decades. Although we could have remained in our room enjoying the view, there were fascinating places within walking distance: the Botanical gardens and the house of the poet d'Allesio. We will definitely return and stay longer.

Honestly thought the hotel was perfect, my only complaint - you can get a omelette for free at breakfast but if you want to add a topping it's 6 euros extra. I thought that was shocking really as you'd be paying 6 euros for some cheese or mushrooms.

Great hotel in beautiful setting, unfortunately the service in the hotel was at best very slowly and at times non existant. The hotel was not cheap which is expected in a 5 star hotel but €6.50 for a bottle of water than could be bought in a supermarket for 25 cents is a little over the top!!

The hotel is beautifully located on Lake Garda. The facilities (indoor & outdoor pool, spa , sauna, gym, hot tubs, etc.) are very well maintained and the dining is very good. Best breakfast of any hotel we have stayed at in recent memory. The staff is very well trained and consistently helpful. The prices are quite reasonable. getting around via car was easy in September, but in the July-August high season, it would be much slower. Going through d'Annuniza's home (within walking distance) is easily a half day visit, while driving to Mantua and visiting the Palazzo del Te and seeing Giuilio Romano's masterpieces is a priceless trip. There are many wonderful nearby restaurants to visit, while the nearby town of Salo will not disappoint the shoppers in your party.

Relaxing hotel with style

Beautiful hotel with wonderful views of the lake. Stayed for 4 days and it was our anniversary, would highly recommend the rooms overlooking the lake room 114. Spa is so relaxing and they have an in door and out door pool connected with a tunnel with lights which was very nice and unusual. The hotel has a sister restaurant but need a taxi to reach it which was hard to find, was well worth the visit, romantic, charming views to the lake, and the food from pizza, steak and fish was excellent. Fantastic for a relaxing romantic get away. Taxis are very few on this side and hard to find so book well in advance especially when returning to airport. The management and chef were very accommodating. Only fault may be they could open another restaurant within the hotel like their sister hotel as they have the views and clients wouldn't have to leave the hotel. I highly recommend for newly weds, couples of all ages and even families but you do need a car to get around. Can't wait for my return next year ( we are a couple in our early 50 s). 15 minute walk to jetty to visit other parts of the lake.

Fantastic Stay

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the hotel and paid for a standard double room with a view of Lake Garda and what a view it is was.

The staff were very helpful and assisted us when we needed a change of pillows (feather ones were supplied which my wife is allergic to) and when we needed help in finding a restaurant they even called the restaurant directly to get directions.

The facilities (spa/pool/sun bathing area) were first class and extremely clean and we managed to book up a couple of treatments at the spa for the following day.

The breakfast was superb with a mixture of a hot food menu and vast selection of fruit, breads, meats and cheeses available and all over looking the lake.

I can not comment on the other food as we ate out at the restaurants around Lake Garda and these were more value for money than eating in the hotel.

We drove from the UK via Switzerland which took about 12-13 hours and was a bit of a killer ( I would recommend a stop over somewhere) however the views of the mountains and valleys on route were amazing.

I would certainly recommend a car hire so you can see as much of Lake Garda as possible though there are buses (only saw 1 for the 3 days) and taxis available. There is also about 6 or 7 locations were boats go from one side of the lake to the other.

Make sure you take in the cable car at Malcesine and then go to the main village which is beautiful which restaurants and some great shops.

Set in an excellent location with superb views of the lake if you have a lake view room. The hotel is very geared up for German clientele so much so some staff do not even speak Italian. The Magnolia restaurant is OK quality but nothing outstanding. Gardens and spa area both superb. Very relaxing stay and wouldnot hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Standard rooms not really 5 Star

This was our first trip to Lake Garda and chose the hotel based on reviews.

As we were travelling as a family, we specifically asked for interconnected rooms which we didn't get. Both rooms also came with single beds - Fine for the kids but less pleasant for us.

The rooms were newly renovated with good decor. But they were extremely small. As a 5 star hotel, I would have also expected easy chairs in the room. We had one ottoman and a hard chair! Views were non-existent and the position was outside the service area of the hotel. So noisy in the morning. There were no kettle or ironing facilities either.

There is no Air Conditioning in the room so the rooms were warm even in the cool spring weather we had on our visit.

Almost all the staff were brilliant - very polite and helpful. However, there was one obnoxious senior waiter that took offence that we didn't know the correct names in Italian for items we were ordering and had great pleasure in always correcting us! I should put it down to culture/character. However, it was so annoying that my wife refused to go to the lounge to sit and order any refreshments.

This is a hotel to visit to mix with the privileged and wealthy - with just a hint of snobbery - Be aware - It may be something for you or not.

My final point is that if you are visiting Lake Garda for the first time, research the various towns on the Lake as they are culturally very different!

Stunningly beautiful!

This hotel is not cheap, but the service, decor and style, and the position right on the Lake, made it a wonderful treat. The room was not enormous, but had everything you could wish for, and an amazing terrace, so like having another room. It was a most fantastic introduction to the area! If you intend treating yourself or someone else, you won't regret it.

Nice hotel but not quite 5 star

We have just returned from 5 nights at the Grand Fasano and as it has no reviews yet I thought this would be helpful to others.

If you are looking for a break away from it all and a complete chill out then this is for you. The hotel is right on the lake with its own private garden and jetties from which you can dive straight into Lake Garda. There is a lovely swimming pool and a jacuzzi. The public areas inside the hotel are very nice and you can have breakfast and other meals on the patio looking over the lake. Breakfast was a buffet with a good selection plus an egg chef. We like to see a bit of the area so did not eat dinner at the hotel. This is the only downside really - the location. Fasano is a tiny village with nothing there and Gardone is a 15-20 minute walk down the hill by the side of a busy road - not what we were expecting. When you get to Gardone itself there is not a lot of choice of restaurants (5 or 6). The best one is right by the ferry called Wimmer. There isn't really much to do other than stroll around Gardone (takes about half an hour) however there are ferries which take you all around the lake so that is what I would recommend you do.

Our room at the hotel had a fantastic balcony with a lake view (make sure you get lake side or you will overlook the busy road). However the room itself was a bit tired looking and could do with a lick of paint to cheer it up. I would give it 4 stars rather than 5 as a result of this.
