First of all, the property is really beautiful and it was so nice just walking around the orange and lemon trees. It’s close to the things we wanted to do in Gaeta and I had no problem parking my suv there. The free breakfast is simple, but very nice, the girl working there made amazing cappuccinos! We came in off season so the pool was not open, but plan to return over the summer.

This is a beautiful property with easy access to historic gaeta and Formia. The staff and owners are very friendly and welcoming. There is a large pool for children and adults that is to be enjoyed when not able to access the beach. Breakfast offers a variety of cold and hot options along fresh fruit and locally baked goods. Rooms and bathrooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. I would highly recommend this property.

Parking was ample. Pool is beautiful with shallow and deeper parts and olive trees planted in the middle. Lounge chairs were easily available in September - not the most comfortable, but they were available which is different than many resorts. The property is filled with gorgeous plants, flowers and fruit trees everywhere. Really magical! The staff is low key but very friendly. The front desk staff were fabulous to have for advice on the area, taxi reservations, dinner help and selling us bus tickets.

Amazing all fish dinner on a platform on the ocean, romantic and peaceful. Beautiful big yard with fruit trees and two pools. Ok this was not what we expected. We expected to stay in the building shown on Expedia's website (the Grand Hotel). However we were relagated to the service building which does have four units on three floors. Unfortunately (I've had this experience before when booking with Expedia) it felt like we were given the backroom on the third floor. Upon opening the window our view was dumpsters. But to be fair in the distance were lemon and orange trees and a nice view of the sea. There was also an issue with no heat. The management told us that we were there on the shoulder season so the main facilities were closed (so was the heat). Go figure.

(Expedia intervened) -- They moved us to a lower unit and somehow with computerized thermostats cooked us at night. We could not easily manage the temperature in the room. The shower was so small (maybe 2.5 x 2.5 feet). Do not consider if your are larger person. You cannot bend over to wash your legs or feet.

The actual town is close by. Great boardwalk and many restaurant options. But be careful traveling on shoulder seasons. Almost all museums, art centers are closed.

Parking is at a distance from all buildings. Walkways are difficult with paving and suitcases.

A lovely hotel with a beautiful pool

The hotel is beautiful and the pool was the highlight of our stay (I wish the pool stayed open later). We had a large room with a private balcony which was quite nice. We definitely would have appreciated a bit of help with our luggage, particularly since the elevator stopped at the floor below our room, but other than that, we didn’t have any complaints.

We stayed one night only because we did not see many things to do around Gaeta on the internet. Yet, I wanted to be there for my birthday. It is a nice quiet town. There are some medieval buildings. Unfortunately, I programmed only one day there which I now regret.
I had a great time. The hotel is nice and I like the garden of orange trees . The staff was great and very helpful, I had a problem where I took the wrong bus. I called Simona and she saved the day. Thank you very much we had a great time.

Villa Irlanda is a jewel on the coast with an impressive garden and view of the Gulf of Gaeta; I was there many times twenty years ago, returning today as a stop and go on my journey to Amalfi Coast. The place is kept in proper conditions as it was, some (minor) defects remain: parking lots are still not paved, and the food at the restaurant not to the level I remembered, missing, probably due to the covid-19 the gorgeous buffet. Everything else is perfect.

The breakfast choice is very limited and if you want a drink or food you need to ask at the right time as service is only provided when someone is available. The grounds are lovely and the swimming pool is nice. The rooms are a bit bare and could do with a bit more attention being paid on them.

The hotel is no more than 3* property. No water provided in the rooms and no tea or coffee facilities. No bad value and the location is good close to the beach but if you want to go to Gaeta you will need to rent a car.

We had chosen a suite room, but found that the room was very outdated and had a narrow spiral staircase going up to the bedroom. We asked to change to a standard double room, which was great; then worked with Expedia to get the lower rate. The property overall is very beautiful, but now really near to Gaeta. The breakfast was very nice.

Stunning spot to relax

Stayed here for a break post five hectic days in rome, but loved it so much did not even bother to explore the local area. The site itself is stunn8ng with one of the best pools surrounded by trees ever been at, there is also a jetty though a tunnel to a platform where you can sit on loungers overlooking the sea. The rooms had good airconditioning but the bathroom needs updating, classical nature may be an issue here , the shower cubicle was tiny though water hot. Very clean. Staff lovely though feel at dinner there were not enough of them but made for a leisurely meal. We had the 35euro 4 course meal which was good and with wine from 10 euros excellent value. Overall had a superb stay. wifi was a bit hit and miss.

First the goods: grounds are beautiful, pool is very nice, platform on coast is nice, dinner was great, and breakfast good.
The bad: Most of the staff could not speak English, staff customer service was deplorable and acted like guests were an inconvenience. Now maybe this was just towards non-Italians...don’t know for sure. I could not recommend this hotel to Americans for this reason. Bed was a rock, actually it was a hard mattress thrown on a cot-like support structure! Shower was backed up, but they fixed it in a timely manner. Maids did a great job of cleaning. Hotel in the middle of no where on the coast between Gaeta and Formia. Bus was sporadic at best and taxis non existent. I wouldn’t stay here if plan was to be in Gaeta or Formia, actually I would not go back to Gaeta again. Pretty town, but not American friendly...very rude people abound.

One of the nicest places I've enjoyed, I could find no fault here, and I'm very particular and critical! Excellent price for the offering, that's for sure.

I had a lovely room with pretty outdoor space that was cool and inviting. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything I could possibly want.

The restaurant and terrace are nicely organized and simple, relaxing, clean and elegant, yet casual.

The breakfast buffet was perfect. Nicely presented with a good variety of simple but delicious cereals, breakfast meats and cheese, soft breads, a delicious lemon curd cake, coffee, juices, yogurt and fruits.

I'll definitely be coming back!

Beautiful bedrooms and the outdoor pool was a great hit with them all. The food was excellent as was the service. 10 out of 10 all round and we look forward to staying there again.

Amazing hotel - great for a stopover

The hotel is absolutely amazing. As a stop on our way from Venice to the Amalfi coast it was the perfect place to unwind. Gaeta itself does not have much to offer, but there are some small towns in the area that are worth visiting. Ideal for stopping 2-3 days in between larger cities. The hotel rooms have amazing views, the grounds are absolutely beautiful, and it has one of the most beautiful swimming pool areas I've seen.

We had to change rooms because of the shower flooding the bathroom. Reception was very helpful and moved us to a better and much larger room. The hotel is in the outskirts of Gaeta and you have to drive 10 to 15 minutes to the centre of Gaeta to find all the bars and restaurants. If you have not got a car there is a bus that stops outside the hotel gates. You can get lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant but it looked very formal and because we stayed out of season it was always empty. The breakfast provided was very good with lots of choice, however we could not find anywhere to buy a snack during the day. The hotel has beautiful grounds and the swimming pool is very large. I think the hotel is for special occasions and hosts many weddings during the summer. One big complaint we were chared eight euros for two cups of tea! glad we did not ask for champagne. The rooms are well serviced with regular cleaning and towel changes and are well stocked with toiletries. All the staff we met were very efficient and cheerful. There is no gym but you can borrow bikes from reception.

The setting is idillic and despite not being in a centre location it is not difficult to get to Gaeta's main hot spots. The pool is great, there are no ball games of any sort allowed at any time. Very relaxing. Sun beds available all the time, great breakfast however it doesn't get replenished promptly, plus side no extra charge for fancy coffees. Staff is friendly and attentive. Overall great experience.

Beautiful hotel location in the border between Gaeta y Formia; great facilities, extremely good room layout and size (for family of 4) two levels, 2 bathrooms. Execellent staff service.. this hotel and this region in Italy is a secret well hide.
The hotel offers direct access to the sea; but if you want sand beach, you can easily access public beach in Formia 500meters from the hotel.

Location was pretty good, just across the road from the beach and halfway between Gaeta & Formia.

Our room was good & well appointed with a decent sized bathroom. The grounds of the Hotel were well kept with hundred of lemon and orange trees.

I was annoyed that I had to pay for the use of a travel cot for our son. The breakfast was much less than I had expected! We had stayed so where the night before which cost far less the the breakfast was amazing...

On a while it wasn't a bad stay but never felt comfortable.

Unique and beautiful ambiance

This hotel is unique in that it is complex of buildings, villas really, surrounded by lovely gardens with fruit trees, and a large pool in the centre. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant is excellent, and we chose to eat there each night rather than in town (Gaeta) which is about 3 km away. We did not have a car, so relied on the local bus to reach the town. The bus service is cheap and frequent. This is really the only disadvantage of the hotel, ie distance from Gaeta, and the local environment is not particularly attractive (busy road, some light industry, no close beach), but the delightful hotel grounds make up for this. If you are looking for a restful time, with opportunities for local trips to the lovely town of Gaeta then I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel, beautiful gardens, buildings and pool area made for a wonderful time. Good location - cross the road for the beach and some local restaurants but a drive or taxi ride to the centres of Gaeta or Formia.
Buffet breakfast has enough variety. Lunch options are limited but good. Did not eat in main restaurant.

The Villa Irlanda has excellent facilities - however there was no price list available in the pool side bar and the staff did not know the prices - we felt we were overcharged for what we purchased and would not have purchased items from the bar if we had known in advance how much they would cost. However, leaving that aside, we enjoyed our stay - there are excellent restaurants in Gaeta but I recommend a car to get in and out.

Had a great stay. Little tricky getting there, as the GPS doesn't have the address location correct, but if you look you'll see the hotel and the sign. Place is very beautiful, lovely grounds and view of Gaeta. You will have to drive in to town, but parking was easy both at the hotel and in Gaeta.

Hotel grounds are stunning!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Villa Irlanda. We came here after a couple of days in Rome. We went at the end of September but the weather was still gorgeous (27 degrees). The grounds of the hotel are breath taking, with their very own gardens and a beautiful pool - of which we had a view of from our room, as well as the sea and mountains in the background. It is also very close to the beach (literally across the road) which is really handy. Saw of lot of people wind surfing and body boarding, very cool little town.

If you want to eat out I would suggest heading into Formia, all the bars and restaurants are a 15/20 minute walk away. There are ones nearer, just by the beach but they more for drinks, ice creams and light dinners.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and helped us with all of our requests. Also, I would recommend hiring a bike, its free from Villa Irlanda and a wonderful way to spend an hour cruising by the sea front.

Can't wait to come back!

Beach trip to complement Rome City Break

We chose this hotel as a 3 night beach stay to complement 4 days in Rome. 2 hours (pleasant) drive South of Rome. Good location close to beach at Formia and also close to Gaeta (about 10 mins by car or local bus). Hotel is set in lovely gardens with a very pleasant pool and fantastic views across the bay to Gaeta. We really enjoyed our stay here, but we would recommend that a car is probably a good idea to enjoy the local area to its fullest. There are many good restaurants and bars not too far away. The rooms were clean, cool, comfortable and spacious. The pool and gardens are well kept and maintained to a high standard. The breakfast has good choice, variety and quality. A stop-off at the castle village of Sermoneta is worth it on either the trip from/to Rome.

Perfect for out one-night lay over

last minute booking, the hotel was perfect for one night as we passed through town. Clean, cool room, firm comfy mattress. The setting is beautiful and the pool is perfect - we didn't try the restaurant, but the guy at reception directed us to somewhere local. Would definitely stay again.

It is not the fist time we have been there. Great option ! Just learnt about the hotel restaurant service. The word ??? Excellent food, great service ! Really a good place to stay or for relax or in the way to another city.

Loved it. Clean large room with fantastic bathroom and lovely decor and comfy bed with lovely soft sheets, happy helpful staff, gorgeous pool, good breakfast choices, lovely setting with fruit trees and plenty of areas to sit. I would go back tomorrow,

Nice relaxing holiday

Had a lovely week in Gaeta at Villa Irlanda. Positives - Clean and well maintained hotel and gardens; Nice simple breakfast; Very good friendly service - Room maids made extra touches to room for my daughter and pregnant wife to make them feel comfortable; The pool was great for relaxing around and good for my 3yo; The hotel surounds are fantastic with lemon, mandarin & olive trees everywhere plus the mountain backdrop is stunning. Negatives - The beach next to the hotel wasn't very clean and sand not too nice. Serapo beach on the other side of Gaeta is much nicer so we drove there each day (no problem:-)); If you don't have a car, it may be a little annoying to walk or take bus to either Gaeta or Formia for dinner; Although the room was nice, it would have been great to have a balcony to sit and read a book. Overall, a nice holiday and would recommend it.

Helpful Staff

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location, about 5-10mins drive into the main town. Lovely hotel, looks exactly like the pictures on the website. Good choice for breakfast. Would stay here again.

Poor service

We stayed at this hotel over Easter. The hotel itself was lovely and the rooms were very clean and service was ok when we got it. However as it was out of season the majority of the hotel facilities were only open certain hours. I didn't think it was worth the money because of this. In addition, there was a supplement of approx €24 per night for having a baby cot for a 9 month old which I though was ridiculous.

It was the pool that did it!

Beautiful site and outlook. Service superb. Large visually attractive outdoor pool - 35metres length, wide and attached children's pool - a delight in June with ample deck chairs and tables, fully serviced.

Breakfast served outside. Hotel set in its own grounds

Large free private car park. View from roof terrace spectacular. Sea and sand on other side of road, offering more memorable views of Gaeta and Formia

Only complaint - no restaurants nearby, but hotel restaurant fully compensates for this

Ground beautiful, rooms ok

The grounds were beautiful, pool was very nice. Room was fine but pretty basic. It was clean, but nothing fancy about the triple we were in in the 100 building.

Nice hotel in Gaeta

We have stayed here before several times. We love the location (on the gulf of Gaeta) and the hotel grounds are beautiful. Good restaurant and wonderful pool.

This is a summer hotel

This is very much a summer hotel. The bar was not open at all. The double bed was 2 singles pushed togetherThere were no tea making facilities in the room.No help was offered to get the luggage to the room, which was a considerable way.
Although the menu was limited the food was good and the receptionist was helpful.

Fabulous! Elegant, beautiful, almost from a by- gone era, it is so refined and exquisite. Orange, lime, olive trees and rose, pomegranate bushes made it fragrant and refreshing. The most bountiful breakfast (included) we had in all of Italy. I will return with everyone I know! A perfect respite from all the crowded cities and museums.

Italian Resort

Initially disappointed with assigned room, but in discussion with management other available choices only at ground level and would not have been an improvement. Yes we could see the sea from a side window and pool barely visible through trees. In comparison to that shown on website still feel bit let down. Staff service exemplary had trouble with hire car and they went out of their way to help in addition general service levels were exceptional. Swimming Pool and area fantastic. Its an Italian resort so local costs were far better than other areas travelled during holiday Florence/Rome/Sorrento locals very friendly and helpful, beautiful area of the country. We went to this area for break in sightseeing programme and totally served purpose allowing us to relax in peace and tranquility.
