Good price for the hotels location. Basic amenities. Breakfast was just ok- ours came with the room otherwise I would go out to eat for cheaper price and better coffee. Room was clean. No AC until June and there is a lovely terrace but our food was served in the lower level- maybe they move it upstairs for the summer. We did have to open the window to get air as it was warm- and got alot of city noise- but that’s just proximity to everybody.

Just don't call it a balcony

The Hotel Isabella is a lovely property in the best location possible for being in the center of Taormina. Convenient to all sights. However, we were disappointed in the room we were given. We reserved a room with a balcony for a five-night stay. We were assigned room 44 which they call a balcony and is no more than a protective railing. Not able to fit chairs to sit there. it can only fit one person at a time. We single filed onto to the ledge to look out. The room next door which does have a good-sized balcony (chairs and table), where the 2 sets of guests that stayed for approximately 2 days each, routinely enjoyed sitting out on their balcony and had a good laugh whenever we tried to go out there scraping against the exterior wall and the railing that they deem a balcony. The room below had a full terrace. We had a railing. We expected better considering we stayed 5 nights. In saying that, the staff were helpful and available and the breakfast buffet was ample.

Pleasant property in centre of Taormina . Staff very helpful and organised . Breakfast room was well stocked . We wanted a room with a balcony … which we got … with a view of the see . Unfortunately it was a shared balcony with other rooms on the first floor … which I don’t mind … but wasn’t explicit in the room description and came as a surprise . Toilet unfortunately was tiny with a toilet , bidet , sink and shower extremely close together . Not suitable for claustophobics !
But overall hotel was very convenient for two nights and had comfortable bed and quiet room .

Hotel location was the high point - on the Corsa Umberto and only metres from taxi drop off or bus transfers.
Welcoming staff on arrival set the tone. Old decor almost seemed to add a touch of class to the surroundings.
Everything literally on the doorstep of the Hotel. Shuttle service to Private Beach Club another highlight.

We booked tgis hotel and was put us in Hitel Villa Diodoro because they were remodeling. Villa Diodoro, the front staff was very rude and did not want to answer any of our questions, like what time is breakfast. When we arrived at our room there was a buzzing noise with a rattle (402). When we reported it to the front desk, they said it should stop at 9:30. They couldn't move us since they were full (which many rooms were not being used since rolling shutters were down all day and evening). The noise did not stop. Needless to say, we had a hard time sleeping. We finally talked to the front desk manager the next day, and he moved us to a different room. There was no compensation for the lack of sleep, not even an apology. The room floors are very dirty and need a good cleaning, the carpet in the hall needs to be replaced. The linens were torn. I am sure the hotel was nice in the 80's but has not been updated since. The breakfast was all processed food, from the meats to the pastries. They had an instant machine for coffee and juice like a cafeteria. The pool area was not open, the front desk told us it was dangerous. They had no shuttle to the bottom. The driveway was broken and unsafe to walk up. Basically, it needs a good overhaul. The view was spectacular. But many other choices for the price that we paid for supposedly a 4 start hotel that had a Michelin star 5 years ago. Very disappointed. Make sure you are actully staying at the hotel you booked

Had a wonderful week at the Hotel Isabella,the staff from reception to the cleaners were always friendly and cheerful.
The building could do with a bit of TLC but that had no effect on our holiday.Our room was at the front of the Hotel where it was always busy up til 1am but the room once the balcony doors were shut was well soundproofed.
The aircon worked very well and the two single beds arranged as a double was very comfy and gave a good nights sleep.
The breakfast was Buffet style and ample with the typical mix of fresh meats cheese fruit etc served on the roof terrace with a marvellous view of the coast.
We would definitely stay here again

We were told 20 minutes before arrival that the hotel was closed! And that we were transferred to hotel Diodoro. A nice hotel, but a long distance from where we had arranged to have transport. So we had to drag heavy luggage a very long way…and then walk up a hill to town! A terrible situation! Why did you allow us to book a closed hotel! A very very bad result which wasted an hour of our time and caused us to be very worried about how to get to the Diodoro and we were very tired…we are 68years old!!

Our stay at Hotel Isabella

Hotel Isabella is in a great location right in the main shopping area of Taormina. It is an old historic building, so don't expect the most modern amenities, but it has plenty of old world charm! As you would expect in an older building, the rooms are small but very nice. If you are driving - do not try to park at Hotel Isabella! We tried that, big mistake! There is paid parking at Lumbi just off the expressway. Free shuttles will transport you nearby and there is a short walk to the hotel.

They don't have air conditioning as of October--which is still hot is Taormina--so we were very hot in the room. The room was musty and the beds uncomfortable and even with the patio doors open, there was no air circulating. it was also more expensive than other hotels that are a bit higher up and a lot more comfortable an nice

This is my second and last time staying at the hotel Isabella
. The staff has no smiles they are not welcoming. You have to acknowledging them with Bongiorno. They are not helpful
They told me I had to ot and extra $50.00 per night for my second guest. They made me sign stating I pay the $50 per night when I signed it I wrote I like to speak to the manager never contacted us or followed up with us.
They gave us one towel no hot water very poor air conditioning, no iron Fuse kept blowing when using the hair dryer.
The only thing I can say was nice was location besides that I would book and other hotel.where they will treat you like family.
Been to Italy last six years in a row except Covid 2020
The hotel is outdated and dirty they only give you one roll of toilet paper .
Think I spent almost $1000 for four nights and it was horrible.

Excellent location unless you have luggage.
Town center is pedestrian only.
If you have luggage you either have to go down many stairs or walk 250 meters from the town gate, and there is no parking there. If you have a car you go to thee parking lot a half kilometer away and either walk uphill or take the parking shuttle or a taxi to the main gate, and lord help you if you can't carry it all in one trip.
The staffing is at too low a level and there are no porters. I would gladly pay 10 to 30 euro more if they had a porter and valet service, like many other hotels in town centers.
Rooftop deck for breakfast has outstanding views.
One desk clerk was helpful but the others were all surly or diffident.

This is my second time staying at hotel Isabella and it will be my last time.
The hotel front desk staff is not welcome or friendly no smiles or no Bongiorno's from them unless you greet them first. House keeping was very pleasant and friendly everyday.
I made a mistake on my my putting in for one person one night and two people the other nights. booking I had two separate booking because we added on a night to stay so it was two separate reservation
After the first night which was reserved for 2 people they put us in a single room with one towel no hot water and the Air condition was very poor.
The next day they said my reservation was for one person and I had to pay an additional $50.00 a night for a total $100.00. They told me if I didn't like it I could check out and I would not get refunded.
Very poor service when they made me sign the paper for the $100.00 payment I made a note I like to speak to the manger. She said he would contact me I never heard from them. When I asked why I was in a single room the first night when my reservation was for two and why I only had one towel in my room which was stained. Marco response was housekeeping made a mistake. No iron in the hotel had to send four items out to be pressed two shirts two pants cost me $60 euros
The bottom line is they lost a customer and I would give this hotel a 1 star.
The only 2 quality of this hotel the location & house keeping being pleasant and nice.

The location is great but the hotel is very tired and dated. I guess it’s ok for a 3 star. We booked a room with a balcony but ended up having to share a terrace with 2 other rooms. I was reading a book out there when a woman came out, started smoking and speaking loudly on the phone. Be careful to request a private terrace (even those are facing the street and have no dividers between rooms but they were better). Beds are two singles pushed together and there is no control over the air conditioning. Staff were really friendly and helpful and gave us a different room but they didn’t know anything about the opera. Breakfast is very basic and the coffee tastes like powdered packet coffee.

Hard to find. It is in the center of town but you can’t drive there. We weren’t aware of this before we arrived and wanted to check in before we parked our car. We drove around the back, got stuck on a narrow street, then a long walk to the hotel. Park in the Lumbo garage and take the free shuttle to the arch. It’s a short walk from there. Other than that, all good. Would stay there again.

We loved Taormina, Italy and the centrally located Hotel Isabella. The only bad thing about it was lack of parking. We had to park about a mile away and haul our luggage for about eight blocks uphill on a pedestrian-only street. But it was worth it as this small hotel was really special. It was right on the main street of beautiful Taormina and had an amazing rooftop deck where breakfast was served and we took our wine and appetizers in the evening. It even had a view of the ancient Greek amphitheater and many highlights of the city.

Most important was the excellent staff from the room cleaner, the breakfast staff and reception. Could not be any better. Most helpful. We found no tea making in the room, as in England, and, on request, immediately provided new kettle etc. Also helpful regarding travel information. Air-con was perfect too. Want to sleep at night pick a different hotel!

Great location, staff good but if you want to sleep at night you need to pick a hotel that has air conditioning that’s works as this one didn't. Moved rooms 3 times, final straw when AC failed and was given a fan! RUINED our stay at Taormina, lots of we will fix it but didn’t happen. Had to down grade from sea view to a classic room and still waiting for a refund. Couldn’t stay in the room during the day, spent more time at a friend’s hotel, their AC work! Don’t believe what you see on their website, the bath in the sea view room was a small shower, false advertising! Paid top dollar didn't get what we paid for!

The hotel is perfectly located right on the main drag of Taormina, Corso Umberto. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooftop terrace is a beautiful location for breakfast in the morning. The bathrooms are small and the overall hotel needs some updating, but then again, you're just there to sleep. The rooms and bathrooms are extremely clean and the fresh linens are wonderful. I'd advise to get a Superior Seaview Room as they tend to have slightly larger bathroom than the Classic rooms. Overall the stay was perfect. Compliments to the staff, especially Giulia, Marina, Filippo and Maria!

The person who received us was dismissive. I had mentioned that I would need hot water in the evening and whether there was a coffee machine or boiler. The person at the reception had mentioned that they do not provide either one. After reviewing how I was received at checkin , there suddenly was a boiler available for my room. The hotel is well located. The rooms a small. The bathroom is very small. The shower very very small & hard to bend down if you drop the soap. The room needed to be renovated.

Located in the heart of Taormina on the main tourist street. Ideal for restaurants bars and shopping. Quite close to main bus station for excursions to local places of interest such as Castelmola. Also quite close to cable car which takes you down to beach area and islabella. Came here to attend wedding which was a great experience.

My boyfriend and I travelled to Sicily for our anniversary, 4 days into our holiday we had to leave urgently due to personal reasons.

The hotel still charged us for the remaining 3 nights we were meant to stay and refused to make an exception and weren’t understanding at all.

I will never stay here again.

Walkable distance from the bus station which you can access to other region.

Love the location as it’s very convenient. It’s surrounded by all the little shops and close to many restaurants.

Biggest and significant complaint--we were there on May 25-27, weather was very warm (low-mid 80's) and NO AIR CONDITIONING. We were told that the hotel policy is not to turn on the AC until June 1. They should note on their website--UNACCEPTABLE.

Hotel Isabella is perfectly located on the Main Street near to everything but not noisy at all. Staff are all very friendly and helpful and basically all speak English. The breakfast is substantial and varied. Rooms are very clean and nice. We got a great deal here and it felt like better value than what we paid. Awesome stay!

The best feature is the breakfast terrace, with a great view of the harbour. With a cool breeze, breakfast is very enjoyable. The hotel is right on the main road without being noisy in the room. Soundproofing is well done. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful with information.

The room is snug without any chair. The balcony is a good place in the evening to relax. Here you find a couple of comfy chairs. Lighting in the bathroom could be brighter. The bathroom is of good size.

Overall a fine 3 star hotel.

Since we were not driving, the proximity to fine restaurants and to the bus station was appreciated. The small room had an old world charm but mattresses needed to be replaced.

We arrived in the middle of a busy holiday afternoon in Taormina. We could not reach the hotel by car. Finding parking was a challenge.The staff did everything possible to make the rest of our stay smooth. Their suggestion for a driver to go up to Mt Etna was fantastic. Location was great, rooms clean & quiet, full continental buffet breakfast.

this hotel was wonderful, so lovely. The room was clean and everything was working. It was on the main street so close to all the action. Staff is lovely and speak English and Spanish. There was free use of the private beach included with just a shuttle fee which was a nice surprise. Lots of advice and help provided. Breakfast was good and also included. The only major drawback was the lack of wifi in the rooms. Only on the terrace and foyer. If it provided it in the rooms i would stay again but without it i wouldnt pick this hotel again.

A good located hotel with character

With just a little investment in WIFI router in each floor the Hotel can be higher rated .

The staff at the hotel are very helpful and they attended to our small hiccup just after few minutes

Nice hotel pictures misrepresentative

The hotel was well situated for all the main sites. The staff were very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. However I was disappointed in the site pictures for this hotel as all the pictures showing views over Taormina were not taken from this hotel, as none of the rooms or restaurant had views like these. The pictures must have been taken from another hotel in the chain and as such the hotel was misrepresented.

Join the 21st century already

I know in-room Wifi was not promised,but every other hotel we stayed at in Sicily already made that upgrade. WiFi was only available in the lobby -a tiny, 4-chair vestibule - and in the outdoor rooftop garden. And even then it was slow, sporadic, hard to access and expired frequently. The hotel itself is charming and perfectly situated, but the lack of WiFi makes it impossible for people trying to combine business with pleasure. When even the gelato stand next door has WiFi, there's simply no excuse for Hotel Isabella to be so backwards. For this reason I could not recommend this hotel.

What a great disappointment

We arrived on a hot day to a sweltering room in the middle of summer. Air con didn't work. We complained to the night manager who basically said \"what can I do about it?\". After a restless, sleepless, uncomfortable night, we were not well rested, refreshed or happy. We complained to the day manager who said she would fix it. We went out for the day, arrived back late afternoon to rest, but still found a sweltering room. We went downstairs to complain to find someone else making the same complaint. Only because they had 5 rooms booked did the staff see fit to act on the matter finally (we obviously weren't important enough). They later promised it would be fixed in three hours (leading into the night), we proceeded to change accomodation. Only when we went to check out early did they begin to offer us any alternatives. For us, by then it was too late, unassisted by their scowling faces and the fact they didn't realise we understood every word they said to each other about us in Italian (although we pointed this out). We were still charged FULL PRICE for the night we stayed despite all of the above and them not providing an essential service, without which we would not have booked in the first place. Plus the wi-fi doesn't work in the room. We moved to the friendly, accommodating and air conditioned Villa Schuler just 3 mins down the road - cheaper, more spacious, better wifi, better views - we recommend there instead.

Fab hotel located in the centre of Taormina.

I went with my sister to this hotel which is located in the centre of Taormina, it is a delight and I would throroughly recommend. If you love amazing restaurants and shops, fashion and culture, people watching and being able to visit a range of excellent tourist attractions such as Mount Etna and all the amazing churches, theatres, villages etc etc. I could go on forever. It is really worth experiencing and I cannot find a negative to our weeks stay.

Can't beat the location and price!

Incredible location makes this place unbeatable for the price! It's a little older (what hotel isn't in Italy?) and while I can't say it was extremely comfortable or really elegant, it definitely served it's purpose which was a quiet hotel in a great location for an affordable price. The staff was great and always very helpful.

Central location

My 1st visit to Sicily with my mother and 2 daughters. The hotel is in a great location. Rooms were very clean, beds were very firm , but that suited me as I have a bad back. Although I knew the bathroom would be small(from previous reviews), I was still dismayed at the general layout, the shower cubicle was very narrow and you practically stepped out in to the bidet. A few hooks would have been useful to hang clothes on. Having said that, I was pleased to see that there was a mini fridge in the room for our water and a safe for our valuables. Our room overlooked the street and unfortunately building work was going on opposite us, obviously not the fault of the hotel My daughters room however had a balcony and overlooked rooftops to the sea. The breakfast was continental as stated, and after the 1st day , the food table was continuously replenished, enough choice for most. The jewel in the crown for this hotel were the staff, especially the receptionists. They were all very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They spoke excellent English, and kindly arranged an excursion for us with a local tour operator to Mount Etna. We had our own driver/guide, Alessandro, who was very knowledgeable and courteous. Lots of lovely restaurants, our personal favourite was La Cisterna del Moro. Food was fantastic and the waiters very helpful. The views across the bay from the terrace dining room were breathtaking. All in all a very enjoyable Sicilian experience.

Nice hotel, in a great location, once you understand that you cannot get close to it with a car. Balcony had a lovely rear view over village toward sea.

Good, except...

This was a great hotel (friendly service, right on the main strip), except for the large bug that may or may not have been a cockroach found in the washroom of both mine and my friend's room. Eek!

We booked the room while we are on piazza having a coffee. We had no idea what to expect. The room was everything and more. Great great location. Very clean. Staff was superb. They even held on to our bags the last day to allow us to go shopping and so on. Would return!!

If you are interested in Exploring Taormina...a perfect spot. The bed is hard...guess it is part of an Italian experience! The room was well prepared and maintained throughout the time at the hotel.the shuttle for the beach has a charge of 5 euros ...but worth it as you bask in the beauty of the sea. The hotel offers a standard breakfast...fresh pastries, ham, cheeses, fruit, yogurt...ask for an espresso otherwise you use a machine for your coffee.The best part is Niño and Julia who work the desk....they do all they can to assist and make the Isabella into at least a four star experience! It is a very reasonable cost for the room, breakfast and location...but if you are looking for luxury..you may want another spot. Taxi from Catania is about 90 euros...be sure to ask the taxi driver to carry your bag to the hotel...makes the arrival much more elegant...hope this helps!
