Dilapidated hotel in the slum. We were warned of pickpockets and a guard had to escort us to the hotel lobby. Used shampoo and bugs. Awful breakfast food. A horror show.

My stay there was quite eventful. The staffing went above and beyond what is expected, the whole time i was there. I lost my phone in a grab car and the staff jump right in and took control to try to get my phone back, the ladies at the front desk and office staff when totally out of there way to make me feel comfortable and safe. Heck even one of the staff actually showed me around the area and the sights. Thank you Hestor for going out of your way to show me around.

Bad: I have this feeling that I was given a downgrade because I booked online. Booked a de luxe room but it looks like their junior suite. It wasn't noise proof. I can hear people singing and shouting outside my room at night.

No parking, parking at front was unsafe, hotel building entrance is not clean and scary at night, but the hotel inside of the hotel is very clean, rooms are very clean, staffs are very friendly and accomodating, and helpful. Room linens are clean, shower is roomy and clean. Don't judge a book by its cover. Free food is good and delivered on time.

The rooms over all were nice/luxurious. A small bundle of hair left in the shower was missed by the cleaning staff. My fiance tried to get a second room key while I was sleeping but was refused...one key per room policy.

This is a great place to stay when you are in Quiapo. The rooms are larger than the other hotels close by and for about the same price. I stayed here before the pandemic too. As Quezon Blvd is quite noisy, the outside noise is not noticeable in the rooms. You will not be disappointed staying here !!

The staff was outstanding and friendly. The room was clean and the size and layout of the room allowed us to move freely without feeling cramped. I would definitely stay here again....this hotel gives more of the basic comforts and for less costs than more expensive places I stayed.

Overall I was pleased with my stay at the Sun Star. After some initial confusion about my reservation dates, Mr. Bala was extremely professional and courteous in expeditiously resolving the matter. Also, the young man who was assisting me in securing a grab driver was also quite helpful. However, two of the day shift front desk staff, Marj, and Mildred both could use some additional training in brushing up on their hospitality and interpersonal interaction skills. Not sure if it was just me they didn't like or what, but they displayed an air of indifference and dismissiveness towards me, which was very offputting. Besides that, my stay was great, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

The best stay with sun star very accessible to shop at divi... no need to ride a high taxi fare just a pedicab worth 20 pesos you can reach the shopping malls with a very very low price and the quality also good to compare.. i plan to comeback again at sun star soon on next vacation.. totally great stay✔👍👍👍

Stayed here with friends for a two-day board exam nearby (hotel was walking distance away from the testing center). The staff was very friendly and accommodating and let us have our requests of early breakfast and early checkout. The room itself is clean and cozy, although the bedsheets get dusty easily and the sliding door to the shower did not work. But otherwise the whole stay was mostly hassle-free, check-in and check-out were painless, which saved us from stress and allowed us to focus on the boards :)

No closets, No windows, No Dining Room

The biggest knock against this hotel is its location. It is located in a mass of people and traffic and I never felt comfortable walking around. And on my first day there they decided to do some remodeling with very volatile chemicals that were sucked up by the ventilation system. I became nauseous and demanded a new room on another floor. I got a new room but I never received the phone call from the manager that I requested. My negative rating is primarily based on these facts. However there were a few other surprises to note. One is that the rooms don't have closets. I didn't notice until I began to unpack. Another surprise is that there is no dining area. The free breakfast is delivered to your room and you have to call every day to ask for service to remove your plate and glass. My last surprise is that NONE of the non-smoking rooms have a window. So you are basically staying in a \"cave.\" All the rooms with windows are for smokers. On the plus side the rooms were modern and clean, the service was good, and the price was reasonable. But next time I will pay a little more for a better location.

We stayed here for 10 days on our honeymoon after cancelling a trip to Palawan after a travel warning.
Staff were friendly and helpful. They looked after our luggage after an early arrival, were prompt in organizing transport and were always courteous. Dining service has a reasonable range of foods and the breakfast menu is adequate.
Only negative was the floor cleanliness in the room. It did not seem to be washed each time we asked for room service. But that's probably common throughout a lot of SE Asia where people wear slippers indoors. Occasionally some towels did not materialize until a phone call was made.
Location is OK. Quiapo is a Muslim district but very busy. Taxis not keen to go there due to heavy traffic.

We booked for non smoking room 3 months ago when we went there they gave us a smoking room their excuse was because they ran out of room we ask them to clean our room they didn't change our duvet cover we have to call and ask them to replace the duvet cover.

But this hotel definatly stood out.
The manager even sent the gaurd after me to make sure the taxis did not overcharge me when leaving.
And she made sure he wrote down the taxi number.

Im so glad we found this little diamond in the rough. The local area isnt great but the hotel itself was faultless. Clean, accommodating, friendly and helpful staff and at very affordable prices. If I were coming to Manila again I would definitely go back.

This is not how you want to spend your vacation!!!

Bad service. We arrived early and we're asked to pay half price if we want an early check in. We took the offer, first they gave us a room without any windows (we booked one with city view) and the air-conditioning was really noisy so we asked to change room- they agreed. After we finally moved to an \"OK\" room the lady from the reception called to say she made a mistake and we need to pay the full amount because we booked the night from hotels.com. after an argument (because we already payed the amount she asked to begin with) she gave up and said that if we don't pay we want get the breakfasts we were told was included. Buttm line- don't go there!

Very nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff. However as backpackers we were immediately told by the taxi driver this was not a touristy area nor wasn't it relatively safe. So for this we barely left our room for two days. Wifi didn't work very well and there were a lot of things on the food menu that was unavailable.

Definitely the best hotel in the area. It's location is very convenient (very near to train stations and easily accessible by PUVs) and the hotel staff is very accommodating. The room was superb and very comfy. I'd stay in this hotel again, for sure!

Also, get their beef tapa for breakfast. One of the best tapas I've had!

Nice Hotel in a very busy area in Manila

A gem of a find in a very busy area near Quiapo Church. For a no frills kind of a guy like me, this hotel was perfect. I enjoyed a very comfortable room with a clean bathroom, fridge, kettle, flat panel tv, and strong in-room wifi, and a comfortable bed. I consider all these necessities. As for a nice added touch, since there is no dining area, you get in-room breakfasts arranged the night before and delivered at the time of your choosing (within reasonable times). You have choice of Filipino and Western style breakfasts. We enjoyed both, but had mostly Western as we brought our own pure maple syrup to enjoy our pancakes with. You get 2 complimentary bottles of water every day, and there is a supermarket within Isetann Mall beside the hotel where you can get other things you might need like food, more water, and toiletries. From the doorman, the front desk, room service, and the room cleaners, everyone was super friendly to us, and went out of the way to make sure we had everything we needed. I would change nothing about the outer appearance of the hotel, as it makes it easier to blend right in with the busy surroundings. Just moderate word of mouth marketing would help keep this one of the best kept secrets for hotel seekers in this area. Would definitely stay here again if my travels bring me back to this area.

The hotel policy and details is not consistent with online and actual check in. Where in the website of hotels.com it was indicated in their policy that children below 11 years old is free of stay when accompanied by the parents, but when we got to the hotel they are charging us for extra person because of my 11 year old son. They said that the room is only for 2 person. The staff is also unknowledgeable about the policy of their hotel. Also, the hotel has no parking so we look for pay parking within the area just to secure our car which cost us P630.00 for over night parking.It was so disgusting experience!

Recepção no terceiro andar. Só tem um elevador. Entrada bastante desnivelada. Situado na velha Manila, mais tradicional e perto de alguns mercados locais. Zona com muito trânsito. O meu quarto não tinha janelas. Muito espaçoso, confortável e sem barulho. Quartos com janela ficam sujeitos ao barulho intenso de uma cidade asiática com toda a gente a apitar constantemente. Pequeno almoço levado ao quarto. Muito fraco. Staff muito simpático.

治安もあまり良くなく歩く時は周りと地面に注意しながら歩かなければならないですがそのスリルが楽しめる方には最高です。
私は半年に一度は訪れてます。

J'ai eu le malheur de choisir une chambre avec fenêtre et même en étant au 6ème étage, on entendait les bruits de la rue. Quant à la climatisation, elle était vieille et bruyante.
En dehors de ce problème de bruit, je dirais que le petit déjeuner n'était pas terrible. Sinon, ça allait.

キアポ教会、伊勢丹が歩いて直ぐ近くにあり。又ホテル裏側の商店通りは活気があり、マンゴー大4個100ペソで購入、ホテルの冷蔵庫で冷やし食べた。肉厚で甘く最高の味だった。ホテルの前にはジプニーが多くマビニ、バクラランの移動は楽。
ホテルは新しく、受付、エレベータ、部屋と利便性があり。今回の料金なら、再度利用するつもり。

Nous avons eu une première chambre côté rue 2x4 voie ou karaoké, trafic et klaxons nous ont empêché de dormir. Nous avons demandé une autre chambre qui nous a été donné mais de niveau inférieur.
Le personnel est serviable et souriant. Le quartier très très bruyant, très sale et sans aucune activité y compris les restaurants à partir de 20 heures.
