The breakfast buffet was a little underwhelming but Ray came through for my wife who has a lot of food allergies. he went out of his way to make her breakfast delicious and satisfying. The location is really good, close to metro train station and lots of jeepny's close by if you want to go a short distance. Our room did not have any windows which was a suprise but it seemed clean enough and the shower got hot water quick! I would stay here again if I needed to be in this part of Manila.

The best hotel near Tondo

Excellent buffet breakfast, the kids love the kiddie pool. It is close to Deca Mall where the kids go everyday to the playhouse and come back to a quiet, comfortable, secure hotel. Hotel starr is easy to work with.

Staff were very attentive and polite. Room was okay, mattress was very firm and we had 2 baby cockroaches too. The shower flooded very easily as the drain seemed to actually be uphill of the floor, meaning not all of the water will ever drain. Very loud neighbours with children running around screaming, although this is not the fault of the hotel.

We liked the location. Close to T1 line and local attractions. The hotel is very run down and needs improvements.

The service in the restaurant was very unhelpful and very very slow and forgetting orders Also after sitting in the restaurant Nobody came to our table for one hour Then they only took my partners order and forgot me Then when her food arrived they just served me a bowl of rice and no main course I then told them you haven't taken my order yet ! I then ordered my main course of chicken n garlic rice This then took another twenty minutes and arrived with no garlic rice So this item came after ten more minutes The restaurant only had two other tables to look after So i think this is the worst hotel in Manila And would not recommend it to anyone

The location is really good, situated near terminals and there's a path going straight to LRT. My kids had fun and enjoyed the pool and I enjoyed the steam room too.
Free breakfast is just okay and basic.
The TV is just basic, no Smart apps, just basic channels,ang so we just didn't use it. The exhaust in the bathroom is pretty loud and noisy, so taking a shower is not that relaxing. No other switch to turn it off. Staff are polite and accomodating

A hotel with historical significance!

Location is central with direct access to public transport. Room is good sized. Mattress is too firm for me. Although towels are clean, I would kindly suggest to change to new ones as they look old. Pool is good sized and there is a service elevator to avoid the main lobby. There is a sauna room but I did not use this. Food is average for me. The staff is brilliant. They are all friendly, polite and very helpful. There is a casino on-site and entertainment in the evening. There is a supermarket across the street too. Parking for guest is available. I will stay again.

Fantastic value, nice pool and sauna. Rooms were good. Mattress a bit tough but okay. Breakfast in the morning was nice. Access to the LRT railway station directly from the platform. Hot water shower. Enjoyed my few nights here and would return. Staff professional and courteous.

Great staff, obviously run by a Chinese group as the menu is all Chinese food, which is very good 👍
On the down side was told they are putting me in a recently upgraded room, however the bathroom sink had had a big chunk off the side glued back on with mastic and the toilet seat won't stay up and no soft close, room 305, thats it, the rest was 😃👍

For the location in Manila, this is a nicer hotel than you expect. Room was on the small side with just a small window not over looking much. But the room was nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. Refrigerator was a little dingy but no biggie. Bathroom clean with a shower that was ok. Dinning had good food. Breakfast was not bad.

I really wanted to like this property but found it hard on a daily to do that!

Very few staff members were helpful or nice. The front desk and mister donuts were the absolute worst. No communication you need front desk to reset your pass to actually get into your room. Wifi pass lasts about 24 hours then expires o you need a new one and a pass to use the pool. All would have been ok if someone had actually told me this. Not one member did. Then to make it worse I actually reset my room pass to get access thinking it was a fault when it is part of their normal process. So I didn’t find out till the 3rd day that it needs to be done daily.
I asked for cocktails and it came with no alcohol which by the way would be otherwise called a mocktail…. And then they had pina colada on the menu but had no clue how to make one. Complete waste of money.
The pol has mould around the tiles at the steps. The plant boxes are literally weeds. Just very run down. So many people standing around but not a lot cleaning. Has major potential this hotel but feel management is lacking,

Good pool. Very bad location. Didn't have a good view from our room to see. We didn't get the room we book online we when we got there. Our sink was leaking that we had a puddle. Everything that said it was free online wasn't free in person we had to pay if we wanted an extra towel or laundry or anything else. Every day we had to change the wifi password. We had a very hard time sitting everyone to sit in our tiny little room.

Everything is a walking distance- grocery, school, church, lrt, jeepney, etc. The staff though are not very friendly save for some elevator people. They are too strict and too suspicious. I seldom see them smile like most Filipinos or like most people in the hospitality business. Their housekeeping didn’t even bother to wash the used glass and just returned it to the rack as if it it was already clean. Towels do not feel fresh nor do they smell like fresh. Aircon is unsightly and so dirty. TV is old. Internet is slow and you need to go down every 24 hours to ask for new passwords as they won’t give it to you over the phone.

Good clean room that was large enough to be comfortable for two people. Frig for drinks was nice. No hot water was a big negative!! And breakfast was awesome but expensive. The area around the hotel was very dirty and rundown it was not conducive to walking around and shopping. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Grand Opera hotel is located in a busy area of metro Manila. This is a good thing because you can either take taxi or easily ride the metro light rail. There are plenty of stores and shopping around - and plenty of restaurants nearby (Jolibee, KFC, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, etc).

There is a very convenient 7-11, Laundromat and grocery store directly across the street.

The room included a fridge and coffee pot. I bought a rice cooker to bring to the room so I could heat up soup/ noodles.

The Hotel itself is gorgeous. The main dining room and lobby is luxurious and there is a nice casino in the building as well. The pool was extremely comforting when the temperature rose.

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Everything I needed was taken care of by them. Service with a smile.

UNFORTUNATELY there are problems with the Grand Opera's rooms which I feel can be addressed easily.

#1 My room only had two sockets. One near the bed and one for the coffee pot. You will definitely need to buy EXTENSION CORDS if you plan on connecting a laptop or any USB devices. I needed 3 extension cords in total.

#2 The bathroom and bedroom had no place to hang wet/drying clothes. There was a cabinet space for hanging dry clothes, but no place to hang swimsuits -for example. I recommend the hotel put some form of clothing line or rack in the bathroom.

There was also no drawer space. Hotels usually have some drawer to put basic items away.

Feedback on services and qualities

1) Hotel Staff doesn't have much customer services especially door entrance staff. Guest holding lots of stuff yet none of the hotel staff willing to help open the door yet require the security guards to open on behalf.
2) What are the difference between bringing outside ordered and home cooked food into hotel? All are still considered as outside food isn't it?
3) There isn't any water heater supply for shower.
4) Hotel should upgrade their air-con systems which are not noisy types.
5) TV should be placed in the middle of the room and not on the side of the wall.
6) There isn't any 24/7 standby for food order. Lots of food not available during the night or midnight period.
7) Wifi passwords should be fixed and shared within the hotel guest during the stays and not on daily basics. Open Free Wifi may attract more guests to visit the hotel often.
