We have stayed at this hotel consistently over the last 15 years until recently. We returned after a 3 year hiatus to find what was once a charming hotel was now a sad shadow of itself. The doors, elevator, walls were chipped up and dented but now covered with a coat of paint. We arrived on a humid day. The humidity and the dirty carpeting in the dining room caused the dining room to smell terrible.... really terrible. We saw guests asking to eat outside. Our bathroom ceiling was partially collapsing showing obvious black mold that had been painted over. The tile floor in our room was slippery with who knows what. The shower curtain showed dirty handprints.
After check in we went to the car to get our bags to find the front desk staff lounging on the lobby couches.
We reported the condition of our room to the front desk staff who promised that nobody else has ever complained about the conditions of the hotel. I don't believe it for a second. Don't stay on room 212.
We paid $166/ night for this room.

This historical hotel, Natural Bridge Hotel, was so nice! The rooms were big. Bed was comfortable and the room was nice, clean, and quiet. Hotel is only 5 to 10 minutes from the interstate and from a winery/brewery. The view from our window was beautiful of the mountains. We ate at the restaurant/bar for our dinner. The food was great. The breakfast the next morning was very nice. We will definitely stay here again.

Reception was ok. On entering the room I could smell dog. A few minutes later my wife stood a piece of kibble. Told reception,in fairness they offered a room change but had already unpacked and was only there one night. Went for a drink at the bar in the evening. Staff didn't really seem interested in serving. When the bill came they'd charged for the costliest pino rather than the one my wife pointed out . Took $100 incidentals on arrival. Assured it would be repaid on departure. It wasn't.
Comfortable bed, good shower.
Wouldn't go back.

Historic hotel that offers charm but is need of some updates. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly. The common areas are definitely showing their age and it's a shame an investment hasn't been made in returning this hotel to its grander days. But the room rate was very good--especially when hotels a few miles up the road in Lexington were asking $200 or more per night.

May daughter and I stayed here for a night as we were traveling. The room was adequate, nothing fancy, but it had working AC and a mini fridge. The standout for the lication was the staff (super helpful, able to answer questions, etc.) and the location (walk to the state park? Sign me up!). Breakfast was fine, though it seemed a little pricey for an average buffet with no a la carte menu). Overall a good stat though!

The hotel is historic and beautiful. The family that runs it is friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is decent and on site. We rented a suite and it was very spacious. The kitchen cabinets were empty and we couldn’t get wine glasses from the restaurant to enjoy the bottle of wine we brought to have with dinner from the restaurant that we ate in our room. There is no pool which would be nice at a resort as big as that.

Amazing location of the property. BUT
Room housekeeping was poor, furniture was dusty, bed linens was old, bathroom conditions were really poor. Not maintained at all.
Although the view from the room balcony was amazing.
I gave a verbal feedback to the front desk on check out- but the associate was not willing to accept the room feedback. Says she personally inspected the room the day before my check in and it was clean !!!
Had a very negative attitude and I think every organization should be willing to take the negative and positive feedbacks to improve their business.

Historical does not equal run down and that’s what we experienced unfortunately. In addition, the popcorn they popped daily made the place smell and someone spilled in the elevator…in the 3 days we spent there it was never picked up by staff. Everything felt like the staff just did not care. However, I will say the beds were comfortable and I slept very well each night, the showers, heating and cooling in the rooms all very comfortable as well.

This hotel was uniquely beautiful. We loved all of the character and history inside. I was a bit nervous from the not perfect reviews, but my family of 6 enjoyed our one night here. We had a one bedroom suite with two bathrooms, two queen beds, and a sofa bed. It was a large suite and we definitely loved having two showers. The beds were just okay, but overall we were happy with the stay. We’d return! Definitely recommend the Safari drive through that’s nearby, it was a blast! The restaurant has horrible reviews so we didn’t go there, there’s nothing else nearby to eat except a diner with bad reviews lol, so pack breakfast or wait to go somewhere else.

This could be a great hotel, but they have just kind of let it go. There was a water leak in the historical area and instead of cleaning up the water they just put down a sign that said \"caution wet floor\". The restaurant and bar area closed early so dont plan on getting any food or drink after 930 pm unless you get a higher priced drink from the gift shop. The staff was friendly but did not notify me that they were placing a \"hold\" on my credit card for incidentals or the amount that would be held, which was also kind of hilarious because there is nothing in the room to purchase so why place a hold which actuallyturned out to be a charge that had to be credited back? I paid for the room directly through Hotels.com so the fact that they put a charge at all that I have to now wait to be credited back to my card will keep me from ever coming back. Also if you decide to stay an additional night do not ask to extend your stay at the front deck, they will up charge you. When I checked in I heard them quote a couple $235 for an additional night for the night i was staying, and I booked my room for $112 on Hotels.com about 35 mins before. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable for the price I paid, but based on overall condition of the property and a lack of communication of charges to my credit card, I give then about a 6 out of 10.. Like I said, I will not choose this hotel again.

We stayed at the Natural Bridge hotel seal years ago and enjoyed our stay. This time was such a disappointment that we will not go back again. The sheets were either dirty or stained. When i moved the night stand to plug my phone into the outlet, it was disgustingly dirty. The restaurant was a huge disappointment. The table had not been cleared yet from the previous patron, which was not a big deal until the server came over to clear it off. The server picked up the used glasses and then with her dirty hand from the used glasses picked up an unused glass and then put it back down on the table for us. Yuck! We had to ask her to replace it. I ordered shrimp tacos which came with 2 small shrimp in each taco, a barely a drizzle of some sort of sauce and a souffle cup with a relish for you to add to your tacos. Not worth the money. My spouse had wings and a salad. A couple of the wings were cold inside (not cooked to temp) and a small house salad. The drinks were inconsistent as well. It is a shame, the historic hotel is beautiful in structure but it is not being maintained for quality.

That said, I do think the hotel can be a little cleaner. The pillow cases are aged, a bit yellowish, and washed thin. One can easily see through them. Same is the flat sheet under the comforter. And there are no duvet cover.

The kitchen's exhaust fans are not effective. In the morning, the cooking smells fill the halls. It is not pleasant food smell.

Pros: the beds are comfortable.
Cons: The breakfast is overpriced for one with very limited choice. I guess it is because the customers don’t have much choice near the area. I would recommend sleep in nearby small town over this historical hotel. Historical means history and also old if not well maintained. The overall building is outdated. The air conditioning in our room needs a filter change, the bathroom is old, bathtub pealed off and hot water is just warm. The night shift staff is not very welcoming.
