For the uptick in price because of the Christmas holiday $1000 per night it was a mediocre experience. The tub didn't have enough hot water, I smelled bacon in my room on the 3rd floor from the kitchen, the gym mirror were dirty in the same spots 2 days in a row. High tea wasn't great and i wish i had it at the Ritz, where i came from. The omakase was just ok. I had better outside of the hotel. The hotel seems under staffed and the staff wasn't very trained in high end hospitality. I wouldn't pay $1000 to stay here.

Beautiful hotel with incredible service. Rooms are spotless and well appointed. Every employee is attentive, helpful and incredibly dedicated to making your stay exceptional. Location is quiet with beautiful grounds yet close to many temples and everything the old part of Kyoto has to offer.

The Four Seasons kyoto is an exceptional, brand-new hotel that exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, everything felt pristine and thoughtfully designed.

The rooms are gorgeous—spacious, elegant, and incredibly comfortable, with an attention to detail that truly sets this property apart. Cleanliness is impeccable throughout the hotel.

Breakfast was outstanding—fresh, beautifully presented, and one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had in Japan.

The ofuro in the spa is divine—a serene, deeply relaxing experience and the perfect way to unwind after exploring the beautiful garden with beautiful shrine and koi fish.

We genuinely loved every second of our stay. Four Seasons kyoto has raised the bar and is now one of our favorite hotels anywhere. We cannot wait to return.

We had an exceptional experience. From the moment we set foot on the property we received a warm welcome & the service felt customized and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us . I could not have asked for better service and accommodations (okay breakfast was okay- not great). Amazing spa and fitness facility. Amazing views of the garden. When it snowed it was like a winter wonderland. My friends and I were blown away by how incredibly nice the hotel was and how much nicer the employees were. This place is EXPENSIVE, but with every penny. I will be back.

We had an amazing stay at the Four Seasons. We traveled with our 13 month old toddler and everybody was more than accommodating to his needs, which was very appreciated by us!
The grounds are immaculate and so serene, it is a beautiful place! The rooms are spacious and modern, with everything you might need available while there.
Highly recommend to stay there when visiting Kyoto!

Considering what this hotel costs, it’s a bit charmless, with miles long dim hallways and an utterly confusing system of elevators and entrances. The room, however, was great, the housekeeping staff very polite, and the restaurants fine, especially the buffet breakfast.

One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed at. Our room was garden view and the most comfortable ever. The garden pond and tea house that we looked out on was both beautiful and relaxing. Everything is immaculate and the staff is helpful, warm and welcoming. In the spa I had an excellent massage and the food there is top notch. The room service staff and manager Maggie Ling were wonderful. Within easy walking distance to Temples and Museums. The Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto was a highlight of our trip to Japan.

Four Seasons Kyoto is perhaps the most enjoyable hotel experience I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve stayed in fancier places, but nothing with such kind and helpful staff. The concierge was endlessly helpful in getting us to the trains we needed to take for our day trips. Almost everyday there was some fun and special gift waiting for us in our rooms when we returned. The room was cleaned for us multiple times per day. The facility is superb. The rooms are amazingly beautiful. Ours had a more “average” view of the beautiful bamboo grove next door. The steam room, gym, and baths are wonderful and lifegiving. If I had to nitpick I would say the pool is strange. It’s like it’s in a cave. Beautiful but without sunlight. The restaurant is a bit overpriced. I mean, $15 for a cup of coffee? Also the music in the hotel lobbies and such is lame. Typical elevator music. But that’s about all. Truly a beautiful hotel.

Tip: come during the low season! We got a room for $700/night in mid January which is significantly cheaper than other times in the year.

Everything is wonderful except-avoid room service

Each and every day of our eight day stay room service was not up to standard of a fine hotel. The orders were late and always always with issues. When items were forgotten the “re-do” would be met with a verbal apology but would still be incorrect when the arrived again. I called the main reception and let them know of all the specifics. Again, more pleasant apologies but no action or discount for the missing items upon the check out. It’s all about the way of handling issues. So overall the service was just ok.

I really had more expectations for this property, The building is amazing! nestled in stunning Japanese landscapes.

Fist of all , I want to mention , that I contact the hotel 3 weeks earlier to make reservation for 3 restaurants during my stay , and for booking a spanish city tour in Kyoto. I spoke with Yuki, very nice man , who told me to send the information by mail and he will answer \"As soon as possible\"

Immediately when I send the mail , I receive a response from the concierge department mentioning they are busy and will receive an answer within the next 44 hours, however 4 day passed with any notice.

I called back to the hotel , and told , I will get an answer soon.

I received an email from the concierge confirming the reservations, including restaurants and tours,

I called again to re- confirm everything, and told by Nao, and Francisca, that everything was arranged according to my mail and everything was confirmed.

It was very disappointing to arrive to my first reserved restaurant and noted that it was closed till next month. (Did I mention We are from México travelled 15 hours , with my 92 year old mother?).

When I calmed the concierge hostess she mention that an E-mail was sent to me explaining the situation , and they were very sorry.

They ask for my itinerary to make sure my other reservations were confirmed, unfortunately, they lost our printed itinerary.

It was not the service, professionalism, and formalism we expected.

The physical property was fine. My room faced a wall covered with foliage. A cab ride was required to get to anything. I think this is very overpriced relative to the other Japan hotels I stayed at - $19 for a cup of coffee, $350 for one person sushi meal of no great distinction, and so on.

6 nights at Four Seasons Kyoto

The location was beautiful, quiet and private - the room was spacious and peaceful with a very adequate balcony with seating for 2. Walking or taxi rides will take you to major sights. If you are comfortable with trains and subways, then you can get everywhere. We used taxis, and traveling across town was only $28 one way. Across the street was a small special Italian restaurant - Il Pappalardo. Some of the best Italian food and fresh fish we have had anywhere.

Excellent hospitality. The fantastic staff and concierge answers all our questions patiently and help us make a reservation at a 3 star Michelin restaurant. The food from room service, to the breakfast at Brasserie and Sushi Wakon which was inside the hotel was simply amazing well worth the Michelin one star. The room was clean. Attention to details, the housekeeping staff saw my wife smeared glasses at the vanity counter and left a lenses cleaning cloth. This property was simply amazing and beautiful. We will definitely be back.

My favorite FS property to date. Getting to the hotel from Kyoto station was very easy. I just grabbed a cab and at the station and driver knew how to get there. The hotel is beautiful and although we paid an extra premium price for the Autumn season it was worth it. Rooms are beautiful, staff had excellent recommendations for sightseeing, breakfast buffet was perfect with local and Western options, and spa was great to relax in after sightseeing. Pick this hotel--you won't regret it.

You MUST stay here!

This is probably the best hotel experience we have had, ever. The hotel, the pool and fitness facilities, the garden, it is all stunning. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful. Don't miss the Maiko performance on Sat/Sun evenings or the Teahouse. An absolutely beautiful hotel.

This hotel is okay but definitely not a 5 star experience. I was disappointed in the look and size of my room for the price. Room service always forgot a crucial part of my order and the food wasn't great. They also don't have movies on demand, or dvds and they have about 5 local channels only which is weird for a 5 star chain. I had a great massage and soak at the spa but I wouldn't stay at this location again, it's not worth the price.

Four Seasons Kyoto was truly a pleasant experience from check-in to departure. I’ve stayed at Four Seasons around the world and this property lives up to the FS standard. The only negative critique I have would be for the restaurant. The Brassierie fell a bit short on several dishes. To be completely fair, it was a hit or a miss.....some dishes were excellent but others were just OK. Another minor complaint would be the pool service. When traveling, I enjoy beverage service by the pool and this is not provided at this property mainly because there’s no lifeguard on duty. Although I’ve been to other properties where no lifeguard is present and pool service (food & beverage) is provided. The grounds are amazing and feels like a traditional Japanese garden.

WONDERFUL STAY IN KYOTO!!

We loved every minute of our stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Kyoto! The staff was gracious, welcoming and so helpful with making recommendations and reservations at wonderful restaurants. They even surprised my husband with a very personalized birthday treat and signed card. Our visit was truly memorable!

I have stayed at a lot of hotels and the attention to detail and the design and decor of the building is top top notch. The staff was great and we are already planning our trip back and will only stay here in Kyoto
