This hotel is nice has a nice inside the rooms are very lovely but my real issue was the cleaning of the room I mean it was a cleaning done like in 2 mins and barely done I left trash all nice and together for them to take make it a little easier then leaving things around and they didn’t take it bathroom was almost never cleaned but other than that everything else was fine free laundry room close to bus station to take you around Kyoto it just needs a better job at cleaning

Modern hotel in proximity to Kyoto historic centre

Kyotology offers a very clean, modern stay with excellent facilities. As a semi-automated hotel, staff presence is limited, but the check-in process is smooth and efficient. The hotel is located about 15–20 minutes from the centre of Kyoto, making it convenient while still in a quieter area. A great choice if you value modern design, cleanliness, and a more independent style of stay, and if you don’t mind walking around and using public transport.

This was a gem of a find! For a minute there I had some regrets staying further out from Kyoto Tower area, but the commute was easy. It's next to a few metro and bus station stops, and there's plenty of Luup e-bikes and scooters to rent. I highly recommend this as biking around Kyoto was one of the highlights of my trip. Just be sure to set up your account before you go e-sim only. Anyways, back to the hotel. It was super spacious (i did w/bathtub), not only for Japan, but in general, and clean. Perfect for my 6 day stay. I've had problems with noisy hotels lately, not here. Very peaceful. Free quality coffee, tea, use of umbrellas, microwave, toaster oven. Sometimes there will be an attendant at the desk. All in all I would 100000% book here again.

Just remember to read the description of the Hotel it is not staffed 24/7. You can call someone in case of a problem. Just don’t take it out on the cleaning crew.

Hotel focused to much on aesthetics and edginess with an architectural vibe but missed out on functionality. Very humid in the room when coming back from exploring Kyoto. Weird smell from the poor ventilation. No reception which made it weird since it’s a hotel and not an AirBnB and complicated to get help.
The room was not clean, very dusty in some common places. We put ”please clean the room” sign on our door and they barely cleaned it, floor was not vacuumed, bathroom was hardly wiped. We cleaned it more ourselves even though we asked it to be cleaned. Not a lot of space to put your things for a longer stay, even though the room was spacious.

Sad since the hotel looked promising.

I got an email asking me to pre check in and go to another web site to pay city tax. I chose to pay city tax on arrival. Then I got 20 more email that said I must pay or risk losing our paid reservation. It sure seemed suspicious so I just showed up and paid the 800 yes at the front desk. Yes, there was a tablet and also two live humans to assist. We walked to the train station—takes about 18-20 minutes, downhill. We took a taxi to get to the hotel initially, and had to use my phone GPS to direct the driver.

Compared to other hotels we stayed the room had more space and garden was pretty cool. wish we could get out to the garden. I made mistake on dates so i had 2 reservations but the hotel emailed me informing me that I didnt have to check out and check in again without me asking them. Highly recommend

I absolutely love this hotel! The rooms are super modern and stylish. They even have a real Japanese toilet, which is a nice touch. And the checkout/checking process is automated, and with a tablet in the room that handles everything else. It’s so convenient! I’ll definitely be back for more trips.

Great staff, super friendly. The nespresso machine available was a great touch. After not having coffee during most of the other hotels, this was a perfect change.
The room is big and minders, the garden a great touch. It was all super clean.

Best surprise of the trip so far

The best surprise upon leaving the tiny hotel rooms in Tokyo! The room was spacious! Bathroom portion itself was the size of the hotel room in Tokyo. The staff super friendly, best hotel so far in our trip and I even tried to rebook it again for our return to Kyoto in 3 days but no vacancy.

The room was beautiful and well maintained. It was very modern and had great facilities. The washing machine and dryer were free to use. It was located in a small room with a vending machine but worked well. They had a coffee machine, microwaves and amenities in the lobby. It was a great place to stay. It was very quiet. It is surrounded by apartments so we did have to walk a bit far to get to some of the areas we wanted to get to. Overall, it's a beautiful place to stay.

Bonus is close proximity (across the street) to the amazing Sanjusangendo temple with it 1001 Buddhas

Truly a great experience with this hotel. The entire process is automated and no interaction with any staff, didn’t see one person there.
We checked in using the tablet in the lobby, simple process, got our room number and other information and walked in to the room. Very cool.
Hotel is ina quiet neighborhood, nothing convenient close by. There is no breakfast offered, so you have to plan it.
The room are immaculately clean, and so are the bathrooms. All amenities are included and there is a coffee machine in the lobby. There is also a self service, lockable baggage storage in the lobby.

Clean and simple, modern japanese interiors. Spacious room and bathroom. Terrace kind of useless and it looks directly into another apt building. Staff extremely incompetent. Multiple staff couldn't handle sending my luggage to my next hotel on the correct date and failed to give me a receipt or take payment after asking and confirming multiple times about it. Got to my next hotel, was informed my luggage was taken back by the delivery service because it arrived too early and failed to receive payment. What a major disappointment and upset. Would not recommend to anyone.

We were in Kyoto for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. The rooms are rather large for a Japanese hotel and the accommodation was great. The bed was comfortable, and the shower had amazing water pressure. My only negative was the distance to a subway station was rather far.

La struttura di per sé è nuova e ha un bel potenziale. La cosa che ci è piaciuta di più è il fatto che sia tutto nuovo e la vicinanza alla metro. I servizi sono un po da rivedere in particolare la lavatrice e asciugatrice che offrono gratuitamente ma costantemente occupata, ma comprensibile perché gratis. Invece punto dolente che ci ha stupiti in negativo è la pulizia in 5 notti che siamo stati non è ma stato cambiato il lenzuolo (che poi abbiamo scoperto che era solo su richiesta) ma in generale anche il bagno non è mai stato pulito anche il pavimento che è una moquette è sempre stato sporco

Min kæreste og jeg havde 3 overnatninger på dette fine lille hotel i Kyoto. Hotellet ligger cirka 10-15 minutters gågang fra en station og på den mere stille side af floden. Vores værelse var dejlig stort og rummeligt med en kæmpe seng. Eneste lille minus var, at vi ikke kunne åbne et vindue, selvom vi havde to store vinduer på værelset (de måtte dog ikke åbnes). Men ellers er der ikke noget at sætte en finger på, vi nød bestemt vores ophold i de rolige omgivelser.

部屋も風呂も広いしデザインも綺麗でとても楽に心地よく過ごせました。部屋の防音もしっかりしてて静かに過ごしよかったです。テーブルも置いているし荷物を置く空間も十分。ベッドもふかふか、パジャマも着心地よかったです。無料で洗濯機もつかえるのはとてもよかったです。急な雨に無料に傘もレンタルできてお出かけの時とても助かりました。
