Great place to stay while visiting Iron Mountain
Magdiell
The hotel was clean and well maintained. When we entered the room it smelled clean and fresh. Other hotel rooms can smell musty but thankfully our hotel room was very clean. Nothing special about the room but nothing to complain about either. I gave the hotel 3 stars because of the breakfast. It was Memorial Day weekend and it's to be expected there would be more guests than usual. We stayed for 3 nights. Each day that we went down to breakfast there were very slim pickings. None of the food was replenished timely if at all. The first day we thought maybe it was because we went down pretty late and breakfast was winding down. The next 2 days we made a point to go down early and that was even worse. The 2nd day we ended up going to a restaurant, we had a full day of activities planned and we wanted to make sure we ate well. On the 3rd day we noticed the pattern. The attendant was slow to get food out. She told us she'd replenish the hot foods, never did, was pretty non-existent the whole time. Was it laziness on her part? Maybe, is it the hotel trying to save money and outrun the clock? I don't know, what I do know is we stay at Holiday Inns to enjoy the breakfast that we have in the past and save some money. This was very disappointing and I don't know if it was the worker not doing her job properly or the hotel trying to keep costs down. In all other aspects the hotel had friendly, polite staff. But the lack of attention to serving breakfast left us sour.
Zak

Danielle

Carrie

Mary Jo
Updated clean rooms. Nice lobby and 24 hour coffee station. Pool area was clean and well kept
Rami
Clean, updated hotel with your typical Holiday Inn Express breakfast (good) and terrible coffee. Good location and the staff were nice too.

Expedia rated this place in the high 4's out of 5 and it was more like a 2 way over priced.

Rough stay
Arrived having paid in full. I was charged a second time because the hotel has no record of my payment. Waiting on a refund of the second payment. The people on the upper floor made the entire night miserable. Very loud and poor sound proofing between floors. They were up banging around at 2 in the morning still.
Mary
Quiet, overnight stay in Iron Mountain. Just what we needed. No complaints.
Kristen
Probably the nicest hotel in the area. Price seems a bit steep for time of year/area. When we pulled up there were only 2 other vehicles for guests present and by morning only a handful more - so fairly quiet. No hot tub, pool was a bit small and water temp a little too cold. Staff was very nice and the hotel in general is kept clean with standard updates.
Breakfast was pretty good with several different options.

Small Gripes For A Satisfactory Stay
TV was mounted in the worst position on the wall for either the bed or the couch to watch it comfortably.
Caulking in bathroom was slopped in corners and paint was peeling of ceiling in bathroom. Made wife worry about mold.

Room was spacious, clean and well lit. Nice big flatscreen TV with plenty of channels to choose from.
Great breakfast with plenty of choices and good coffee.
Location not the best but what an one expect when it’s located next to a busy highway.

Two words – chintzy windows.
Totally inadequate for the location of the hotel. The wonderful staff person who checked me in kindly granted my request to be put on the back side of the building, facing away from the highway. It did not matter. There seemed to be loud traffic noise coming from all directions and the cheap windows did extremely little to keep it out. The semis rolling past at all hours were not the biggest problem. Instead, this area has an overabundance of inconsiderates with overly loud pickups, motorcycles, and cars with modified exhausts. And there doesn't seem to be much in the way of quiet hours for these inconsiderates. I had to crank the TV volume to hear it over the traffic noise and I had to sleep with one of their nice dense pillows covering my head. Even that did not completely keep out the noise. I was woken up at 5:30AM one of the days by a modified-muffler car.
Given the location and noise situation, this place needs windows with much better soundproofing.
If you are a light sleeper or noise-pollution intolerant, avoid this place.
It's a shame, because everything else was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well-equipped. The breakfast was great. I would love to give it a thumbs up. But my stay failed to give me what I needed most – a good night's sleep. It was so definitely not worth anywhere near the 139.50 I paid per night.

The hotel was clean and updated. The pool
Was small, but our party of 10 were the only ones in there, which was nice. We had a suite with a sofa bed, but there was not any bedding in the room. I went to the front desk to get bedding and I was told that they did not have any pillows. I did not accept that and she ended up calling her manager and found 2 pillows!

This is a very remote area with few accomodations for overnight stays. This is probably the best place in town to stay. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean. I have no complaints, other than a fake Swedish restaurant down the street that we unfortunately stopped at for supper.
Carol
Nice property.
Grant

Andrea
Nice, comfortable, and clean place to stay
Jessica
The staff was all pretty cranky except the breakfast attendant. The room was much smaller than I expected for a double queen room and the breakfast was just okay. A decent hotel for the UP but I have definitely stayed at nicer places.
Robert
GREAT AREA ..WE ALWAYS STAY HERE WHEN WE ARE IN TOWN

IP visit
Very nice room. Spacious and clean, one of the nicer rooms I’ve stayed in at a Holiday Inn. . Lacked condiments for the in room coffee and no conditioner in the shower however those issues were remedied.
Eric
The room was not cleaned properly. The toilet still had remnants of the previous occupant.
Christopher
Excellent all around.
Clean, comfortable rooms. A quality breakfast buffet. Excellent customer service. Will stay again in the future.
Ruta
It was nice and quiet all night. Slept well.

Clean, comfortable Holiday Inn
As far as Holiday Inns go, it was a very clean hotel. Rooms were very comfortable. Right off Highway 2, which made it very convenient for us. The staff were friendly & the breakfast pretty good. This was our first time to the U.P.
Doni
I like the property and staff. I felt very safe and had a pleasant stay
Lydia Rose
Easy to find, easy to park, very clean!

Great Option in Iron Mountain
Clean modern Holiday Inn Express location with good amenities and a decent breakfast buffet. I can recommend easily. Perhaps the nicest lodging option in the very small town of Iron Mountain.
Roy
very good, clean, great staff
Elizabeth
Room is very clean, quiet and comfortable.
Super clean. Great stay in comfortable room.
Janice
Room was pricey. We were told our room overlooked the river, but the actual view was of the parking lot.

Comfy, Cozy & Yummy!
Our room was comfortable and clean, and seemed to have been recently updated. The colors, artwork, and decor were simple, tasteful, and modern. The breakfast buffet included a number of hot items, including cinnamon rolls, which we really enjoyed! Our stay was everything you would expect in a hotel stay; we appreciated this and would gladly stay here again when we return to the U.P. next time.

Did not no the pool was closed due to maintenance till after we paid for the room. Had I known this I would have chosen a hotel with the pool open.

Ample parking. Conveniently located in town across the street from the dispensary.

Clean and comfy rooms, great staff
Stayed here for a few nights to visit friends in the area. Room was big and clean, especially the bathroom. Toiletries were great. Beds were comfy and the room was spotless. Gym and pool were nice to have. Special thanks to the great staff. Thanks to Stephanie. And thanks to the staff that went above and beyond when my car got stuck in the snow.

Andrew
Great overall!
Overall, a wonderful stay with friendly and helpful staff! This hotel has earned its high marks on Hotels.com! Only one gripe - my wife has dairy and gluten allergies, which was what tipped the scale for us to book with this hotel as it had a buffet style breakfast offering. Unfortunately, this closed down due to COVID-19. When we arrived at the hotel, we found out that breakfast was changed to \"grab and go\" and none of the items were able to be gluten or dairy free.
The only thing I would have done differently as management would have been to send a blast email out at the time of the change to everyone who made a future booking to inform them of the change. We were able to go to the local Walmart and get food, so it did not hurt the trip.

Best HIE ever
By far the nicest Holiday Inn Express at which we have ever stayed. Room & lobby were in like-new condition. Thoughtful details like small nightlight built into bathroom outlets. Pretty and modern decor. Strange lounge chaise chair In King room ended up being kinda comfy. Friendly & helpful staff.
Note: take a short walk north behind competitor hotel to see the ruins of the Ardis Furnace, kinda like a UP Stonehenge. Neighborhood walk a little farther down Spring Street to E Grand Blvd Circle to see lovely views of Lake Antoine.
