Our stay was fine, we had a large room with the king bed, it's perfect for a couple nights stay and you don't want to spend a ton of money. It's just the older hotel.
Kimberly
Good for a quick overnight stay
Kathleen
Adequate but breakfast was very basic
Barbara
How nice that there was a Finnish sauna! Staff was very friendly!

Need higher or handicap toilets older people with bad backs or knees is hard to use these short toilets but otherwise the stay was fine
Amy
Convenient and clean. Good value for the price.
PAULA

Damion
Great place.
Jess
Nice place
Rachelle
Good price. Carpet is dirty and stained up, but otherwise nice place. The staff was absolutely amazing. So friendly and made conversation throughout our stay.
Jonathan
This worked well for us as an overnight stay. The price of the room was very reasonable. The only real complaint would be the bed was not overly comfortable. We were certainly able to make do with the bed for a night, but I don’t think an extended stay would have worked for us. That being said I have no regrets and would choose this location again for a single night. The staff was very friendly.
Rick
Run down but clean. Bed was like sleeping on crinkled Paper. I’ll never stay there again
Marvin
The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Both were very hard.
Robert
Always enjoy our stay at the Mountain Host.
Jess
Very nice place just no elevator
Cindy

The room was clean and the staff was super helpful!!

I was bitten by something, I'm assuming maybe a spider. Had a moderate allergic reaction. Breakfast options where limited. I would definitely keep your rates low at this time.
Randy
Been staying there for years. First for business trips, now for UP vacations. Consistently delivering pleasant stays. Aways priced fairly.
Martin
We needed a room for the night after a reservation at another hotel couldn't be found. Easy to book online. Room was a bit bigger than average for two queen beds. The beds were nice and everything was clean and neat. There was oatmeal, yogurt and egg sandwich's available for breakfast. For some reason my son could not get the pancake machine to work. Staff was friendly and courteous.
Allison
Friendly helpful staff. Room was very clean and nice.
Thomas
Affordable, convenient and accommodating.
Gene
Nice Hotel located in a very central place.
Trani
The lady at the front desk was very nice and friendly, but overall it wasn’t a pleasant stay. The bed was uncomfortable, the room had a strange smell, and the bedding and towels looked old and worn.
Nancy
Clean, staff was great. Did not partake in breakfast..
Pat
Good except for people we could hear talking outside until 1 am
MaryBeth
The only complaints the mattress needs to be replaced the beds were terrible and there was no hair dryer ,the staff was very nice and room was clean
Ellen
Sorry I didn’t get the desk clerks name, but she was great! I am unable to climb stairs. We were assigned a second floor room and she was able to rearrange so we had a first floor room.
I look forward to staying at the Mountain Host again.

A very restful place
After 15 hour drive we had a very restful night. The room was clean and comfortable.
The only negative comment is a maintenance issue. The bathroom fan needs to be replaced. It was very noisy and was controlled with the light switch. So if you needed the bathroom light on, you had to hear the noisy fan as well. We would definitely stay here again though.

$99.00 per night and that was too expensive.
Cute building, old, tired and in need or a make over. We had to change rooms due to a broken a/c. Upon check in we waited about 15 minutes for the only visible staff member to help us. She was doing check in and answering the phone
. The side doors are manually locked at10 pm. So anyone can just walk in and wander around, one of the safety issues I am concerned about.
The fiberglass tub unit is very slippery and the grab bar is incorrectly installed on the end of the tub next to the toilet. This made it very uncomfortable to use. The hot water carafe was damaged and made it difficult to safely have a morning cup of tea!
The location was nice and I feel that the ownership of the property has neglected it for a number of years.

Great value
Very reasonably priced hotel, quiet, and friendly staff. Easy access off highway.
Necia
Stayed for 3 nights, toilet ran every 4.5 min.24hrs a day! Beds were hard as rock, pillows not much better. Place was clean, nice wood floors, good coffee at breakfast. Towels in room were rough and no place to hang them at all! Enjoyed the free continental breakfast, and loved the microwave and fridge in the room! If the beds and pillows were more comfortable, it would have been a much more pleasant stay. I had a very rough time sleeping
Ellen
Check in is always quick and easy. Room was comfortable.

Good place in convenient location
Staff was great. Hotel is older but clean and well maintained.
Lori
Quiet, with friendly staff! Pancake maker was a hit

Creepy
Old, outdated, creepy and they offered tanning. The reviews were great, which makes me question Hotels.com rating process.
Richard
Great place
gary
Clean, great staff, check in& morning, I was on highway side so a bid noisy but nothing after 11 pm, good price!
Marjorie
This hotel was clean and convenient but our room was a little noisy. We could hear the person above us walking around and people talking out side our window early in the morning.
Edward
Nice accommodations at a good value!
Very nice accommodations at a good value! Staff was courteous and helpful. My wife had a \"little difficulty\" using the toilet (it sat pretty low), as she had recent knee and hip surgery. But overall, I would highly recommend a stay here, if you are in the area! 😊

Great place to stay, reasonable priced
We were there for the Gus Maker, hotel was very nice, the desk clerks were very friendly and helpful.
John
Rooms were very sterile tv was small, lots of road noise left early. Did not stay the night.
Michael
Good stay
Stay was short staff was great
Scott
Very friendly staff. Clean older hotel. Basic transient lodging.
steven
Good Value
Overall the hotel is in good condition, and I had no issues with my stay. The cracked bathroom sink and rusting shower handle should be address though IMO.
Richard
Stayed here before and was surprised that the bathroom wasn't very clean and the beds need upgraded.
Gerard
Clean, comfortable modest accommodation.
Gene
Clean, comfortable and quiet!
Excellent shower!
Excellent shower!
Jeffrey
Great value. Friendly staff.

Excellent place to stay!
My son & I were up there for a family memorial gathering at my sister's house and this was close for us to stay. She only lived 10 minutes away. Room was perfect, price was great, free breakfast was a plus, people were very helpful and friendly. Had no problems whatsoever! Would definately stay there again!
Michael
Great location & clean. Friendly staff, we would definitely stay here again.
Carolyn
We were unable to get into our room until after 4 pm. The staff could not even provide a time that our room would be ready. We had to keep checking. I recently had knee surgery and our room was on 2nd floor with no elevator

Good, but not quite great
This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag in all aspects.
The rooms are always clean and comfortable, but they do feel outdated in some ways, such as a functioning but LOUD air conditioning unit or a reclining chair that feels broken but is still usable.
Some employees were very kind and helpful, but others came across as gruff and \"too busy to deal with this\" when I had issues such as my key card not working on the second day of my stay.
It does score high for being in a convenient location, with a few grocery stores and restaurants within easy walking distance or a simple drive down the highway. But that can come with some traffic noise if your room faces the highway.
I did not eat breakfast or use any other facilities, so I can't speak to those.
All in all, it's worth it for the price they charge compared to other hotels in the area, but you do get what you pay for.

Great stay as always! Staff was helpful and extremely friendly.
Mike
Convenient, quick access to shopping nearby, lots of restaurants
Frederic
Very conveniently located
Michael
Deserves a lower ranking
Very limited breakfast offerings. Located on a main road through town and could easily hear traffic through the night. Desk person didn’t know how to generate a receipt. Otherwise, fairly clean and moderately aged furnishings in the room and lobby.
Leo
The wait at the desk and the smell of the room.Like cigarette smoke.
Gloria
It met my needs for an overnight stay. Would probably not stay there again. Staff not friendly. They were annoyed with new computer system.
George L
Room wa clean and comfy
John
Good property. My only complaint was a noisy refrigerator in the room overnight. I could have easily unplugged it had I realized where the noise was coming from. Other a good room.
Jay
Door lock was broken. Had been repaired but needs a whole new door frame. Did not feel secure. Room was nice and clean.
Matthew
Good price, great location, and friendly service.
Lindsey
Very clean and staff was hospitable

OK, but disappointed
I don't like that I was duped by Hotels.com when I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. Because of that I paid $20 more than I should have. As a senior on SS every penny counts and I couldn't even get my AARP discount because of this too. The ice machine was broken so no ice. The bed mattress needs to be rotated because it was flattened and going downhill on the lamp side.
Lisa
Ice machine was not working, outside doors were unlocked.
Sarah Jo
The opening front desk employee was the nicest hospitality worker I've ever met. Good guy, I'll be back because of him.
Michael
I don't care for the locals.
Reed
The first room I got had bed bugs. If it wasn’t so late at night I would have got a refund and went to a different hotel, but I settled for a different room. The lady working that night was helpful. When I checked out the next morning, the guy behind the desk couldn’t be bothered to look away from his phone or acknowledge me. Overall, not impressed at all and will definitely not be staying here again
Terra
The staff was nice and helpful. My King room was clean, but the bed was really hard, our toilet would clog every time we used it. The shower made a unbearable squealing sound, and we could only bear it for 5 or so minutes.
Ann
Great room at a great price!!
Gisella
Terrible cleaning
Was my second time here .. this time was disapoiment with the cleaning.. i found sex objets, two watches and medicines into the night stand.. was terrible... and anothe gabinet garbage.. so this means nobody check and clean.. i cant imagine if somebody leave somethings worse. We are a couple .. but i cant imagine if i have a child there.
Amy
The rooms are pseudo wooden floors do not stay on the first floor because you will hear everything going on up above you.
Pamela
Person wasn’t at the desk upon check in for about 10 minutes. She was in another area. No one was at the desk besides us and another customer.
howard
Room was large and quiet.
Ellen
Another comfortable stay. Always happy with our stay at the Mountain Host. Good breakfast and the new pancake machine made it even better.
Verified traveler
It is nice for travel with one night stay.
This motel is nice and quiet. It provided what we need for one night stay. We think it need some upgrade (eg. the bathroom with light in the bathroom needs repair, it is too loud when turned on).
Jane
Very resonance rates, staff wonderful, wood floors! Very clean! Def would stay here again!
Paul
We review based on overall value.
The room rates are low and with that taken into consideration we would give them a 8.5 out of 10.
Room was clean and comfortable and we felt safe in the general area as well as in the hotel.
The breakfast was fine based on what we paid for the room.
Overall the property is showing its age just a little. Remember our room was clean and comfortable.
We would definitely stay here again!

Convenient, right in the main drag, easy in/out of the lot. It's clean, quiet, right by the Super 1 grocery store. Perfect for sleeping and getting up and jumping right.onnthe hwy!

Was very clean, staff late at night was very kind and helpful for a quick check in
Diane
Nice place, friendly staff.
Tom
Clean room with comfortable bed. Minimal breakfast and staff frequently not at reception desk. A big plus for me, a comfortable chair (in the king room) to read, instead having to sit in bed or use a desk chair

We will choose Mountain Host every time we visit Iron Mountain. The location is convenient. The staff is always very kind and helpful. The rooms are well kept, clean and comfortable.

Good value
Everyone was friendly, but the walls are thin! Heard next room turning over in bed!
John
Just an average motel. Nothing remarkable. No reason to select over others and no reason not to.

It was a last minute stay, as we were on our way home from a vacation. Pleasant lady at the front desk.
