The swimming pool and water facilities were the most varied I had experienced.

However looking up at the pipes whilst swimming there was a lot of rust on them. Perhaps there is already a maintenance date established.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good food at the bar/dining room. All very comfortable. Downsides -no fridge in room. Could do with a nice painting in the bedroom. No safe in the room. Horrible brown Formica style furniture. I think a hotel of this quality could enhance the bedroom decor. However, all in all, a very good stay.

We arrived four hours to our check in time and they graciously let us check in. The breakfast is an endless array of breakfast delicacies in a clean, quaint dining room. We had Serena and Fean as our servers our first night. Kind, friendly and very patient. And they make amazing flat whites. Please take advantage of this property if you are visiting this area ☘️🇮🇪

The hotel feels a little dated, but room was good size and very comfortable bed. The swimming pool was opened early and good size with lots of extras, sauna, jacuzzi etc . We eat in the hotel restaurant and although quite limited menu, the food was very nice and quickly prepared. Would go there again for a short break.

It did feel like a wedding hotel, it gets a lot of visitors and the rooms and general hotel felt a bit battered, it could have been better maintained in the rooms and the breakfast dinning area.

Great to have the leisure centre attached and be able to make use of the facilities, the gym was surprisingly really well equipped, enough to keep all forms of gym people satisfied!

Over priced Hotel with poor service from some of the staff who are more eager to close the spa/gym and go home than to assist guests. check in time is 4pm then the spa/gym/pool was denied to us at 7.15pm then check out at 12 that does not allow you much time to use the facilities especially considering the breakfast room is not big enough to seat guests and we were asked to wait 30 mins for a table/entry to breakfast.
I don't wish to stay here again.
special shout out to the breakfast chef who made generous omelettes very well.

Older couple stay at Brandon House Hotel

No lift to upper floor was a bit of a pain for us. It might put us off staying in the Brandon House again. ((We're senior citizens with multiple ailments). The only other complaint is that there was no \"comfortable\" chair in the room for reading, PC work etc. The straight back chairs provided were not comfortable, more like dining chairs.
On the plus side, the food was excellent & the staff were most helpful & friendly. The decor was intriguing & grounds were so interesting. Just put in a lift!

We had a fantastic weekend at Brandon Hotel. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. We did enjoy the gym, sauna and pool area. Our family room was spacious and beds were really comfortable. The food at the breakfast buffet was good, fresh and diverse. Something for everyone. According my son he had the best hot chocolate :) Overall this weekend was an absolutely treat for the family. Highly recommend for a relaxing family getaway!

Charming but in desperate need of TLC

We had a lovely stay at Brandon House Hotel, and there's a lot to like about the place. However, it's simply not a four-star hotel and the expectation as such let it down for us. The old library bar is beautiful, the view from the hotel is gorgeous and the staff were all very good - but everywhere had a feeling of being neglected, from the rising damp on the walls in the breakfast room to the many functions that didn't work in the leisure suite and the smell of damp throughout. Both the room rate and the library bar food were priced as a fancy place, but for that money I expect quality throughout. I hope the renovations will be extensive, because the place has plenty of charm and potential!

Recently in New Ross for the Kennedy Summer School which is an annual event in the town and stayed in the Brandon House Hotel, this hotel is certainly a very fine hotel, with excellent food and equally great staff such as Alison, Chris, Jennifer, Killian and Mark.
I treated myself to a spa treatment with staff member Brea, and she certainly knows her business, I felt very relaxed and comfortable during my treatment.
Brandon House Hotel is an amazing hotel with excellent staff, high standards and some lovely views of the area.
In all departments, I would give it 10/10 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 and special mention to Chris for going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure his clients are well served 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Greg Doyle has set the bar high when employing good people including Alison in Food and Beverage Management as she is worth her weight in gold!
I definitely will be back as a regular guest 😁

We enjoyed a lovely overnight stay in the hotel . Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was very nice. We have stayed in many hotels on a Saturday night were they usually have entertainment by one person on a guitar singing which usually bore me to death , but what made this stay memorable for us was the entertainment in the bar , which we thought was just another guy singing , but this guy had a saxophone . A collection of flutes , where he sang songs. Did the saxophone breaks inthe songs , and performed some beautiful tunes on his flutes . He kept everyone entertained for 2 hrs without any breaks Playing everything from pop to classic Irish and even finishing up with 80’s disco classics ! Gerry Cunningham was his name , so thanks for making it a night to remember

Parking fine, receptions and surounding areas well finished. Rooms pleasant, although duvets were too heavy for summer use. TV channles limited, although youtube was enabled which kept my son occupied whem required.

Food in the bar was fine. Small menu but fresh and came out piping hot. You do have to track down your own condiments though as they are not at the table or offered by your server.

Room bathroom, small but well finished. Temperature regulation valve in the shower was broken in our room, so there was no safety lock, nor could water be mixed successfully, therefore the shower had two tenperatures of cold or roasting hot. No use to shower a child and challenging for an adult. I stated this as recpetion when checking out and got nothing more than a 'thanks for telling us we wilk get that fixed'. That was of little use to us as we were ony staying one night....good service would have been at least to offer to see if we wanted a shower in an available room before we left, ask if we wanted breakfadt of or offer discount if staying again. The fundamental that a guest couldn't shower without risk of burns appeared lost on the two employees.

The grounds at Brandon House are well worth a stroll through. The hotel itself is an old house with a new extension that houses most of the rooms. There is no lift, which is worth noting if you have loads of luggage. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant but weren’t impressed with the quality. The bed was fairly hard and the duvet thick and heavy which isn’t ideal for the summer months. The hotel is worth an overnight stay but I wouldn’t recommend staying longer.

Said it was an upscale hotel. As you went away from the reception desk the rooms became more motel like. Extreme difference in room types not just bed types. Only found one employee helpful and happy, that was the server in the Library bar. The food in casual restaurant was outstanding. Traveling partners were offered coffee to go, when we asked we were told we needed to order from bar and wait for it!

All staff very efficient and pleasant. The only downsides were the small portions of chips at dinner and the pool which was cold. My daughter and husbands dinner had child size portions not value for the money charged. Also in this sort of hotel there should be a warmish pool,you wouldn't stay long in it. Also I couldn't see why after staying and 4 people having dinner and several drinks why I couldn't use the pool on the afternoon of check out. We both found that there was noise in this corridor. At one stage I had just got to sleep when there was something dropped. The soundproofing needs improvement but overall a pleasant stay

Even though interior looks refurbished, there are few details that stick out as outdated and there is also some weird stale smell in some parts of the room. Apart from that, rooms are very spacious and comfortable, especially the beds. My remarks goes to the noise coming from upstairs bedroom, you could hear every step people made as their floor was very squeaky, it was very annoying and woke me up few time in the middle of the night.

Breakfast was nice, a bit different than standard hotel breakfast with waffles for example. Service could be a bit better, you have to order some items directly, but often waiters just forget them.
Don't really understand why they don't serve beans and mushrooms with the fry up. Coffee was terrible as always in Ireland and UK.

We were happy enough with the stay overall and would gladly come back.

Flatly refused to check in before 4pm and did not offer to hold case to go use the spa/pool.
Room doors had been painted with notices fallen off showing unpainted door underneath. Windows - both open ver wide (no safety restriction) and both had broken catches.
Cobwebs in corners and around ceiling.
Soap and shampoo dispensers pumps broken.
Had to buy a hat for pool with no explanation other than required by girl on deck in leisure area. Young children (under 10) in jacuzzi and sauna/steam room when signs state not permitted, yet no one told them, even when pointed out to staff.
Breakfast fair although don’t expect anything like sourdough toast with your poached eggs!

I restrict my review to purely factual issues leaving future customers to form their own opinions. The approach to this hotel is up a narrow steep road that is poorly maintained. The convenient car park is right outside of the hotel and car doors bang loudly during the night. Steep brick and concrete steps lead to the doors. There is an open seating area to the left which impinges on the portico. It is well used by families with noisy children. There is a slope up to the entrance but it would be a hard push for a wheelchair. Reception are confused and not well trained. There is no lift. Our second floor room was cheaply decorated in 1970s style with a rucked carpet. The towels were thin and cheap. There were soap dispensers rather than toiletries. WI-FI was only accessible in the lobby. The evening meal was passable. The menu was shortened with a restricted wine list of very cheap wines. Fortunately, there is a good Italian restaurant in New Ross. I suggest you miss the breakfast and go to Sid's Dinner just down the road towards New Ross with good parking and the best Irish breakfast we had during our visit to Ireland. The hot weather during our stay was made more uncomfortable by the rubber sheet management had thoughtfully placed on the mattress. Seeing some of the clientele I am not surprised. Doors in our corridor were spring loaded (I guess due to fire regulations) and people banged these noisily throughout the night competing with the drunks on the patio beneath. Grim.

Absolutely stunning entrance. The gardens to the front are extremely well kept and full of colour. The staff were absolutely wonderful and so friendly. The food in the library bar was gorgeous, the nachos portion was huge and the Malay curry was exceptional.
It was 15 minutes walk to the town which was great.
The room was basic, but clean. No air con so had to leave the window ajar in the warm weather. They did have Elmis products in the bathroom which was a lovely bonus. I would highly recommend a stay here.

The hotel is very well placed ... with a short walk in to town (15 mins). New Ross is excellent with its superb murals and excellent tourist attractions (including the Kennedy Homestead close to the town).

Best for families or weddings; not couples/singles

Staff was pleasant, hotel is modern/clean, so I have no complaints overall. Just a few things to keep in mind when booking and why we wouldn't likely return.

We chose Brandon's and paid a bit more because of the pool for a weekend getaway - 2 adults; no kids. The pool is geared towards families, though - tiled and loud, requiring swim caps (really? Still?), which can be purchased (paper ones, I think he said) for 3 euro. Plus tiny, slightly rough pool towels of old - white with the blue stripe on them. You probably know the ones from some public pool. Kids looked like they were having a blast, to be fair! But not remotely the quiet relaxation we were looking for, so we passed.

Additionally, the food left a lot to be desired. The shrimp scampi had little flavor and was dry while the fish n chips was greasy and a very small portion for the price. The Brownie Eton Mess was nothing like expected - the brownie was really the only pleasant part. We aren't sure if the food was lacking and the bar slow because of a wedding going on but that shouldn't be the case if the hotel chooses to maintain service for big parties and regular (non party) guests. The Whiskey Sour and other drinks I ordered were perfect (my partner got all beers) but service was very slow. We could see the young bartender was working as fast as he could - I've owned a restaurant/bar - there was nothing wrong with what he was doing at all. But a weekend, a wedding AND the Dublin-Mayo match on -where was his help?
