The hotel is a well preserved slice of history. A landmark in its own right. The restaurant and bar area are recommended. If you’re driving by car take note that there is a long stretch of curb space reserved for buses, not cars and it is blocked off with cones. This makes accessing the hotel difficult and a member of the front desk staff was not pleased that I moved a cone to pull up and unload. During my stay (2 nights) I didn’t see a single bus but was told one had been there. Highly recommend the hotel rethink this. I would not book again based on this major inconvenience.

The staff are great, but sorry to say the famous Granville standards have slipped. Our room was fine but the bathroom was poor, mould around the bath and a cheap ill fitted toilet seat let it down. The plumbing was noisy and the taps were hard to control, bearing in mind the water was very very hot.

This hotel clearly caters for an older clientele. The interiors and ambience are very old-fashioned. Can't remember the last time I experienced a hotel bath with a rubber mat and fabric shower curtain! But it was all very clean and well-maintained, the service was warm and professional and the location was good so it ticked all our boxes.

We had a nice comfortable room at the Granville, overlooking a courtyard. However it was a bit of a trek to get to and as far as we could see there was only one extremely small elevator to service the whole place. Two people with large bags take up the entire space; once settled we used the stairs. And there are multiple doors to go through along with little sets of stairs to go up and down. Anyone with mobility issues must request an easily accessible room. Check in and out was very easy. Staff were very nice, making recommendations we asked for. We didn't have breakfast. Dinner at the restaurant was lovely and we appreciated the live music in the bar later on. Location was perfect since we could easily walk to all the main sites we wanted to explore.

Comfortable room, with kettle for tea & instant coffee - would be nice to have an espresso machine in all the rooms not just some. Nice little welcome card & cookies upon arrival! You can request an iron for your clothes. We had a quayside view which is great but currently a building site as they build the new bridge. Fortunately we were there over a weekend so the noise was minimal.

Really a nice place to stay.! However if you have luggage such as we had (traveling for 10 days)
, there is no parking right at the hotel. You have to park 2 blocks down the street.So bringing luggage into the hotel is cumbersome.

Our two night stay at the Granville Hotel was excellent. Unfortunately we arrived on the day that roadwork was being undertaken (not something the hotel were responsible for) out the front of the hotel (which we weren’t made aware of prior to arrival at the hotel to check in). As a result, on the second night we requested a room change to a quieter location in the hotel. The staff were really helpful finding us another room which was great.
Breakfast was very good with a large selection and great service from the staff. A great hotel, pub and right in the centre of town. The only suggestion we’d have is to request a room with an air conditioner if the weather is warm.
