Really lovely historic location and historic building (stairs required) with great views of the plaza with tons of shops and things to do right near by. Really wanted to love it but sadly no hot water in the evening and only a bit of warmish water the next morning. Along with very poor soundproofing from the room doors mean't you could easily hear everyone coming and going. Hopefully they can fix the hot water situation and try and do something with the doorways to isolate a bit. City center historic building your going to hear a bit outside but it's the sound from the halls that was really bad.

Hotel itself was great, old-school, and had a lot of character. The room had a great view of the plaza, and breakfast was excellent. Lost a star because it was not obvious at all before getting there that A) the hotel lobby and check-in was on the second floor, and that B) the hotel has no elevator. It would be seriously problematic for many people.

This hotel was ok, but not my favorite place in Punta Arenas. The staff was very nice and the location is conveniently located in the centro. But that convenience comes with noise--lots of it. It quiets a bit at night, but there is quite a bit of street noise and bells ringing from the churches plus the hotel seems old (our room had a skeleton key--I've never seen one in real life!) so you hear people walking around and you know when someone is showering. So if you just want a centrally-located place to lay your head, this hotel will do just fine. The area is ok, not safe or unsafe, and parking during the day can be a nightmare. But Punta Arenas itself is a city I can't wait to return to!

This is an old hotel; it has been renovated and it is impecably clean. The location is optimal to explore the city and to reach the tours. However, this is more most important - there are stairs for everything: to reach reception, to go to the room, to for for breakfast, even the restrooms in the lower flower have steps. Not a problem for young people, but anybody with mobility issues should be aware of it.

Beyond that, a lot of us to excursions leaving very early in the morning, and it would be nice to have a coffee or some fruit when leaving in morning; we missed breakfast both days.

On arrival found they would not accept debit cards for payment, and would not accept, dollars or sterling.
Luckily we were able to make a transfer direct from our bank.
All other hotels the same.
Suggest you pre-paay ALL bookings with all hotels in Chile, could save a lot of heartache.
Also in Chile it is now impossible to purchase a local Chile sim card for your phone - so make sure you have an e-sim installed before you travel.

My kids have a very early fliight and requested this from the front desk when we checked in. She said there is no problem (packed breakfast & taxi availability to the airport). My kids followed up that early morning and the staff assigned that morning does not know anything. This could have been relayed and handed over to the next staff. We had to contact a Chilean friend who gave us a number to call a taxi who came and took us to the airport. Although we liked the location of the hotel, it would have been great if this important matter was taken into consideration. Thank you.

The location of the hotel is excellent and the neighborhood seemed very safe. The Punta Arenas seaside is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

The wifi in the hotel was practically non-existent.
The air-conditioner in the hotel was non-functional. At night they used to switch on the heater so high that sleeping was very difficult. We had to open the window at night from the second day onwards even though it was quite cold outside. We had to risk catching cold over not being able to sleep at all because of unbearable heat.

The hotel is on the 3rd floor and they have people who will cardy your luggage up and down. The breakfast was quite ordinary. There aren’t that many great hotel options in Punta Arenas but if you book early enough you will surely find better options.

Great location right by the Plaza Des Armas. Easy walk to ferry (Isla Magdalena) and to restaurants and shopping. Rooms were clean and spacious. Good breakfast. The lobby is above ground level with no elevator - so you do have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs

The hotel staff are extremely warm, friendly and helpful. The breakfast is full spread and delicious. They provide luggage storage. On request, they arranged our taxi to airport and prepared a to go breakfast when we had an early departure. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel!!

So much potential, but gross

I wanted to love this place. The rooms are nicely sized and laid out. It's old and could have a lot of charm. However, the paint in our room was peeling in large areas, which I can normally overlook. But in addition, the room wasn't clean. The tub and toilet were spotless but the shower and bathroom walls and the bathroom mirror were all dirty. The dust on the bathroom door was clearly visible and had been growing for months. The room door could be seen through. .

With just a little love, this place could be great, but it seems like no one cares.

The Hotel Plaza is in a great location, very close to a number of the main attractions of Punta Arenas. It is in an older historic building and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and made arrangements for us for a tour. The staff knew enough english to be of assistance to our very modest spanish.

This is a brilliant hotel with fantastic staff. They helped us plan aditional sightseeing even when that meant we would check out early. Highly recommended.
We would have given 5 stars in all categories except we drew the straw for a room where the bathroom sewer was very smelly. Old hotel perhaps, faulty gully trap perhaps.

The hotel is in shoddy condition, it looks like a room from 1970. Not enough towels, no shampoo in the bathrooms, tiny tube TV sitting on an end table. Overall, definitely not worth what we paid.

Très bon emplacement pour explorer la ville , proche de tout. Hébergement de charme mais vieillot et ancien. Pas d’ascenseur. Chambre petite , insonorisation médiocre . Petit dej correct . Les draps n’était pas changé , pleins de poils et cheveux des anciens clients , un oubli ou mal fait ? Le réceptionniste nous les a changé de suite et ça sentait bien le propre cette fois .
