Our stay at Samari Spa Resort was truly unforgettable. The property itself is absolutely stunning—elegant, peaceful, and surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. From the moment we arrived, we could feel that this was a special place.
What made our experience even more meaningful, though, was the warmth of the staff. Every single person—from reception to the restaurant—was not only professional, but genuinely kind and welcoming. They created an atmosphere that felt both luxurious and incredibly comfortable, which is not always easy to find.
Traveling with young children (ages five and three), we weren’t sure what to expect at a more upscale resort, but it exceeded all expectations. Our kids had an amazing time, especially enjoying the chocolate massage and the pool area. It meant so much to us to see them so happy and included.
Between the beautiful setting, the thoughtful details, and the heartfelt hospitality, we created memories we will cherish for a long time. We still find ourselves talking about how warm and special our experience was.
We can’t recommend this place enough.

Hotel and grounds are beautiful. Both of us were upgraded to junior suites for free. One had WiFi, thick curtains and no fridge, the other had thin curtains, fridge and no WiFi. Jacuzzi bath filled to 3 inches in half an hour, below the jets, so not great. Shower tile grouting left a lot to be desired. Swimming pool was lovely. Staff were really friendly, but their communication was poor. We ordered room service for early morning coffee, but it only arrived on day 4, after telling them about it every day, and about the lack of wifi.Wrong order brought at breakfast. When replaced the omelette was raw inside. Buffet days were good. At the end we were not charged for some laundry we had them do for us.

This is one of the most beautiful properties I've ever stayed at. Every feature and design details were very thoughtful and luxurious. The extensive grounds were well maintained. The pool and spa was the highlight. It was just breathtaking how beautiful it was! Our room was very clean and comfortable. We dined at the hotel both nights that we were there and we had great meals. The view from the restaurant was phenomenal. The staff was fantastic and attentive. I highly recommend Samari resort!

Only minor comment: properly is not for people with limited mobility as it has multiple hills and steps to get to the room and pool.

The staff was great! The amenities were great! I own a maintenance company so it is an area they need to take a look at. Our Spa tub filled VERY slowly and drained even slower. The skylight about the toilet leaked during the rain in room 26. None of these issues would prevent me from going again and I would have stayed longer if I could. However, I have bad pollen allergies and something was bothering me since it is 300 years old and has no A/C I had to leave. LOVED our Stay!

Overall l, was a good stay at the property for my family and I. Some of the pros include the beautiful grounds, the pool and the awesome staff for breakfast and dinner! A few of the cons are that in our room the bathroom area was overrun with ants. The bed wasn’t all that comfy either, and on additional “nit” is that the front desk only allowed for two towels for our room…which was super inconvenient traveling with my spouse and 3 kids. I’m a consultant and have lived in hotels for a good chunk of my career and never experienced this anywhere else (from low tier holiday Inn’s to classier establishments like JW Marriot and Ritz. These small little things can make or break a trip so I hope someone in management reads this and updates their policies accordingly. On that note, even though we weren’t allowed extra towels the front desk staff was kind enough to find an extra rollaway bed for my oldest to sleep in

The rooms smelled awful and the restaurant customer service ruined our night. I checked out before my reservation ended to escape the smell even though I didn’t receive a refund for the remaining days of our suite. Stay away from this hotel, I would not recommend. They tried to give us two old rooms that smelled terrible before they showed us the newer room which still smelled, just not as much. We stopped at the restaurant for a quick snack and drink before needing to board our scheduled Chiva bus. After 35 minutes of waiting for our drinks we had to tell them we can’t wait for our drinks anymore and we paid for our food and left. 15 minutes later the waiter chased us down in the streets where we were waiting for our bus and argued with us saying that we have to come back and drink the drinks they still continued to make after we paid and left and that they charged us for them without our authorization.

Gorgeous hotel and historic buildings with a fabulous spa. We booked a beautiful suite with fireplace we used and jacuzzi. Bed super large and cozy! Delicious meals at the restaurant with ample breakfast included. Staff so helpful and friendly. Close to Banos town in a short walk or cab ride. We toured 2 fantastic days with Ivan. He is just the best and well worth booking him for touring the area. His # 593 96-764-8033

Termite in the room

Room was so dark , bathroom has cheapest shower head and no hot water coming. They have termite on the wood in the room and manager said it is normal.
Worst part is they will over charge your account and then won’t refund it and will encourage you to buy wine bottles. As an international tourist we are not to pay any taxes but they still charge me and when we ask them to refund it they refused it and said get bottle of wine . Staff speaks no English and tourist valueable time is wasted in asking for minimum requirements. Even water bottle is charged. Talked with manager, owner wasted my precious time.
They even ask you to cancel your booking if you have purchased it on Expedia or any other site so they don’t have to pay them but get business thru them . Cheap business practice.

The grounds of the hotel was the star, it was beautiful. The spa and services were great. Everyone at the hotel is very nice and goes out of their way to help. I have 2 minor complaint, the room was super dark, I understand they try to keep it atmospheric but at night with all the lights on we still can barely see. The other is that there’s no coffee or tea make in the room and it’s quite a hike to the main bldg.

I liked the facilities in general, particularly the covered pool, and the nice attention, especially the one given by Dora, who gave us many recommendations on places to visit during our stay.
What I didn't like, but what compensated one I told them, was that the breakfast was almost the same during the 3 days, which was actually a mistake they made, because they did show us the schedule. To compensate for that, we received additional empanadas at our check out.

This is an incredible location. I was unsure if the cost would be worth it but took the chance. The views are incredible and it’s so peaceful. You have to travel the world to find places like this . The staff makes you feel like royalty, any requests they can make it happen. Would definitely stay here again if I had a chance to.

The Samari Spa Resort is without question the best hotel that I have stayed in and I have stayed in 5 star hotels around the world. The attention to detail of the facility is outstanding and creates a warm and unique atmosphere. Much care and good taste has gone into creating this hotel.
We spent 2 days of our honeymoon here and happened to be upgraded to a junior suite with fireplace and jacuzzi, which was amazing. The jacuzzi is a little redundant because of the amazing spa facilities. Beautiful heated pool, jacuzzi and saunas in period courtyard of monastery covered by glass roof - amazing!
The breakfast was very ample - there are a few changes I would have made.

Luxury resort set amongst huge gardens with peacocks roaming the grounds. Absolutely stunning location and beautiful rooms. Room was enormous and bed was really comfortable with excellent linens. Loved the stone walled bathrooms and wooden furnishings. Excellent spa facilities with heated pool, sauna, turkish hammam and sun bathing area. Lots of lovely extras like home made chamomile tea, robes and slippers. The perfect place to unwind after being on the road travelling for 3 weeks. Thanks for the upgrade :)

One of the best hotels at which we have ever stayed. I loved, loved, loved being here. The front desk staff helped us immensely in obtaining excursions and tours. The gorgeous grounds are on a 300-year-old restored monastery. The cobblestone paths to the various cottages were pretty but required thick-soled shoes to walk upon comfortably. We stayed in the Buganvillas suite, and loved the two-person jetted tub. The flue on the fireplace allowed some smoke to enter the room when a fire was burning, even though there was no wind that day. (We ended up opening the door for 30 minutes to vent the room.) The glass enclosed, heated pool was wonderful, and the massages at the spa were top-notch. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious, though one would hope for more vegan/vegetarian options that included protein--especially at a resort that emphasizes wellness. Overall, a fantastic stay at one of the best properties in Banos, and I would absolutely recommend it for most everyone.

Paradise in Ecuador!

My boyfriend and I stayed a the Samari Spa Resort for 5 days this April. It was a great experience! The staff is warm and welcoming and they went to great lengths to make us feel conformable. We were up-graded immediately! The rooms are huge!

The only issues would be that the lighting in our room was too dim. We had to keep removing the lamp shades to see at night. :)
Also, the resort is a nice distance from the town but for $1.50, a taxi can get you there in about 5 minutes. I don't recommend walking because it's a distance through an area with no real sidewalks.

A cab from Quito to Banos cost $60! The food is nice. Make sure to use all of the spa has to offer. We each had nice massages after a long day of walking through the town.

Nice place! I highly recommend it if you are looking for a beautiful spa and tranquil experience surrounded by mountains!

I will go again!

Think twice before you book

The place looks pretty much like the pictures but it’s old and they definitely don’t keep it clean and free of dust. As soon as I went in the room I started to sneeze, it seemed as if they hadn’t clean that place in months. The service at the moment of check in took forever, the food was served cold and it was not the best in taste. So, 5 star hotel? Doubtfully.

Samari Spa Resort Stay

We stayed one night at the Samari Spa Resort. The hotel is nearby to the town of Banos and other sightseeing activities are within a 20-30 minute drive (La Casa Del Arbol and El Pailon Del Diablo.) The hotel staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were spacious. I stayed in a triple room. The rooms are equipped with robes and slippers for the spa (services are reasonably priced and the spa staff was excellent.) The only downfall was that the indoor pool surrounds the spa, so as you are receiving your treatments, all you hear is people making noise from the pool. Not very relaxing at all. The breakfast is delicious and it offers an array of typical Ecuadorian foods. Overall it was a very nice stay.

The best place to relax and rejuvinate

We stayed 2 days and enjoyed this time very much. It was raining and we chose not to leave the property. There were million things to do: long swimming in the pool. The water was perfect, the music pleasing, the view unbelievable.
Then there is this park with peacocks and many pleasant surprises around each corner. Then there was a huge hall with a piano. We played and then brought our iPad for the music and danced.
We also took SPA procedure everyday. My husband loved his guy. My Norma was just awesome.
We ate in their restaurant and loved every meal.There is also a garden and all these paths are so beautiful.

We arrived at the airport at 10:45 and not only was a driver there, but also your front desk manager, Myra. We arrived about 3am at the resort and people were ready to assist! The services only got better! We stayed 4 nights and used every service offered. your spa, fabulous; the food was 5 star ( and we ate there for almost every meal). the room, junior suite, was gorgeous. the gardens, spectacular, and the employees very kind! I cant wait for my next trip. thank you Samari for such a fabulous vacation stay!

We decided to spend a little extra than we usually would on a place to stay and it was really worth it. The grounds are beautiful, staff very courteous, food delicious and room had a very comfortable antique style. Highly recommended!
