Quaint little bungalow, nothing fancy but was enjoyable, good size and quiet A/C. Staff kept the room and facilities clean which is tough given the proximity to the sandy beach. No safe in the bungalow so have to keep that in mind. If you love hearing nature, song birds, cicadas and geckos this is the place to come. Didn't affect sleep though and the bungalow kept the outside nature sounds at bay pretty well.

The beaches are beautiful, staff make you feel like unwanted guests. We are tippers, but there was nothing in the service that even made us want to tip. Breakfast was always cold, they put new food on old, every meal was unremarkable. Walking anywhere was dangerous in terms of drivers and there was garbage strewn all over the island. They charge enough when you get off the boat to clean the island, so disappointing when you consider the potential. I would NOT call this a gay friendly area.

This is a very cozy place, all of the rooms are essentially a standalone bungalow. Staff is nice, restaurant and beach bars were nice. Had a few friendly domesticated dogs and puppies around. At night the jungle noises came to life. Only complaint was the plumbing would make noise when other bungalows flushed or showered. Would stay again though absolutely.

This place was excellent. The staff was super friendly and made us feel like we were at a 5 star hotel the entire time we were there. I rented out 2 cottages and it was peaceful there. There was stand up paddle board and kayaks for us to use. I highly recommend this simple place if you want good bang for your buck, but if you want more modern and updated place then you may miss out on the excellent customer service here.

Steps from the sand

Excellent location on the beach amid a copse of tamarind trees. Quiet except for the intermittent cacophony of the cicadas (actually that was pretty cool). Friendly, helpful staff (they called our ferry service to order, in Thai, our boat return to the mainland). Good, hearty breakfast (either Thai seafood rice soup or traditional American). Overall, a pleasant stay. We stayed in one of the Thai houses, a bungalow whose interior was a bit on the dark side (brown wood walls and ceiling) but ideally situated steps from the sand.

We stayed for 10 days and found it relaxing. Staff were pleasant and helpful when you could find them.
The lady cooking the omelettes and the older gentleman were fabulous, friendly and efficient. Both restaurant staff.
The wifi unfortunately was inadequate and in and out constantly.
We ate in the outdoor restaurant a few times and unfortunately found the food less than satisfactory.
And perhaps you could offer food and drink service at your pool.
Also the building works going on outside our room and others was noisy and disruptive.
I know it sounds like we didn’t enjoy when in fact we did. Just what we noticed that’s all.

Great hotel with a great location. Stayed in the Thai House which was amazing! Rooms were well taken care of and were beautiful for a beach resort. Everything was available in the resort. Staff was constantly around providing help. Quieter resort with a busy resort and fire dancers about a quarter mile down the beach. Really nice sandy beach. Enjoyed the beach life. Would definitely stay here again.

We go here every year. We love it! The staff is attentive, friendly and professional. They will make sure everything is right! Great staff..beach is lovely, our house is quiet and private..food is delicious (and restaurant staff is also great!) There are some nice little pubs a short walk from the grounds.. Very relaxing. Enjoyable and well looked after with some issues.

We (2 families) had a lovely dtay. The Thai houses were comfortable and serviced by pleasant maids. The children loved the swing on the beach and the beachwas ideal.

On the downside, the breakfast has deteriorated since our last visit a year ago, with no cakes and very little variety. Coffee has improved. Number of people out stripped supply of food at times as did seating.

Having fallen down the dark steps of Thai house 16, I can confirm the need for more lighting at night. Take care!

Overall good,with breakfast & ferry disappointment

The resort was okay. Thai house was cute but the shower was bad. The breakfast was repetitive, but it was good enough. Thai food is amazing and the breakfast was not a representation of that variety, however the staff and their service at breakfast and room cleanliness was very good and those staff members are very sweet.
We only received a free ferry to the resort and the \"scheduled\" morning ferry did not take place because only two persons wanted to go in the morning ferry and they would not arrange us on another neighbors ferry. We had to pay for a fast boat in order to leave the morning time, at least we got a little discount after insisting. Then that boat was an hour late, so we didn't get to our next scheduled thing on time even after paying extra for a service that was promised free according to the rate we paid inclusive of the free round trip ferry.
The bay has several resorts and several other boats and ferries had left that same morning earlier than ours and if they had kept shared boats and ferries with neighboring resorts perhaps this wouldn't be a problem. I cannot assume to understand their system, but it surely seems they did not come through on their promise when it was in their power to offer us a ride back to the main land according to the schedule put forth on their terms at the time of booking.

Besides that, the last night there were several little ants coming inside the Thai house, so maybe pest control could be better.

Two days is plenty at this spot. Not much to do. I recommend renting a scooter and going to the south point (2 hours is enough)
I also recommend paying at the resort. Do not pay through this website. We had an issue where we discovered the pool is closed, although the website didn’t say that (I double checked). Neither hotelsdotcom nor the hotel took any responsibility. In fact, trying to get ahold of someone at hotels is quite frustrating. I will say that after we returned home, they did give us a coupon for a future stay, but there was zero communication while at the hotel.

Vongduean Resort is located on a beautiful white sand beach. There are several hotels on this stretch of beach, so it is not secluded. We stayed in the standard rooms, which are located up the hill at the back of the resort. They are OK but the cleaning supplies and stuff are stored underneath and around the back buildings, not so nice. The resort does have it's own boat that brings you to the resort, which is a nice touch and makes the trip easier. The restaurant serves good-quality food, quite delicious. Probably the best highlight is the candlelight dinner on the beach...a very nice touch.

The property walking in was not super clean but that was an island wide issue. The rooms were clean but our second/third day they did not come in and empty the trash. We left no indication that we didn’t want them to come in so that was a little disappointing. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful with questions we had. The beach is perfect! Clean, quiet and lots to do. I would go back, but hopefully next time they take out the trash.

They took turns entertaining our 10 month old grandson so we could enjoy our meals. He loved them .. and we loved having them be so caring. We will definitely try and stay at Vong Duean when we return to Koh Samet.

Nice beach. Good for family. However, I feel poolside cottage is over priced especially Cottage #1 (walll view). Avoid booking poolside. Recommend regular cottage. To keep away from huge mosquitoes, make sure you prepare mosquito repellent spray. It helps.

Just nearby the beach, the scenery is really good. It’s a good place for kids. The hotel has large ferry boat to pick up guests free of charge.
Open the quilt, there is sand on the sheet. I don’t know if it’s not cleaned, or it’s not replaced.

We stayed in a beach house with a king and bunk bed. We were very comfortable. The staff is amazing, and always jump to help.

Do not book Cottage with 2 King beds. There is no such thing. We are a family of 4. Booked 9 weeks in advance. Only told on check-in day no such thing that we thought we had paid for.
Vongdeun bay is quite polluted with many other bars/hotels. Very different to what we experienced 2 years ago when it was virtually empty.

May 28 for 4 nights . This hotel is a great place to stay . Great location , even greater breakfast buffet - the best we’ve had in Thailand. If you come in the low season make sure you bring industrial strength mosquito spray as you will need it 24/7 and earplugs at night as the frogs talk quite loud. The hotel and staff overall were very good and couldn’t do enough for us . Most enjoyable stay . ( you willl get mosquitoes and frogsong at any resort on Koh Samet ) some of the thai houses have a small water moat around them so don’t leave the door open to long .always spray the rooms with repellent before going out in the evening. Shop on the beach 100 metres away sells red cans of it, for about 80 baht .

The resort main dining room is located in a modern clean complex that includes rooms. In addition there are 30-50 cabins in thai and modern style. It feels like two resorts.

Expect a hectic ferry ride to resort and to unload in knee deep at beach. Beach and resort is clean and nice but service is only average.

Good experience overall! Good free shuttle boat from pier to hotel and back as advertised, Overnight car parking is also available at the pier at reasonable cost. Nice staff from hotel, shuttle boat employees helping hotel guest service with luggages! Good breakfast buffet for the price of hotel room we paid. Nice, clean and quiet beach because the location is not in town, but can easily get a paid tuk tuk for a ride to town! Room is as described and a nice relax feel of a Thai environment! WiFi is very weak and lots of mosquitos, so a must for us to use mosquito repellent spray!

3 Star hotel. Best location on the beach. My biggest concern was the cleanliness of the rooms. We stayed in the cottage section. The showers were absolutly discusting (see pictures attached). When we first arrived I assumed the bathrooms were just old and in need of renewal but on the last day I tried to rub the mould off the walls with a cloth realising the were just filthy dirty and in need of a good cleen. This was proof there is absolutly no antiseptic cleaner used the clean the room. I wouldn't be surprised if the cleaners just gove the floors a quick wipe with the bath towels. I blame managment for this not the workers. Totally unacceptable

The resort was not friendly and catered for all nationalities apart from british , this was evident when it came go breakfast. The member of staff cooking eggs did not break a smile. The beds in the cottages were very uncomfortable and only one pilllow that never counteracted the rock hard bed.

The staff at reception never broke a smile and weren't helpful at all, none of us the world over like going to work but when your in the hospitality buisness l feel you should be making an extra effort in making your guests welcome.

No complaints about the place generally, the beach and setting generally is very nice, the room (I had a cottage) was large, comfortable and clean, very nice shower, and the breakfast was very good. Getting to and from by boat is made very easy. My only complaint is regarding the wifi.

To start, they didn't say anything about it at check-in, and then after searching the room for a password for about ten minutes I realized it's one of those setups that requires both a user name and password (irritatingly common in Thailand), and there's no way to register. So I went down to the office, where they gave me those from a pile preassigned, and indicated good for three days. But I had it expire twice during the three days there, so more walks down to the office.

The big problem was the connection in the room, which was almost non-existent.I eventually figured out that if I walked out about ten feet in front of the porch on the cottage I was into the wifi zone, but inside the unit was hopeless. I mentioned this to the person at the front desk, who said she would talk to her manager, but I never heard anything further. There was an area by the office where I could bring my laptop and have a connection, but that wasn't perfect and it was outside, which meant some mosquitoes at night.

My stay there would have been perfect had I been able to access the web in the evenings in my room, which are kind of quiet at that cove. Instead the wifi was an almost-constant irritation.

Four friends booked a short break at only two days notice. We were looking for a quiet relaxing time next to the beach and we certainly got that. Transfer directly to the hotel beach on Ko Samet, by the hotel boat, worked perfectly. Rooms with every facility imaginable, beside a beautiful well kept beach, along with good food in a well run and friendly restaurant.

We enjoy our stay at Vqngdeuan resort. Nice staff, beautiful place and location. Bed is hard and pillow is too hard. Need a improvement. Hotel food is good. And breakfast lovely.
They need to speed the check in, as they have the boat and we do the check in at the main land in order to get the boat, we should not spend more time at the reception on the arrival on the island. It should be send by msn and the rooms and keys be handle fast.

Nice place pretty quiet and suit short rather than long stay. Dinner was good, Irish Coffee best I have had. Breakfast adequate would be better dropping boiled \"ham\" and sausage in favour of grilled bacon. Would benefit from some beach equipment and mosquito development. Pool side cottage was good value and handy to all hotel facilities.

Great place to get away from a hectic life style

Loved the staff !! Always there to help accommodate whatever your needs are.... the cleanliness of the rooms and the whole place as well as the beach ..... Great Buffet Breakfast with good quality food and good choices .... my 2 friends and I essentially ate there everyday for lunch and dinner as although we did try a couple of other places the food here was the BEST! All of us being animal lovers were thrilled to have made some dog and cat buddies that essentially became our chaperons and mascots... just lovely!! and healthy so obviously well taken care of. We were there to chill out so didn't do any activities or outings although there were some good choices if one wanted to venture out but we were just happy to hang out at the resort or walk down the nice beach ... I would make one other suggestion though in regards to the internet service and that would be to change the system of handing out 1 user ID / password to up to 5 people as some people who were 2 or 3 on different lap tops in a room would over load the system and then you had to go down to the office to get a new log in .. would be better to have individual ones only ... one per person ...

Great beach hotel. Please note, when getting off the boat to the hotel, there is no landing dock. You walk through water. This is lovely, but FYi to people arriving from BKK in shoes and trousers. Note, there are a lot of group tours that seemed to have occupied much of this beach. however, it never had the feeling of being too full.
It is an active beach, not a quiet romantic get away.

Would not recommend the standard room

I would have loved to recommend this resort but unfortunately I can't. The resort itself is beautiful, the staff were okay and the beach is clean. My son and I stayed for two nights in the standard room and while the room iwas clean and comfortable there was absolutely no privacy. Our neighbours in the adjoining room sounded literally like they were in the room with us. From very early in the morning I could hear them clearing their nose and throats, using the washroom and coughing. It was disgusting. If I wished to stay in a hostel with others I would have. I will not be staying there again in the future

Wonderful Beach Resort

I was so happy to find that the beach and water are as clean as I remember from being there several years ago. This is definitely the best resort on the beach. The grounds are well taken care of (They even sweep leaves off the beach) and I found the staff to be very attentive. The restaurant has a varied menu and the prices are much more reasonable than others on the beach. The breakfast is satisfactory and nice to have it included in my room rate. I look forward to returning as soon a I can.
Since it was rainy season their was a symphony of bulldogs all night long. I was able to change rooms to one behind the pool which was much quieter.

Average hotel on a great beach

Location right on a beautiful beach is really great. However, for the price, facilities in the hotel itself are pretty average and there are lots of mosquitoes around each evening (so make sure you take some repellent). Also, hotel is located far from main shopping area on island so they can and do charge double or more for basic things such as hiring a motorbike (500Baht/day vs 200Baht), massage, etc...just because they can. Contrary to advertisement, internet was not available in our room during our 3 day stay despite daily staff assurances it would be. We saw many nicer hotels on the island during our travels around the island. Overall, our time on Koh Samet Island was great and we would definitely visit the island again, but probably check out some other hotel.

cons- Rooms are rather small for the price. Stagnant water around provides luxury for mosquitos. wi fi doesn't connect easily, bathroom could be bigger, geyser is small , doesn't heat water quickly.buffet breakfast time could be extended. reception staff could be more polite.

pros- hardly 1 minute walk to the beach, beautiful swimming pool, plenty of bars and restaurants around ( 100m), peaceful beach, wooden room flooring gives a smoother feel, pin drop silence ( this place not for partying) , nice buffet breakfast, good stuff. boat service is good.

Nice hotel on east side of island

This hotel is one of the best looking on the east side of the island. The breakfast is good w/ an assortment of different items. There is a pool on site and only a few steps away from the beach. This hotel/villa is lit well at night and looks very pretty. You can dine on the beach for dinner; which is nice. The room itself is decent. Has character in that its not modern. There's a small patio/porch which is nice.

MOSQUITO HEAVEN

This resort is set on a lovely beach shared with several other resorts, so is not exactly quiet, but not real noisy either. Lots of other eateries walking along beach.
The resort itself it lovely, but man the mozzies will lift you up and take you away! We had a Thai hut which was small, smaller bathroom if you could call it that (cupboard). The bed was like a rock as with the pillows. I noticed another review where someone mentioned the NOISY frogs at night (I laughed and scoffed) well, he was not kidding. We called it symphony frogs, they would all start up in unision and go for say, 10 minutes then stop. Nearly asleep and whoa, they start up again.
All in all a Sleepless in Seattle stay we had.

Good location, free boat service, but the swimming pool is not good. Mosquitoes will welcome you in your room. You could hear every noise from next door. The sea water is not clear and I think Koh Samet has overcrowded.

Not very accommodating staff!

The motto of this place must be \"the customer is probably wrong\". From check-in to check-out the staff were indifferent and dismissive of any requests. The resort itself was okay, though considering what I paid a bit pricey.

バンペーにオフィスがありそこからスピードボートで直接アクセスできます。
ホテルの前が専用ビーチになっていてのんびりと過ごせます。レストランもビーチ沿いに並んでおり生活はリゾート内で完結できます。他のビーチなどに行くのはやや面倒ですし特にその必要は感じませんので、滞在型のステイ向きですね。欧米人や中国人の家族連れが多かった印象です。
　ロッジスタイルの客室はコンパクトにまとまっていて気持ちよく過ごせます。蚊取り線香は置いていないので気になる人は持っていったほうがよいでしょう。

Helt okej hotell, lite spartanskt men det får man räkna med på öarna. Väldigt bra läge vid en väldigt vacker strand. Det enda riktigt negativa är att det är två rum i varje Bungalow, otroligt tunna vägar, vi hade tur som hade ett lugnt par bredvid oss en av nätterna. Men råkar man hamna bredvid någon mindre nogräknad blir det inte roligt. Plus för att det går att åka speedboat direkt ifrån Ban Phe till bukten där hotellet ligger. Desto mindre tid man behöver spendera vid ”centrum” desto bättre. Dyrare än vanliga färjan, men helt klart värt det.

Super trevlig och hjälpsam personal, både i receptionen och på anläggningen!

Nu till något mindre roligt. Vi åt middag en kväll på hotellets restaurang. Det tog 45 minuter att få in middagen vi beställt. Dumma som var beställde vi dessert som vi väntade på i 1 timme. Tillslut tröttnade vi och tog notan. Då var desserten med på notan trots att vi inte fått någon. Efter lite om och men löste det sig. Men vi gick inte dit igen.

Vi boede i en delt hytte, også selvom vi normalt sover nemt var det fuldstændig umuligt at sove, da vi kunne høre alt hvad vores naboer foretog os. Jeg har aldrig oplevet så tynde vægge på et hotel før. Stedet og stranden er dejlig. Servicen i restauranten er ikke særlig god, manglende opmærksomhed, og langsomme. Næste gang vi jeg helt klart vælge en thai-hytte.

Traumhaft schöne insel resort ist etwas außerhalb vom ,, Pier\" aber gib ein klein Markt in der nähe wo man einkaufen kann für 3-4 tage ruhe genau richtig.Und die insel ist nicht so überlaufen wie koh larn....

Hotel ist sehr schön und direkt am Strand

Frühstück könnte bisschen abwechslungsreicher sein und schön währe wenn gewisse Sachen noch warm wären

Preis Leistung past die ganze Anlage mit st schon ziemlich abgelegt für 4 Nächte okey aber die Better hätten auch Modernisierung nötig

Alles in allem ein schöner Ort und mit Kindern auch zu empfehlen

Smukt sted

Smukt sted med skønne forskellige typer hytter. Pæn og ren samt venlig personale. Stedet er beliggende et godt stykke fra byen, men der kører taxi hele tiden. Stranden er fantastisk, sandbund hele vejen og lavvandet. og der ligger spisesteder rundt hele bugten.
