Lovely large room. Had a plug in fireplace that was a nice touch. Temperature control actually worked. Month of March , full breakfast included. Gym out of commission Quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

Has a lot of potential , wifi should be fixed , loved the candy machine on 2nd floor with tap. On 3rd floor is very quiet , had a good sleep. Overall good value , what’s the point paying for a very expensive hotel in area when you just need a good bed linens and quiet . It served it purpose well. If you are looking for a chic modern luxury place , this is not it. If you are looking for value , quirky , quiet sleep. This one is for you .

There was no hot water for the duration of the stay, even after reporting to the the front desk. The paint was visibly peeling from the walls due to moisture, and the mattresses were had massive indents. All the furniture was damaged and cheap

Parking isn't acceptable when hotel is full. We couldn't find a parking spot when returning on a Sat night at 8pm. The front desk guy acted like he didn’t care when asking for assistance. The outlets must be replaced, plugs fall out constantly ad very unsafe because of it.

The door to the room was not secure, it was not closing properly. The hotel was not very clean, our sheets had large reddish stains. There is very limited parking. The heat in the room was good, water pressure and temperature were good. The pictures on the website look like they were taken a long time ago.

I recommend avoiding this place all together! The elevator was broken and we were on the third floor. We were told that is was getting fixed but another guest told us it’s been broken for well over a year. The staff was not helpful at all, water pressure was a drizzle at best. The room had hardly any outlets including none in the bath room. The whole building was smoking hot even though they said there was no heat on. Amenities non existent. Save yourself the stress and stay somewhere else 😞

Room was basic. Staff lovely. No wheelchair accessible rooms despite request and being give the standard reply of 'may not be available'. They don't exist. No 'may' about it. Also, no breakfast at all. But it is very close to the Dartmouth hospital, beds are comfortable and clean, and if you are well enough the mall nearby is good shopping. There is also an Atlantic Superstore very close and a fridge and microwave in the room. A good budget hotel.

Beds were clean and comfortable; the lobby was really cute.
I am giving three stars because there is definitely some upkeep that needs to be done. We had some rain, and the window leaked, it was an obvious ongoing issue, as the plaster was falling from the ceiling, walls and frames also had quite a bit water damage.
The restaurant is only open weekends (fri/ sat/ sun)
coffee supplies not replaced in rooms daily either.

parking can be a bit difficult, but doable. I liked the location, and ease of getting into Halifax, and the surrounding areas.

the VLT rooms, hallways, stairwells, could use a deep clean.
It appeared the inn is undergoing renovations slowly.

I felt the rooms were noisy, there was a lot of dirt around the door of our hotel room door. What they had advertised for breakfast hours was earlier than the staff were prepared for. This meant we did not have the time we thought we would have prior to our departure for the airport.

Restaurant menu in rooms says it opens at 7:00 am but when we went down at 8:00 ish it was not open and there was some initial confusion about when it would open.

Check in was great, front desk staff was friendly. Room was clean and very comfy bed. A few 🙁 … parking lot had zero lighting! It was pouring rain when we arrived later at night and we couldn’t see a thing. Very weak shower and water pressure. Other guests came back at 2 am slamming doors and yelling at each other. Other than these, loved our stay.

We've stay here before and would stay again in a heart beat! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well supplied. The bed was also very comfortable and the pillows were nice and fluffy. We had supper in the restaurant the fries were amazing! I had Nachos the meat was over cooked which was a bit disappointing. We also had breakast before we checked out. My scramble eggs were delicious! They were missing some items on the menu however and did not offer a substitution. Hotel 10/10 restaurant 6 out of 10. We had great service. Would we eat there again? Probably.

We all know the saying \"Never judge a book by its cover\". That applies to this hotel. From the outside you may be a little wary but keep an open mind. The rooms and hallways have been renovated and our room was very clean and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. You will want a car to get around, but it is about a 20 minute drive to the bridge to Halifax and is close to the highways.

Although the staff was very friendly and check-in was quick, the hotel itself is a little dated. The restaurant was not open for breakfast, but again the staff quickly referred us to a cafe that was fine.
Our room, although quite large, was very dated and not as clean as one would hope. We had a microwave in the room, that we had to clean before we used it - old, dried food was inside the oven. There was popcorn on the floor by the bed and a large sticky spot on the floor that we needed to clean up instead of stepping around it.
Overall, we stay the one night - it was a reasonably convenient location, but I highly doubt that we would stay there again.

There was only one light source in the bedroom (one lamp). Drapes could not be opened without neighboring buildings looking in. The room was located on the second floor.

Difficult to find things in the room at night.

Breakfast not included.

There is a laundry facility (1 washer and 1 dryer) available in the basement. Coin operated ($1.75 per load). Bring your own detergent.

Toilet was clogged & had to be dismantled with us in the room. It smelled like sewer that my kids & I had to just rush out. The front desk offered no alternative for us. When I asked for a different room & if we could stay another night I was told it would $200, twice as much as I booked with Expedia without any consideration for the inconvenience. So I just went back up to the room and grabbed my kids without shower or brushing their teeth. I asked if we could use another room for bathroom use but it was on a different floor and the inconvenience of packing up everything just and walk the common areas in our PJs was just too much so we just decided to leave once and for all.
The cleaning staff was very sympathetic so we still tipped them.

Friendly staff and easy check in experience. Building is older but very clean with some upgrades in each room-new floors, sink and fixtures. Regardless of the hotels age the hotel is clean!
If you have a car this hotel will be convenient. Hotels across the bridge in Halifax were over double in price. Happy that we found this hotel for a great price.
Atlantic Superstore across the road (walking distance), gas station close by, entrance to highway close by, local restaurants within a 5 minute drive. There is a local cafe within a 5 minute walk on the water that services a great breakfast.

Checking in, the lady was not kind to me, seemed to be judging me for staying there, I have no idea. But solo women get that sometimes. Not sure why this is called a Boutique Hotel. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the staff was quick, efficient, and helpful, and the room was clean and well appointed. We didn't check to see what the breakfast options were like as we'd seen a café (the Cottage Café) across the road (which was excellent btw). The only downsides were the limited parking (I parked on the street until I saw someone leave), and the soundproofing. Every time someone opened and closed a door nearby, it sounded like someone was entering our room. But those were both minor issues, and we were happy with our stay. And the cleaning staff were really friendly too.

I hadn't been back to Nova Scotia and my hometown of Dartmouth in 28 years, and to find a nice clean hotel that was in a central location to everything, at an affordable price, was awesome.

The staff are super friendly, the hotel is clean with simple but essential conveniences provided... its perfect!

each room seems to have a theme. the 3 rooms i saw were asian inspired, or african inspired..which i guess was kinda cool. The furniture was quite worn, one room smelled stongly of bleach however walking on the floor with white socks or bare feet was not a good idea as the wooden floor was quite dirty. swept but dirty. one room smelled of old cigaret smoke. but i would stay again as hotels in halifax are rediculously priced now. but look for a deal on expedica or some other place as the 200 price they are currently asking is too high.

The area was very sketchy and the clientele inside was also sketchy. We left and didn’t spend the night, moving on to a better neighborhood. There was drug activity right in the open across the street so we did not feel safe.
