The staff are friendly and eager to do to everything they can to support your stay. I have staid there several times over the past few years and like the location. It is right on the river and a nice small quiet hotel. Food is good. They have a water taxi if you want to go into downtown HCM, which is a fun ride. I like that it offers something different to the large, busy “brand” hotels.

We had a very pleasant stay at Villa Song Saigon. The hotel itself has a lovely colonial style and the staff were friendly and helpful. I accidentally left my mobile phone behind and they were incredibly responsive and sent it by motorbike taxi to me so I could continue my trip with it. Unfortunately the hotel speed boat was out of service when we were there, but the taxi ride to district 1 was fine.

A little disappointing

We booked a twin room but none available, but was given a suite for the last night. The first room had plumbing issues, could not control the hot water! and the shower fitting was broken. A noisey building site next door. Mouldy fruit in the room. Breakfast was not a buffet, the staff had never heard of cereal (cornflakes), only one dish allowed together with only one drink. This is strange as the minibar was refilled daily at no charge. We had to sit for breakfast overlooking the Saigon River which would have been great but for the rubbish. They should invest in a permanent barrier to stop this. We got the impression that they would cater more for their outside guests rather than residents.

Just beautiful

This is a stunning hotel in a beautiful location on the Saigon river with a river taxi to take you into The centre of the city. Sadly does not run after 7pm but taxis are inexpensive. The food is excellent and rooms beautiful, as is the pool. Our only downside, which is no fault of the hotel was noise from building work opposite. Staff, especially the reception staff incredibly helpful. I would definitely recommend for anyone seeking an exclusive, luxury stay away from the big hotels

Better options in Thao Dien than this

Do not stay here. Better options in Thao Dien now. Have put all our clients in this hotel for the better part of a year. We had paid 5.5 nights but had to reschedule which the hotel agreed to by giving us 4 nights. The hotel offered us to stay until December. When we tried to book in November, they have rescinded the free night saying it was good only until October. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else like the Mia Saigon which is 1/3 of the price with better views and service.

Fabulous stay. I was there for a week. Fabulous food ,service and location. But not suitable for someone with mobility issues or wheelchair user as there are many steps and some without hand rails. Great hotel and wonderful staff, Great free speedboat into HCMC.

Great boutique hotel with super staff.
We really enjoyed our breakfast at the river and the water taxi to center.
It’s located in the expat area with some nice restaurants at a 5-10 min drive. The city centre is a 20-40 min by cab.

This boutique hotel has it all. The river-side location is a great escape from the big city. It's helpful staff could not do enough to accommodate our every request. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. And above all, the cleanliness of our room and the pool and dining areas could not have been beaten. We enjoyed our three nights there so much, that we're already planning a return visit.

We stayed at Villa Saigon at the end of our travels. Was correct decision as we wanted to be near restaurants and landmarks but not right in the centre. There are plenty of nice restaurants and bars within walking distance and the speedboat into District 1 was amazing. Taxi back at night was around £4. The hotel is beautiful. Very clean and well maintained. The Sanctuary room was a good size and had everything we needed. The free mini bar was great. The pool area is lovely and relaxing. Breakfast is made to order and was delicious. The Hotel gave me a number of treats for my birthday which made our stay even more special. Would highly recommend this amazing hotel.

The location is excellent as downtown, tourist area of Saigon is chaotic and unpleasant. The Song's boat shuttle to central works perfect to get you into the action, but pleasantly and quickly bring you back to the sanctuary of Song.

And the menu is very good and diversified and the food is outstanding!

If shopping and nightlife is the purpose of the trip, Song is slightly remote. But if cultural experience and access to sites outside of Saigon are primary interest, this is the place to be.

A peaceful enclave!

We stayed as a couple for 3 nights. The room has a standard shower facility and is absolutely spotless. A firm and well supported mattress was a nice change to the usual soft mattresses of chain hotels. Breakfast was included and was an a-la carte format with a good choice of western and vietnamese cuisine. The hotel is located a fair distance from the city and the boat shuttle makes it really easy and fast to access the city center. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

Beautiful hotel with thoughtful service. It was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in and we had such a good experience we are thinking of a return to Saigon to explore this district further and stay longer at Villa Song. We were going to try some different restaurants when we were there but had such a good experience the first night, we ate all our meals here. (We'd arrived five minutes before closing and they treated us so well--made sure the kids had everything they needed, etc.). The front desk seemed to look for every opportunity to do something a little extra for us. We could not have finished off our two week visit to Vietnam on a higher note. High, high recommend.

Away from the hustle and bustle

Even before we arrived the staff at the Villa Song made sure that our stay would flow smoothly by emailing information. We loved the ambience of this small boutique hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of district 1. Our room was large and overlooked the river. Special mention to Moon who was very welcoming and helpful on our arrival. Our spa experience was excellent.

A beautiful Villa on the river

We arrived early and were greeted warmly, offered a complimentary breakfast as we had arrived so early after a long flight from the UK. Checked in promptly and offered shower facilities whilst waiting for our room to be made ready. We were made to feel so welcome. Such a lovely experience. The staff were absolutely fantastic and l cannot speak highly enough of their professionalism and genuine care. We originally only booked in for 2 nights but extended to 3 with no problem. It was just such a lovely place that we decided to stay longer. Located in District 2 it is a calm oasis in the sea of madness that is Ho Chi Minh City. The Hotel operates a complimentary speed boat shuttle into District 1 which is divine and avoids the chaotic but vibrant traffic, which has to be seen to be believed! So many scooters and a traffic system that defies all logic to us here in the west, but it works! A gorgeous salt water pool, a divine choice of breakfasts and truly wonderful staff. Our room was sublime and overlooked the river, the bed divine, what more could anyone ask for. Thank you so much to all of the staff who made our stay a truly memorable experience for our first time in Viet Nam.

Beautifully decorated. Great breakfast. Nice touch to have the breakfast until 10pm and to have free items in the minibar. Also nice to have use of a speed boat into the main city center. I don't mind using the stairs, but it would be even better if the property had a lift :-)

Lovely, luxurious boutique hotel

Villa Song is a beautiful, smallish , luxury boutique hotel. Rooms are beautifully appointed, very clean, very comfortable. Located on the river, it's nice to sit and enjoy a meal watching the traffic passing on the river. The surrounding area is very removed from the bustle of the city, with a few good restaurants and bars, but not much street life. The river shuttle to the city is fantastic, but if you are wanting to go anywhere other than the local area, it is a taxi ride. There is no lift, so be aware if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floor, there are a lot of stairs. The pool area is great. The restaurant is good, great service and a tasty menu, but definitely not cheap. Staff cannot be faulted - very friendly and professional. A great place to wind down after a trip around Vietnam.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Beautiful bedrooms with fantastic amenities, including a complimentary minibar. The hotel is in a quiet setting and not within walking distance to other restaurants, shops or other facilities. It has a complimentary speedboat service to central Ho Chi Minh City, but the last transfer back to the hotel is at 7pm. The swimming pool is lovely and peaceful. The restaurant is very expensive and not up to the quality one would expect for the price and fantastic standard of the hotel generally. However, there are other good restaurants nearby, within a short taxi ride, but most of them are expensive by Vietnam standards. A taxi to district 1 would take around 20 minutes and cost around $7-10 each way.

Wonderful stay in elegant mansion

We arrived a little concerned about our luggage which had been lost at the airport but the manager at Villa Song was reassuring from the start saying it would turn up, and he was right as it turned up 12 hours later. In the meantime the staff were so helpful in many ways. Villa Song is beautiful and feels like a haven from the seething mass of people and scooters in Ho Chi Min. Loved our stay.

I stayed here for two nights then moved closer to the city center after my trip to the Mekong Delta. A nice balance!

Villa Song Saigon is a world class boutique Hotel

Although I would not be considered a world traveler I have stayed at multiple hotels throughout the world and believe Villa Song Saigon is truly a wonderful place for several reasons. The location is great because it is in District 2 which is close to many restaurants and hangouts that Westerners would appreciate. But also they have the courtesy boat that can easily get you into downtown Saigon. It is very quiet location so city noise is minimum. The quality of the rooms and hotel area is amazing. You will notice the attention to every detail and if you appreciate style Villa Song offers. The materials, artwork and furnishings are top tier. Additionally the Staff is incredibly gracious, attentative and friendly. It was a great experience and plan on coming back sometime in the future. Thank you Villa Song Saigon for a wonderful experience.

I wanted a hotel which had character and class away from the city center, this was the perfect choice !

A small boutique hotel with attention to detail. From arrival to department the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much to ask.

The hotel facilities and quality of their furnishing was fantastic. Breakfast was included in the stay, eating freshly prepared food over looking the river was the perfect start to the day.

Hadn't been in Saigon since May 1974; a few changes! The Villa Song is a converted mansion right on the river Breakfast outside (or inside if you prefer). Great food at ant time (The best eggs Benedict my wife has had in many years. Friendly and attentive staff. Wonderful rooms but no elevator; (good for us but some may have difficulty). A speed-boat shuttle to downtown Saigon: :what a treat (but what floats down the river is a bit off-putting).

We stayed her for 3 days after touring Vietnam from the North to the South. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay st Z Villa Song. Great Hotel if you want to be away from the busy City Life. Hotel is in a residential area, so no street food (which we loved and missed ), just restaurants. Pool is great for swimming lengths or just relaxing. Staff are awesome!

Could not praise the staff more; all of them absolutely excellent. Wonderful location on banks of Saigon River. Good, but not great, food; could have done with more oriental choice on menu. Noise from hotel next door was an issue on two evenings, but we visited during the height of the corporate party season just before the lunar New Year, which may have given us a wrong impression. Overall however a real haven of tranquility, comfort, and excellent service.

everything about this hotel is great. It is great looking, with a nice location by the river. the room was nice and well appointed. each room is different we were told. there are only 20 rooms. the hotel has a great feeling about it, and the excellent service of the hotel staff adds to this.
the pool is nice. the hotel quiet.
location wise the hotel is 20 minutes from the central area. there is a hotel shuttle than runs frequently, which you should book. this drops you outside the opera house.
the breakfasts are great, and you are able to order from the a la carte menu. we ate at the restaurant at night, as the food is great and the menu wide. it is on the higher side for HMC, but the worth the extra. again the location and dining room is a great venue.

Fabulous place in HCM

We had two fantastic nights at Vlla Song. From the moment you arrive, the service is delivered impeccably (and not too formally) and nothing is to much trouble. Our suite, the art suite was beautiful and had a lovely view over the river. We ate both nights in the restaurant and both nights from the chefs creation menu. We tried his recommendations (including the apple curry soup) and all were brilliant. The man can cook.
Villa Song is. A fair way out from district one, but that's what makes it such a treat as it's well out of the way of the hustle and bustle and there's a beautiful pool. You can't use the boat shuttle currently (no hotel can drop off downtown on docks at moment) so until sorted there is a shuttle SUV which works just fine.
If staying in HCM and want some R&R especially after a long flight, look no further.

Great place to stay

This is a great hotel, situated in a beautiful vila. The room is a good size and confortable. It has a delicious restaurant facing the river, with a vast menu and excellent food. The staff is very kind. The hotel is not close to the city center, but they provide transportation at regular intervals to and from the city center (about 15 min drive). The internet works well in the room and all over the hotel, although it's not ultra fast.

About 20 mins out of the CBD with a great waterfront location. Very attentive and accommodating staff and hotel. The food was excellent and enjoyed eating by the river and watching the river traffic pass by. Offer pick up and return from CBD regularly each day so if you want to drop in you can.

We showed up late on a Friday night, and instantly had our minds blown. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home, and then there was the location. It was just gorgeous. The rooms were comfortable & beautiful. The food was fantastic too. Best french toast I've ever had.

Fantastic staff! Great stay with terrace along the Saigon River and a wonderful pool to dip into after a day of sightseeing. Spa also available. Several choices in dining ambiance: patio, along the river or in the glass enclosed dining room. Food was excellent. Suite overlooking the river was a wonderful hideaway from the frantic all day buzz of downtown Ho Chi Minh City. Nice touch of free minbar and Apple TV available in guest room!!!

Highly recommended

Fantastic service, immaculate hotel. Highly recommended - the free motorboat into the city only takes 10 minutes too, so although the hotel is away from the action it doesn't take long to get there.
Beautiful pool and lovely breakfast.

Amazing Hotel, Staff and Location

Amazing experience all around. We got there early and they gave us a free lunch while our room was prepared. That room wasn't all the way ready to they upgraded our location. Amazing pool, spa services and food. 100% of the staff exceeded our expectations. Well worth the price for the all around outstanding experience. This is an experience we will remember. The shuttle boat to the City center made exploring easy and cabs back are super cheap if you want to stay out late.

Thank you all for a wonderful stay, I hope to be back in the near future!!

More than perfect

Staying at Villa Song bring perfection on your SAIGON experience. The place is so relaxing, the bed so comfortable, the staff so nice, the shuttle boat so convenient, the food so delicious.

Personalized service and colonial elegance

The staff was attentive and friendly from the moment we stepped foot into the hotel, it felt like they really cared and wanted to make our stay special and this was a new experience for us in Vietnam where we have stayed before in big chain hotels which are more impersonal. This is what Vietnamese hospitality is about, not perfection but a perfect and genuine desire to please. We mostly loved the shuttle boat to the center, allowed us to be away from the madness of the center especially these days with the construction and traffic jams yet be only a boat hop of about 10 minutes away enjoying a scenic ride on the river at the same time. The rooms are very comfortable especially the beds, we loved that we could hook up our computers and Ipad through the apple TV provided in the room for guest use and the free mini bar was a nice touch even though we most enjoyed sipping the house made cocktail sitting by the river in the hotel's lush gardens (the mojito is particularly nice, the martini not bad).

Beautiful hideaway in HCMC

One of the nicest hotel rooms we've ever had with a lovely terrace overlooking the river. Beautiful pool area and great food. Downtown is accessed via free speedboat which is fun but if you want to travel outside of scheduled trips is a fairly long taxi ride. Will stay there again.

Lovely riverside colonial hotel

We loved this hotel, it is a colonial style boutique hotel with attentive staff and a very convenient boat shuttle to the center of the city. It is like being away in a resort yet a short trip to the center of the action and fun.

Quiet retreat

weretreat we were very pleased with this hotel. It is out of the city but the hotel runs a speed boat into the centre which was much more fun than taking a taxi. The hotel itself is very serene with a beautiful pool at the rear and a terrace overlooking the river at the front. Our room was rather small and the curtains are flimsy and do not keep out the light. The hotel is about to undergo a refurbishment and provided the prices stay the same I think that it will be a great place to stay and would highly recommend it to travellers who prefer together away from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh city.

Great Hotel......but out of the city

The hotel is situated in a gorgeous colonial villa and has a lovely quiet location right next to the river -but is quite a distance from the city - at least a 15 min taxi ride. There do not appear to be any restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel so its either eat at the hotel (quite pricey) or a taxi ride. We did not have dinner at the hotel but the breakfasts were first class. Overall to be recommended if you like life on the quiet side or have no desire to be in the city (which to be fair is totally manic).

The lovely Thao Dien Village

This was a great hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very spacious with a nice bathroom and a comfortable bed. Even though there isn't very much to do around the area it was nice to relax as it was very quiet, away from the noisy city. Would definately reccomend this hotel however meals at the restaurants were expensive.

Thao Dien Village

First visit to Vietnam. Glad I chose Thao Dien Village for this stay. All I can say is I would highly recommend this establishment to any and all travelers to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City.
There is nothing but stars for this establishment. Staff, food, accommodations, amenities, responsiveness, all 4 to 5 star.
Great place to stay, and I definitely would again in a heartbeat.

Thao Dien Authentic Spa in District 2 Ho Chi Minh

This was the most beautiful, welcoming hotel with attentive staff and beautiful views over Saigon River.
Our room was comfortable and spacious, albeit on the second floor (no lift) which would be difficult for some. We enjoyed the exercise.
The food and drinks were delicious and not expensive.
We took two river trips starting on the jetty leading from the hotel garden where we had breakfast watching the riverboats passing back and forth.
Hotel courtesy bus ran twice daily, and taxis were about $5-$8 including tip to city centre and approx 20 - 30 minutes.
There were four restaurants in the grounds, and the only change we would make would be to have the Vietnamese restaurant as the main one instead of the Italian.
We had two massage treatments which were both excellent.
The only thing which was not offered, and would have made the hotel experience just about perfect was a water taxi to district 1.

Relaxing break from the bustle of HCMC

We stayed 2 nights at Thao Dien Village. It was a really relaxing break during our time in Ho Chi Minh City. We enjoyed the pool, the beautiful building and eating meals by the river watching the boats go past.
There is not very much else to do in this neighbourhood (District 2 - home to many rich families and expats and some large international schools) but there is a shuttle once a day into downtown and the taxis are cheap. It takes approximately half an hour.
The hotel was a little quiet while we were there so eating dinner was a little strange without many other diners. I think on weekends the place is much busier since there is a water puppets show at the Vietnamese restaurant. The Italian restaurant has excellent food and the waiters speak better English than at the other on-site restaurants.

Thao Dien Village -An Phu

Thao Dien Village represents all that is great about Vietnam.
The village is calm relaxed and well designed from the moment you leave the road.
The rooms are comfortable and stylish and the location on the river is are real bonus.
The pool and spa facilities are superb and the hotel staff are always very helpful.
After the frenetic pace of the city it it true bliss to escape to a place that feels so peaceful.

Great Food, Okay Service, Far Location

Thao Dien Village is quite a prized-find at Ho Chi Minh. Great scenary, beautiful hotel architecture, and excellent Italian food in the form of Villa Romain.

Service by most of the staff were attentive and polite - though one wished they spoke slightly better English.

The stay was marred by the hotel room - Repeated electrical trip and faulty doors, and the technician/electrician took a long time to look into it. It was at least more than an hour. This happened for 3-4 times when we finally got our room changed.

The meals at Villa Romain were noteworthy and service staff prompt.

The location at District 2 is really a little far. Unless you plan to stay at the hotel all day. A cab trip to District 1 would set you back by more than US$10 at times and 30 mins.

Overall, thank you to all at Thao Dien.

Beautiful hotel by the river

This hotel is a beautiful, colonial style building by the river which is an oasis of calm away from the hubub of Ho Chi Minh City. it's about 20 minutes in a taxi, but for us the experience of staying in such a lovely location more than made up for the fact it was located out of town. We were glad we did not let that put us off, as it made the visit to HCMC much more relaxing.
The hotel has a lovely pool, and a delicious Italian restaurant by the river.
The rooms are nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The staff are very polite and helpful, often going out of their way to help.
My only criticism was the housekeepers were quite noisy early in the morning shouting up and down the stairwell and knocking on our door for housekeeping at 8.30am in the morning, a little early for me when I'm on holiday!
Otherwise a lovely place and would definitely recommend and return.

Great colonial style boutique hotel

We loved the hotel colonial style and the fact that it is homey and feels like a home away from home. The views make you feel like you are in a resort type of environment rather than a hotel a short distance from the center of a 10 million people city. We also enjoyed the fact that the hotel has many facilities on site with a big spa and gym, a swimming pool, and several restaurants. We even managed to book a tennis game. The service overall was friendly and attentive, maybe less crisp than some of the 5 stars in town but more personal and at a good standard plus overall this was really good value for money (small tip the standard rooms are very nice but the Suites are stunning and for the small difference in price are really worth it if you want to treat yourself).

At the end of January, my wife and I were in Ho Chi Minh City for a few days. We had been tipped off about Villa Song, a so-called boutique hotel.

We usually stay in chain hotels, because I fool myself into thinking that my status with the chains will make us have a better experience.
We have tried boutique hotels before and been very satisfied, so we should really do it more often.

And that will be the case after this experience. We were very well received when we arrived at 10pm, everything was ready and no problems. That was to be the tone of the stay. The service was incomparable, no question too big, none too small.

Our room met our expectations, and then some. Large, airy and with an open solution towards the Song River from our own balcony, it was
absolutely clear that the evenings would be spent on the balcony.
It should be mentioned that the balcony is exposed to the restaurant below and if you are sensitive to sound, it could be annoying, for us it was not a problem.

Breakfast is served a'la carte and all meals can be served right on the riverbank. Great experience and delicious food.

The hotel has a saltwater pool, which we think is absolutely excellent, chlorine is not good for your skin.

We had a few small misunderstandings based on language, it's not easy when both parties communicate in a foreign language. But everything was always resolved with a smile good laugh.

A bit uncentral, but there is a free shuttle by boat.

We highly recommend the hotel.
