Room was not huge but it was very clean and comfortable. WiFi worked well and so did the in-room safe. When I arrived the AC took forever to cool the room, but once it did, it worked fine. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is very close to the beach, and to the ARA where you could get beer and guaro to carry around. There's a stairway to get into the hotel; however, if you really need it, there's an elevator they'll set up for you. Overall a very good stay.

Don’t stay here if you want to sleep well.

It was very noisy. The hotel is on a corner and all the locals party below the hotel along the one street (Carrera 3) every night loudly and until very late (3am). We stayed here several nights and didn’t sleep well due to the noise and the quality of the windows not blocking the noise much at all. Felt like we were sleeping on the street volume wise.

Positives: foot wash station at hotel entrance for after the beach. Hotel has towels you can take to the beach.

The only thing is the parking. They don't have parking spaces you have to parking in the street. The good thing is the hotel provides vigilance from 6pm to 6am. That parking problem is something that runs in the all Rodadero area.

The hotel has a great location at Rodadero. Two blocks away from the beach makes is a sweet spot for any visitor. I loved the fact that it is surrounded by so many options to eat and different shops to get those toiletries that I might have forgotten to pack. I would stay there again and again. Thanks.

Overall, this is an average hotel category, they have old towels and old linen, breakfast is good and healthy. The Manager cares every comment from guest and tried to resolve any issue. Staff was friendly AFTER the check in when they were charging us IVA knowing that we have residency in USA, we refused to pay the fee because we were told by CheapTickets that fees and taxes were included in our reservation. Also the room didn’t have closet which is important for us, during our 4 days stay we kept our clothes in the suitcases. Location is good and close to everything. We missed the gym, there’s none, pool was clean and small, however we didn’t use it.

The staff here are amazing. Very knowledgeable about the area and helpful. The property was spotless and the breakfast staff lovely- couldn’t ask for better.

The negatives: the beds!!! They are like sleeping on a box spring. VERY hard on your back. Zero flexibility or softness. Terrible beds. Also this location is located in a very noisy area and the building isn’t even slightly sound proof. These two things make for not a very restful sleep

This property is listed in Santa Marta- it is not. The surrounding neighborhoods is less than desirable. Very loud at night with windows closed. Have to take a cab into Santa Marta to catch bus to Tyronna or to Minca. Cab to Minca from here reasonable. Hotel was clean, but open breakfast area meant you fought birds from your plate. I would never book this place again due to location, neighborhood, and noise at night

Great hotel but watch out!

I was happy overall however, I had to pay the IVA tax for my girlfriend. The staff at the hotel said that it was because the reservation was also in her name, however I only put her as one of the occupants. Regardless I had to pay it. I would’ve liked to have been made aware of that since it was a bit of a nasty surprise at the very end. Other than that, the hotel was great, clean and had good service.

Location is central in Rodadero area and convenient to local sights - although neighborhood seemed rather desolate the night I was there.
Staff is helpful - although could be more friendly and welcoming to guests.
Included breakfast is basic, but good.
This was my 3rd stay at hotel and will probably return anytime I need to be in Rodadero area.

What an oasis! Clean, friendly staff, relaxing area around the pool when you want to escape the busy beach, which is only. Afew minutes walk away. Breakfast offered something for everyone - amazing amount if choice in the buffet. This was the gem of our 2 week trip. Would definitely recommend!

Rodadero is cool.

Its a nice place to spend a few days. Rodadero beach is great for kids because there are no waves but it gets rather crowded. The food was good and pretty cheap. Weather was great the entire stay of a week. I met some nice folks here and will come back and stay at the same place.

Lovely bright rooms. AC great. Internet great. No staff spoke english but that is typical in Colombia. Seems they forgot a few things in the room like towel bars, hand towels and toilet paper holder. Also the pool is too small to swim in.

Really enjoyed this hotel which was just south of Santa Marta which is a much nicer area than the bigger city of Santa Marta. In walking distance of beach, restaurants and whatever else you want. Staff was quite helpful and the pool was fabulous after the hot days : )

Location is missleading at some booking pages, it showes it's postion in the city center of Santa Marta where it is NOT! It's in Rodadero.
We wanted to extend the stay and the reception told us the hotel is full, after booking it online it was possible...
The shower was only cold water many times.
The rooms to the street are very noisy...
The room itself is alright and clean.

My 2 friends and I had a great stay at Hotel Del Mar. The hotel is very contemporary and clean. The room we had was very simple, but well appointed. Hotel staff was very friendly. They assisted us with arranging some transportation, as well as providing information on things to do. Being on a bustling street was fun. Shopping and restaurants were just steps away. It seemed that we were never more than a 10 minute walk from our room. The area around the hotel seemed to be safe. Complimentary breakfast, as well as bottled water was provided. The beds could have been a little more comfortable. Other than that, I have no complaints.

This was my 3rd stay at Del Mar hotel in rodadero Santa Marta and once again the staff goes above and beyond. Highly recommended!
Clean comfy rooms, strong wifi, hot water, small fridge, AC, flat screen cable tv, delicious breakfast, 24 hour security guard, 24 hour front desk, always friendly and attentive staff, perfect location.

Great hotel close to Roadero Beach. The hotel was clean and modern. The staff were great, very helpful with Taxis, printing boarding passes etc. Nice free breakfast. The pool was under renovation and will be great once it is open. Only about a block and a half to the beach and dozens of dining options within blocks.

The best of the best!

This was my second stay at Del Mar hotel. First stay was 2 nights and this stay was 7 nights. This has to be the best hotel period. Friendly staff all around from the front desk, the cleaning staff, breakfast staff and security guards. All were happy to help with any questions or acomidations. Rooms are clean and comfy, hot water and A/C, great location, 2 small blocks from the beach and walking distance to everywhere in rodadero and for the price per night this cannot be beat. Oh and the breakfast is the best. We ordered delivery one night it was raining and to my surprise the security guard was with the delivery guy when he made the delivery to our room. How awesome is that! Of course the next day I thanked the guard $ for that.

I always ask for a room not overlooking the Main Street to ensure I get a quiet room. There can be some outside noise depending on room location but that is normal for most hotels in the area. My fiancé lives in Santa marta so I have been going and staying in rodadero. I am thankful I found this hotel. Already have reservations for my next visit in September. My pictures I added are from pictures I took outside. The inside is what you see on the hotel site.

We arrived around 10am and were checked-in within 5 minutes. Even got a balcony room on request. No issues at all - service, security and personnel all very kind and helpful. Breakfast is nice. Hotel 2 minutes from the beach and very very close from shops, restaurants, supermarket, etc.. in other words: center. Highly recommended. Rooms are spacious and have a nice bathroom and fridge. No issues there. All in all, highly recommended for the price you are paying!

Friendly and nice people at Desk Front. Good breakfast buffet, nice servers and god cleanness at the hotel every day. It is a secure hotel to stay, because there are security cameras everywhere and security guard at the entrance of the hotel. The price per night looked to me high, BUT I understand that I stayed there at high season and business are a matter of offer and demand. Due to it is a little town close to so many beaches and Eco parks, it is so crowded with quiet Colombian tourists with their families at high season; and people and so many things to do there are pretty informal. (I mean not rules for everything outside the street) then, could happen that you could hear a lot of noise in your room at night coming from the streets; but the good news is that this miss up, little by little works like a magic medicine to relax the stress at the mind and the body; an you will start to feel different. If you plan visit it, take with you a pair of Pre-shaped foam earplugs to get a beautiful night sleep; then early in the morning enjoy the beautiful chirping of thousands and thousands of birds and little parrots flying over and over between the trees before the sunrise. Even so, the town still do not meet the Tourist International Standards and there is so much to do, BUT that place is open for the imagination of smarts and very aggressive investors, that could become that place in a magic paradise the round year for a cheap price per tourist. (That's my opinion).

This is the hotel you need. Rodadero, Santa Marta. The staff people are superb, cordial, attentive, and go out of their ways to accommodate you. My wife fell ill during our stay and they even gave us an extended checkout time to give her time to feel better.

Fantastic Service, Great Value, Nice Property

The customer service amazed from the moment we arrived. All the team, but especially Hammer, were fantastic, and appreciate their warm greetings and offers of assistance throughout our stay. This hotel delivers service far above it's rate and star rating. It's a short 1.5 blocks from the beach, and in the midst of restaurants and shops in the Rodadero beach neighborhood. Safety not a concern in this neighborhood. It's a newer property, so crystal clean and attractive with reliable air conditioning (essential). Please remember the rate and value, as the rooms are spotless and attractive but very sparse, to say the least; no closets or drawers for clothing, no hangers or such to hang and dry swimwear, so just accept that in advance. Now about the beds, this is really the only disappointment. About the firmest bed I've slept on in years, actually made me think back decades to my old college dorm bed. But given their customer service and cleanliness, and compared to other nearby properties I saw, I'd definitely stay back at the Del Mar. The nearby beach is good, calm waters during our vacation, perfect for kids if you happen to have them along with you. Have patience with the tons of vendors trying to sell goods on the beach, it can be overwhelming at first, but you quickly get used to it and they're friendly. After they get the idea that you aren't going to buy anything they won't bother you as much.

one big mistake , unfortunately when I got there they don't let me check in because I need to showed them my passport, I had my I.d. but that document is not accept it, for safety reasons I don't travel with my passport inside my country, took me one hour or so to find a way to someone send me copy of my passport , they need to be specific and they rules and policies about documentation.
