Beautiful location and customer service was outstanding. The only issue we had was mainly the location and inability to charge devices in your lodge - devices needed to be left with reception to charge. While they had set times for free water taxis into Bocas Town, if you needed to leave outside of these times, it could cost anywhere from $15-$30USD/person for a one-way trip from local water taxis (well beyond the typical $1-$5USD/person for travel if you're in town). If you're looking to do lots of exploring and island hopping it may be a bit more of a hassle, but if you're looking to relax and disconnect, this is the place for you! Major shoutout to the staff for being so accommodating during our stay :)

The lady at reception was amazing. Always helpful and kind. The same with the breakfast staff and the boat operators. However, some things are not evident on Hotels.com website. First, each bungalow functions on a marine battery, which powers the lamps and ceiling fans only. I use a CPAP medical device which would not run on such a low voltage. I would have brought a battery pack for mine if I had known in advance. The bungalow itself is two floors and I found the steep stairs to be challenging at times. The back of the bungalow is open and a nice ocean breeze flows through. It rained a few times with the wind so the rain came inside through the \"window\". Use the provided plastic container for your electronics or valuables. You have to charge any electronics at reception. It would be wise to charge things like a battery bank at that spot and then charge more expensive items from your battery afterwards.
The food served in the restaurant was average.

It was very nice and very serene. Nice little getaway. The water right outside the porch your private porch is great. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is your place. No TV, no fridge no outlets so I just suggest bring some power banks and you can charge at the front desk. The staff was nice and I believe the owners were there too and were super nice. We also got to see a few dolphins swimming close to our bungalow a couple of times.

This is such a cool place! Beautiful surroundings and a unique experience. It is rustic, but a fun adventure. You must climb up and down quite steep stairs to get to the bedroom. Unfortunately, we had lots of rain, so took the water taxi into town and did some exploring. We went to red frog beach. Beautiful! Staff are nice. Food good. Not many vegetarian options, but overall good. We kayaked and snorkeled. Beautiful! I highly recommend.

Expedia sold me a \"package deal\" for flight and stay. Expedia failed to deliver, they only providing a flight to Panama and no flight to Bocas. Nor was any of this mentioned or disclosed that you would be responsible for the additional in the \"package deal\" I contacted Expedia 2-weeks before the trip to get this issue resolved. They were NO HELP. Then I contacted this resort directly via email and phone to try to change my check in date to accommodate the additional flights needed to get to Bocas and the resort. They NEVER replied, or answered the phone to provide help or to make the situation right, or even the common courtesy to email me back or answer the phone. I was taken advantage of, and ALL of the money I spent on this trip was down the drain. Very upset and disappointed.

This was the perfect ecolodge on the water! Maria, who owns and manages the lodge, always went over and above for our family to arrange day trips/boat rides to town and provided amazing travel guidance. We needed to charge our phones at reception but it was a small price to pay for a beautiful and unique Panama experience with great rooms and gorgeous views. We ate our breakfasts and lunches on site but preferred the restaurants in town for dinner. Our teens loved it and want to go back! Highly recommend!

It was very unique. I highly recommend it. Some suggestions to make it more unique include: allowing us to charge phones in our rooms; make it more eco friendly by having people fill up water bottles from a main dispenser rather than small single use bottles. We liked the fact that the kayaks and snorkels were included. More local food choices on the menu.

No hay aire acondicionado (la temperatura es de casi 35 grados y la humedad altísima)

Cuando llueve, el agua se mete por los techos, mojando todo.

Solo hay electricidad para un par de focos.

La actitud del staff es muy negativa. Nada se puede!

Yo tenía reservado por 4 noches pero sólo aguantamos 1 y nos cambiamos a otro hotel.

Se negaron rotundamente a reembolsarme las 3 noches no ocupadas.

Todo muy frustrante y desagradable!

A beautiful place to relax and unwind, the location is unmatched and a bit remote but there is a restaurant and great service from all the staff! It was a hut on the water if you want luxury accommodations you will need to go to a luxury resort, we enjoyed the rustic feel and the tranquility!

We were very disappointed in the property. Water: They did tell us not to drink it, even to brush your teeth and provided 2 small bottles of water per person per day. This is not enough water in such hot climate (we ended up purchasing water throughout the day). We have stayed at other self contained properties that did not have potable water and they just put a 5 gallon water jug and dispenser in the room so we are ok with that. It also smelled so bad you couldn't even shower in it, it literally made us gag. Food: I ordered salad with tuna. I got iceberg garnish lettuce with a few chunks of canned tuna sprinkled around. Yes CANNED. And not the good kind, the kind that smells like cat food. I would have thought given the location it would be fresh fish? The olives on the salad were spanish cocktail olives (vs black olives) green stuffed with pimentos. On a tuna salad? Dinner we ordered seafood and rice. The seafood was like rubber. All of it. The scallops, the octopus. It was terrible and we couldn't even eat it. The breakfast \"omelet\" with ham was strips of boiled lunchmeat ham and what tasted like Velveeta liquid cheese. Terrible.
Staff: we always felt like we were inconveniencing them when ordering water, drinks or food (which is not included and we paid extra for). I might have understood this if it was an all inclusive. They weren't friendly or welcoming. We really wanted to like the place but would not recommend to anyone.

Punta Caracol is a little slice of heaven. The cabins are very quaint and comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the views are spectacular. Staying over the water was like being on top of an aquarium. If you love nature and sea life, this is a must see! We loved every minute!

There are good and bad things about my stay. Let me start with the good. Very friendly staff. Great food & drinks (inexpensive). Good snorkeling. Beautiful water and coral. Lots of sea life. Dolphins. Sting rays. Barracudas. Kayaking was also nice.
Now the bad. The huts need alot of updating! I realize the eco-friendly vibe, but many of the deck boards need replacing. They have nails sticking up and rotted boards throughout the main walk way. The deck chairs are very uncomfortable and heavy. They only have a very thin yoga mat on them to lay on. There is no air conditioning which would not be a problem if the fans worked properly. Some nights they worked others they did not? Same goes for the minimal lighting in the huts, along with hot water? Hit or miss I guess. I have no idea???
Overall, it was a good experience, even though it sounds primitive... Which it is! If I ever went again I would only go for two or three nights. It is way too hot to not have the fans operating properly at night time! It's the least they can do without having air conditioning. It is very very humid there and uncomfortable when you are trying to sleep at night.
I know the entire staff do the best they can to make guests comfortable, they are great. However the owner needs to address some of these issues to make for a more enjoyable stay.

This property is extremely quiet but an undisclosed $60 round trip ride to town. ROOM: No airflow at all, there are fans but they are very weak. We got eaten by mosquitoes at night and had massive roaches in our empty drink glasses in the morning. No electrical other than lights. Not provided with daily water as they stated- this is a lie. They charged $2.75 per bottled Costco water.
FOOD: Horrible! I was charged $13 for a Costco white bread sandwich with no condiments, wilted lettuce, smooshy tomato, canned olives, one piece of cheese, I added ham for an additional $3. There were finger prints where they mashed it to cut it in half. The food in the photos is NOT what you are receiving. This is bait and switch - it's NOTHING like it looks.
FREE BREAKFAST: This is a lie - everything is individually charged and ended up being almost $30 if you wanted a full breakfast - butter was even $1, milk for coffee: $3, toast: $3, eggs: $6, etc.
ISLAND: Not a relaxing hangout as it looks. There were turantulas scampering all over the trail into their dens.
SNORKELING GEAR: NOT FREE - this is a lie. They charge $30 for a set.
SERVICE: The staff is extremely rude. The young girl taking our order actually told us we were one minute early and made us wait 1 minute because it was 11:59 before she'd take our order, then she tapped her pen against her leg out of irritation because we were deciding.
Owner lied about refund for stay- never received! She did credit the 1 meal we ate there.

First, I should note that this place is set in a really beautiful place in Bocas and being able to jump off the deck was pretty awesome. However, the place is a bit dated with areas in need of restoration. My biggest complaint was the relative price of everything, particularly the food, compared to the rest of our experiences both in Panama and Bocas itself. The food was really expensive and absolutely nothing to write home about. My wife and I literally laughed when I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich for $10 and literally got two slices of ham, two slices of American cheese slices and three slices of cheap white bread, no sides. Another weird thing is that they make you decide what you want for dinner in the morning, its kind of an annoyance, particularly when you kind of just want to order from a menu, which we never actually figured out if that was an option for dinner or not. If you are looking for the experience to live in a hut over the water, that is what you are paying for, not the food, not luxury interior, and not the amenities. This was our least memorable experience over our two week Panama journey. In all fairness, the staff was nice and helpful.

Beautiful and peaceful environment, perfect to recharge your batteries. Enjoyed some kayaking in the mangrove and swimming in the clear turquoise water. A bit rustic inside but it's all part of the charm. Service was good and staff was kind.

This property was more off the grid and rustic than I originally expected. But I quickly adjusted and it surpassed my expectations. Ideal Panama hut on the water experience. Honestly one of the most stunning destinations I’ve ever visited. It is so incredibly peaceful and the sunrises are unbeatable. The cabins aren’t incredibly up to date but it isn’t necessary in my opinion, the look is very charming. There is no electric sockets in the cabins but you can charge any devices in the restaurant/bar area anytime you like. The free snorkel equipment and kayaks are great too!

Great hotel and lovely views across the sea. Staff are very friendly and attentive to your needs and requirements. There’s a free shuttle water taxi that oppresses across from Bocas however note checking pick up times in advance to avoid any disruption.
A great place and certainly gets a 10 out of 10 from me.

Beautiful location but beware of no AC

Location amazing for watching fish right from your room. Very hot - you will end up sleeping downstairs in hopes of catching a breeze. Using kayaks and snorkel gear a huge plus. You can snorkel right off the lodge and see tons of fish. Look for the black eagle rays swimming around. They are BEAUTIFUL!

Wonderful service in this unique hotel. Expensive, but a good value because the water taxi and taxi are included both ways, breakfast and dinner are included, the excellent snorkel equipment is included, kayaks are available to use for free, and the service is excellent. I would think if you wanted to take a lot of day trips around Bocas that you would want to stay in town for a day or two, as getting around might be expensive, but we did not leave the hotel.
It was so fun to stay out over the water and the snorkeling and swimming right off your own balcony was excellent. It is an eco-friendly hotel, so there was only a little bit of light and a weak ceiling fan in the room (no hair dryer, no A/C.) It is a two-story suite with a bathroom and living/sleeping area downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. There was not a breeze the night we were there so it was quite hot and humid (we were there during the rainy season) without an air conditioner, but I fell asleep quickly and slept the whole night.

An amazing experience from start to finish. The staff were exceptionally warm and kind going out of there way to help in anyway. They were especially fantastic towards my 2.5 year old spending time to talk and explore with her. We spent our days swimming, swinging in the hammock and exploring the mangroves.

Punta Carocol Lodge / Resort Excellent Setting

We chose the Punta Carocol Lodge / Resort for its setting with rooms over the water. The rooms were adorable with thatched roofs, spacious living space downstairs and the bedroom on a second floor. The lodge is ecologically themed with solar power and other ecological initiatives.

The lodge picked us up at the Bocas Town airport and took us via water taxi to the resort. The hotel is only accessible via water taxi so if you wish to go to Bocas Town to visit you must take the 15 minute trip via the water taxi.

The restaurant is in a large open air thatched building that has 360 degree views of the water. The food is delicious, locally sourced with many of the offerings being seafood.

While there we visited Bocas Town for some shopping, sightseeing and eating. We had a delightful trip provided by the Lodge to Starfish Beach for snorkeling, shopping and eating and spent time snorkeling and kayaking off the deck of our room.

A GREAT ADVENTURE

Snorkeling off of your veranda or kayaking the reefs and mangroves. The crystal clear waters provide you a great way to view the sea life the surrounds this area.
You get three choices for all 3 dishes served at dinner and those are done well and there is a lot of it. There are no outlets to charge your phone or other electronics so we brought our own battery pack for that purpose. You can take your devices to the restaurant area where they have a place to charge your devices, but we chose to bring our own.
The staff is super! Friendly and willing to help anyway possible. Be sure to bring lots of insect spray as the \"noseeums\" are really bad!
The in house water taxi will take you to town for any tours that you would like to take or just to see Bocas Town and the various restaurants and night life.

We only stayed at Caracol for two nights. Was at another rental first two nights and their boat picked us up right at the dock of our other rental. Staff were very welcoming and nice. The hut was clean but there is no air-conditioning in the entire facility so it's like an eco-lodge. The water is right there just we just jumped into the open water whenever we need to cool ourselves down. We did get a very nice breeze late at night and had to pull the blanket (bed sheet) up. We did not do much at all and just relax at the lodge.

Over the water bungalow beyond expectations.

Arrived on a rainy, blustery day but the two full days were simply gorgeous. The staff went out of their way to help us with activities and accommodated our food and drink requests. I was unable to go in the water due to an injury and they were so helpful. I didn't need to go in the water though. It was so crystal clear that I could see so much sea life right under our walkway. The choices for the dinners and breakfasts were better than some restaurants. We especially enjoyed Jorge and Ishmael and Norberto.

Romantic secluded getaway

20 min boat ride from Bocas del Toro town takes you to only by boat reachable small resort entirely on the gorgeous clean and transparent water. You don't need snorkeling gear to watch numerous fish, star fish and sea urchins, including elegant manta rays. There is no typical beach at the Lodge, but you can swim of your acqua lodge and also use free kayaks. A nice sandy beach is another 20 min boat ride away. We went once, as we preferred quietness and desolation of the resort. There was internet available if really needed, but no TV and no world drama while there. Restaurant served excellent freshest food and fish was delicious. Service was friendly, efficient and just about perfect. We met the owner and had a nice friendly discussion about everything and felt really welcome.

Beautiful and peacful

Perfect getaway! Getting to it is a little less than pleasant. I recommend flying into Bocas deal Toro from David. Avoid Almirante and the water taxis if at all possible. The resort itself is well worth the trip to get there!
