Very formal hotel. Staff efficient and helped me with charger. Restricted dinner menu but good. Breakfast served to order Room very austere and dark because French window had permanent roman blind. Ciuld not open shutters and window due to heavy traffic noise. Bedroom doors banged heavily till late at night. Comfortable bed Good bathroom. Clean. Lots of arr work in foyer but bare bedroom walls meant the room was soulless. I was staying overnight as i had to stay unexpectedly in Figueres. Rooms at rear probably quieter.

An unexpected gem

We stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a longer trip through Spain and Andorra.
The welcome was warm and beyond being helpful.
The food was outstanding (note: LUNCH appears the be the main focus rather than evening meal, but we had both and could not fault anything)
The hotel location may well be on the edge of town but it is a very short and easy stroll. And then Figueres itself was a really quirky little place.
For a random \"point the finger on the map\" stay we could not have been happier

So good we stayed an extra night

Warm and friendly welcome at reception, room spacious, well appointed and clean, bar and restaurant staff friendly and efficient. Food in the restaurant elegantly presented and served by white jacketed wait staff. The hotel is on the outskirts of Figueres but is a comfortable walk to the charming old part of town and the Dalí museum. I have some mobility problems and I managed to walk it twice in 1 day.
The only thing that we found was that the air-con didn’t work in our room. Not a problem for us in early May but might not be too good in the height of summer however we did notice that the maintenance standards were very high and have no doubt that will be sorted before then.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked an extra night. Lovely hotel that we can thoroughly recommend.

Great location

I had a lovely view across the flat land to the Alps and saw a great lightening storm which lit up the whole sky and danced across the top of the mountains. Hotel location a nice walk of about 10 Minutes to the Dali Museum and therefore to restaurants and cafes. Staff very friendly and helpful and I’d not hesitate to stay there again. Room was great, spacious and very comfortable. Jacuzzi in the bath a real and welcome bonus.

Surprisingly good hotel in strange location

Once inside the hotel it was pleasant and calm, but being beside a very busy made me wonder at first how comfortable we would be. In the bedroom the shutters kept the noise out completely. So noise not a problem for us.
The restaurant was a big disappointment - very expensive and we had not brought the sort of formal dress clearly required . We were on holiday and had only brought casual clothing.
The outside area was also a disappointment. I had chosen the hotel because of the garden, but the garden was only a strip of grass with no seating.

Serendipitous Revelation

French rail strike meant an unexpected stop in Figueres and overnight at Hotel Empordà. The staff was very welcoming and went beyond expectations. The room was comfortable but spartan in decor. The jacuzzi was most welcomed. The El Motel restaurant attached to the hotel was a very pleasant surprise. The food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the staff who were knowledgeable and eager to please. All in all a great unexpected treat.

The hotel is in transition under new management, they have inherited some problems but I think the future will be positive when some remedial work is carried out. The restaurant is high quality, however I feel there should be arrangements within the complex for lighter meals.

We originally planned to stay one night but the town is very cute and the hotel so nice we decided to add another night. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel are excellent. Front desk staff is very accommodating and the room is soacious, clean and comfortable. Location is a big plus! Easy 7-8 minute walk to town.

Traditional hotel with smoking drawbacks.

Very nice hotel. Used as overnight stay on drive down from England. Food in restaurant was good but a little on expensive side. Was disappointed in Restraunt when people at 2 nearby tables began smoking (one with a large cigar!) they were sat near window but smoke still blowing across - not acceptable in U.K. so why in Spain? Not sure if there were no smoking tables but we were not asked or given options.

Nice modern facility at the outskirts of town. Good restaurant (fresh seafood specials are best). Easy to park, away from the crowded downtown but walking distance. Weakness is cleanliness. Bugs may be unavoidable in the countryside, but clearly from the cobwebs, cleaning is pro forma and needs much improvement. Beds are on the flimsy side.

Very charming hotel in historic Bocairent.

We were trying to escape the highly turistic coastal Valencia area, so we headed to the mountains and found this beautiful hotel. The hotel itself is a historic site, the town's old train station with gorgeous surroundings at walking distance of the old town of Bocairent. The hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful. We ate a wonderful dinner at the hotel restaurant with a nice bottle of local wine which was very reasonable.

The rooms are spacious, a pleasant rural outlook and quiet location on the edge of the city. The quality of the hotel (motel) is fine but the decor in the rooms and some services such as the elevator are quite dated. Still, we had a very comfortable stay for 4 nights. Emporda represents fairly good value for money.

Pleasant stay in Dali land

Off season so room rate was very reasonable. The restaurant is upper scale with (to us)some unusual menu items and impeccable service. Front desk friendly and helpful. Although literally at the edge of town, it is only a brief walk to the town center and the Dali Theater. The Wi-Fi seemed quicker and more reliable than any other we experienced in Spain. Perhaps the lack of competition for bandwidth helped. Given that we were in an area noted for its art, the lack of any pictures on the walls was a minor, easily remedied negative.

No thrills hotel not 4 star

This is a hotel situated out of town. rooms are in need of a refurbishment. Dirty Jacuzzi bath. Unable to use. The room cold no heating. Noisy due to road traffic and no double glazing. No kettle in room.
Staff were nice and friendly. Breakfast was nice but very basic.
I would say it was more a two star then four star

Ok but not a 4 star in my opinion.

Fairly quiet and located outside of the core. Must have been nice in its day but quite faded now and due for an update. I would not rate it as a 4 star hotel. AIr conditioning did not work at all and opening the patio doors just let in some foul farm smells. Wifi so slow that it was almost not useable. Lots of parking if you want to walk to the Dali museum though

Hotel is Located on the Road. Make sure that your room is not facing the main road or you will need earplugs. My room was facing the back so it was OK. But in the morning there were more cars plus you can hear all your neighbors. Walking distance to Dali museum, free parking. Breakfast is overpriced.

Easy to locate

Disappointing set menu - a menu with little choice - so we decided to eat elsewhere and have a coffee & nightcap on our return. Sadly, although we waited patiently in the bar (and we observed the receptionist, who had spotted our \"wait\" trying to raise a member of staff to serve us - to no avail) we decided to give up and go straight to our room - not normally what we would expect from a 4-star hotel. Although our booking was pre-paid, I was given an invoice for the full amount on check-out, not just local taxes, etc. Needless to say, I didn't pay twice! All other aspects ok.

Fantastic restaurant

The staff were very friendly and many of them spoke to us in English and although we have no Spanish we were able to speak to the chef in French. The hotel was very clean and tidy although a little 'faded but everywhere was very comfortable. Our room was well appointed and comfortable and had the most fantastic views. The staff were very attentative and service was superb. We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant on both evenings. One evening we were the only clients so had brilliant service and excellent food. As well as the 'a la carte' menu, there was a 'formule' choice which although rather pricey (for Spain) was absolutely first class (the chef is internationally known). Breakfast was a feast, if you wanted it, with a choice of hot eggs & bacon or scrambled eggs as well as an excellent choice of meat, cheese, tortilla, croissants, cereals, yogurt and anything else you could think of. The hotel is located just off the N11 as you enter Figueres - very easy to find. Would recommmend and will definitely stay there again.

Perfect late 50's Hotel

We liked this 4 star hotel in nearly every way. Entering the hotel is like a step back into the late 1950's (It was actually built in 1961). The furnishings are all high quality and fit the era, nearly perfectly preserved. The location is OK with a 15 minute walk to the Dali Museum. Traffic noise from the nearby highway is noticeable, but we use a white noise generator app on our smartphone to mask such noises while we sleep, so no problem for us. The bathroom was in perfect condition and spotless. We really liked this place and recommend it.

It was a pleasant surprise when we arrived as it far exceeded our expectations based on other hotels in this price range for this old style hotel . 10 minutes walk from the Dali Museum. The restaurant downstairs is exceptional for it's the service. Very helpful staff.

Great Hotel...for couples and business travellers!

The quality of the rooms and the fittings etc were great. Bed was as comfy as the one back home and that is saying something!! Bathroom was large and very well furnished (bidet, jacuzzi bath etc) and really good quality linen.

We were fortunate enough to get an upgrade through Expedia so that really made it fab.

Only downside is that it is on the edge of town (though town is only couple of miles across!!) and furthest away from the two train stations. Short 1/2 mile walk from town centre which was actually quite welcome after a long meal. Needed a cab to get us back to the train station.

great hotel and AMAZING restaurant

My family and I had a great stay at this hotel. Our room was modern, very comfortable, and clean. The housekeeping staff made us feel pampered. Most of all we enjoyed the restaurant--it was a real dining experience as every dish was amazing tasting and artistically presented. The restaurant was more formal than I would have preferred but it was one of the very top meals of my entire France & Spain vacation. Roomservice was good also but not comparable to the downstairs restaurant. The only downside to this hotel was that it was on the outskirts of Figueres and our balcony faced a sometimes loud street, but with the shutters closed there was no street noise in our room. I would love to return to this hotel and restaurant again.

Sadly disappointed

Hotel Emporda is on the far edge of town. The first room we received upon checking in was not satisfactory. Hot and stuffy and the air conditioner did not work. We opened the terrace doors to be greeted by a busy highway full of trucks right outside. The bath room sink was plugged as well. It took three complaints to the front desk to change rooms. Thanks to another couple demanding a refund, the manage was brought in and he moved us to a room on the other side of the hotel with a working air conditioner. The restaurant was very expensive and the food was so-so. The staff we dealt with in the lounge surly and unfriendly. We did not feel welcomed and did not go back the second night. We would not recommend staying here. The walk to town was about 15 minutes and very doable if you are not lugging baggage along.

The room was tidy, neat and bigger than my friend and I thought we'd get for the price. The hotel is relatively close to everything, a short walk by our urbanite standards. The hotel is however a bit far from the train station (strongly suggest you take a cab) and not convenient for anyone staying just the night for the Barcelona layover.

Excellent Hotel

This is a typical up market Spainish Hotel. We travel to Figueres 3 or 4 times a year and have stayed in other Hotels in the town. None are as excellent as the Emporda. Service, Rooms and food are faultless. You pay for what you get and yes it is not the cheapest, but in my opinion it is the best in the town.

Wide open views and walking distance from Figueres

Although with limited English, our welcome was friendly and pleasant and the gentleman made an effort to get us a room despite our early check-in. However, it was sometimes difficult to get hold of someone at reception. The two waiters on duty spoke no English, but that's not necessarily a criticism (how many British waiters speak Spanish?!). but they were not that friendly - we couldn't raise a smile. Our room was clean and the mini-bar well stocked but twin beds on wheels on a laminate floor are not ideal for couples! The hotel is dated with no discernable 'style'. (Incongrous pictures, ornaments etc) and could do with a not-too-expensive brightening up. We didn't dine there but the breakfast was excellent and there was a manager or head waiter whose English was excellent and with a tremendous service attitude. The hotel could benefit from getting him to recruit and train people to his standard. I left a necklace in our wardrobe and when my Spanish speaking sister called the next day they went out of their way to find the necklace so she could collect it for me - much appreciated as it was sentimental. We would possibly stay there again as a base but it wouldn't be our first choice and we don't thnk it would take much to bring it up to the next level for attracting repeat business.

Don't have enough good things to say about out it

Located near the outskirts of Figures, it is a short walk to the center of town and Dalì museum and the Rambla. The staff and service was excellent. The room itself was extremely spacious, well equipped and had a balcony overlooking the beautiful Catalonian countryside. On clear days you can even see the sea from your balcony. Each room has a mini bar, safe, hd tv, free wifi, a whirlpool bathtub and shower, and a bidet. \"El Motel,\" the restaurant in the hotel was amazing, one of the best meals I have ever had. If given the option thought hotels.com opt for the breakfast...it is amazing. The waitstaff of the restaurant was some of the, if not the, best I have had in Europe. The bar is great, and they have delicious tapas, and even sell Cuban cigars. If I had one gripe the hotel it would be that it is a little far from the train stations (about a 15 euro cab ride). Besides that, I can't reccomend this place enough. It was slightly spendy, but worth every euro.

Good hotel in convenient location.

Very good situation particularly if you are in Figueres for the Salvador Dali experience. It was only a 15 minute walk to get to the Ramblas. However the hotel is bounded on two sides by very busy (noisy) roads that can a nuisance at night and early morning. The breakfast service was excellent and the choice of food was very varied and plentiful. All in all a good value hotel for a short break.

The Suitable Hotel

In generl I can conclude the following items:
1- Beautiful landscape in the front of the rooms
2- Very polite and luxury workers
3- A little so far from the city center about 15 min
4- Finally, the room cleaner and cleaning my room is not very good because my towels and other facilities in the bath are not changed.

Hotel Emporda, Figueres, Spain.

The restuarant is very good, though not cheap.
However this high point is let down by the room cleaning, where there were numerous hairs let from previous guests and the glass door to the bathroom stained with finger prints.
In addition the hotel is on a main road north out of town, so there is a high level of traffic noise. I needed ear plugs to get a decent night's sleep.
Although the location and ample parking makes this a good hotel for car drivers.

Restaurant in hotel was also good - we were exhausted and asked for a soup (not on menu) - and the chef prepared us a simple consomme with pasta! A perfect late-supper ending to a long day of air and road travel. This hotel is an Expedia 'keeper' for experienced travellers.

Our room was very well-designed and comfortable. The internet connection worked well. The staff was marvelously friendly and helpful. Do not miss the restaurant. We had one of the greatest dinners of our lives there. Although the hotel is on the edge of town, it is only a short hike to the Dali Theatre.

Un très bon accueil dès notre arrivée. Le personnel est sympathique.
La chambre est cependant assez vieillotte, les toilettes fuyaient.pas de gel pour la douche. Matelas confortable et linge propre.

tout est très beau et propre
merci au dames de l’accueil qui sont super gentilles.
petits points négatifs
pas mal de bruit le matin sur la route qui borde l’hotel (insonorisation des fenêtres manque double vitrage)
petit défauts sur la chasse d’eau (nous avons vu avec le patron elle sera reparé) et pièce manquante ds la baignoire.
pas de porte manteau ds la salle de bain .
ce sont des petits détails qui ne nous empêcherons pas de revenir.
l’accueil est parfait , le service au Petit dejeuner est de qualité et parfait .
parking super avec recharge pour véhicules électriques

Hotel antiguo y clásico. Al entrar en la habitación no estaba hecha y no nos cambiaron a otra, tuvimos que esperar y luego la habitación con un mobiliario muy clásico y feo.
