We were visiting Yellowstone and wanted something unique. This location was a little out from the park but no waiting in traffic to enter from the north to get into Yellowstone was worth it! All the staff were so welcoming, attentive and kind. We were leaving early at 430am and they offered to have coffee ready in the lobby for us before we left. (Was amazing) The cafe was spectacular, the food was delicious. (They were able to make us Vegan food) I did have to ask but they had Beyond burgers & bowls.
1. Tents were clean and modern
2. Right on the river
3. Super kind staff
4. Delicious food
5. The sky views were insane
6. They had an accessible room, a ramp with no stairs.

A truly spectacular place for unwinding and enjoying nature. The camp is surrounded by white capped mountains along the river. Staff is incredible and always went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable. Can get a little cold at night even with the stove, but otherwise we had an amazing time. Food was also delicious. We will go back again.

We were there the last week of their season. That night temps dropped to 39 which is not their fault. That being said, there should be additional blankets as the wood burning stove can’t accommodate enough wood to last but a couple of ours. This meant you if you wanted to stay warm, you had to get up to add wood every couple of hours. Being cold is an understatement.
I’d recommend late spring or early fall if you plan to visit.

It’s a charming place with a great view and a very cute setup but weather should definitely be considered.

If you'd like a different experience from the usual hotel, Under Canvas is a great option. It's an opportunity to maximize an outdoor experience while not having to sleep on the ground. You can't be an idle participant. You have to keep your stove stoked in cooler conditions. You're \"roughing it\" just a little bit. The location in North Yellowstone was fantastic - on the Yellowstone River (fishing friendly) - and the drive to either the north gate at Yellowstone Park or Livingston was easy. The staff is fantastic. Meeting fellow campers is a treat. A great experience.

The property itself was very unique; the food and views were two of the best things about the stay. The stove was dirty and the filter was clogged along with wet wood, did not fare well to start a fire and stay warm. My husband is no dummy either, being stationed in Alaska he knows how to build fires. Everyone we spoke with had the same complaints. Additionally, another guest and myself wanted to order breakfast at 955a, they would not allow it or even to order a morning drink. They said they were closed. We both stated, we have 5 min to spare. Poor customer service at this location to say the least. Do not let them fool you either, they dont' \"book\" any adventures for you, they google and give you phone numbers to call. Talking with the locals, they state that this location hasn't been around long and that the turnover is extremely high. Hopefully the other locations are better. Would not book at this one again.

A wonderful way to end our Wild West Adventure! All the conveniences of home in a most beautiful, serene setting! If you are looking to get away from crowds and enjoy nature and unplug ….Under Canvas is the place! About 45 minutes north of Yellowstone. So much nicer than Gardiner and much quieter!

We reserved a stargazer tent . The tent exceeded our expectations . It was very clean , comfortable and relaxing. The main reception area is nice , the dining area is limited and bugs were a little bit of an issue . All in all I would recommend the experience!

I loved the location, the view, the quietness. Loved the checkin lady and Madison who worked at the restaurant. It was 3 min past 9pm when the restaurant closed, and she still helped me with a glass of wine. Loved most of the experience there, however, for people who can't leave and want to just stay put, we felt the restaurant should be open from 7-11pm. Since we're so far out and not allow food in out tents etc. Also it doesn't get dark till 1045pm. Also the bed was very hard and springs in the back...didn't sleep too well.. sorry! but it all was great! thank you and we'll try the other ones!

Our stay was amazing. The staff is very professional and welcoming. Our tent faced the Yellowstone river and mountains! Our view off the porch looked like a post card. Great food options for breakfast and dinner. Comfortable beds. Warm fireplace. It’s a must see in person !

Wow! We loved our experience at Under Canvas North Yellowstone! The tents were pristine, the food was fantastic but most of all we loved gathering at the community area at the end of the day to enjoy the fires, music, conversation and festivities. For 2 families of 2, we rented the family tent with the additional kids tent and took turns staying in each - what a wonderful experience! Our 13-year old boys wished we had stayed longer. They loved meeting other kids and playing football and roasting smores.
Thanks for having us! We will be back!

This resort had the potential to wow but alas it stopped short and our experience was one of disappointment that Under the Canvas didn’t take all the ingredients to make this magical.

The highlights: the setting is stunning in Paradise Valley, all accommodations avail of this natural beauty so this isn’t unique to this resort. The startgazer viewing from the Perspex section of the tent was stunning.

The lowlights: lack of tranquility, noise (local music venue playing until midnight and speaker playing in neighboring tent), the use of plastics and cardboards (bowls, cutlery, cups for soft and alcoholic drinks) is not environmentally conscious or sustainable practice (many were visible in the trash and not recycled in the compostable bin), litter in the common areas (plastic cutlery, s’mores wooden sticks), the Perspex star viewing screen in tent was covered in dirt and tents were congested which gave this a quantity over quality feel.

We didn’t not feel there was value for money & do not plan to stay at an Under the Canvas resort again.

Loved the property. Did not like that the girls at reservation desk never called me about available activities after asking. They seemed to be unfriendly to us. The male staff were excellent with my boys. Even gave them marshmallows to go on our last day.

Under Canvas was a very unique experience! My boys loved staying in a teepee, and my husband and I loved having a space to ourselves. The food was great! The staff was so helpful and they went above and beyond! We would definitely recommend staying if you are close to one. It was a truly amazing experience!

The grounds and lobby were beautiful. They're on a river and the tents are immaculate. The few things that I didn't think were great might not be an issue if you're traveling as just a couple rather than a family.
1) The gravel road leading to the property wasn't in great shape. It could be pretty easily smoothed out but we arrived at night and it was a pretty rocky and uneven road to get to the lobby.
2) The entire facility is based on a communal concept which makes a lot of sense. But they have too few fire pits given the amount of advertising they have around the s'mores. I believe they have 40 plus tents but they only have four fire pits at night for everyone to share. I've been to other tent experiences that are similar to this Under the Canvas, but they either have had individual fire pits at each tent or a larger number at the lobby.
3) The in-tent heaters are very nice but are relatively impractical. Even when filled to capacity, they may only provide about 45 minutes of heat. I think they could explore other eco-friendly options that might burn slower but for longer.
4) More drinking options. It was nice that they had a couple. But it's such a beautiful area, you should be able to pick from more than two beers to enjoy after a long day of hiking. Especially given that there isn't anything within 30 minutes of the property.

This is our second stay at an Under Canvas property and we will definitely be doing a third and fourth and fifth. The staff goes above and beyond and are genuinely happy to help you with anything you need! Our large group of 23 (including teenagers) had the best time together enjoying the beautiful property and surrounding area. Special thanks to Lucas for getting us back to our tents in one piece. Beautiful location with trails, and adventure abound. We loved the tents, the food, the service was great. We had many food options, and great drinks. In the evening they light the firepits and we made smores. Breakfast was great, and the service was attentive. They even had hiking poles for us to use as well as blankets for around the fires at night. We can't wait to go back and stay again!

Given the price, the whole experience was just okay. It was lacking a wow factor that makes these kind of experiences fun and unique. You always hope the food is going to be above average at a remote location. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment. Skirt steak was super tough, carrots barely cooked, rice overcooked. Let’s just say I went to bed hungry. On the positive side, night time was beautiful looking at the stars and the tent was well put together. Just don’t expect to be able to see the River even if the description says so.
