Staff was friendly who worked up front ! The cashier at breakfast restaurant maydawe I think that’s what it’s called ! Anyway lady did not provide the 15% Dusit discount ! I spoke to cashier and front desk and neither knew how to simple just credit back the 15% as it’s not difficult and it’s standard ! When you make mistake fix it and do not say I’m night cashier write your info down and I’ll see what I can do ? That’s not a way to handle the situation ! Bathroom also leaked water all over floor from shower ! The pool area is nice and the Thai restaurant are good ! Housekeeping very good !

From the moment we checked in it went from bad to worse. We had a deluxe king bed city view room reserved for 6 months in advance, after checking in they brought us to a twin bed room with a view of a parking lot for fuel trucks, when we told the belman this was not what we had prepaid for, they moved us to another room with a king bed, but no city view. The balcony seating area was filthy, and the chairs covered in bird poop, the view was the same, only a view of a parking lot with fuel trucks in the back of the hotel. The check in staff seemed perturbed to have to go to the trouble of switching us to another room, but the room they switched us to was still NOT the room that i had paid for and reserved 6 months in advance, but i was told that was all they had avaliable
. Beyond that, the bathroom sink was moldy around the top edge, when calling for additional items such as towels, water, etc, EVERYTIME, they DID NOT BRING WHAT WE HAD ASKED FOR, and had to call
Again for the right item. The check in staff are rude, unhelpful, and not friendly. I have stayed at many hotels, but this is by far the worst i have ever stayed in. I will never stay at this 2 star hotel again and would highly recommend Park Inn Radisson nearby where i have stayed numerous times, and where i will continue to stay on my future travels. I just thought i would try a different hotel for a change, and Iam very sorry for my choice.

For a four or five star hotel the employees were extremely unhelpful and didn't seem to want to do anything for the guests. My balcony was covered with bird poop and was never clean the entire week I was there. It was completely unusable.

I tried to book the day pass for the beach club that they have at their sister hotel and was told to use the app to book it. At a high end hotel I would expect guest services to handle these things for me. I downloaded the app which then referred me to the front desk to book the beach club for the day pass.

I will never stay at a Dusit property again after the poor service I received here.

This has been the worst hotel check-in experience I’ve ever had. Our booking confirmation was for three Deluxe King City View rooms with king-size beds, but upon arrival, the agent informed us that each room only had two twin beds instead. Check-in was supposed to be at 2:00 PM, yet only one room was ready at that time. We had to wait another two hours for the second room, and the third wasn’t available until 2 hours and 45 minutes later.

When I raised my concerns, the agent explained that the delay was due to guests checking out late and housekeeping running behind. I asked to speak with the manager and requested a discount as compensation, but the manager never acknowledged or addressed my request.

I'm sad to say my first stay at this hotel was very disappointing. Upon arrival, the suite I was given smelled terribly like sewage. It was so strong, with no exaggeration, I wanted to throw up when inside the room.

The management moved me to another room, but the corridor smelled moldy very strongly. It seemed unsafe to even breathe in those corridors.

I do want to acknowledge the management and staff were nice and they seemed to be doing their best. But how much can they do for their customers when the building itself is in much need of being cleaned, mold removed and fixing.

During breakfast or dinner times, the staff was very nice and kind. But again, even though the staff were doing their best, the building and rooms themselves are not in their best condition.

There are other hotels in Davao that I heard is in much better condition. I would do more research before booking this hotel when visiting Davao.

Disappointing Stay – Did Not Meet Expectations

I booked Dusit D2 Davao expecting a modern and spacious hotel experience, based on the photos provided online. Unfortunately, the reality was far from it. The hotel appeared outdated and cramped upon arrival. The pictures made the pool seem large and inviting, but in person, it was quite small and underwhelming.

On a positive note, the check-in process was smooth and the staff were genuinely accommodating. One staff member even escorted us to our room, which reminded me of the service we’ve experienced at luxury hotels like the Four Seasons. That gesture was appreciated.

However, the room itself was a letdown. It felt old and lacked visual appeal. We were told we had a pool view, but it was barely visible unless you leaned far out to the side. The pillows were stained, and I had to call to have them changed — something that should never happen at a hotel of this standard, or maybe this is the standard of this hotel.

There were three of us in the room, yet it was only set up for two — only two towels and two sets of toiletries. I had to request the additional items, which should have been prepared in advance. These details may seem small, but they add up and really impacted the overall experience.

Dusit D2 Davao has potential, especially with its courteous staff, but the facilities and attention to detail need major improvement. Sadly, it did not live up to expectations.

Check in took me 20 mins, I was asked to step aside and didn’t check on me back. Didn’t even offered me places to stay and get refreshments. One of concierge staff is making face as well but had a change of mood with caucasian guests. It’s sad to feel racism and selective treatment in my own country. The place is supposed be “luxury” but I don’t think it’s well maintained; dirty window pane, piles of pigeon manure outside, dirty shower sinks, place is falling apart. We ordered room service food as well, chicken has still blood, mango shake is too sweet, dumpling is too salty. 2,500 breakfast buffet is okay but no worth it, I was expecting more for this price. Stay at this hotel if you can tolerate all of this but we are not coming back. We stayed in a suite and a king bed room. For half of its price, you can stay on a better hotel that is cleaner, better service and food.

My wife and I stayed at the Dusit Davao for 7 days in August, 2024. It was our 2nd visit; we also stayed in August, 2023.

The staff are mostly friendly and seem to smile. That is the extent of the positive experience.

Unfortunately, the majority of it was very disappointing with several significant issues.
1. Many areas are moldy and dirty. Dead cockroaches are common (we saw some in the same place for the entire duration of our stay).
2. The balcony areas were not cleaned well, if at all. There is a significant amount of dirt, bird poop and grime from the air conditioning units & did not appear touched the whole stay.
3. The air conditioner vent leaked so bad that water was pouring into the kitchen area. This occurred twice. The 1st time the engineering staff cleaned it but did nothing to fix it so it was not a surprise it happened again. The 2nd time, following additional prodding, it may have been fixed but we left shortly thereafter so who knows. Judging by the mildew and worn paint near the vent this was not the 1st time it happened.
4. The service is painfully slow for a 4 star property. It was common for a coffee in the lobby lounge to take 20 minutes. Food orders were met with a response noting \"it will take 20-35 mins\" but it was often almost an hour; even for basic menu items.
5. Housekeeping unable to provide clean washcloths daily.
6. Zero concern by staff of how the stay was; never asked & when issues were noted they did not seem to care.

The service was appalling for an international hotel at this price point, and I would have given zero stars if possible.

Checking in late, I was give a wrong room type. Didn’t complain at checkin as after midnight, but contacted the hotel directly by email following day. Received confirmation of receipt email, but never any response. Receptionist was unaware of issue when I returned and only grudgingly transferred me to the correct room type (no apology or consideration).

Being tired from late travel and check in, I declined room cleaning at 9am but was surprised that room was not attended when returning at 7pm.

Pool closes super early (8pm)

Sitting at pool bar, there were no attendants, and I had to go look for one (2 other couples
were waiving for attention) even thought this was the only part of the pool bar area that had guests.

When attendant finally appeared, he took the order wrong. After returning, he was unaware that a gin-tonic also required tonic (not just gin)

Hotel and room is OK, but service is terrible given the price point. Not coming back

Front desk clerk did not post my payment for incidentals expenses to my room. Therefore i could not charge my expenses to my room.
We were seated at dinner table that was known to be broken. This is true because the Server told us \"Sorry, but the screw is missing.\"
The receipt for the meal did not print legibly because the ink ribbon has run out of ink. Hence could not read the receipt.
We were instructed the New Years Eve event was formal attire. But witnessed people there in tanktops, cutoff shorts, and other non-formal attire.
Very substandard for the cost. Should have stayed at OYO.

Stay away! Bad hotel!

This is NOT a 4 star hotel. It should be rated 1 star. The entire hotel has a very bad smell, starting with the front lobby. We were there a total of 8 nights but had to switch rooms three (3) times because of issues. Our first room on the 6th floor was so smelly that we could not take it anymore and had to move. The person who cleaned our room told us that there have been complaints about the entire floor for a long time. We had to go to a store and buy 4 room fresheners, bleach, and other cleaning supplies; and used them to clean our own room. Our second room was on the 4th floor. Our sinks in the bathroom both leaked, so did our toilet. Plus the entire room still had a bad stench. I believe that the toilet leaked sewer gas into the room. At one point in time, it was so bad that we finally had maintenance re-caulk the toilet… which obviously they would not have done if we did not complain and if the smell was not atrocious. I finally had enough and asked the assistant manager on duty to move us, and then we were off to our third room. When we were there the entire bathroom mirror is lined with mold. The walls are cinder block and there are gaps where it is not even sealed or caulked. Of course the room still had a very bad smell; but at least we had our room fresheners and cleaning supplies.
The hotel is shaped like a big “U” with the interior courtyard really being the pool—which nobody can or should use because hundreds of birds use it as a toilet. It’s awful.
