Way too many carbs and food was over salted. Dining staff was excellent. I ordered a king bed and got two twin beds for a couple. I had to prop pillows on the side to stop falling off the bed. The hair dryers smoked and smelled like burning wires. The TV didn't work and the checkin staff charged me 400 php for that 2 hour checkin despite all the problems of the room. I have visited this hotel 3X in the last 2 years for about 15 days. They did not care. Go to the Insular, Pearl Farm, or any where else that respects their repeat customers. I will not be back.

Loved this Hotel and our room premium or jr suite. It's lovely to have a nice view on the 9th floor, and the staff was excellent, especially in the restaurant. Breakfast was the highlight of the day, so amazing and underrated, such a great surprise.

The check in late in the evening was great. The staff throughout all interactions were nice and professional.

The rooms are too dark to really judge cleanliness. Towels were thin. Bed (King) was not a good sleep, not sure why. The shower curtain rod was sagging and the liquid soap dispenser in the shower was empty, which demonstrates no one is checking on housekeeping.

I looked over the breakfast buffet and did not like the choices.

Even the manager is on the floor ready to assist when his staff is busy. This hotel is my family’s favorite when visiting Davao City. Accommodation is excellent. Easy access to the airport, to the wharf, and to shopping malls and warehouses.

Relaxing Stay with Excellent Service and Amenities

We stayed there until January 1 and had a wonderful experience. Our room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The service was warm and welcoming, with staff always greeting us with smiles. The breakfast buffet was delightful, and I particularly enjoyed the ambiance. The pool was fantastic, with plenty of benches to sit back and relax. We truly enjoyed our stay!

Staff were not knowledgeable. Additional steps were needed to check in, taking extra time that was not needed. Some staff are great, some provide no help at all. The complimentary water is not managed well, and the aircon unit was spewing out a terrible smell. The Staff did not try to provide a different room. This location is not recommended, and i will not return.

Even though there were renovations happening the Hotel went out of their way to ensure the customer experience was good; they are always smiling and say hello each time and it makes you say hello and not just walk past and ignore; the breakfast had a great range and the cook was always willing to make something for you if you desired; the rooms are clean and modern so a great stay was had:)

Overall very disappointed in the property with regards facilities, pricing, communication and management.

We chose this upscale hotel for its appearance on the website and it’s pool.
However after check in we come to find that the pool was closed for renovations but nothing was mentioned on the hotel website not with Expedia.
Then the lights and phone were not functioning so were moved to another room.
The WiFi never worked anywhere in the hotel.
The lighting/ac control system was archaic and highly impractical.
Press the button for “desk” and the TV shuts off and so does the lights in the bathroom.
Asked to see the duty manager at the reception and after about 8 minutes he came slowly strolling through the front doors, hands in pockets.... walked right past me without greeting me and spoke with the receptionist.
I presume he had been out for a stroll in the street...

No sense of urgency or hospitality.
Informed me I had to wait for management meeting in the morning to decide whether they could upgrade/refund/discount our 3 night stay.
Next day I was told by a supervisor that we would get a 20% discount.
You would think that a manager would come take care of this multi faceted situation but apparently we were not considered important
Still No apology...
Bar drinks were overpriced compared to other 3 and 4 star hotels I have stayed in in Davao.
Menu was lengthy and food was very outdated, poorly prepared and presented and lacked any taste.

Seems like the hotel has been trapped from the past. It must have been grand and regal many years ago. Used the restroom at the lobby and was welcomed by 2 small roaches. The bedroom and its amenities looks very tired and worn already. Breakfast buffet is included in the room rate but nothing really special.

Phone, Electronic key and lights are not working. They advised to be seen by engineering team. But we opted to sleep instead to wait engineering team because were totally exhausted already.

Aircon must have control inside the room so we cant off it anytime for convenience.
Provide bidet/sprinkler water for toilet purposes.

Breakfast buffet was great. More choices of foods.

The room was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. There are a lot of places nearby to eat and there is a large mall nearby. The only thing that I did not like was that the pool was closed at the time of my stay and one of the reasons that we had chosen this hotel was because it had a swimming pool. Other then that, the hotel is very nice and I do plan on staying here again. I hope that the pool will be open when I return.

Everything I don't mention in this section was really good. But some things I do need to address.

Hotel restaurant: Everything was too expensive COMPARED to every other hotel restaurants we ate at during this trip. Too many things on the menu are listed at 500 pesos.

Electrical cord tied to a bathroom drawer: This was a potential safety hazard. (picture included)

Swimming pool: It was empty and not serviceable. The Grand Regal Hotel website didn't mention this at all. If I knew this swimming pool was out of order I would have chose a different hotel.

Experienced earthquake during the stay and the hotel staff was very accommodating and professional during the event. The Room and staff were very good. The breakfast was okay, but the heating elements under some of the servers were not lit, so some food was not heated. But overall the breakfast was pretty good.

Bad hotel with hidden supplemental charges.

The phone system was broke along with one elevator, the room was not real clean and very old. I would not stay here again. Also charged a supplemental charge on my credit card and it was almost as much as the hotel rate. If I could I would have cancelled my stay but I reserve for the next day and no refund.

I stayed here before and i thought this stay would be pleasant. It was one of my worse experiences. The telephone in the room was not working. One of the lamps was not working and I had to report this to the front desk (it was replaced). The room smelled of smoke and I couldn't sleep. I requested for another room but this was not granted. The elevators were not working also - they were intermittently stopping and every time this happened, we had to change elevators. On top of these, I requested for a late check out but the front desk staff said they could only extend up to 1pm. I was also told that my bill would be charged for a half day just for the one hour extension!

Hotel was ok overall. Room was decent and smelled ok considering its an old hotel. The bed was comfortable enough but did not have any blanket or comforter. Just a flat sheet on top. If you get cold easily, this could be a problem. The phone system did not work (was advised at the front desk at time of check-in).

Distance from the city center is not so good. It is quite far and costs a lot if you have business near the city center.

NO POOL! The pool was Empty! Very old and run down

We stayed here 2 nights, seda was booked out so this place appeared ok. The hotel is generally old and outdated. The bathroom is old, bad caulking and the ceiling access door half hanging off. No bed blankets so I requested from reception, an hour later I had to walk to reception to ask again. I chose this place for location and the pool. The pool was Empty! Very misleading!

Hotel itself is nicely located near the airport. The staff are very helpful fir the most part. Only complaint I have a relative of mine left a box of pomelo at the bell desk and I have asked for it a day before I left and bellperson says that there is no pomelo left by my relative. When I reach the airport a bell person called me and told that they found the pomelo and asked me if they want to drop off the pomelo but told them that I have already check in luggage...

Very small pool, 4’ is all.... they charged me for two hotel waters when they said it was free. Unmatching caulking in bathroom, applied very messy. Mold in the room all around the A/C. Plus A/C had no control for more cooler temp. Breakfast staff was not very welcoming.

Pretty nice place with spacious rooms, good WiFi and nice breakfast. Room had a few issues such as hot water took forever to get warm, centralized light switches that if you turn off the light next to the bed it also turns off the power switch next to the bed so you cannot plug your phone in next to your bed to charge while you sleep.

The bathroom has signs that say water is non-potable. Other places we stayed in Davao and elsewhere in Asia provided complementary bottled water but not this place.

Place was ok but we will book a different place next time.
