Staff was great, we arrived in the area early and were allowed to check in, front desk was extremely friendly. This was a spacious and clean room. The view was better than described almost a full view of the ocean. The only slight complaint is that the bathroom in this room was tight but overall and 9 outta 10 and I would def recommend. And we didnt eat a whole meal in the resteruant but did get pasties and they were delicious!

Unfortunately our room had no heat and we had to be moved to a non oceanfront room in an alternate building. The room we were moved to was nice but I really missed the ocean front balcony. My new view was a green pool.

Being regulars at this hotel we were VERY surprised by the extra charges for parking, no bikes for guests anymore, and no coffee at the front desk. The town has free parking this time of year so there shouldn’t have been a charge. Low water pressure in the shower and no coffee/dining table in the room. View is always good, room clean, didn’t use pool (in roadside bldg) and always smells clean when you check in. Worth $100 to stay but the extra charges will keep us from returning, unfortunately.

Room was ok, it obviously gets used hard over the summer and repairs are not kept up with. Dealt with an overwhelming cigarette odor in a supposed smoke free room due to some inconsiderate neighbors. Which is not necessarily the hotels fault. Although employee Jen was not helpful, giving us attitude and not providing any solutions. Thankfully employee Olivia arrived and was wonderful! She helped us with a solution and was super knowledgeable and kind. She deserves a raise!

We appreciated being allowed to check in early — thank you for that. However, the listing on Expedia stated that parking was available but did not specify that it was paid parking. This felt misleading, and I don’t appreciate when important details are hidden or worded unclearly. Cleanliness also needs immediate improvement, as the current level fell short of expectations. In addition, the front desk staff came across as quite grumpy and unwelcoming. Overall, there are several areas that need attention before I could consider staying here again.

We didn't get the beachfront room that we thought that we were getting. The room was nice though. We also didn't realize that there is a 20 dollar a day parking fee until we checked in and also a 40 dollar security hold. Those extra fees will keep us from booking with the Commander again.

Disappointed that there was no ability to have the cool ocean air come into to our room overnight as there are no screens on the property and keeping the door wide open while we were sleeping is a bit unsafe. Having to pay $22 per night to park was a bit alarming especially for an off season stay. The hotel is at a quiet location on the boardwalk but felt like the parking fee was crazy.

However, while I’m glad folks have the option to bring pets (at least in the off-season), it was hard to relax with dogs barking while our door to the balcony was open. Either they were on the balcony or near the open slider doors. We couldn’t see them but could hear them suddenly and it was jarring plus uncomfortable. All things being equal, I would not stay again solely for this single reason. I wish there was a better policy that wasn’t so disruptive to peace, quiet, and sounds of the beach & waves! If it doesn’t bother you, then definitely stay at the Commander.

I was charged an additional charge to park my vehicle. When I returned from dinner, there was no parking available. After the first night, they had NOT cleaned the room, when I was gone all day, and returned at 5:00 pm. At checkout, I voiced my concerns to the girl behind the desk. She partially refunded the parking charge, and said that she was goi g to refund the one night, but never did ! She claimed that her printer was not working to print the room refund as proof, even though she just printed the partial parking refund. I have NOT seen the refund returned to my account. Also, I could not access the building because the automatic door was NOT working with the keycard. We were kept waiting outside for 45 minutes until they found the key to access the Emergency Exit door. The other gentleman had his wife and two young children in the room waitng. The room and carpet was so dirty that your feet was black on the bottom when you entered the shower, and you had to brush the sand off of your feet before putting your socks on.

We were in town for the music festival and were very happy with our stay here. A beautiful, clean smelling lobby and friendly helpful staff was a nice start. We had a 2 queen oceanfront room and it was beautiful with comfortable beds and I loved the shower head and stunning view from the balcony. Also a fun surprise for us was the Fractured Prune donut shop in front near the hotel restaurant where we also enjoyed a nice breakfast outside on the deck.
It was a pleasant and easy walk to and from the festival at the end of the boardwalk with lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby and along the way.
The price was very reasonable (thank you Expedia!) for the location and accommodations and I would definitely stay here again!

All in all this is a good deal for where it is and what it provides for you!! Only problem we ran into was we booked through Expedia and they never mentioned that parking here is 20$ per day!!
