Absolutely beautiful grounds, it is an event space for weddings, rooms are very spacious, weddings are held nightly during the summer months and a few times a week in late fall to winter. I believe there are only 8 bedrooms but majority space are for events. Would definitely recommend. Good breakfast included!

Great location near Polignano a Mere and Monopoli. Free Parking. Breakfast was fabulous. Beautiful gardens and fountains. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's primarily a wedding venue but that just added to its charm.

The hotel is an 18 century well-maintained mansion with a beautiful garden. It’s more for ceremonies than receptions than accommodation. However the rooms are clean and it was a nice experience to us to see an Italian style wedding ceremony. It’s 10-15 minutes drive to Polignano a mare.

A Dream Come True in a Fairytale Castle

We stayed at this castle hotel, and the experience was simply spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we felt transported to another era, as if we were living in a fairytale. With only a few rooms, each exquisitely decorated, we enjoyed an intimate and exclusive stay.

Our room was a true treasure, featuring a painting from the 1700s that added a touch of history and elegance. Every corner of the castle felt like it was straight out of a movie, with green areas that invited us to stroll and daydream.

The breakfast was an experience in itself, with a selection of delights that left us in awe. But the best part was the staff, who made us feel like royalty. Without a doubt, an unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone seeking a magical and unique getaway.

Pros: it’s a beautiful property and the staff are lovely.

Cons: it’s ten minutes from town and there is no shuttle. The taxi cost 30 euro each way (for ten minutes). We had a car but I didn’t see anywhere we could have parked. You can’t walk there from the hotel.

Breakfast buffet was very ordinary given the cost of the accommodation.

Air conditioning is controlled by reception (to turn off and on). It was turning off and on all night so we went from boiling hot to freezing cold. We did not sleep well at all.

We were on level two and whilst there was a lift we had to then carry our bags up and down other sets of stairs. They didn’t offer to take them up so I asked someone to bring them down when I left (they asked my taxi driver to do it). I found this really strange.

Overall it was a beautiful place but it could have been better if they offered the services mentioned.

Okay this is a wedding venue if you don’t like music…don’t book here otherwise it is an exceptional property. Beautiful and lovely staff. Convenient parking, delicious and generous breakfast. Clean and fabulous room with lovely balcony…we want our kids weddings here one day. Gorgeous grounds…we felt very lucky to find the room there as there are only 8 rooms at any given time. We will be back and we will let everyone of our friends and family know about this gem in south of Italy.

Expedia should make it clear upfront that it is a wedding venue that has hotel rooms. Wedding music ended between 10-11 pm, but it was somewhat annoying. Other than that, everything was very nice and a good value.

Wedding venue masquerading as a hotel

This is not a hotel, it is a wedding venue with rooms. We had a wedding ongoing outside our room until 11:30 on our second night. It was not on the floor below, it was directly outside our room. The staff would only say, we sent you an email warning you we have weddings most nights. Unless you just want a room from midnight, this is not somewhere that you can or should stay.

This is a wedding venue, not a hotel. Do not stay here. The staff will treat you like you are unwelcome and there is a wedding every single day with music so loud your room will shake. This is not a hotel.

This is a beautiful place, the focus is on big events (weddings, parties, etc.). The staff were definitely focused on larger groups, not on a single couple for just two nights. The site is fantastic though you have nothing close by and have to drive (10 minutes) into Puglianano a Mare.

We were greeted in the hotel parking lot and taken to the hotel reception area by upscale golf cart. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful about not only their restaurant in town but others as well. The grounds of this hotel are beautiful and make the villa hotel even more striking. In the evening the hotel is visible from a distance due to the lovely lighting. The entry fountain is lit up and it is all very dramatic at night. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Mini bar and fridge, satellite tv, good air conditioning, jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Plenty of hot water. The price for the room included a breakfast buffet with a good variety of options. I am very impressed with the staff at the hotel. Everyone was pleasant and helpful, this hotel is a destination wedding reception site and while we were there all 6 days had a wedding. The place is meticulously maintained. We used the hotel location as our base for touring the Apulia area. For us it was perfect. We enjoyed returning from our daily excursions and seeing so many happy people celebrating a wedding. We walked the gardens in the morning after breakfast and before leaving for our visits to other cities. Polignano a Mare has an old city center that has many good restaurants and price points. The fish choices are excellent. Parking in public lots is available and easier than trying to find street parking. I can’t say enough good things about our stay at San Tommaso in Polignano a Mare.

This was a wonderful place to stay near the highway for day trips to Ostuni, Lecce and Bari. Breakfast was very good. The staff provided good service although none of the evening staff spoke English. They were good enough to help us rent a wheelchair for one of our party. Enjoyed the beautiful grounds. Room and bath were large. Just the right place for 3 people.

Great Hotel but far from town

Although this hotel was located quite a way from the town of Poligmare a Mare, it made up for it's location with fine service, lovely property and facilities. The room made us feel like royalty and breakfast was plentiful, fresh and delicious.

We read that the hotel was mainly used to host events and the night we arrived there was a wedding in progress, but it didn't bother us in the least: our room was quiet, the reception answered every question we had, and the breakfast waiter gave us his full attention.

The hotel is on beautiful landscaped grounds with a wedding held every night we stayed there. We were prepared for this though given previous reviews, so didn't mind this. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and was decent quality for the price. Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The breakfast spread was great, with a choice of freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juice, cakes, ham & cheese etc. All in all a fantastic stay - thank you Hotel San Tommaso!

uncommon luxury at the door of polignano a mare

this hotel deserves every superlative, unless you need a swimming pool and gym, and unless you go to bed very early--there are wedding receptions almost every night.
that said, the property itself and the rooms approach relais chateaux standards. the buffet breakfast is total quality.
the staff is meticulous. bicycles are available to guests who want to cruise polignano.
I recommend this place without reservation.

This is a really nice place to stay. The rooms are lovely, the staff is terrific, the building and grounds are beautiful. The location is about 1 1/2 miles from the center of the town, which isn't a big problem and the trade off is more space and the beautiful grounds. The room price was terrific. Yes, it is a wedding venue first, but the two nights we were there, the weddings were fun to see and were over before we returned from dinner. An option worthy of consideration.

Good hotel with no parking problems

This hotel is well away from Polignano a Mere, but we got a taxi in to town for the evening and arranged for the driver to pick us up for our return. The cost was €25.

It is a lovely hotel and our senior suite had a huge balcony but did not have much room to sit inside. The hotel does not have a restaurant but the breakfast was good and they arranged for some ham & cheese for our lunch. There was a wedding taking place and most of the hotel was taken over by this function.

The bar is very small and manned by the reception staff. This was strange but we were ok to get a drink when we needed it. For the price, this was an ideal hotel for the one night we had in the area. Parking in the town can be difficult, so this beautiful hotel out if town was a good option.

Only complaint was that the air con was controlled by reception and the setting was too high for us (too warm)

we had a very nice overnight stay at san Tommaso. The staff were very welcoming and the room was superb. We had a lovely bottle of wine outside on the patio in the sun. We ate out in town and were aware that San Tommaso has weddings almost every night as they did the night we stayed. It is essentially a wedding venue outside of town but we understood that going in and it was no bother. The breakfast was wonderful and the waiter fantastic.

Room was very comfortable and clean. Very big bathroom with all facilities. Hotel is very good looking with well presented green and well maintained area.It's have very big car park witch is free of charge. Hotel is located 5 minutes by car from Polignano a Mare where You can go for beach or shopping or just to see beautiful town.Also breakfast was very good (especially freshly made veg/fruit juice).

Very nice hotel for weddings and conferences. We stayed for one night and that was enough as there is no pool in the hotel. Very nice hotel though with good service and staff. Breakfast was good. Recommend it if stopping over for a night and visiting polignano.

san tommaso is not hotel its a palace.an old building renovated beautifully .it has a very nice garden and its located between vinyards and a lot of very old olive trees. the room is very big and comforteball.

Nothing but good things!

We arrived a little bit early and our room wasn't ready so they gave us a complementary espresso and we waiting in the bar area. We were told it would be about an hour, but they had it ready in less than 20 minutes. Great service. The room was on the 2nd floor served by an elevator, and had a huge balcony with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding area. (we had the senior suite). Large, comfortable bed and air conditioning along with fairly modern, trendy decor was lovely, but the lack of a real shower (there is a shower hand nozzle) was a bit annoying... but it was a jacuzzi bath, so that's a good thing. If I could sum it up, we had a lovely stay at a great price with an amazing view and a great breakfast in the morning - along with free parking and wifi and you have a great hotel.

The hotel and grounds were perfectly beautiful, immaculately kept. Our room was very large and the spa bathroom was super. The breakfast was varied and excellent quality, the sweet tarts a real treat. We had 3 nights and each evening there was a wedding! We had no idea the hotel was mainly a wedding venue but this in no way detracted from our stay as we were out all day and went in to town for dinner in the evening. When each wedding finished, it was perfectly quiet for sleeping. The staff were friendly and parking was no problem as a place was saved for hotel guests.

Excelente hotel de quatro estrelas numa localização privilegiada, perto de Polignano a Mare. As instalações são muito agradáveis, bem cuidadas e proporcionam uma estadia confortável e relaxante.

O maior destaque, no entanto, vai para toda a equipa. Desde a receção até aos restantes colaboradores, todos demonstraram uma simpatia genuína, profissionalismo e uma constante disponibilidade para ajudar. Pequenos gestos e atenção aos detalhes fizeram toda a diferença e contribuíram para uma experiência verdadeiramente memorável.

Uma excelente opção para quem visita a região. Recomendo sem hesitação e terei todo o gosto em regressar numa próxima oportunidade.

Todo nos encantó! La infraestructura del Hotel que parece un palacio, los jardines, las terrazas, el estacionamiento. Fuimos en diciembre y la decoración navideña era hermosa.
La habitación tan grande, la tina, las vistas, la cama confortable, la exquisita iluminación, la temperatura.
El desayuno muy rico.
Y destacable la excelente atención de la chica de la recepción, súper atenta y siempre con una sonrisa.

Só fique aqui se não houver outro hotel

Na verdade não é um hotel e sim locação de salas para casamentos. Houve 2 por noite durante nossa estadia. O ruído da música, queima de fogos incomoda bastante. Como tudo estava lotado acabamos aceitando estas condições. Uma pena pois as instalações são lindas e os funcionários incríveis.

Quando chegamos não localizávamos nenhum funcionário e a recepção estava vazia. Parecia um hotel fantasma, ainda que o hotel fosse bonito, o conforto é péssimo. O ar condicionado não conseguia ter vazão para deixar o quarto em condições mínimas para dormir. A cama também era desconfortável. A hospedagem foi terrível!
Em pleno verão europeu é impossível dormir bem sem ar-condicionado.

Hotel bonito com belos jardins. Local de realização de festas e eventos. Melhor escolher um dia fora dos finais de semana. Recepção pouco simpática. Café da manhã médio, sem muita variedade. Estacionamento próprio e grátis. Distante 7 km aproximadamente de Polignano a mare, então não dá para ir a pé.
