The area is so limited in food and hotels that this hotel does not make much effort to be welcoming and have great accommodations.

Hotel: Facilities are not in great shape. The box spring had some tears and the bed frame was partially broken. Additionally, we were never able to figure out the right water temperature - it was burning hot either way. Wifi comes with extra charge

Food: This hotel is part of the Hotel Mirador which is about 5min away. If you want food, they have to take you to that hotel. The food at the other hotel is not great. They do have good wine. And the town is so small we only had two restaurants as options to find food. The local restaurant had better food than the hotel. We asked for water at the front desk, at first they only wanted to give us one bottle of water. And when we asked for hot water for coffee, the same situation. We had to ask for water for two. You would think that since we were two guests, they would give us water for two.Common Sense!

Staff: The front desk closes at 7pm, after that, staff is limited. The girl Yanet at the front desk was partially helpful. Her attitude and facial expression were not very welcoming.

Tours: There is some false advertising and lack of clarity. The hotel sells a Raramuri experience that was nothing to do with the real experience. They sell you a guided hike with a Raramuri ceremony at the end. Local tours offer another experience where you cook & spend time with locals. More complete!

Ridiculously overpriced for what it offers, I actually thought I had reserved the hotel across the street from this one. Running water was dark and dirty, we couldn’t even shower. The place is old and not maintained. The bathroom was stinky, sink was probably older than me, as well as the mattresses. You have to pay extra if you want to have access to wifi, and there’s no signal in that area. The only good thing about the “hotel” was Janet, the receptionist. We’re never going back.

Hotel doesn’t take cash or have a restaurant/bar

Kind of a mixed bag with some pros but really big cons.

Pros: the room was nice, the grounds are gorgeous and the staff is very pleasant.

Cons:

1. It does not have a restaurant or bar. It has a refrigerator with water and some beers which you can’t purchase after 7 p.m. Their sister property—El Mirador—has the restaurant and a full bar.

2. The hotel doesn’t take cash. Which was really annoying and also led to a lot of foreign transaction fees on our credit card. We had a lot of pesos/cash on hand as we were traveling on the El Chepe, which doesn’t take cards. We were able to setup a tab so we could charge to the room, but we had to request it—it wasn’t automatic like it is at many hotels. And unfortunately this hotel and the one with the restaurant don’t communicate with each other. So we’d end up with a $50 peso charge for a cup of Jamaica even though the meal was included, which we needed to pay with a credit card. Again, lots of annoying micro-transactions and bank charges.

3. Our booking included meals but the strict schedule didn’t work for us.

4. The look of the room was nice. It had been remodeled, but there were issues. The front door would only open halfway and a poor tile job basically flooded the bathroom every time we showered.

5. The bedding consisted of a top sheet. That’s it. We found some blankets in the closet but they weren’t really enough. It was very, very cold at night.

It’s unfortunate because the property itself and the staff are lovely.

I called Expedia wanting to update my reservation on the Expedia platform only to get disconnected 😡. I was having trouble updating my reservation on the app to include a double occupancy. the app did not have my reservation! We ended up having to pay more due this inefficiency. The worst part was calling Expedia customer service, only to get hug up on.

Avoid Balderrama Collection Hotels!

Careful with this hotel, they don’t have a coffee machine in the whole hotel, heaters don’t work, forniture is old with the excuse it’s rustic, there is no cell data and barely signal for calls, there’s no internet, they say that it’s not working for now but reviews from 2017 saying the same. There is bad attitude from the personnel there, cleaned up our room and they didn’t put more toilet paper, it’s so close to train station that you will hear it on your head so loud at midnight and 6 am. Parking lot is so tight and personnel sey, you can park wherever you want. There’s no food, coffee or bar there, with the excuse you go to their most expensive hotel near there, where they will charge you 20 dollars for a dinner, that the accountant of the hotel described that has meat, poultry and salads, having grilled chicken, ground meat, spaghetti and a salad with only tomatoes and lettuce... and they charge you for drinks on top.

Stay there as a last resort. Avoid Balderrama Collection Hotels, they serve you cheap and charge you expensive.

Service Desk personnel lack basic communication skills, sense of service, attitude and helpfulness. Shuttle drivers are really helpful though.
They allegedly offer food but you need to go to the neighboring hotel to get anything (20 min walk) and it’s only in service during really specific hours. I definitely didn’t feel welcomed here and will at all costs avoid any other hotels from the Balderrama group.

The room price was excellent and the place is very attractive. The staff member who met us at the train station was an especially nice touch. I also like the fact that it was an easy walk to Los Mogueyes restaurant where Benesa prepared home cooked meals for around 100 pesos. We ate there serveral times and found the chicken enchiladas the best.

The hotel itself is actually quite nice. The rooms are kind of different so depending on where you stay you might get a bigger bathroom or a flat screen tv.

Oir pirchase included breakfast. At first there was some confusion on wether it was actually free but the receptionist was very kind and was able to confirm it was included.

If you arrive via chepe they also pick you up and drop you off.

The nearby town doesn't offer much. Don't bother staying more than a night.

The hotel was in acceptable condition. It's very rural and there is no where really to eat or shop nearby. They know this and jack up their food prices (at the hotel up the hill with the same owner). It's a fixed price menu for about $20 USD per person (very expensive in Mexico.) The wifi was slow.

Hotel is at Chepe station km 626 (not 622 as advertised). The hotel is pleasant and quiet but the staff are lacking in customer service skills. They do not know the local area ( I was give a lot of inaccurate information). They do not follow through (I was dropped off at the adventure park and they did not return for pickup). There is no food or drink onsite - they refer all meals and activities to the sister hotel a 10 minute walk away (which is extremely overpriced). I requested a horseback tour - it never happened (the staff failed to schedule it). The local area is very beautiful and scenic but the staff really ruined my experience here with their lack of attention!

Bed bugs, and 3” roaches. Staff is too busy fooling around, they don’t attend well and have a horrible attitude. I was charged breakfast twice. The ticket to go eat and the time of check-out. I was attacked, mocked and yelled at by the staff until I paid. All employees of all hotels are related or friends and have each other’s back, wasn’t able to leave either way nor catch a ride to my destination since they’re the only form of transportations. Stay in Creel and transport to the park like my friends, better service, prices, and things to do.
DONT STAY HERE!

We came to see the Barrancas de Cobre. There is no view from this hotel, but it is right beside the station. There were no facilities at this hotel, it felt like a poor relation to its big sister up the hill, the Mirador, which had spectacular views. We had to go there for breakfast and dinner and anything else we may have needed! It was not clear if this was low season or not, but it seemed quite empty and there were a few workmen around working on the fences, roofs, front desk and more. Given a choice with hindsight, I would stay up the road in the Mirador.

Would not recommend, No staff around, I finally found someone in laundry and they called someone from another hotel to check us in. I was told the room was not paid for. Took a lot of insistence including the paid receipt for her to do further research.
The room assigned was between two other rooms- the only other guests in this ample hotel, We had the late nighters on one side and the early mourners on the other. The bed had springs about to escape so not very comfortable.
The promised iWIFI had been shut off the week before. The only food or drink near here was a 15 minute walk away. (Someone brought hot water at night for tea or instant coffee and was was a dirty old 5 gal water bottle.
The good thing about this stay was the included breakfast that was included in the price.. we had been traveling around Mexico for 3 weeks mainly eating at local cafes or street venders with no problems with food or water/ice. My usual strong constitution was challenged almost, causing me too missed the wonderful 7 line zip line (which was fabulous).
This was in Oct 2017 and a lower tourist time, and it felt like they kept this facility open because of the laundry and furniture repair area.

Hotel Barrancas del Cobre was overbooked so we got transferred to sister Hotel El Mirador
Our room had a balcony that had a beautiful view of the Copper Canyon. Room and facilities were very clean. Staff was very friendly and had a peaceful environment.
The only thing is that we had to wait to check out in the morning. We were going to check out at 7am but nobody was there. Had to wait until 9am
Hopefully, staff can get there earlier to be available for check in and check outs.
Also, dinner was very pricy. It was about $29 per person ($500 pesos)

Beautiful rooms with heating and a fireplace (no air conditioning/no fan).There is no town---only the 2 hotels: Hotel Barrancas del Cobre & EL Mirador (owned by the same company). Great for relaxing, reading, hiking, and only a short ride from the Adventure Park (Aerial tram known as \"teleferico\" & the longerst zip line in the world-110 km-2 minute ride!)

Affordable hotel close to Copper Canyon

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Barrancas del Cobre for 2 nights while visiting Copper Canyon and riding El Chpe Tren. By the way, the Chepe train stop for this hotel is \"Posada Barrancas\" and NOT \"Divisadero\"...it's only a 5 min walk from the \"Posada Barrancas\" stop. We were very pleased with our visit. The price of this hotel is much lower than Hotel El Mirador, which is a ~15 walk uphill (but there's also transport if you don't feel like walking). Although this hotel doesn't have the view of the Mirador, it's a sister hotel & guests can use all the facilities of the Mirador, including the restaurant (which was great for breakfast but only so-so/overpriced for dinner) with a beautiful overlook of the canyon, the shops, and the nice walking tour around the area. The Hotel Barrancas del Cobre has more of a hostel feel, with an open area to play pool & guitar and to buy drinks. It was nice to socialize with people in the lobby. Also, there is a town nearby with a really cute/recommendable restaurant (~15 min walk), close to the small chapel/church. The hotel itself is a bit old, but it was comfortable, and the reason I give 5 stars is really because of Karla, the receptionist, who was SUPER helpful. She organized our tour to the nearby Adventure Park (highly recommendable!!), and she helped us to get cash for the bus, when there weren't any ATMs nearby. A few more tips: bring lots of cash, because there are no ATMs and very poor data/internet everywhere in this area.

Good value annex accommodation

Hotel Barrancas del Cobre is effectively the overflow hotel for Hotel Mirador. When we arrived, there were no staff at the hotel, and so we walked up to the Mirador (about 10 minutes walk up through a wooded area). Staff there were aware of the booking and arranged a car to take us back down and let us into our rooms.

The Barrancas del Cobre has limited facilities - a pool table and a communal TV lounge - with all the other facilities (reception, bar and restaurant, shop, etc.) up at the Mirador. Likewise, there are no real views from the BdC - they are all up at the canyon-rim located Mirador.

One thing to watch out for - the address is misleading! It appeared as Est Posada, KM 622 - but Est Posada is at KM 626, whereas KM 622 is Divisadero station. The hotel is actually beside the Posada station at KM 626!

Otherwise, the staff were friendly, the set-menu food was Italian, the rooms were clean.

Happily recommend for an overnight at Posadas Barrancas train station. Just a few minutes walk up to the edge of the Canyon and the amazing views. Food and drink at the partner hotel El Mirador was very expensive. Turn right out of the hotel and there is a little restaurant for breakfast and great quesadillas and burritos.

Room is okay for price. Hotel ist just besides the railway station Barrancas del Cobre.
For food you have to walk up hill to Hotel Mirrador. Food there is quite expensive, but there is no other option. Very nice is hike to adventure park (approx 30 min). You can then also save the very high transport cost to get there.
Check in process was slow. We also lost a pair of sock in the room.

Great location for a budget hotel at barrancas. Located right next to the train station. Take the shuttle or a 10 min walk up the hill to the Mirador sister hotel for the most amazing views of the canion. Breakfast with a view is included at the sister hotel and for 200 pesos they will take you to the adventure park and 3 viewing point and back on time for the train...

No me parece q incluyen el desayuno en la reservación pero no ofrecen el mismo menú para todos, a otros huéspedes les ofrecieron jugo y verduras como espinacas y a su servidora y acompañante no nos lo mencionaron dentro del menú, acaso dan prioridad a unos sobre otros. Lo que ignoro es si así son todos el equipo de meseros o solo algunos. Por lo demás todo excelente. Sobre todo las señoritas a cargo de recepción y de cafetería y los conductores de la camioneta q nos trasladan.

El hotel es muy bonito y cómodo, tienes que saber que al hospedarte ahí no hay nada que puedas comer a los alrededores, hay servicio de restaurante pero para ello debes avisar a recepción para que te lleven a otro de los hoteles de la misma cadena y los precios son altos por una cena de tres tiempos.
Por lo demás si quieres descansar y relajarte al maximo este es el lugar!!
El traslado a la estación del tren (incluído en el precio) fue excelente, nos apoyaron hasta que partimos en el tren!! Muy bien 👌

La única ventaja es que el hotel se encuentra afuera de la estación de Barrancas del Cobre, pero le falta mucho mantenimiento al hotel, en mi cuarto no servia la calefacción, no tiene Wifi, había una gotera en el lavabo, el personal de recepción no se encontraba a nuestra llegada y tuvimos que esperar mas de 45 minutos para hacer el check in, los cobros por trasladarte al parque barrancas en su transporte se nos hizo un abuso el querer cobrar 170 pesos por persona para trasladarte 3 km y es la única opción o tomar la decisión de caminar.

Bonito hotel en medio de la nada,

El personal casi no hay, solo una muchacha en recepción que no encontraba nuestra reservación por lo que nos quería volver a cobrar.

Los alimentos carísimos $390 por persona, no es a la carta es lo que ellos preparen ideal para pasar solo una noche si solo vas al parque de aventura barrancas del cobre conviene regresar a CREEL ya que no hay nada mas, el traslado al parque 150 por persona pero como no hay algún transporte tienes que tomarlo a fuerza. Es ideal moverse de CREEL a los diferentes puntos de las barrancas.

Si viajas en tren se encuentra justo junto a la estación de Posada Barrancas. Sin embargo se encuentra lejos del pueblo. Las comidas en el hotel de buena calidad pero muy caras y de poca variedad de donde elegir porque son menús cerrados

No cumplen lo que ofrecen: la página del hotel ofrece pan y café para el desayuno, pero al momento de pedirlo te lo niegan, mientras el personal consume libremente el café y la ensalada de su cafetería.

El personal es muy amable, el hotel muy bonito y muy acogedor. Recomendable para descansar y salir de la rutina.

Mi reservación con la app de Hotels.com no estaba cuando intenté hacer el chek-in de mi habitación, originalmente había reservado día noches e incluía el desayuno, después cambié fechas e incluí otra noche y resulta que mi reservación no incluía desayuno ($500) por día por desayuno :( muy mal. Mi habitación no tenia la cama king size que reservé y en lugar de pantalla plana había una tele vieja. La habitacion muy limpia y el baño muy bien, la recepcionista muy atenta y los chicos que realizan los traslados brindan una excelente atención. Recomiendo comer en el \"Restaurante los Magueyes \" a 5 minutos caminando, es muchísimo más barato que comer en el hotel. En general está muy bonito el hotel pero no recibí aquello por lo que pagué.

El hotel es sumamente cómodo, a unos cuantos metros de la estación del chepe en Posada Barrancas, cercas esta una tienda y mas abajo frente a la iglesia un restaurante llamado los Maguellitos; Cruzando la vía están unas escaleras que te dirige a el hotel hermano

Hotel bonito en Barrancas del Cobre

Hubiera esperado que me llamaran para avisarme en que parada del tren debía bajar, ya que baje con todo y maletas y alguien del pueblo me dijo que debía era en la siguiente parada, así que volví a subir y llamé al hotel para confirmar y si, debía bajar en la siguiente. Llegando había alguien que nos recibió y ayudó con maletas y si, el hotel es muy bonito, pero no tiene servicio de alimentos, salvo algunos snacks, lo que complica un poco las cosas porque en la zona no hay nada de nada. El personal es amable. Tome 2 tours con ellos, uno a pie con un maratonista raramuri que explica su cultura y datos de interés, muy recomendable y otro al Parque Barrancas, el cual tiene actividades increíbles de aventura pero tiene una organización pésima y ni el guía del tour ni los empleados del parque dan la información completa y correcta, total que no tuve la oportunidad de realizar ninguna de las actividades por su desorganización. Y todavía me no me envían mi factura.

Excelente, a orilla de la estación Posada Barranca

Muy bonito hotel, desde que llegas a la estación del tren ya hay un vehículo para llevarte al hotel, es hotel hermano con el Hotel Mirador por lo que puedes pasar el día en el Mirador y regresar a tu habitación a dormir, todo muy bien, solo le faltaría tener opciones para cenar en el hotel

En medio del la sierra, experiencia inigualable

Es un hotel muy bonito, personal súper amable, sólo que las amenidades o alimentos y bebidas son muy caras, es mejor comprar suministros fuera del hotel, hay tienditas cerca.
Pero las habitaciones son muy bonitas y ponen bastantes cobijas extras por si baja la temperatura.

Hotel muy agradable pero sin cocina, te tienen que trasladar a otro hotel \"hermano\" muy cercano para los alimentos. No te dan opciones de menu, solo puedes comer el único plato que se haya preparado a un precio caro, aunque la comida está DELICIOSA.
