Lovely room (junior suite) with all amenities you would want for a lovely stay in Budapest. Breakfast was a pleasant assortment of hot and cold in a remarkable restaurant right next door to the hotel. Lovely bathroom with heated floor and perfectly hot and powerful shower (very much appreciated in January Budapest temperatures!). I highly recommend Callas Hotel for a pleasant, quiet and trouble free stay in the very central heart of the city.

The room and staff were lovely until Thursday night when apparently there was a club below, very loud music and bass until early into the morning, got not sleep before an international flight the next morning. The hotel could have provide some information before hand, too nice of a hotel for that.

You cannot find a place like this hotel anymore. Great building, period room/suite with solid wood accents, and period armoire. Amazing view from large window of the Budapest Opera House. Close to the Rodéo Drive of Budapest with Gucci, Omega, Rolex stores. Adjacent to cozy bars and pubs featuring Hungarian dishes as well as all others.
BUT, most appealing was the receptionist/conciege tandem of Laslo and lidikó. Beyond helpfu, beyond friendly, their responsiveness and timely introductions to Budapest made the start of our 50th anniversary travel memorable.

The Callas House hotel is located in an old apartment building right next to Budapest Opera House. It is full of character and charm. Our suite was spacious and comfortable. The staff is very friendly, attentive and welcoming. The location is amazing as it is central and we walked all over town. It’s an absolute gem with an old fashion flair that is quite appealing.

This beautiful hotel was in a great location, close to many attractions and restaurants. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was a little dark and the shower water got all over the floor. The breakfast buffet was delicious but only white bread for an option if you eat gluten free. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend!!

Front desk was 24/7 with friendly and helpful staff. Location was good. The place was inside an old building taking up couple floors. Did not get the chance to try out the in-house breakfast provided because the restaurant was closed one day and we had to check out super early the next day. The stay was an experience to us. Personally, we'd prefer to stay in a \"traditional\" hotel if visiting Budapest again.

The reception was a great experience. We were checked in early and treated warmly. He was very helpful in the booking of our thermal bathes experience and even offered towels to take along. We had a very early flight, he arranged transfer for 6 to the airport that was very prompt and reliable. We loved our room, it was large and well appointed. The included breakfast was better than expected with hot and cold options. We would highly recommend this confidently located and reasonable hotel.

Best front desk and hotel for 5 nights stay

If you are lucky enough to get to stay ata Callas, you would be a very lucky visitor of Budapest. Location is best the the office manager, Ms. Ildiko, was the most informative, helpful and kindest in my hundreds of overseas trips. We got to visit the best restaurant in the city and by passed the other tourist trap places thanks to her. Callas has best location with Opera House right next door where we got last minute tickets to see Figaro. You can walk everywhere with numerous dining venues and piers for tourist boats nearby. Hop On & Off bus stop is on the street, but we ne ver took it as Uber was reasonable & ready to go, so we didn't ahve to wait time walking and learning to take subways and buses in Hungarian language. There are only 28 rooms so book early. We ahve 2 roof top balconies from our 700 s.f. suite, so we couldn't have asked for a better room in town.

The Callas House is a beautiful hotel. Our room was very spacious with a view of the Opera House. The location is perfect, easy to walk around Budapest. We received a warm welcome and we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel until check in. Breakfast was wonderful. Bed was very comfortable. Pillow was too hard but they immediately provided a softer one. The laundry facilities mentioned in the amenities list is about 400 meters away. Each load was 9 euros. We would highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again if we come back to Budapest. Thank you

A charming stay in Budapest

A charming stay in a historical building right next to the Hungarian State Opera. The room was spacious with elegant, classical decor and art deco touches throughout. I especially loved the window view with a glimpse of the Opera House.

The location is excellent—just a 3-minute walk to Opera metro station and around 11 minutes to Deák Ferenc tér, where you can catch the airport shuttle.

The bed was comfortable, and the room came with thoughtful amenities including a high-quality Marshall speaker, slippers, and a full set of toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, and body lotion). A stylish and convenient choice in the heart of Budapest.

One of the very best, spend your time here!

Everything was wonderful. We asked for dinner recommendations from our check in attendant, and happily provided some local cuisine suggestions and a wonderful cafe. The hotel is immaculately restored, with thoughtful touches throughout the rooms and hallways (including design schematics for the renovation and redesign).

Of all the hotels we’ve stayed at in Europe, this may be the best one. Our rooftop terrace was so charming (great views after dark), the ac is SCREAMING cold (if that’s your thing) and the bed is EXTRA comfortable in the cold AC. Complimentary water tops it off, and a mini bar in room is a nice touch. The bathroom is the only complaint I had, as the toilet seat didn’t really fit the toilet it was attached to.

This is a quirky, unique property in a historic building. We liked our room, which has a comfortable bed, balcony looking out over the city, skylights, and antique furniture. The bathroom is small, but functional. Our only criticisms are that the wireless Internet did not work, and even though we arrived at midnight, the front desk person refused our request for a late check out. Free breakfast came with our meal, but we did not take advantage of that.

This is a lovely little hotel right across the street from the Opera House in downtown Budapest. I believe they have 44 rooms. And the staff is excellent. They are helpful. We had an executive king size room that was exquisite. The view was wonderful. The breakfast in the morning was the best breakfast we have ever had. Any the staff The girl who worked the night of the third in the morning of the fourth deserves a huge race because she is so helpful so willing to carry a bag do anything and she is extremely talented and very calm and very, very, very happy to explain things to you I would recommend this to anybody and The cleanliness the hospitality was excellent. It used to be a home that was four stories, and the people lived there in the first two levels and rented out rooms and the other levels and then after the war, it was lost to the Germans and then I don’t know how many years ago they came in and established a hotel and if you’d like something that is not a Marriott a Hilton but a classy hotel that’s personalized and has so much history. It’s the place to go the callous house hotel is 10 stars plus we were there May 3 and left the fourth of this year if you’re going to Budapest or you’re going on a river cruise use this as a hotel because it puts you in Central downtown Budapest and it’s only a cab ride to where the biking ships leave. Thank you. Hope you enjoy it if you ever do go we loved it, Sally and Denny third fourth of May 2025.

This was a hotel I booked for my boyfriend as a birthday present, the hotel couldn’t have been better. The lady at the front desk was so lovely & accommodating, she also gave us a lovely gift for my partners birthday celebrations.
The location couldn’t have been better it was located near everything we wanted to go to, we just walked and used public transport everywhere!!
The room was gorgeous and one of my favourites I’ve stayed in in Europe!

When the cab dropped us at the hotel, we could see all kinds of high-end shopping and the Callas Restaurant, but only a large pair of wooden doors that had a smaller door cut into them. No significant entrance or signage, and the doors were locked. Fortunately, a guest who was having breakfast in the restaurant showed us where and how to get into the hotel.

Inside, we were in a large room with some steps off to the right and a sign that said reception was on the THIRD floor. The he staff was courteous and accommodating, and regardless of anyone waiting, he took us up to and into our room.

The room was as shown on the photos already posted, under the roof, with steps up to a balcony that is designed for smokers, but not for the scenic view of the opera house next door - the stone railing is substantial and high.

The room and bathroom were kept clean and well supplied, and we had no complaints. The peculiarities of the structure is probably due to its age and previous usage.

The stand alone restaurant next door served a nice breakfast and delicious dinner. Be a are that you should probably make a reservation, because on nights the opera house is open, they’re booked.

We have only one problem about our stay that should be noted for improvement to be made. The frontal door is not signed as it should be for a hotel that gets 4/5 stars. There is no display on lifgt that reception is on 3rd floor and the two lower floors - where embassy of ecuador and another firm have their offices - have nothing to do with the hotel. We are told this lack of signage has been pointed out to owner a number of times but he fails to do anything about it.
Having said that the terrace room is marvellous, the receptionist staff are marvellous as is the restaurant on ground floor and we would stay there again

This is a great boutique type hotel across from the Budapest Opera. We were in the 2 bedroom suite with the terrace in which you get great sunset views of Budapest. The suite was very large - probably a great space for 2 couples. We were only there for 1 night but would definitely recommend this hotel. Great space and everything is within walking distance.

Perfect location -

Firstly this hotel is situated on the 3rd and 4th floor of an old apartment building, which is accessed by a lift or stairs. This gives it a bit of an unconventional feel, but which I loved. It is located on a main road, right beside the Opera house and within a 5 minute walk to St Stephen’s Basilica. As a solo traveler, the location was fantastic, I could more or less walk everywhere and at no time did I feel unsafe walking back to the hotel after dark. The Metro was virtually outside the hotel if needed.
Staff very helpful, room large and clean. Rooms were cleaned and fresh towels provided daily.
My only negative and it is a very small one, was the hotel itself was hard to find as it was not well signposted, only a very small sign on the front door of the building. This could definitely be improved. That saying, if I’m ever lucky enough to visit Budapest again, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Filthy - dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at

Whilst the hotel itself is decorated to a very high standard, the cleaning really let the rooms down (see images for yourself). Rubbish left in the bathroom, hairs, dusty extractor fan, water marks, dust over all of the wooden doorframes/ doors, dirty floors especially in the corners which had been neglected for time, and worst of all under the bed and tv stand. I have NEVER seen a room more filthy than this. I only check under the furniture when we leave to make sure nothing was missed. Don’t know how it could get this bad - clear under the furniture had not been cleaned for years. If this the visible cleanliness imagine how dirty the things you can’t see are. Do NOT stay here. It also does not have air con.

Excellent stay in Budapest!

Callas house is a lovely hotel right next to the opera house, so it is very central. The room we had was big and clean. The bed was huge. The bathroom was clean and lots of towels. The blackout blinds were great. They made sure we always had plenty of toiletries. The cleaners left the room spotless everyday. The reception was fantastic and really helpful. The breakfast was great but the only thing was that there could have been a slight change in the hot food offered e.g. bacon. The breakfast was perfect for us over a weekend but might get quite repetitive if you were staying for longer. The bread at breakfast was delicious and fresh. Overall a fantastic stay.

Without a doubt this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The area is so incredibly beautiful, as well as the hotel itself being a stunning place to stay, the room we had was absolutely incredible. When we return to Budapest, this will be the only place we will stay.

I had an enjoyable stay. The lady who checked me in was delightful and walked me to my room and was horrified that there was a single pillow case that hasn't been ironed and immediately took it away. I found it amusing, but it shows their high standards.

The only downside was the entrance is not easy to find.

Highly Recommend

Beautiful room with a great dual terrace view to the Opera and to Andrassy. Staff were helpful and kind. Definitely recommend this hotel as the location is great and the on site restaurant was also beautiful with very good Hungarian fare.

Callas House is a very quaint boutique hotel. This hotel is located in a great area, a convenient location to access all Budapest offers. We will recommend Callas House to anyone who asks for accommodations when in Budapest.

Nice boutique hotel across from the Opera House

Beautiful, modern hotel right across from the Opera House. It wasn't super easy to find at first since the hotel is located on the 3rd floor of a building that looked otherwise mostly unoccupied. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms spacious and well-equipped.

Strange entrance to the building but once you are on the third floor and greeted by friendly helpful staff, the situation is fine. Extremely unique rooms and very convenient to many places. We attended the nutcracker at the opera house which was right next door! If I ever get a chance to visit Budapest again, I would definitely stay here.
