No problems with the hotel itself all clean & tidy bar staff great. Just wasnt to pleased about people trying to get into my room banging the door at 4am 6am in the morning not great when id a long drive ahead of me, also the band that eventually turned up over 1 and half hrs late to the stage, the tickets i purchased stated 10pm to 1am they didnt get onto stage until near 12 midnight, the band was good for the 15 mins of them i seen.

The hotel is in a great location, but very mundane overall. We had a relatively small room for the price we paid. Small matters such as plastic cups in the bathrooms, lack of conditioner in the shower or skin moisturizer in the bathroom are notable in comparison to other hotels where we have stayed. Very limited television options, even just for news. Overall, the hotel serves a purpose and was safe, but it’s not a place I would go out of the way to use again.

Love this hotel in the heart of Donegal. What a cool little town. So close to everything. 3 carparks in the area, and so many little shops, pubs and restaurants. The hotel was great, room was fine in size for the night we stayed and amenities were fine.

he Abbey Hotel is centrally located in Donegal Town, which made it incredibly convenient for walking around, sightseeing, and enjoying local restaurants and shops. That said, there are a couple of things future guests should be aware of: the hotel does not have air conditioning, and unfortunately, this isn't clearly stated on Expedia. My room was very warm, and with the window barely opening, there was little airflow to cool things down — especially uncomfortable for those of us who tend to run hot. This definitely affected the comfort level of my stay.
Overall, the location and staff were great, but the lack of A/C and limited ventilation in the room are important factors to consider, especially if you're traveling during warmer months.

My sister, brother in law, husband and myself stayed at the Abbey hotel while on a road trip through Ireland. Unfortunately my brother in law passed while we were in Donegal town. Eirleene and the team could not have been more supportive, understanding and accommodating. Upon entering the room immediately hit by loud humming and clanking noise. Talked to the front desk person and asked what could be done for the noise, they offered to send a handy person to check it out while we were out for dinner. After dinner came back to the front desk and they assured me that the noise was from the kitchen fan and would stop as soon as the dinner service was over which would be soon. We went up to our room where we realized there was only one cup for tea. Having had an unfriendly exchange with the front desk, my husband went down for a second cup. While we we’re getting ready for bed the toilet paper holder fell off the wall and I noticed that there was a sticky substance on my bedside table. The noise continued through the night and I was woken many times. In the light of the next day noticed many additional things about the room that were unclean: all surfaces sticky, crumbs on the chair, and the most disgusting was a used bandaid stuck to the headboard.
While checking out I informed the person at the front desk about all the issues. They told me that there were many rooms and I should have requested a room change. I explained that that option wasn’t provided the previous night when I asked about the noise and we didn’t notice most of the uncleanliness until the morning light. The front desk person continued to blame me for not getting a new room. Shocking lack of customer service.

Quick stay no to 4th floor
Quick 8pm to 11am stay on path elsewhere. Preface with hotel under construction but prices the same. Got given 4th floor room. Clearly a room they have not got to yet. Bathroom decent- room old musty no Internet and no tv channels paint peeling off wall. Walked past 3rd floor room as elevator goes to 4 only. And it was nicer. Superb location for a quick stay in donegal town. Centrally located.

Noisy rooms beware
Room was noisy with an extractor fan just outside our room. Even with the window closed it was noisy. We complained and even though it was turned off it still made a noise. We complained a further 3 times before we were reluctantly moved. If you get this room complain immediately you will know as it is noisy when you enter the room, don’t accept that it will be fine when it is turned off later in the evening, as we were told.

Our room was uncomfortably warm at all times during our stay (late June and it was NOT a heat wave). No A/C and a window that could only be opened a couple of inches. The loud late-night noise from the pub and club goers who hung around in front of the hotel until well after 3 AM after the bars closed made it hard to sleep, especially if we needed to open the window to try to cool the room. Overnight staff was unsympathetic to our situation.
