What a nice find. The view out of our bedroom window was exceptional with the Acropolis less than a mile away. The hotel is in the center of Athens close to two Metro Lines and plenty of restaurants. The staff were extremely helpful and the rooms was clean with bedding changed each day. Can't wait to go back!

Very good location. This is a small, 84 years old building, family-run hotel and the staff are amazing. We arrived very early in the morning and asked of they could store our luggage. Not only did they help with that, but they also allowed us to check in early since our room hadn't been occupied the night before-without extra charge.

When we checked out the next morning, the owner asked if we had visited the rooftop, which we hadn't. He encouraged us to go up and see it, and the view was breathtaking.

I would love to come back if I have the chance.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Metropolis prior to taking a cruise and are very happy with this property. From its location in Plaka near the Acropolis and other points of interest including a multitude of shopping and dining choices as well as proximity to public transportation, this hotel delivers.

Having arrived at night, the next morning greeted us with a stunning view of the Acropolis from our room. As well, this hotel has an amazing rooftop terrace with still even better views of the Acropolis. For these reasons alone the Hotel Metropolis is a top choice for your next stay in Athens.

However, it is the staff and management that sealed it for us. We encountered unexpected difficulties when our cruise was cancelled. An early return home was not feasible as it was prohibitively expensive to rebook our flight. Instead, we decided to make the best of it and see even more of Athens. Hotel Metropolis staff and management were very accommodating by allowing us to extend our stay.

As the date of our return flight was approaching, we were advised by our airline that it too was cancelled. Not only did Hotel Metropolis again accommodate us for a couple extra days, but they provided us with a room with a large wrap-around balcony. The compassion and kindness shown to us by the staff and management were truly appreciated. And this is the most important reason our next stay in Athens will be with Hotel Metropolis.

アテネにはトータル8泊、いろいろなタイプのホテル(2星～5星まで)に宿泊しましたが、このホテルの一番素敵な所はルーフトップです。ルーフトップからはメトロポリス大聖堂とアクロポリスがとても綺麗に見れます。フロントは狭いですが、親切なスタッフさんが24時間いてくれるので、とても安心です。プラカ地区のど真ん中なので、ロケーションと便利さは申し分なく、治安も良いです。2星ホテルなのでアメニティはボディーソープ・シャンプー程度で、お茶や水などありませんが、便利で安全な場所で費用を抑えたいなら最高のホテルだと思います。

We stayed for 2 nights and it was a great place to stay. The staff were really nice and the room was very clean and had what we needed. We chose a room with a view and loved it! We could sit in the balcony and watch the city moment with a beautiful view of the Partenon. We loved the location, as we could visit the main attractions by foot, besides being near to restaurants, souvenir stores and even a supermarket. There was no breakfast though during winter, but there are plenty of coffee shops around. We totally recommend it.

Don’t get me started with the state of the elevator! Door was missing on one side !

The staff was friendly and very helpful. The beds were not new but comfortable. The 5th floor family room view and balcony was absolutely incredible. The location was amazing, walking distance to all the sites. The cleanliness and upkeep of the room could be better. It felt like a lot of \"do if yourself\" work was done by someone that wasn't entirely qualified. For example, the shower head was installed a bit wonky and the toilet seat moved around. But like I said before, I was willing to deal with a few hiccups for the view, the location, and the price point.

The older gentleman at the desk was very helpful and accomodating. We got there early and exhausted from the cruise and he warmly greeted and let us check in early. That was the best part of the day. There’s a rooftop seating on the 5th floor that offers great views of the acropolis. It was a great experience.

The staff was am courteous and helpful. The hotel is in a great location and a reasonable price. The room was clean and had a long balcony although it was not wide. Breakfast is available on the rooftop terrace for an additional fee and it was plenty to eat including eggs made to order. The only downside to this hotel is that you need to carry your luggage up about 8 steps before you can get to the elevator. But otherwise, it was great and we would definitely stay there again!!

The Hotel Metropolis is affordable, friendly and family run with an ideal location for those who like to explore on foot. It is located an easy walk half way between the Syntagma and Monastiraki Metro stations. The view of the acropolis from the rooftop breakfast terrace is excellent.
One warning for those who are overweight, unfit or travelling with a lot of luggage; some rooms are small, the elevator is extremely small and the winding staircase is narrow and steep.

The location was great and the rooftop terrace was incredible. My room was run down and not like the pictures, the hooks in the bathroom repeatedly fell when a towel was hung up, and I could hear every time someone let the elevator door slam no matter the floor they were on. Also I was asked my room number out loud and in front of people every morning when I left (I assume for housekeeping purposes) but as a single woman traveling alone that is very unsafe.

Overall I'd say this is an OK place to stay for one person or possibly a couple. I got a standard room with a double bed so it was a bit small, and the bathroom was small as well. Some of the furniture looked a bit worn and daamged (mainly the desk) but the bed was comfortable and the rooftop area was a plus (with view of the Acropolis). I would probably stay here again if I'm in the area again, and I guess the price reflected what I got, which is pretty good considering this hotel is within walking distance of most key areas of Athens (Acropolis, Monistraki, Plaka, Syntagma Square, etc). It's just the condition and size of the room are the only \"issues\" for me (there was stuff left under the bed so it doesn't look like it was swept very well for example, and the desk was damaged a bit but other than that, the room was fine. Elevator is very small so if you have a lot of bags or large bags, this can be a challenge as it's kind of like an industrial elevator than a regular elevator you might find elsewhere (it's narrow and small). The stairs are also narrow and small compared to other place I've stayed in Europe. But the breakfast and the Acropolis views did make it more worth it (plus it's location within Athens).

Cleanliness wasn’t the best. The bathroom had a lot of issues.
It’s in the middle of a shopping center so we expected noise. We don’t realize the church next to it rang a bell for each hour and on the half hour all day and all night. We were fortunate and had the 5th floor apartment facing the acropolis so that was a win. Overall I would probably look elsewhere next time although the staff was wonderful.

The budget room is small but , clean and comfortable. The Acropolis view from the room deck was unreal! The breakfast on the deck was great with a fresh omelet and toast.
You are in the middle of Monistriaki with restaurants everywhere.
The metro to the Airport is a 5 minute walk away.
Great staff and very quiet considering where you are. Highly recommend.

I have never been led astray when relying on Trip Advisor and Expedia reviews until now. I know the cheap rate is tempting, but don’t do it. The pictures are not even remotely close to what the room looked like. The room was absurdly small, but that’s not the worst part. It was so incredibly loud all night, it sounded like our window was open (it wasn’t, it was just poor sound proofing or bad window/door seals). There’s absolutely no sound proofing or insulation between rooms, you can hear it all! There were no advertised pictures of the bathroom for the double room and for good reason. The shower was so small that you could not turn the water on all the way or the floor would get wet. The bathroom smelled like sewage constantly, not sure if it was the dirty shower curtain or a sewage pipe issue. We hated going back to the hotel room. That’s one of the only times I’ve felt that way and I’ve travelled on a budget many times. It was a good location, but there are other options in that location, check those out, I wish I had.

We were staying there for one night, there was a bug on my pillow, when we told the front office, the young guy was very helpful and moved us to another room although it was a hassle to move our luggage. The next morning when we were checking out an older man was at the front desk and when we told him about the bug he became very offensive and disrespectful. We didn’t like his attitude so we canceled the other night stay at the end of the trip. The location is ok but rooms are very old.

Amazing location, helpful staff, clean, perfect air conditioning, but the mattress was a little older/well used than we expected. Also, the church nearby has a loud bell that chimes at least once every half hour. It did not bother us much, but it could be something to be aware of.

Roof top view of the acropolis was great, and having a balcony in the area was lovely for relaxing when we arrived and after running all over Athens.

The property is located in a great location about a 15 min walk to the Akropolis, and about 10 min to the Metro 3 to the airport. The rooms are tiny, as is the bathroom, but the shower was modern with good water flow from the top as well as a side spray. We had a very enjoyable dinner at a restaurant just around the corner. Breakfast at the rooftop is a definite highlight as you see the Akropolis. Since we weren't planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel, it didn't matter to us that the room was so tiny. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. There is a tiny (2 person) elevator that was working well and helpful since my husband had sprained his ankle a few days earlier. About 10 yards from the hotel entrance is a small Maria Callas (the opera singer) museum that we very much enjoyed . The Parliament (the changing of the guards every hour) and the National gardens (free) are about a ten minute walk and also a nice place to walk around. The hotel is about a two star, but because of location and rooftop breakfast and cleanliness I would definitely consider staying there again, especially if it is just one or two nights.

This property has such an amazing rooftop view with the church and the Acropolis, it makes this place worth it! The property is older, but the view and location can't be beat. You walk through the Plaka neighborhood to get to the Acropolis, and it's a beautiful area. Walkable from the Syntagma subway stop in the business district. Walkable to the Monastriki neighborhood, which is NOT a lovely area because of all the graffiti. A walking shopping/ eating street is 2 blocks away, but i would recommend the atmosphere of the restaurants in Plaka. Front desk is on property 24/7 and wonderfully friendly and helpful. Helped us get a cab for 4 am. I highly recommend if they are available!

We would never stay at this property again or recommend. The older gentleman at the desk was rude. The hotel rooms are so tiny you can barely walk around the bed to get to the other side. There is NO room for luggage. The shower is super tight and water sprays all over the bathroom floor. It is extremely noisy ALL the time. The church bells are lovely to hear but not every 30 minutes. And the traffic noise is extremely loud.

Does have some noise from shopping area at night but you are in the heart of Plaka.
If you want something cheap for a couple nights near every thing this is great. If you want some luxury and no stairs then this will not suit you.

We booked a room with a balcony and Acropolis view. It did not disappoint! Amazing views from the balcony. This is exactly what we were looking for. The hotel staff is super friendly and always available. Would stay here again and recommend to everyone.

Very good location, close to Syntagma Square where you can pick up the X95 bus direct to the airport. The hotel has a rooftop terrace, accessible for all guests 24/7, with views of the Acropolis.
Staff are very nice and accommodating. The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful and kind. We were able to check in as early as 10:00 am without any additional fee.
