Very special stay

It was a beautiful stay. We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and i have contacted the resort beforehand to ask if they can make our dinner a little bit more special and we were surprised by the most beautiful dinner on the beach. Everything was so special. The rest of our stay was met by the mist friendliest, kind and respectful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Sara resort was a great place to stay. Beach front property. Food was good. Rooms clean. Friendly staff. Beautiful view. The only negative was Mic The designated tour and island information guy. Misleading. Claims to have been on the island 13 years yet locals say he just arrived. Speaks no Khmer. No information on other island. Led us to a walk to the beach which was unmarked and we got lost and I wished for more honesty and upfront with his knowledge. Disappointing and we just wondered why and what the purpose was for him to mislead info about his knowledge of island. We caught on quick. Go stay at Sara resort for sure but don’t waste time with mic!

Hotel on the beach. Beautiful sand and water for swimming. Hotel has a really great pool, pool bar and restaurant. Good choice of breakfast included. Other bars and restaurants close by. Had a couple of minor issues but the staff were excellent and were quick to fix. Booked for 1 week but extended for another!

Nice hotel. Chalets are a bit small but that's ok with me. It has all you need and would expect. Bear in mind it's on an island with limited facilities. Great pool area and right on the beach. Other beaches are walkable within about 30 minutes or so of hotel. Lots of bars and restaurants to the left and right of hotel, all along the beach. Very close to the ferry jetty. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again.

Koh Rong Sanloem is an amazing island - beautiful and chilled out. Sara Resort is located near to other restaurants etc in Saracen Bay. The resort staff were super friendly. Prices in the restaurant were more expensive than other local eating places, but the food was good. The pool and pool area were fantastic, with plenty of loungers. We had a budget AC room. Shower was good and air conditioning was ok. Mattress was super firm though, which meant uncomfortable nights sleep - they could do with either purchasing proper mattress toppers or memory foam mattresses. I asked for a topper and was given an extra duvet, which did little to make it comfortable. A shame, as that was the only negative to our stay.

Not a great experience staying here

The room was good. Their bath towels were not dirty but did not give a neat look too. I did not find the food to be great, that could be because I am vegetarian and so less options. We requested a check out by 10:45 AM as we finished having our breakfast at around 10 AM and needed some time to pack stuff. But they did not agree stating that we had an early check-in around 10 AM, After negotiating they came down by 15 mins. I was expecting them to be considerate. Overall, I did not have a great experience in this resort.

Great place just for the swim.

Place is very good, staff very polite and pool very clean, but apart of this I can be say same things for the food. Mouldy tasted pizza, steamed red snapper on the grill, cold served cappuccino warmed at microwave. Guys, you put to many staff but nobody controlling how good the quality of the food. Please... just for the food I stayed one night. Everything is great, but where is the quality?

Go to Koh Rong Samloem Now!!!!

We stayed at SARA Resort for 7 nights, loved it so much we booked an extra 3.
I wish I could have stayed longer to be honest.
All the staff from Retha, shcol (excuse if I spelt it wrong) Billy, Sara, Jody, Steve, Pete and the many other staff at the restaurant, let alone the cleaning crews.
And of course, the bossman Ben were so welcoming to us.
There was talk of work on the island and construction, and yes there is.
But where Sara resort is situated is the perfect distance away from any works going on.
There is a road next to the resort, but it's used rarely by the people manoeuvring stuff from one place to another. And certainly no disturbance to myself or my wife.
We totally love Sara Resort.

Positive points:
Nice resort close to the pier. Good communication with the staff about ferry pickup time. Comfortable bed, hot shower, beach restaurant with a good selection of local & international food. Staff was nice and helpful. We were upgraded to a bungalow at no extra cost, which was a nice surprise.

Negative points:
Power went off for a couple of seconds twice a day - would come back right away but you had to restart the AC everytime.
Pool area was under construction with a lot of noise at breakfast and during the day, not the best if you've come to relax. Beach right in front of the hotel is dirty (plastic garbage and it looks like sewage water is going into the sea not far from there...), better to walk to Lazy beach.
And - but this is not the hotels fault - most of KRS is under construction; some neighboring resorts have eviction notices and are in the process of being dismantled, which is a bit strange and not very pleasant.
The hotel is nice enough but I wouldn't recommend spending time in Samloem right now as things are in flux, it's basically just all a big construction site.

I wanted to love this place, but for the price… sadly we found it disappointing.
We are not high-end travellers with high-end expectations, but, when paying that much for a resort in Cambodia, I’d expect more.
There is no doubt the location is beautiful, but the ongoing construction on the beach bar and pool area was not exactly the peaceful vacation we were looking for. The beach is also incredibly small (with very few lounge chairs considering the amount of rooms) when the tide is up (which is often).
The service, however, was fantastic, as was the breakfast.
We moved to another resort on the same beach and did come back to Sara often for dinner tho. Great food, and probably the best staff on the whole beach. Definitely recommend the restaurant.

Fantastic stay! Great restaurant on site, bbq available in addition to wide menu selection every night. A la carte breakfast included lots to choose from. We had a cabana which wasn’t huge but if you are organized there is plenty of space. Bonus that the pool opened two weeks prior to our arrival, was a nice surprise. Front desk staff super helpful in booking our transportation forward to our next destination. Restaurant staff clearly well trained in customer service. Couldn’t have been happier.

We were in the economy room which is a row of 4 or 5 adjoining rooms. This means you can hear your neighbours quite clearly. The air con, hot shower and safe were all good, the room was a bit tired and smelled a little damp. The bungalows looked to be in a much better location. Not many sunbeds available considering the size of the place Could not fault the staff, they were really friendly and helpful.

Wonderful resort! The room was spacious and clean with nice complimentary toiletries. The restaurant was excellent with a wide variety of dishes. Included breakfast also had great options. The front desk can book any tours directly which is easy and helpful. I can’t say enough about the amazing staff:) every interaction I had was pleasant and professional, I felt like the whole team genuinely cared how my stay was going and if I needed any assistance. The paths to Lazy and Sunset beach are right next to the hotel and easy to navigate. The resort also offered pickup and drop off at the ferry pier with luggage assistance. 10/10 from the moment I arrived to the moment I left.

What an amazing place! the resort gave me a free room upgrade, free drink on the house before leaving, and has the best guide dogs to your island destinations.

The only trouble is that when I got back to my room, I had to kill at least 10 mosquitos laying on my pillow because the sliding door is not properly sealed from the outside. Apply bug spray to the door crevice at night and you should be fine.

Overall, the place is great, food is cheap and high-quality, and the service is wonderful.

The team members were so sweet and kind, but the Operations Manager was a joke. Irresponsible and tonnes of lies. The worst one I’ve seen so far.. He made up the entire story just to get out of trouble and still manage to let us caught him lying with booking policy. It was sad to see someone like this being a leader. Untrustworthy!!!! 😔

But having said that, the restaurant and bar by the beach was so amazing. We’ve really enjoyed the food there ❤️

I stayed in the budget ac room for a night because I got a cheap deal on hotels.com. Sure the restaurant is nice but overpriced and small portions. The hotel was pretty basic for a 4 star resort. Staff were all friendly enough though and the location was alright near the orchid pier. You only get a 10 percent discount if you stay at sarasea resort which I found weird. Also the BBQ is way too expensive it is above western prices! Put It down alittle and people may actually eat it..

This lovely little hotel is perched high on the remarkably beautiful bay and has an inviting beach area. I stayed during the pandemic which took a toll on many of the other businesses around the resort, somewhat limiting dining options and activities. The island is sleepy and marvelous. The front desk team and bartenders were friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff might need a little training - a few times I was frustrated by being seemingly ignored but I found a solution by going to the bar to place my order. That in no way lessens the experience or the loveliness of the resort or their accommodations.

Good location on a nice stretch of beach and near to the pier that the Buvasee ferry serves.
The breakfast was excellent and other food very good and reasonably priced.
The deluxe bedroom was not big and has no air circulation so one is dependent on Aircon. There is a generator, however.
Sitting or lying on the beach in the late afternoon and evening is delightful but in the main part of the day there is no shade.
The staff had good English and were very good.

Our stay at Sara was amazing, a little gem in paradise. The staff are great, so friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The food was very good, whilst a little pricey. We were upgraded to a family room upon arrival (thanks!), which was very roomy with its own balcony. I wouldn’t say the rooms are perfect but that’s part of island living with fewer amenities than you would on the main land. We loved our stay so much we decided to extend too! Oh, and I can’t review without leaving a mention to Jenny the hotel dog - she’s super cute and we’ll miss her!

Very nice resort but too pricey over NY

Sara resort is a relatively good standard for the Island. Hot water, good AC and well built bungalows. Their restaurant is among the better on the beach in my opinion. The staff is very nice and while a bit disorganized (like many rest), service minded. For the price we paid for two nights over new year though, it wasn’t up to what we expected. but prices are very different other parts of the year.

The room was not that clean, the bedsheets were stained, and the bungalow looked rundown even though it cannot be that old. They played electric bass intense music late into the evening, making it really hard to fall asleep. Apart from that it was alright. Location of the hotel is good with good food and a small store near by. They pick you up and drop you off at the pier which is very nice. (Nothing to do with the hotel, but make sure to “check in” your return trip with the speed boat at latest 4pm the day before. Can be done from hotel reception. We tried at 5pm which was too late)

We stayed for only one night and we were super happy with the hotel and service. We wanted to extend our stay but they were fully booked. We actually missed the ferry to the island on the night we had booked the hotel (because of the bus company and the terrible traffic in Sihanoukville) and the hotel accepted to move our reservation to the following night free of charge. The staff was super nice, the room was comfortable, and the location was great on the beach. The only downside was that there was not a lot of room for beach lounging with shade. Cool place otherwise.

The Sara is located on the beach near the ferry piers and lots of restaurants and bars. It has a very welcoming reception area with a restaurant and bar that is popular with all visitors to the island. The rooms are clean, spacious and with light functional furniture. The bed was large and comfortable and the AC and WIFI were good.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. All the meals I had in the restaurant were excellent. I would definitely recommend this Resort.

I had such a wonderful stay I extended for awhile. The breakfast options are the most I’ve ever seen on an ala carte included menu. The concrete bungalows are so comfortable and quiet as my stay started in a week of sunshine the next week had some rainy days. Reading or watching a movie in bed during the rain was relaxing. Food is great. Would be nice to see more vegan options but they do have a good veggie burger. Staff is amazing not just good at their jobs but genuinely nice people. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe always here

One of the best hotels on the island.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a small boat and delivered straight to the hotel. It is very convenient, do not have to carry your luggage in the sand. The boat will also take you back to your departure day.
The rooms in the hotel are comfortable, have everything you need.
On the beach there are some sun beds. The breakfast is great, the selection is great.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall we had a nice stay. We had the family room that overlooks the beach, it was a little run down and kind of loud as it was close to the action, but nice to look out over the beautiful water. We stayed 4 nights and the breakfast that came with the room was fairly limited. It would be great if the breakfast had more choice especially if you are paying a premium to stay in the top room. Overall we had a good experience and would return, but would take two of the garden rooms next time vs. 4 beds in the family room.

BEST RESORT IN KOH RONG SANLOEM!!! I am so happy that I booked this resort and my only regret is that I didn't stay here longer. I had the best 4 nights at this beautiful, centrally located resort (best location on the beach next to all the best beach bars). From the moment I arrived here I was greated by the very friendly staff and greeted with a welcome drink of my choice. My room felt like it was new and it was connected to the beach by this quiet and relaxing walkway. I absolutely loved this resort and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I love this place, however there are many ways to make it even better:
- The Cambodian staff needs more training, especially with taking food orders and remembering them. They need to serve drinks way faster. Also, they need to wait on the dock and hold a sign for when guests arrive.
- There should always be someone standing out front offering menus to tourists passing by.
- Create a bigger wine/liquor list
- The staff should always be checking customers glasses to see if they need to be refilled, and should be checking up on customers more frequently.
- Create incentives for potential customers to come in and drink. (i.e. buy two beers get a free cocktail.)
- Toilet seat in my room was always loose. Staff should check all the rooms and have maintenance fix immediately.
- Food menu needs to be completely changed. Should be smaller and specialize in only a few things.

Nice Little Resort, Friendly Staff

Sara Resort was a great stay - we wish we had stayed longer. Friendly staff, including some Westerners, that genuinely cared that you were having a good experience. It's very close to the Koh Rong Samloem pier you arrive at by ferry, though they still have porters waiting to take you to the resort by boat (easily walkable if you're backpacking though). The resort is right on a beautiful beach with shallow, warm clear water and activities like volleyball, a nice bar, restaurant, comfy beach chairs and hammocks all right in front of it. The rooms were small but comfortable and clean enough. The bathrooms were small enough that you're going to get your toilet wet when showering, but the lid covers the whole thing so not that big a deal. Outside of ordering food, the service and attentiveness of the staff overall was phenomenal. The food was good, though be careful that you are actually understood when ordering, as they managed to mess up something on the order 100% of our meals. Never that big a deal and fixable, but expect mistakes (though guessing that will improve over time). Take bug spray, the mosquitoes on the island can be pretty savage.

Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Staff goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. Upon arrival, they sent a boat to pick up our luggage at the pier so we didn’t have to walk with it in the heat. We were greeted with smiles, a welcome drink and an upgraded room. Beach is beautiful and clean. Water is clear as can be. I definitely recommend this resort!

Stayed here for two nights in the smaller rooms with fan and not aircon. The room was basic but nice enough and clean.
Staff was lovely and the restaurant serves really tasty food. Our reservation did not include breakfast but they included that for free which was really nice of them.
They have searing in the beach for nice drinks and also free sun beds-great!
I would consider booking again if I’d come back.

Service was inconsistent. Restaurant was pretty good but no service on beach which is a few steps away from restaurant. We had to order inside restaurant. Staff did not come by to collect dishes and such afterwards. Some staff appeared to be confused regarding food orders.
Overall though, it was all we needed for a couple nights’ stay. Staff was friendly enough when you needed something and when you asked.

Nice hotel in middle of Saracen Bay. Beautiful beach outside, great for swimming and lounging. Nice restaraunt - good food, cool breezes, friendly atmosphere.

Room was clean, quiet, very good aircon. Comparable size to elsewhere on island (smaller than city but comfortable for 2).

Great location. Short walk to bars, restaraunts, pharmacy, minimart etc and to start of paths to Lazy beach and sunset beach.

Helpful staff - booked massages, arranged pickup from and dropoff to main pier and helped confirm our ferry for departure.

Quality hotel, skip the restaurant

Best hotel on Saracen Bay. New modern rooms. Quiet, clean, comfortable. Staff is attentive. The manager Dusty was very welcoming and tackles issues with ease. The restaurant is hit and miss. More expensive than nearby establishments and service is slow, apathetic, and prone to mistakes.

Resort is new and the hotel staff is amazing. Excellent WiFi, great location. My only complaint is the restaurant. Below average food at western prices and poor service. It’s fine for lunch and there are many other choices along the beach. Overall, I still recommend this hotel.

Potential to be excellent

We really enjoyed our stay on the island. Sara Resort is excellently located in Saracen Bay and the beach is beautiful. We were upgraded on arrival and allowed to check in a few hours early as we had got the early ferry from Sihanoukville. We were also helped getting a boat out to our ferry when leaving and arranging the correct ferry time. The resort is very well presented and the rooms are modern and have everything you need - eco-friendly toiletries, air con, safe etc. The bed was a little hard for us but we have found that a lot in SE Asia. Our stay was not without some issues, however they were always quickly resolved when we raised it with the front desk. We immediately had to move rooms as there was a leak in the roof, this was addressed very quickly and staff were very apologetic. Our room was not cleaned for two days despite leaving the sign out. We asked about this after the second day and the staff then arranged for the room to be immediately cleaned. The same day we had no water at all in our room. Again this was sorted straight away. The main food was really good, if slightly expensive for Cambodia, but we expected this due to the location. The restaurant was always very busy with residents and non residents so there was a wait for food but we didn’t mind as the view from the restaurant was lovely. The Khmer staff in the restaurant were really friendly and Jenny the resident dog was also a real highlight of the trip!

I didn't want to leave

Sara resort was amazing. They had a boat pick us up from the pier, and we were one of the lucky few that didn't have to walk up the beach with our luggage. The check in was easy, and they accommodated us by adding an extra night to our booking when we checked in. Our room was clean and very comfortable. I didn't want to leave. It is so relaxing there and all the staff is great. The only thing I would say is the food took a bit long to come in the restaurant and we did have to wait sometimes before our order was even taken, but the restaurant does get pretty busy, and with a view like theirs it wasn't really anything to stress about at all. I loved everything about it!!

Relaxing stay

A lovely place to stay - comfortable relaxed-and right on the beach. Staff are polite and helpful. The environment and surroundings are beautiful and it is clear that that the hotel owners respect and care about the environment.
