Our stay at The Nuovo Albergo was great... the room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable, clean crisp sheets, comfortable beds, and a nice bathroom. The staff was fantastic and helpful, (especially Laura, thank you for all), and the complimentary breakfast is fresh and varied. The hotel is perfectly located in the old city for walking and visiting. The street entrance however, does not do it justice as it is quite dark and could use some improvement.

This hotel was basic but our room had a private bathroom and Air conditioning. 6 stairs to the elevator so not completely accessible however they did have a wheelchair lift. Area around the hotel was safe feeling and close to shopping and restaurants. Great stopover hotel before or after a cruise.

When walking in the front door the condition of the entrance looked like it was derelict, dirty and the wooden banister had chunks out. We had to book a breakfast time as the room was so small. You had to turn sideways to get into the bathroom and sink did not hold water. The only plus was it was clean and we were only there for 15 hours. Location was good.

Perfect for transiting

Perfect for us transiting over night. 10 min to the Grande Canal one way and 10 min to the train station the other. It was about a 17 minute walk from the cruise ship and really easy to find. Nice room with really great noise-cancelling windows to the street noise. Room was really nice and the breakfast was A M A Z I NG!!

This is a very nice hotel!! The staff were warm and welcoming, everything was new, clean, and had great attention to detail. The breakfast was also very good, and they were very warm and friendly to my dog. The location was also perfect distance to city highlights and to the train station. I would stay here again and again. For the price, it really can't be beat. i was incredibly impressed.

Central location and quiet. Great value

Great value and very central albergo in Trieste. All very clean and comfortable with good check-in staff. Breakfast was fresh with nice coffee. Even though it is so central (one block from Grande Canale) it is quiet and well soundproofed.

The single beds were on opposite sides of the room so were unable to be next to each other, also when sitting up in bed the headboard/shelf fell towards the wall as it was not secured. There was no left-luggage area but we were allowed to leave our cases under a table in the reception area. The reception staff were very good and managed to quieten our rather excitable (loud laughter at midnight) neighbours. We enjoyed our two night stay.

Nuevo Albergo Centro is described as a basic hotel. And it is. The hotel is a good value and located in a newer (i.e., 19th Century) part of Trieste, two and a half blocks from the Grand Canal, close to the commercial area and with good restaurants in the neighborhood.

The Nuevo Albergo Centro occupies one and a half floors of a five-story building; what Americans would call floors two and three. The hotel section is relatively new, and the building is probably two hundred years old and shows it. The elevator is up a half flight of stairs and apparently doesn’t have the safety feature for the door to stop closing and retract when blocked by something like a suitcase, or a person, or a person’s arm.

I think the hotel is a tenant, thus they do not seem to have the responsibility for ensuring that the outside door closes and locks, and the entrance movement light goes on when it should.

The staff is friendly and their English ranges from serviceable to good. They would benefit from more concierge-like knowledge of the area. The best meal we had on our vacation was around the corner from the hotel at Buracca e Burattini.

The bed was comfortable and the room, although sparsely furnished, was large and clean. (Note in contrast to an online comment on the hotel: they do provide clean towels daily.) There is plenty of variety at breakfast.

I thought it was really underpriced, to be honest. I stayed in a room with a private bathroom, and even though the bathroom was a tiny bit dated, it was a really nice hotel room! Polite staff, clean and a huge, comfy bed. Was really impressed.

Charming hotel close to everything

Pleasant hotel in attractive older Triestine building, with excellent value. Good breakfast, spacious rooms, simple check-in, extremely convenient to the center and the old town. The rooms with shared bathrooms were no problem at all, there were several bathrooms equipped with shower so I never had to wait or walk any distance to use the bathroom. Housekeeping was very discreet and left the room in good order. It has the feel a bit of staying in a pensione (like an expat traveling through Italy in a Henry James novella, say) but without the inconveniences (the floor on which the hotel is is very modern and clean).

By the sea

Trieste is a beautiful town by the sea that our three generation group enjoyed a lot. Our grandchildren age 7 & 9 loved the train museum, the merry-go-round and the big plazas by the sea. The old area was beautiful and fun to explore. The food was excellent whoever we dined in nice outdoor settings.

Hotel is located in the downtown area of Trieste, a great location for exploring the city
It is am older style hotel with shared bathrooms. Wet did not have any problem getting in when we wanted to use them. Main drawback is the street noise bit it quieted down around 9 pm. They had a surprisingly good breakfast.

My cruising.com review: average 2-3 star hotel in a good location, however the hotel is hard to find, no issue with the room, but the hotel is located in a noisy area of town and the walls are very thin so you can hear talking from rooms next door. In addition, this hotel is older and has very high walls so noise echos, decent breakfast buffet.

Nice hotel close to train station and old town

This hotel is on the 2nd floor of a building on a main street (Via Roma) within 5 minutes of the main train station, the docks, and old town. Excellent for restaurants and sightseeing. Parking is close to impossible in Italian cities but if you don't have to worry about a car, this is where you want to be. The staff was very accommodating and helpful with tips on where to go, etc. Breakfast was included and typical Italian continental: tasty meat/cheese but a bit limited in other items. Although the room was a bit small, the bed was great, the pillows OK, and the internet/TV worked very well. The lobby lights do not turn on automatically so at night, it gets dark and the elevator is tiny. Our room came with its own small bathroom but some other rooms share bathrooms so make sure you specify what you want before you pay.

A peasant surprise.

I had never been to Trieste before, and was a bit nervous about what hotels might be like, but the Nuovo Albergo Centro saw me right and helped to make my stay a very pleasant experience. .A real feeling of home a way from home, and a lovely place to come back to at the end of an enjoyable day of sightseeing.

I did not realize when i booked the room that the toilet and shower were down the hall, which was an inconvenience, but very doable. I'm just used to them in the room.
The dark entrance was deceiving too. I didn't know if they were open or around; then enter into a dark foyer entrance.....I needed my smartphone flashlight to find my way up the stairs. Other than that, it was clean with a good breakfast.

Hotel Nuovo Albergo Centro, Trieste

We had difficulty in finding the hotel as the entrance is just a somewhat scruffy door in a commercial building. That leads to a somewhat scruffy vestibule with a lift to the first floor. The entrance to the hotel is through another door. Up to this stage we thought, whatever have we come into. There is no palatial reception just a very friendly member of staff behind a counter. From here on, everything changed. The hotel is spotlessly clean, as are the rooms. The room we had was basic but very adequate, very comfortable beds and the shower was the best I have ever experienced. Scalding hot water if you wanted it that hot and the power of the shower was such that there was a danger that you would be washed down the plug hole. Although above a main road our room was very quiet. The breakfast, included in the price, was excellent. It is a centre city hotel just a few minutes from the canal along the length of which is restaurants and bars. The sea front is only a ten minute walk, at the most. We considered this hotel was excellent value for money and the next time we visit Trieste, we have family there, we will stay there again.

Super Convenient - well maintained - clean

Ideal location for us to visit our relatives. Flew into Trieste airport,shuttle bus to Trieste rail station (4euros), then short walk to hotel. Lots of shops close by and sea front a short walk away. Buses frequent with reasonable fares.

We stayed there for one night and it was pleasant overall and satisfying. There is nothing fancy about this hotel, it is very basic. The location is great, ten min. walk from the train station, it has wifi, and the staff is friendly. The shared bathroom is not great but for one night and the price, it is worth it.

Great location, small room

The location was excellent, very close to the main train and bus stations and also close to the city centre. The room was tiny, which I don't mind in and of itself, but it was so hot it sometimes felt like being stuck in a box. It is also on quite a busy street, which was problematic because I had to sleep with the window open (no air con). Having said that, it was reasonable for the price, very clean and would probably be quite pleasant in cooler weather.

This hotel is a short walk from train station. We found it by asking passersby for directions, but it would have been better had we Googled the directions ahead of time. When you come to the front of the building, it doesn't look to nice, and the lobby is very dark and somewhat smelly. However, the hotel itself is up the first flight of stairs and its light and bright. Room was large and comfortable. Two restrooms were shared, but we never had to wait to use them. They were quite large, too. Breakfast buffet was very good and well worth the money. The ladies taking care of the breakfast room did a great job of cleaning and restocking everything. Food tasted really fresh and coffee was very good.

Don't expect a good night's sleep due to the paper thin walls. Make sure you don't end up in a room with a connecting door - you can hear EVERYTHING - and I mean everything!! Try looking elsewhere.

The Centro is a bit on the pricey side for what you get--a shared bathroom, spartan rooms with harsh light and somewhat used bedding, and a broken internet connection--but generally it's fine. That staff was helpful, the place was relatively clean, and it's located within easy walking distance of most places in Trieste.
