This was our second stay, our first was 3 years ago and we really enjoyed it. This time it lived up to everything we remembered. The room was generously sized, with a nice balcony. The parking is just opposite the hotel on the road in marked bays.

The restaurant serves incredible quality foods, with great emphasis on local ingredients in most dishes. The first page of the menu lists where all the key ingredients are from. They even have an excellent selection of local drinks, including beers and wines. We enjoyed the wild garlic soup, local steak, and wild garlic pesto pasta, with a local Hefe Weisse and local Pinot Noir.

On our latest stay we utilised the sauna and were very pleased with the quality of the sauna and relaxation facilities, there is a lot of attention to detail which makes the space very nice to use after a long day of hiking!

We love it here, and we will return on a future road trip!

The hotel is cozy and very pet friendly. The decor feels like a old German home. Bed was comfy and room was clean. My favorite part of the hotel was the restaurant downstairs. I have a pork and noodles which was AMAZING! My dog was even able to hang in the restaurant. Morning breakfast was very good.

Very pleasant and relaxing

I stayed there for 2 nights. The room was very comfortable with a wonderful view to the countryside. The wifi was very smooth and fast and the breakfast was very good. There was an ample parking just in front of the hotel. The staff is very friendly. I would love to visit the place again.

Staff was very helpful answering our questions. The breakfast is excellent and for a great price. The rooms were clean and modern. Close to many hiking trails, but isolated, which is good for escaping from big cities. Restaurant had great food and drinks for normal prices.

This is a fantastic place to spend a few nights. The hotel is lovely, clean and wewll-decorated. I had a beautiful and very spacious room to myself. I ate in the hotel restaurant both nights and the meals were wonderful. The staff are all so welcoming and friendly. I would love to stay here again.

We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Hirschen-Dorfmuhle and used it as a base to explore the Black Forest. As such, it was just what we were looking for. The room was fine with a comfortable bed and a bathroom with all the amenities that we needed. There was a small balcony attached to the room but it was too late in the season to use it and also it is currently overlooking a building site!.

We ate in the restaurant on two nights and the food was excellent. The restaurant was always busy which is a good sign.

A superb place to stay. Nothing too much trouble, lots of tourist info provided, including free train tickets. Good ambience as local people use this place, too, to eat and socialise. Especially helpful proprietress. A thoroughly enjoyable stay in delightful surroundings.

Excellent experience. Felt extremely welcome. Family run hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Food and service first class. Location excellent if you want to have a quiet relaxing holiday. Walks signposted and distances to suit everybody. Would definitely stop in this hotel when in the area.

Quick Overnight Getaway

Just a quick overnight stay so that we didn't have to drive home that night. There was a restaurant, but we had already eaten. Once we saw the food though, we were bummed we weren't hungry! The breakfast the next morning was great too. Service was quick and the room was very clean. I would definitely recommend!

Very quaint family run hotel in a small Black Forest village. The staff were very friendly and helpful and could speak some English. There's a restaurant in house for you convenience and they serve some nice local beers. We just stayed one night on our way back to berlin but it was very comfortable. Rooms were a decent size and parking was free. We had a problem with the Internet but the owner gave us his personal login. Besides that the only thing for improvement would be to get better towels and update the furniture in the room. Overall a nice experience

Like staying in a postcard

This lovely picturesque little boutique hotel is situated in a tiny but beautiful village in the Black Forest. We traveled to Triberg which is about 20 miles away and wanted to drive through the Black Forest so we chose the Hirschen-Dorfmuhle after reading the reviews on Hotels.com. The hotel is not fancy but the rooms are quaint, clean and comfortable. The restaurant which is lovely is sort of the town gathering spot and we were the only Americans there. The food is delicious, as was the beer and wine. Everyone was very friendly but their English was as limited as our German, but it worked!

Wonderful little guesthouse

We enjoyed our stay. The lady that runs the guesthouse is extremely nice. Doesn't speak perfect English but I never expect that and she definitely spoke enough. She was helpful giving us information about things to do and even a ticket to get discounts at most attractions. She was also very accommodating for the dinner menu to make something vegetarian for me. We stayed two nights and spent a whole day in Triberg which was about 40 minutes away. Would definitely stay there again.

We wanted to find a small hotel in the heart of the Black Forest with a good restaurant, near to, but not in, a town. We wanted a small hotel so that there could be no bus parties of any description.

We found it, but better than that, this is an absolute gem!

Beautiful hotel

One of the best experiences I've had at a hotel. It felt unbelievably warm and welcoming. The owners were very attentive and cared about your stay. The food was exceptionally good and was prepared by one of the owners. We ate at the hotel restaurant every night and always had splendid meals. The price of the hotel cannot be beat for the experience. The rooms are nice and spacious especially compared to hotels in big cities. It's a nice isolated location and best to arrive by car but it is in the black forest so there are plenty of hiking trails but the train station is easily accessible. Really lovely hotel and experience.

We got exactly what were looking for at this hotel. It is a nice German inn that is used mostly by Germans and we had a good feel for the local atmosphere. English can be understood and is not a problem. The room was very clean and the balcony was very enjoyable. We were treated to views of local sheep and cows. The meals at the restaurant are very good and the breakfast is typical German fare. This hotel is off the beaten path, but well worth the visit. One note, the hotel does not have a elevator/lift.

Der Gasthof Hirschen-Dorfmühle verdient ***** in jeglicher Hinsicht.

Eine tolle Saunalandschaft macht die Übernachtung zu einem ganz besonderen Erlebnis. Wellness und Tiefenentspannung ist garantiert.

Gute Schwarzwaldluft, ein kleines Bächle, kostenlose Parkplätze direkt vor der Tür, sehr große und schöne Zimmer..... und besonders: Wirtsleute, die einem jeden Wunsch von dem Lippen ablesen,..... besser geht es wirklich nicht.

Ich kann diese Unterkunft jedem Geschäftsreisen, aber auch Urlauber sehr empfehlen.

Mooi hotel, prachtig rustig gelegen, ongeveer halverwege het zwarte woud, waardoor het een mooie uitvalbasis is.
Zeer vriendelijke mensen. Uitstekend ontbijtbuffet en diner was uitstekend, zeer goeie kok.
Kamer (en gehele hotel) was heel schoon en goeie bedden. Al met al een uitstekend hotel.
Het enige minpuntje vonden wij (niet rokers); in de beschrijving staat dat het een rookvrije accommodatie is, maar er mag op de balkons en terras gerookt worden. Dit ruik je als je op je balkon zit, welke boven het terras is gelegen. Maar dat nemen we voor lief, omdat de rest meer dan uitsteken is.
Wij hebben hier 9 dagen genoten!

Ein gelungener Kurzurlaub.

Freundlichkeit ist das oberste Gebot der Besitzer.
Sehr große Zimmer , sehr sauber und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Frühstücksbüffet sehr lecker, aber auch das Essen war nicht zuverachten.
Abends konnte man im Biergarten sitzen und den Tag ausklingen lassen. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen.

Nettes Hotel in Ferienregion. Zimmer in Ordnung. Hygienisch, da kein Teppichboden. Frühstück ist hervorragend mit persönlicher Betreuung (Eierspeisen werden auf Bestellung frisch gemacht). Wer möchte, hat die Gelegenheit, am Abend sehr gut zu essen.

Gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Großes Zimmer mit 70./80. Charme. Etwas hellhörig, trotzdem gut geschlafen. Restaurationsbetrieb dörflich, aber das Abendessen war ausgezeichnet. Frühstück war reichlich und leckere Brötchen und guter Kaffee. Parkplätze ausreichend vorhanden. Waren auf der Durchreise und haben nur 1 Nacht dort verbracht, gerne wieder.

Wir hatten fünf Nächte gebucht, und wir würden gern fünf von fünf möglichen Sternen vergeben... wären da nich die ganz kleinen Unzulänglichkeiten, von denen es leider zu viele gab. Zuerst aber das Positive: Es ist eine nette kleine Pension (manchmal lasen wir auch Hotel), in einem reizvollen ruhigen Winkel mitten im Schwarzwald. Das Personal ist freundlich und um eine familiäre Atmosphäre bemüht; zumindest jene Mitarbeiter, die in der unmittelbaren Gastrobranche arbeiten. Die Küche ist super, das sieht man nicht zuletzt daran, dass zu den Mittags- und Abendzeitung immer alles gerammelt voll war. Viele Gäste kamen mit Freiburger Kennzeichrn (20km). Die Kehrseite der Medaille (und das hat mit dem offenar zu engen Personalkorsett zu tun): Das Restaurant- und Küchenpersonal stößt offenbar an seine Grenzen. Extrem lange Wartezeiten, selbst auf einen einfachen Salat, sind nur eines der sichtbaren Zeichen dessen.
Die Einrichtung als solche ist offenbar erst unlängst renoviert. Unser Zimmer war groß, hell, freundlich, mit Balkon. Das Bett erschien uns zunächst klein und hart, wir haben aber gut geschlafen. Die Sauberkeit war gut.
Was also waren die vielen kleinen Unzulänglichkeiten? Vorneweg: Jedes Einzelne wäre nicht der Rede wert, doch die Summe... Am ersten Abend bekamen wir den Fernseher nicht an, weil die Batterien der Fernbedienungen leer waren. An einem anderen Morgen war die Duschseife leer.
