The room is SMALL. The bathroom had zero ventilation. Every time I took a shower, there was water all over the bathroom floor. I was shocked at the accommodations. Shocked!
The positive side to this hotel is the steakhouse that’s attached. The food there is delicious.

Decent hotel but although they say there is parking, it's actually the train station car park, and quite a trek with your luggage. It was a struggle to find the entrance to the car park, especially if you've never visited before, and when you're not advised in advance of where the parking is. We parked for about 15 hours (overnight), and according to the information in the room, parking would only cost €15 for the duration of our stay. The reception duly stamped our parking ticket to ensure this was the case. When we left the hotel, we discovered that it was costing us €30!! Adding this to the price of the hotel makes it an expensive hotel for what you get. There was a fair sized hole in the middle of the duvet cover and what appeared to be a coin sized blood stain on the net curtains. I personally would not stay there again.

I have no words to explain about my stay at wartmann. It was one of the best experiences. Easily accessible for anyone who is coming for first time, don’t make a mistake to take taxi. Train station is infront of it and easily accessible.

Stay elsewhere this place is like a hostel

First of all the reception was not open when I arrived so the access into the hotel is like air bnb, you get the card to swipe from the locker box close to the entrance door. The rooms are furnished budget style, stains on furniture everywhere. This hotel is run down in many aspects. The breakfast served can not be called breakfast to a 4 star hotel standard. Staff at the restaurant was unfriendly, they would pick the cutlery and crockery in front of you without any excuse if you actually finished your meal. The hotel will charge CHF 50 for 1 hour if you need a late check out. I wish i never stayed this place. It's right across the railway station and didn't feel safe arriving late at night. The pillows were horrible, like two bags filled with mattress foam. The storage room is unsafe as the door of the storage room is open and guests freely leave and take the luggage as they please. It's not monitored who's bag belongs to who so anyone can take what they like.

A decent sized room, airy. Nice comfortable beds.
The room had a tea kettle ( no coffee machine ).

Breakfast was good but surprisingly there was no toaster in the breakfast room.

Also only scrambled eggs and boiled eggs were provided. Our request for fried eggs was turned down.

The hotel is situated only 20 minutes away by train from central Zurich and is located at a very convenient place - right opposite the Winterthur station. There are 30 minutes direct trains to the famous Rhine falls.

There are 2 convenient stores nearby which is helpful. And some good restaurants too.

Do not recommend staying here

I don’t recommend this hotel if you will be checking in outside their reception hours. They did not provide the instructions until I asked for it, which was only a few hours before I arrived. The instructions were hard to follow — there were 2 ash trays at both sides of the entrance, the “key box” was not too obvious to recognise and it was placed high up with the numbers similar to a luggage/suitcase lock. As there was no staff during the late hours, you run the risk of not being able to get in. I was so close to giving up after ringing the door for probably 30 minutes and I was already looking for another hotel before a staff finally came in.
Room was okay with adjustable lighting (would have been okay if you need a budget hotel for a work trip). Amenities were not as described as there was no kettle or fridge. The bed mattress was poor and the pillows lumpy. Bathroom was okay, but I was glad I brought my own slippers (some sections showed either poor condition or that they were not thoroughly cleaned). The saving grace was the breakfast and the nice lady at reception when I checked out.

We used the hotel as a base to explore Zurich from. The hotel is 30 minutes from Zurich & it will cost you chf26 per person per day to travel in & out of Zurich each day. So please take this cost into account when comparing hotel. If you buy the return ticket, then all your public transport costs in Zurich will b covered for that day, including the lake & river ferry trips. The hotel itself is clean modern & comfortable, the only thing I didn't like was the bathroom, it was in need of an update. Bed was good, pillows very soft, bathroom had bathtub and overhead shower, water pressure good. Staff were helpful and room had good airconditioning. The breakfasts was excellent, with hot & cold choices, only thing missing was a toaster.
All in all a good stay.

Location is as good as it gets. Across the street from SBB trains, which will take you anywhere in the country in a few hours or less. Nearby, a lot of excellent shopping and dining options. Fitness Park is a five minute walk. The hotel is well run, but not staffed at the front desk in the evenings, which can sometimes be annoying.

I booked this for a business colleague. She was happy with the accomodation.
Later I booked here again directly with the hotel for Family members with mobility constraints. While they assured me the room was accessible, it was only accessible from the ground floor to the room, the room itself was not all that accessible, the bathtub is very high and difficult to get in and out of for those with mobility issues. If you book here and need an accessible room call the front desk directly well in advance and state that you need a room with a walk in shower. They do not have many of these rooms and were unable to accommodate this need.

Most stay when they are in transit as this is steps from the train, but I stayed 10 days for business and loved it ! Nice breakfast, front desk (Nastasha specifically) very kind, everyone so friendly !!! Triple room is great for 2 for a longer stay or 3 for a shorter stay. Argentina Steakhouse connected and delicious (but $$$).

Our power in the room went out and we called the number provided on the sheet in the room only to hear we dialed the wrong number ,than we called the hotel number ,got the same lady who said she will help - I told her I recognize her voice. She never came instead I had to locate a key to power fuses myself,she said to look in breakfast fast place below coffee machine!
I was able with help from my neighbor to turn on power! The hotel was not prepared for such a situation at all! Nobody on desk at night! Absolutely unacceptable on their part! The lady told me after I said this to her ,but you have power back….1,5 hrs later ! The management there needs to resolve problems faster! And better ..clearly the lady on the phone was not even anywhere near by..and constantly had to check back with management herself…

the hotel was very convenient as it was next door to the train station. Very impressed how quiet it was and our room was directly across. The downside to this hotel is that the hotel is closed down during the evening. After a 6 hour train ride from our previous city, when we arrived around 7pm, the front door was locked. There was a note on the door telling us we had to call a certain number to contact someone. We were travelling with a cell phone but did not have data package in order to call. It was never stated on the expedia information that it was a self check in. We were lucky that a guest came by and let us in. Our room key was on the desk so we could get into our room. Once in our room, the TV did not work but no one at the desk but there was a hone that you could call. My husband called and it was picked up by a hotel in Zurich. What in the hell were they going to do???? Later that nights, we had our window open and heard someone else trying to get in with the doorbell. My husband had to go down and let them in as well. The next morning we went to the front desk at 9am when someone was there and was told manager would be in later in the day to talk to us. Well, after 2 days we never saw the manager. He was nowhere to be found. The front desk agent told us the check in requirements had changed due to covid...but then again , no where does expedia advise of these check in requirements.

Great location

Ideal downtown location, both on foot, as well as for any public transportation needs. I was very pleasantly surprised how quiet the hotel was, given its approximate to the train station. My room was facing the tracks, and yet, I heard essentially nothing. One light rail train runs right outside, but it starts and stops very quietly. The trains themselves run underground in that section, so there is no noise from there. The occasional slammed door, was all you could hear.

I was really impressed by the quality of this place for the price. Honestly one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Very clean, cozy room with a nice atmosphere. And the breakfast! So many delicious things to eat, not enough room in my stomach. All this in a stellar location right next to the train station, perfect for weary travelers arriving late at night. 10/10, would stay here again.

We stayed here on our way from the West to the North of Switzerland and were delighted we made the stop in Winterthur. The hotel is extremely conveniently located next to the station but is well insulated so you don't hear the trains. Parking is in the station building across the road for 15 CHF a night, which was convenient and not a bad deal for Switzerland. While there is a good restaurant at the hotel, I recommend that you walk under the train tracks and into the old town. It takes less than 5 minutes. There you will find a fabulous selection of restaurants and bars and vibrant nightlife. Our room for three was incredibly spacious, clean and quiet. Breakfast too was excellent with freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, and an array of cold meats, cheeses and fresh fruit. Would I stay here again? Yes, without hesitation.

Very happy with the Best Western. It is next to the train station (do not go out the main entrance but go under the tracks to the opposite side), making it a 5 minute walk to the old town. While not a plush 5-star hotel, nor trying to be, they do all the little things well. Front desk is friendly and efficient (quick check in). I asked for a late check out, they let us check out at 1:30 without an extra cost. Clean and bright rooms. Internet worked well. Air conditioning was great (though no air conditioning in the lobby). Overall, very efficient stay.

I missed my former employees—-which brought into the hotel a very personal touch.
there is an issue with the night-shifter !
he is not trained and disappears for a long time from the desk ,
after midnight -1am !!!
we can feel the personal touch of the hotel is gone, which was run by a family, —-!!!
(after change of ownership)
it is now a hotel like any other.... -too bad !

We recently stayed at this hotel for 6 nights on vacation. Although not in central Zurich, it was easily accessible (about 20 minutes) by train. In fact, we used the trains as our mode of transportation mostly and this hotel is just across the street in perfect location. There are many restaurants and shopping nearby within 3 to 5 minutes walk, as well as a small local grocery next door.

The daily breakfast was included and they were excellent - various types of breads pastries, eggs, sausage, bacon, diff types of yogurt, fruits, and much more. Water, punch, coffee, tea were also available all day in the front lobby.

Staff - excellent! Very helpful and friendly from start to finish. Every time we needed something (directions, recommendations, etc.), they were always pleasant to deal with.

Most importantly, the hotel rooms and general area were impeccably clean. The showers and water pressure were excellent. Our room was spacious and was above our expectations. They even provided slippers for use in the room. Our room was across the street directly to the trains but when the windows were closed, we didn't hear anything. We slept well every night.

Excellent stay overall and highly recommended.
