Beautiful Chateaux. Rooms and updated with beautiful decoration. We had a Junior Suite, which was quite large and had many windows. Very pleasant. The only down-side was the shower arrangement. No enclosed shower area, only a Tub on top of which the spray shower can be attached. As a result all of the water ended up on the floor! Also the faucets could use an update, as they sprayed in a jet like fashion causing the water to splash all over. There was no A/C, but fortunately during our stay in late July, the temperature was very pleasant, and there was no need for A/C. Bed was a little hard and uneven. (could use an update). Convenient free parking on the grounds available. Surrounding pastural areas and views were lovely. Breakfast was high quality and very good.

The hotel and its surroundings are very beautiful. Great customer service. The main building is stunning. We stayed in an annex which wasn’t as nice and the carpet was stained, nevertheless the room was very comfortable and large. Bed is very comfortable. They offer a bottle of water and tea in the bedroom which is a nice touch. Bathroom was nice too with L’ Occitane toiletries. Unfortunately we left early and didn’t have the opportunity to have breakfast which was included.
We recommend this hotel and are looking forward to come back again.

We really enjoyed our 3-night-stay at this property. The room was confortable, the pool area was relaxing and the food in both restaurants was very good. The breakfast was also delicious. The only small minus point I would give is around the staff as you could tell that some of the members weren't really trained properly or weren't from the hospitality world (especially in the Cantine restaurant). Overall a very good and relaxing experience!

The hotel is far enough away from the city to allow for peace and relaxation but close enough to benefit from all the area has to offer.

The rooms are spacious and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Our room had a bathtub, although I would have preferred a shower.

Great breakfast with outdoor seating available. The restaurant was already fully booked one week prior to our stay so we had to make other arrangements for dinner, but not a huge deal.

Very Relaxing Place to sStay.

We have stayed twice at Le Chateau De Candie whilst driving through France. It is in a quiet rural location, very peaceful and relaxing and the staff are very helpful. They are pet friendly, and there were a lot of dogs staying but there is enough space for them all to be reasonably well behaved. There is an outdoor swimming pool and dining area which is really convenient after a long drive.

Our second stay here. There are rooms in the chateau and also in a modernish extension. Dinner was fantastic - not cheap but excellent value. Very helpful sommelier who did not try to upsell. The grounds are delightful. In future we will always ask for a chateau room as the “suite” in the extension was just a large room.

Hugely recommend, great place to relax but equally close to areas to discover.
For starters the grounds are absolutely stunning with the town and the lake only a short taxi ride away.
The rooms were decorated tastefully with elegance and the French feel.
Staff were warm and helpful and really wanted you to enjoy your stay carefree. There are 2 restaurants, one la carte- outstanding food and one more relaxed however equally good food and wine.
Everyday the room was cleaned with fresh towel, free of charge bottle of water, biscuit and a posh coffee machine and pods. Through out the day you can go to the library area and help yourself to tea, coffee, water and cake.
Breakfast is of high quality and throughly enjoyed.
We definitely want to come back here again. :)

French Chateau Dream

My husband and I and our two teenage daughters thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chateau de Candie! The rooms were very charming and it was thoughtful to have our two rooms together with a connecting door. Our two teenage daughters felt like they were living in a French chateau. They enjoyed swimming in the pool. We thought the breakfast was very nice and wished we had another night to enjoy all the beauty of the property. It was helpful to have an extra hour for checkout as well.

What an amazing Chatéau. We were brought to our room and the staff heard we were on our honeymoon they upgraded us to an available suite. Very clean and nice. Breakfast awesome with quality. If you choose to have dinner on site be prepared for an experience.

A lovely hotel.

We loved staying at Le Chateau de Candie. The property is gorgeous and our room was extremely comfortable. We had a delicious meal at Le Canteen, the bistro at the property and we were very pleased we had booked a night here. We were flying from Geneva airport the following day and Le Chateau de Candie is only a couple of hours away.

In comparison to other similar hotels we stayed in during our European travels, the lack of air conditioning was difficult during a hot spell in August. In addition, the wifi was terribly slow. Finally, we were told that the staff could help with some laundry by one front desk gentleman but then the next morning the woman at the desk indicated that it was up to the housemaids and they said 'no' ... so we had no clean clothes!

Warm welcome. The room 125 was upfront great but:
- air conditioning in the middle of the bed room?
- water leak from the bathroom tube ending in the bedroom ground trough the wall in wood in between?
- restaurant full
- recommendation of outside restaurant ( former chief of Candee). honestly, it was very , very average....
- Breakfast just fair. Nobody there when we came in. Full 'help yourself' service and if you want anything don't even ask.
- Asked for aspirine ( my wife sick) - Response: No- we can't have médecine...

In general terms, the guys don't try to solve the customer problem but prefer to avoid to be accountable for it.

Disappointing. We have been there few years ago and had a far more positive experience!

Beautiful property

A beautiful property tucked into woods for quiet peace. Staff was very helpful. The main restaurant, L'Orangerie, was closed early in the week but we had an excellent salmon dinner in the less formal dining room. Our room wasn't ready because we arrived early, but we were quickly shown to a spacious alternative that had a huge bath and even a tiny kitchen. Would highly recommend.

comfortable and peaceful hotel

The chateau is lovely with plenty of old world charm together with smart luxury. Very comfortable bed, quiet room. fabulous bath and a lovely pool. The hotel really is in a small world of its own, especially when you arrive via an industrial estate, but there is lovely countryside around it, together with their own vineyards to create a feeling of peace and tranquility. The gourmet meal was absolutely delicious, and we can recommend the chateau's viognier wine. Very helpful staff managed to cope with my limited French very graciously, although several spoke excellent English. For us this was a wonderful stopover on our way north, and we can certainly recommend it.

For the price I paid it was not particularly good. I have to agree with the other posts with regard to classification, this in my view is not a 4 star hotel. We arrived late Sunday pm and had trouble locating anyone on reception, we were not advised until over an hour after arrival the restaurant was closed on Sunday which meant we had to make alternative arrangements at short notice and there were no staff apart from a trainee student who was not from the area so unable to give any advice. I would not stay there again.

Wonderful regional setting for a beautiful hotel

The hotel is beautiful as are the grounds. The pool was refreshing and fun. I strongly suggest getting breakfast included. It's 22 euro each and we didn't know it was that pricey beforehand. The breakfast was good but not worth that much extra. The neighboring towns are all pretty too. We had dinner on a local lake and it was great.

Superb meal, lovely surroundings but....

We booked ourselves in mainly for the restaurant and we did have a superb meal! Service and food were outstanding. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We did arrive via an industrial estate on the outskirts of Chambery and did have a panic when sat nav was telling us we were less than a mile away. However it very quickly becomes rural and the setting is lovely when you are in the grounds. Our big complaint is that this is a 4 star hotel, however there is no food made available on a Sunday night when the restaurant is closed. We were recommended by the hotel a brasserie which was very mediocre and pricey for what we had, and the round trip in a taxi cost us forty euros. There is no taxi rank in town, luckily the taxi driver had given us the taxi company number and I speak French. I had to call twice to get a taxi to come and pick us up. It all became rather difficult and a pretty disappointing evening. We do feel that a hotel at such a level and in such a remote location, should be able to provide a meal to hotel guests every evening.

A magical visit to the mountains above Chambery

This well-maintained chateau above the town of Chambery is set in pretty grounds with a little winding road leading you up to the main building past an attractive outdoor swimming pool. Regrettably, the weather was against us with incessant rain and mist which limited the spectacular views across the valley. Our room was pleasantly furnished with ample room for your clothes. There is no A/C, but a fan was there in the bedroom for the (probable) warm evenings. Our best was quite comfortable, and the bathroom was adequately furnished with a bath and shower in the bath. Although wifi was included, there was no internet access available during our stay. We ate a delicious meal in the extremely attractive dining room. Service and presentation were faultless although somewhat pretentious. Breakfast was a buffet affair with all your desires catered for. Did I mention the flies? They are of a breed, that despite bringing our own can of \"Raid\" and an \"Excecutioner\" (tennis-racquet electric device), they resisted all our efforts of despatch! Irritating.

This is a beautiful hotel with real character.

We arrived on a Monday and the restaurant was closed. The hotel had let us know this in advance so we ate out. Beware the taxis are very expensive. On arrival the receptionist was incredibly helpful and showed us round the hotel personally, the best welcome we have ever experienced.
The food is superb. The pool area blissful and the gardens and grounds are great too.
Our room was in the old part and very comfortable.
It is nearly as quiet and peaceful as it looks but be aware there is a motorway that runs through these valleys and they create a constant thrum of traffic noise like background white noise and constant. Not a big problem though.

Wonderful hotel with stunning views

Our room on the 2nd floor was very spacious and comfortable. The views from the windows were stunning. We had some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside and found the number 6 bus stop around half a mile away, which did save the taxi fares. The pool was also very welcome on the hot days, but unfortunately was closed for cleaning the outside for the last 2 days which was disappointing. The restaurant looked good, but we didn't use it as we ate out in Chambery most evenings. It was expensive though, but probably right for the fine dining experience. I did think the breakfast was expensive for basically a continental buffet. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room was disappointing, but we would definitely look to return some time.

Enjoyable Chateau Hotel.

We stayed for 5 nights at this hotel in August. Our room was big and had plenty of character with a comfortable bed. We had a peaceful, relaxing stay apart from some noise from the restaurant. The hotel is quite a distance from Chambery town centre and too far to walk. There is a commercial centre down the hill, which is walkable. The breakfast was disappointing and far too expensive for what was on offer. We didn't eat at the expensive gourmet restaurant but the brasserie meal we had was very poor.

This is a high-end, gorgeous hotel in a 14th Century chateau, but with all the modern amenities. The restaurant there is first-rate, and popular (we couldn't get in on our second night there). Many nice extras and very large, very comfortable rooms. A highlight for our trip.

Nachdem wir endlich an dem uns herablassend Behandelden, unterkühltem Empfang vorbei waren ( Das war am nächsten Morgen bei anderer Person viel besser)
kam ir im opulenten Zimmer 125 (separte Cabin) an.
Bie 10 Grad am Morgen hätten wir uns schon zumindet im Abend eine Heizung gewünscht.
das Abendessen war nach üblichem schmerzverzehrte Gesicht vom Personal, da wir keine Rservierung hatten, problemlos und gut. Vom Preis her eher günstig.
Auch das Frühstück war gut- auch hier das Personal sehr freundliche.

L’autre problème ce sont les chambres dont l’insonorisation est proche de zéro. Dans ma chambre je pouvais parfaitement entendre nos voisins. Enfin le restaurant n’est pas très bon.

On adore cet hôtel, c’est la deuxième fois que nous venons. Le personnel, les chambres, la piscine, le domaine, et le cadre idyllique donnent déjà envie d’y retourner une fois partis.

Les seuls petits points d’amélioration pour rendre le séjour parfait : les petites bouteilles d’eau payantes en chambre (en général offertes dans la plupart des hôtels), les gels douche en très petite quantité et les mouchoirs qui manquent.

A disappointing stay

We had looked forward to some nice days at the chateau but were very disappointed in our stay. The rooms were OK, but dusty which caused allergies. The near by cities were not interesting at all and didn’t have any cafes but just pizzerias/fast food. The view from the rooms were looking right in to treetops. The breakfast was really bad, and half empty a lot of the time and we had to ask for plates etc. The food in the restaurant was not interesting at all. So, all in all we wouldn’t recommend a stay here.

Bon séjour en famille au château pour les 40 ans de notre fille.
Un menu \"découverte \" qui fut une bonne surprise avec, en prime, le petit clin d'œil du chef et la confection d'un gâteau d'anniversaire pour clore cet excellent déjeuner. Une excellente nuitée et un petit-déjeuner copieux et varié nous ont lancé d'excellente humeur à la découverte du lac du Bourget tout proche.
Un merci au personnel pour sa gentillesse et son professionnalisme.

Anlage war toll, sehr grosse Zimmer und tolles Ambiente innerhalb des Schlosses und der Umgebung.
Gewöhnungsbedürftig war das Duschen in einer frei stehenden Badewanne.
Enttäuschend war der Service, von einem 4 Stern Hotel erwartet man definitiv mehr: keine Pool Tücher am 2. Tag mit der Begründung, dass die Tour de France in der Nähe stattfindet und der Wäscheservice nicht geliefert wird, Postkarten die wir am Empfang mit Marke abgegeben wollten wurden von der ersten etwas unfreundlichen Mitarbeiterin abgewiesen (beim Check out hat sie ein sehr freundlicher Mitarbeiter entgegen genommen), beim Nachtessen konnte die Bedienung keine Auskunft geben zum Wein (nachfrage nach einem trockenen Rosé) es wurde auch kein anderes Personal hinzugezogen das hätte Auskunft geben können, sondern wir wurden mit der Aussage stehen gelassen „je ne sais pas“… und der Aufforderung, irgendeinen Wein auszusuchen…

Wunderschönes Schloss in sehr gepflegter Anlage. Tolle Poolarea.
Im Restaurant sehr lange Wartezeit bis man mal die Karte kriegte. Speisekarte gibts auf Schiefertafeln, leider echt unleserlich geschrieben.
Beim Frühstück waren die Tische nicht gedeckt. Wäre grundsätzlich kein Problem, wenn denn Besteck und Servietten aufgelegen hätten.

Ansonsten schöner Aufenthalt mit ruhigen Zimmern.

Tout était bien. Le reproche à adresser toutefois est que bien que la chambre ait été réservée dès mois plus tôt pour deux nuits, il n’y avait pas de place disponible pour le dîner pour aucun des soirs. C’est embêtant puisqu’une des raisons de retenir un tel endroit est de ne pas avoir à ressortir le soir pour dîner.

Die Lage des Chateaus ist grossartig . Wunderschön im riesigen Park gelegen. Grosse Terrasse mit schönen Tischen und Stühlen. Leider nicht so sauber als wir dort waren. Das Frühstück ließ keine wünsche offen.
Das Restaurant in der Orangerie vereöhnte ins am abeng mit einen siper Essen. Ein Genuss

Très bel hôtel,chambre spacieuse moquette épaisse au sol ,salle de bain avec baignoire,un peu plus de chaleur aurait été appréciable dans la chambre.restaurant l orangerie exceptionnel ,découverte incroyable de saveurs inédites,présentation parfaite des plats,personnel charmant très professionnel,le chef est un artiste merci pour cette merveilleuse soirée

Ça aurait pû être mieux

Expérience mitigée : un lit au sommier cassé et camouflé, une bouteille d’eau déjà utilisée retrouvée dans notre chambre, un rideau de douche qui tombe facilement, un service au restaurant la cantine qui manque de séniorité et des personnes sans masques face au buffet du petit déjeuner… Des points positifs avec une piscine dont nous avons profité, une réactivité à la réception pour traiter les problèmes rencontrés, et un dédommagement en fin de séjour pour signifier des excuses. Globalement on s’attendait à mieux mais peut être nous n’avons juste pas eu de chance

Mooi en rustig gelegen midden de natuur, maar toch slechts op enkele kilometers van meerdere interessante plaatsen. Accomodatie en personeel ok. Het zwembad ligt op een open plek waardoor er bij zeer mooi weer heel weinig schaduw is.

Magnifique HOTEL et personnel au TOP !

Etablissements superbe, haut de gamme, très bien tenu.
Un vrai plaisir.
La chambre était magnifique.
Nous avons choisi le restaurant La cantine, nous avons dîné correctement, sans plus.
Plats peu copieux et loin de leur appellation.
Les œufs meurette, avec une sauce jus de viande, la pièce du boucher, une entrecôte, le pâté en croûte minuscule.
En bref nous avons mangé correctement mais nous ne nous sommes pas régalés.
Le nom aurait du nous avertir !
Dommage, je pense qu'il y a la place pour un vrai bistrot, même plus cher.
En conclusion, il faut y aller pour l'hôtel qui est remarquable avec des gens très professionnels et très gentils, mais pas pour la restauration ou peut-être choisir le restaurant gastronomique.

Le cadre, la piscine, le petit déjeuner, le personnel au top.
Par contre la suite deluxe est mal insonorisée car au dessus du restaurant (on entend la musique comme si c'était dans la chambre des voisins).
Attente pour obtenir la chambre mais boissons offertes.

Chambéry, niet zo ver van het hotel, is een historische stad.

Très bel endroit à ne pas manquer

Chambre de luxe superbe donnant sur la forêt, avec beaucoup de petites attentions comme une crème pour les yeux. Il y a la cafetière la théière. Le petit dej parfait et inclus dans le prix et l environnement très bien entretenu et très beau. Un havre de paix dans les hauteurs de Chambéry.

Bon accueil mais un peu léger sur les dossiers d’inscrIption
On a fait payer deux fois une chambre et après rectification j’en suis pour 50 euros de ma poche sur des prix différents entre un paiement à l’arrIvee et le paiement sur site des deux chambres !
