The turret room was exceptional. We felt like medieval royalty. Olivier and his staff were so welcoming. We had a lovely breakfast in front of the fire and were given a personal tour of the old aquarium cave and the new sauna and spa rooms. This stay was one of the highlights of our trip to France. The only thing missing was some sunshine.

The Chateau is beautiful and has such potential to be fabulous. In fairness we were there during off season, but we do see the need to update the bedrooms. The decor and furnishings are showing wear. The Chateau manager, Sarah, was the sweetest and worked so hard to ensure our stay was pleasurable. Sarah's service and just the pure fact that we were staying in a Chateau, helped us overlook the minor condition of the rooms. Would we stay here again? In a heartbeat!

This is a very unique property - a chateau built on the front of a cave. Talk about wine storage! The property has incredible potential, the chateau has remarkable old details that will be restored and the new owners are working hard to bring it up to 4-star status. When it's completed, it will be stunning.

Our experience with this stay was our favorite. The proprietor was so nice, very willing and happy to share his love of the place and how much he loved making the property sustainable. We would stay there again for sure. Our one regret was that we only stayed one night. Oliviiet helped us get a reservation at a beautiful restaurant near the chateau and kept in touch with us to make sure we got there. A truly lovely man and gentleman. Unique small castle with charming rooms in a very peaceful setting. Our room was large, comfy bed, large soaking tub and separate shower with a great view from third floor. The pool and walking paths on the property are great. I enjoy birdwatching so it was perfect. Also greatly enjoyed sitting on the patio at night and looking at stars. Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant.

Oddly the one place we stayed at for only one day night was the most memorable of our trip. The staff was friendly helpful and checked us in a bit early. But we were allowed to walk the ground and use the kayak’s and hang out at the pool. It was well just relaxing and beautiful and the owner was great

Great castle experience!!

It's worth the splurge to get the experience of staying in a castle. Service was provided mostly by Asma, and he was awesome! Made us feel very comfortable, and he definitely enhanced the experience (made us feel like royalty).

Room was wonderful and in the top two floors in one of the turrets. It was two stories with the bedroom being on the top floor with wonderful birds eye views of the grounds. Like being in a tree house and both floors were deocrated with modern touches but still keeping the integrity of the original building. Bathroom on first floor was incredible with a nice big soaking tub. The hosts were exceptional and provided a nice tour of the grounds. The grounds themselves were amazing. The best pool I've ever seen, access to a river for kayaking, plenty of places to walk the property including caverns hidden up the hill behind the chateau which was like stepping back in history.

Beautiful, quiet, well taken care of, unique property, chateau tucked away in the forest set into an old quarry.

Everyone of the staff we interacted with were very pleasant and helpful. Room was great - spacious, with a balcony private bath with lovely views.

Loved something that is unique about this property - taking the kayaks along the creek - it was a very peaceful, memorable evening when we did so.

We did a breakfast and a dinner here to get a traditional French dining experience - which they provide with authenticity.

Don't miss out on this place, it's cozy and quiet

This is our 2nd time staying at this Chateau and we would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in or near Nazelles-Negron. It's a fun place to just stay in and walk around the grounds to explore. They have some caves you can walk in as well as the river you can grab a canoe and go rowing for a nice quiet time away from it all. We didn't get to use the pool as it was too cold but it looked very nice as well.

Definitely a unique experience. If you've ever wanted a \"The Shining\"-like experience, this is the place. It's an old, spooky palace and there were only two other couples in the whole building the night we stayed. The staff goes home for the night, and it really felt like we were in this big palace alone (we only saw the other couples at breakfast). The decor is quite peculiar as well, in our room we had a drawing on the wall of what I assume was the original tenant, and another piece of art with British soldiers all facing away from the viewer (think Blair Witch Project). There are a lot of interesting places to explore on the property - poorly lit caves, a terrace with an old decrepit greenhouse and a trail that leads into the hills where we saw a deer. We were searching for the place where they keep the bodies, but alas we did not find it.

But seriously, it's a beautiful palace with a great breakfast and you should stay here unless you are easily creeped out by old, isolated mansions.

A unique place to stay.

The Château is quite fantastic and we recommend you set aside some time to explore it. The Château has been built into the rock behind and the troglodyte caves make up part of it. You can explore the grounds around the Château and the caves. The parking is inside one of the caves and can be accessed by something which makes you feel like you’re in a Bond movie. There are 2 Tesla destination chargers available. Olivier and the team were very helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.

We regretfully only stayed one night, but the hotel is amazing. The property is so much more that we expected set within the hill side you get to walk in a cave like entryway to get to the elevator. Spectacular views and a relaxing atmosphere you couldn't ask for more. We ate breakfast and it was made of local ingredients and was made with care as if we were being made a meal at a friends house. We felt more like family than guests.

Fun place to stay!

We loved our stay at this hotel! It was very quiet and we were able to sleep well. It is a unique place with some modern décor as well as some traditional from the time period. The elevator was actually built into the back side of the hotel which is an old man-made cave area. It was lots of fun to explore the caves and ruins behind the hotel. The grounds in front provided a beautiful place to walk. We were there during a cold snap, so we did not use the pool, but it looked like it would be a beautiful place to sit on a warm day. The staff was amazing! They were very helpful with things to do and places to eat. We had dinner at the chateau one night and it was amazing!!! The chef's food was simple and delicious! The flavors of everything were fantastic! I would recommend this hotel if you would like a unique experience in a beautiful place! The only wifi is in one pleasant public room of the hotel. Some would think of it as a negative, but it also provides for an \"unplugged\" experience which we enjoyed!

Absolutely lovely setting combining a sense of privacy and escape yet convenient to tourist sites and Amboise. Upon our arrival we were struck by the beauty of the property. We were warmly greeted and welcomed and our host went the extra mile to address any extra needs we had, as well as providing direction as to how best to plan our visit in the area, given the heat wave that had set in during our trip. We stayed in a troglodyte room that was fabulously cool and charming and would highly recommend this to fellow travelers as a not just a quick stopover location but a terrific base for exploring the Loire. It's a destination all to itself.

Was a large room well laid out, only gripe if any was the fact the floors creaked a lot but didn't bother us other than that the place was bathed in history and the grounds were excellent well worth a couple nights if you have the time. A little hard to find the GPS had us pulling into someone else's house and is up a long driveway but again once you know where it is in and out like a dream

A Chateau at it's best

Room 8 is the winner! You are up in the turret tower with bare beams a couple hundred years old, yet have more electrical outlets then any hotel on our trip. Go figure Olivier is working a labor of love and I found or we found. Charlotte great contrary to some reports. It takes a few minutes to get into town and yet it is convenient to the big three Chateaus to visit in the Loire. The pool is heated and the property is nice to walk around, go down to the point and watch the river. Highly recommend it.

A cool comfortable blend of old and new

My family appreciated staying in an old castle without sacrificing modern amenities.. We stayed in the 3rd floor family room, which is really 2 rooms separated by a very steep stairway (almost like a ladder). The shared bathroom was modern and clean with a great double headed rain shower/removablle handheld sprayer. We loved the simple, modern decor of our rooms accented with beautiful beams on the ceilings. The beds were comfortable and our room was quiet. The staff was so friendly and helpful with driving directions and travel advice. The continental breakfast served in the dining room was fresh, delicious and plentiful. The common sitting room had WiFi, a fire in the fireplace, interesting photo books and modern magazines, and a progressive playlist of relaxing music playing in the background. It was a space equally enjoyed by my hipster college-aged children and their parents. This hotel has a cave and beautiful grounds to explore. The hotel location is a convenient drive to all the must-see castles in the Loire.

Lovely Chateau

The chateau had beautiful grounds and large, comfortable, and very clean rooms. The building backed up to a cliff, so the garage was actually a cave, with a second cave walkway to the chateau. The large deck off the first floor of rooms also backed up to the cliff, so there were caves to explore there too. The service at check in, check out, and at breakfast was excellent. The manager was always willing to help with planning day trips or making ice available. A car and gps are needed to get to the chateau.

Beautiful chateau in great location. I wished we could have stayed for a week! The young couple managing it were delightful and very helpful. Rooms are clean and spacious and the guest areas oozing with charm, history and great décor. Note: check-in is 4pm/. We arrived early to find it locked up. No matter, we went for a drive around the nearby chateaux. It was my husband's birthday and the managers suggested and booked a wonderful restaurant, below the walls of Amboise Chateau, about 10 minutes away.
