Staff on reception and housekeeping were great. They were able to get us early check in, offered to help with bags etc to the room.
It was a busy day/evening as we were there for a wedding, however most of the time just one person serving at the bar and not friendly.
We had 2 rooms, one was a little tired/needed updating. The second was better. On a hot sunny day both rooms were very very hot!
I was on second floor/dorma style rooms and the corridor had a damp/foisty smell.
Plenty of parking.
Grounds of hotel are lovely.

The breakfast was okay, unfortuately the bacon was as tough as old boots, unedable, it obviously had been under the hot lamps far to long, no beans or black pudding available.

The lift door was very slow to open obviously in need of maintenance,
Mirrors in the room smeary, the ensuite dirty and in need of upgrading, shower over bath needs replacing, the shower head needs replacing or cleaning, the controls were hard to operate very stiff, the wash basin tap old and stiff, the WC was dirty inclding the floor area.

Other than that the staff were great and very friendly, welcoming, the service perfect and our evening meal amazing

Hotel is set in beautiful grounds; also close to Piccadilly line underground station. Standard rooms have no air conditioning. All in all lovely place. I will definitely stay again.

We've been staying about once a year at this hotel for quite a while now. The staff are really great and the spacious Garden Lodge bedroom is a very good size with a super king bed which is pretty comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower. The room facilities are pretty good too. The downsides are the need for bedroom/bathroom refurbishments and their breakfasts which we no longer have. It's an expensive (£24 pp) buffet style breakfast only so not cooked to order and their offerings are a bit limited and not very tasty for this type of 4 star hotel. We are happy to continue staying there but only in the garden lodge rooms as the water pressure in the main hotel rooms is very poor.

Clean and friendly, and a nice restaurant for dinner. We stayed in West Lodge Park Hotel for old time’s sake, as we used to live in London and attended a dinner+concert series there. It’s on a charming country-style estate, run by the same family, near Cockfosters Underground Station. So it’s within easy reach of central London. Trent Country Park next door has great walking trails for humans and dogs. West Lodge is a bit tired, but may be doing some renovations.

Place is stunning the building and grounds are immaculate and with a great deal of history to read and see. Checked in late and the night manager Ben was superb a lovely man who opened the bar for us for a quick pint. There was no air conditioning in the property and the room was stifling, had to keep window wide open all night but even with this and a small fan the heat was unbearable! Rooms are dated, traditional style in keeping with the building but could do with a make over feel old, TV's and furniture would benefit from an overhaul! Also found toenails on carpet behind the bin - reported this to reception!

There was a bit of mould on the grouting in the bathroom and some paint touch-up is required on the heating pipe in the bedroom area. The sash window and frame could do with some sprucing-up and aircon in the room is required. I understand that it is a period building, but I like modern conveniences too.

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds. I stayed in a room in an annexe and my check-in would have been a better experience if someone had shown me to my room instead of dragging my cases back and forth until I eventually had to return to reception to get further instructions. The bedroom was smaller than I expected and not to the standard of the rest of the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bill was more than I had been quoted when I first booked and the invoices were not clear. I had called and increased my booking from one room to two but because I had spoken to the hotel directly and not amended the booking though Hotels.com I was given a poorer deal on the second room. Lovely Easter lunch.

A complete disappointment

The hotel is old and tired and the rooms are small. The bed was small and very uncomfortable. The pillows sunk to nothing once you put your head down on them - whether you put one on top of the other or not! The shower handle did not turn and we needed two of us to turn it on! The remote control did not work.
We went for tea in the Beale Restaurant, we waited to be seated but noone came. A cup of tea was £6 and the high tea was £45 per person. When we went to ask where we could get a cup of tea, a waitress told us to go and sit in the bar. After 20 minutes of waiting for nothing we left.
The hotel is in such beautiful grounds, the views are lovely from the room but it needs a lot of work in order to be called a 4 star hotel.
Our one night away in ages was a complete disappointment. When asked at checkout how our stay was I explained. No discount was given instead just an apology and a discount or upgrade next time. We won't be going back!

Checked in with my 1 year old and my mum late afternoon and the room wasn’t the one i booked with the big bed! They asked if i want 2 twins but with my little one being poorly that wasn’t an option because she can fall from a tiny bed! They gave me cot bed which was broken! The heating didn’t work! So they had an old small heater that put on instead! The room was so cold all night. So paid £144 without breakfast, but i had to pay extra £30 which i had to because i had to give my baby girl something to eat. Very poor quality and no many options

My partner and I checked into West Lodge Park Hotel in Barnet on Friday. At the beggining we had no issues with the hotel room and found it very nice and clean. However, on the day of the wedding we wanted to take a shower and brown water came out with black/brown coloured bits coming out. We went to reception and informed them about the state of the water and they explained they were having problems with it. The room and staff has been great otherwise but because we had a wedding to attend we had to shower in this water as the other option was to not shower at all and I unfortunately have an infection because of it. The water was initially brown but became somewhat clear but the small chunks continued coming out. I took videos of this however the website will not let me upload them so I have taken screenshots.

We arrived on Sunday in preparation for a weeks work clearing and tidying up my late stepfathers house. The bar meal was O.K. but my wife, who cannot eat any seafood, had very little choice on the bar menu. We were offered the restaurant menu which, apart from being much more expensive, also had very little choice. So for the remainder of our stay until Saturday, we ate elsewhere. The room was comfortable and the breakfast menu and choice was excellent as usual.

Bathroom was so basic, nowhere to put your things, way too small and needed a total refurb. Crooked toilet seat, tiny corner shower where i kept banging my elbow against the inside handle because there was no space to move.
The price we were told it would be for breakfast was not the price they charged us.
Not worth the money at all!!!

The grounds are lovely but the hotel desperately needs a refurb to warrant the prices they charge.
Very Very disappointed - There are much better hotels around

He went out of his way to make sure that l was comfortable and catered for on a highest level. Great location, very well kept, breakfast was fantastic, evening meal was to die for but three little issues -
1. When walking in the main door stinks of cigarettes as people obviously smoke there, plenty of other places where let them use the main door.
2. WIFI - I was on the second floor, outside by the lift - full signal i was the next door to the corridor and as the walls are solid brick I got 1 bar due to the access point distance so Wi-Fi was not great, 3 more access points sort=s this by the way ( I work in IT)
3. The room was clean, bedsheets especially and bathroom was great. But the room had not been vaced properly as still someone's long hairs on the floor, so not a great one.

But would I stay there again - yes, but would this time make sure to tell reception but only noticed the hair on the carpet this morning just as leaving

We held our wedding reception at this hotel 41 years ago and it's pleasing that very little has changed. Breakfast was excellent. The only disappointment was our bathroom which felt grubby - the rim underneath the toilet bowl was stained or hadn't been cleaned. The area around the shower base was dusty and the tiles around the hand sink similarly had splash marks and all the tiles could do with a polish. As at clean bathroom is a crucial part of feeling comfortable in a hotel it was a shame as everything else was very good.

A beautiful hotel, earns it's 4* rating. Food looked very good, we ate off the bar menu. Drinks very expensive though. Room and all facilities all very good. We booked this hotel as it was marked \"dog friendly\". Not sure if this is the Hotel's fault or Hotels.com, but it is NOT dog friendly. A £25 charge for our dog to stay in our room, nowhere for the dog to sit with you whilst you eat, so had to be left in the room, luckily he's quiet. Please remove the \"dog friendly\" icon from this hotel.
