A gloriously serene retreat in the heart of a busy Kyoto neighborhood. Particularly delightful feature is the lounge, where you can sip Japanese sake and look out on the nearby pagoda. Can't recommend highly enough.

It has been an awesome stay here. The staff and services were great. My family loved the breakfast and lounge. We ended up using taxi a lot which is extra expenses, but the location is still amazing since it’s so close to Kiyomizu-dera temple. Walking around in the morning and evening with less crowd was very pleasant. Actually, we forgot two wallets with cards and IDs in the safe. The hotel staff reached out via email and WhatsApp. It was such a relief that we could return to the hotel and pick up the wallets. Really appreciate the staff and their great help!

We had an amazing experience at Seiryu Kyoto truly a stay defined by excellence.
The hotel exceeded our expectations in every way, from the impeccable service to the attention to detail that made everything feel special. One highlight was the visitor center, which was thoughtfully curated with snacks and engaging cultural shows that made our stay even more memorable.
Everything felt seamless, welcoming, and beautifully representative of the Kyoto experience. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it.

The breakfast was good, but the bread selection wasn’t.
The snacks in the guest lobby was always finished, because they kept giving small portions and very few ones too. The options for vegetarians was minimal.
Room service took an hour just for dessert and then when we called them to take the trolley, they took around half an hour.
When they cleaned our room they mixed all our products together including our used water bottles together, which is unhygienic and messy. We kept our products on different sides of the sink so we wouldn’t mix them up, but they decided to rearrange it they way they liked. They’re only supposed to clean!
We initially had a room with a view of the pagoda, but it was covered with all the construction within the hotel that we didn’t even open our curtains.

The room was spotless, the staff was excellent from reservation to departure, the property was amazing and location was the best in the city in the Kiyomizu area. We were greeted at arrival and given an upgrade. Our bags had already been stored in our room. We had wonderful lounge experiences with the Maiko performance and the tea ceremony (which my kids loved) because it was "just enough" for them. I would recommend this hotel over and over again to anyone looking for a hotel in Kyoto.

The stand out about this hotel is the people. Everything with the property is excellent. But a hotel is about people. The people that care for you here are so lovely and warm that they feel more like family. You really look forward to seeing them every day and engaging them on the traditions and culture of Japan.

Hotel Seiryu Kyoto completely blew me away. The staff were incredibly attentive without ever feeling overbearing, and every little detail felt intentional, from the scent in the hallways to the way the room lighting changes with the time of day. It is amazing how quiet and calm it is, considering it is just steps from one of Kyoto’s busiest tourist streets. The perfect mix of luxury, hospitality, and serenity.

You know how they say Japanese service is second to none? The Hotel Seiryu in Kyoto Kiyomizu takes that concept to a whole new level.

Everything from the welcome tour to the hotel to the impeccably kept guest lounge to the breakfast in the library is accompanied with top-of-the-line service. Needless to say, the staff was very friendly, but they also went above and beyond when giving recommendations an d fulfilling special requests.

One thing that really struck me was that the hotel is located in such a way where it would be an excellent stay for both family and couples alike. When staying here, you will be right next to Kiyomizu-zaka, the bustling sampler of Kyoto culture and delights. However, the moment you step up to the gates of The Hotel Seiryu, silence. You really can't get it better than that.

100% worth it!

Cannot emphasize enough how AMAZING this hotel is! We had originally reserved a 3 night stay and upon an hour at the hotel we knew we wanted to extend our reservation and snagged the last room for an additional night. From the immaculate attention to detail, to superb customer relations and ideal location you simply cannot top it. Worth every penny.

It’s a very quiet hotel and convenient location. Walking distance to most attraction.
We stay in the room with lounge access with free alcohol drink and snacks. It’s the best place to spend a bit time with friends after dinner. Also got roof top bar with beautiful view.

We loved this hotel. It is extremely well located, the staff was amazing, and the breakfast was spectacular. The private ofuro baths are highly recommended. We will be back without a doubt. Since we made our reservation with Expedia, we got a lot of complimentary drinks and snacks. The guest lounge is beautiful and full of delicious food options. We will go back without a doubt.

Property is located right to the street where you want to be in Kyoto (Gion district). Enter the property and it's pure serene and bliss. The Rooftop bar is exclusive for the 48 guests and is spectacular. The staff at the hotel are amazing. The rooms are very well proportioned and the furniture is modernistic including the expansive bathroom with showers and a tub. What not to say about the view? Spectacular. Truly a unique property with historical significance. One of the restaurant is themed as a Library which actually was a school library. Lot's of historical significance to this property.

We had such a wonderful stay in this hotel. The balcony was so spacious with a lovely view of the Toji temple. The staff is wonderful & they made our stay enjoyable. And to top it off, we were treated to a fantastic performance by the Geikos right in the hotel. It was a truly unforgettable experience, especially being able to take pictures of them.

Annoying to not receive the Silver reward despite having Silver status. Also annoying to have to pay extra for the onsen use.

Front staff didn’t speak English well and were judgemental, demanding our room number when we walked into the lobby for the first couple of days.

The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had great conversations with a few staff members and learned a lot about the hotel's history—it was once a school that closed due to low attendance. The renovation was amazing, preserving all the original architecture and enhancing it with a beautiful garden and fixtures.

The lounge was fantastic, offering complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day. It's also where I learned to make traditional green tea. We were lucky to arrive on a day when two maiko performed for the hotel guests. Afterwards, we had the chance to chat with them and learn about their lives.

Despite being in the heart of a popular tourist destination, the hotel was incredibly serene. The rooftop bar provided a stunning view of Kyoto, where my wife and I watched a breathtaking sunset.

We hope to visit this hotel again in the future.

Pre-arrival: Ms. Matsuzawa went above and beyond providing me with local information, assisting me with logistical matters with my itinerary.

Overall, everything about Hotel Seiryu was above my expectation. Cleanliness, hospitality, relaxing rooms, best Japanese breakfasts I have had... only wish they had a spa/onsen on property. I would recommend this hotel for couples who seek luxury, elegant simplicity, the highest level of hospitality with the ease of being in the center of the tourist area of Kyoto. We will never stay anywhere else when in Kyoto.

Located close to Kiyomizu-dera so you can visit early before tourists arrive
Beautiful property with great pagoda views
Wonderful concierge that helps with local reservations
Guest Lounge with high-end food and drinks during the day

Con:
Slow housekeeping. We had a 5:30 dinner reservation and when we checked on our room at 3:40, the cleaner was still there. We returned again at 4:30 and the cleaner was still there, when we asked how much longer they would need, they said at least 30 minutes. At this point, we had to get the front desk involved to ask the cleaner to leave the room. During the over 1 hour and 30 minutes the cleaner was in the room, they neglected to replace toilet paper. We were disappointed because the hotel asks at check-in what time you would like room cleaning and we said 10am. Not sure why this wasn't completed until almost 5pm

Did not acknowledge our wedding anniversary, which they were notified of. Most luxury hotels would have left a note, but there was no acknowledgement from the hotel.

Far from train lines. However, cabs and buses are easily available

Top notch hotel on the hill street to Kiyomizu temple. Very exclusive, palace style entry in the midst of busy area. Western style but in Kyoto taste and service. Had a pagoda view room right in front of Yasakanoto. Super clean, attention to detail. Large room for big luggage. You must be classy and not sloppy - be respectful.

Quaint, but probably not worth the price.

The location of Hotel Seiryu is perfect. You're surrounded by the historic area of Kyoto, and our early morning walks around the property were particularly memorable. It is a tourist destination though, and it gets pretty crazy later in the day. The hotel is also a short walk to the Nishiki market and there are lots of great shopping and restaurants nearby. The room was huge by Japanese standards, and the bathroom was particularly well-designed for two people. The private Bistro restaurant that is on the property is fantastic and very affordable. We highly recommend eating there even if you don't stay at the hotel. The hotel concierge was especially helpful and friendly as was able to get us dinner reservations for an exclusive omakase experience that was sold out online. We were, however, extremely disappointed in the hotel breakfast. It was not anything special and was ridiculously overpriced. The K36 rooftop bar had a nice view of the city but was also disappointing. The off-menu drink I had was terrible, and they charged us an unadvertised "sitting fee" that was more than any of the drinks we had. Also, many of the staff were unable to speak beyond broken English (or Chinese), which is something they advertise as an international hotel. I'm sure we missed out on some things as a result. In general, it's a nice hotel, but probably not worth the price or the Forbes ranking. We'll probably explore other hotels in the area for our next visit to Kyoto.

This may be the best hotel experience of my life.
The facilities, atmosphere, location, cleanliness, and especially the kindness and attentiveness of the hotel staff were all exceptional. One of the greatest privileges of staying here was being able to take an early morning walk through Sannenzaka, Ninenzaka, and Kiyomizu-dera before the crowds arrived. The views of Kiyomizu-dera from the hotel created unforgettable memories and beautiful photos.
The surrounding restaurants and shops were wonderful, and the hotel breakfast was absolutely perfect. We traveled with our child, and he loved every moment of our stay as well. Despite being in such a popular area, the hotel was remarkably quiet and peaceful.
Seiryu Kyoto offers the perfect balance of relaxation and exploration. It is a place where you can enjoy both a comfortable retreat and an exciting Kyoto experience. We will never forget our stay and hope to return again someday.

최고의 장점은 위치. 조용한 호텔 입구를걸어나오자마자 키요미즈의 데라로 가는 메인 길이있다. 걸어서5-7분이면 갈수있음.

조용한 휴식은 친절하고 깨끗하고 음식도 맛있는 호텔에서 즐기고, 가벼운 산책겸 호텔 주변을 다니며 간식도 사먹고 기념품도 사면서 일본 역사속 마을에 온듯한 느낌을 즐길 수있다. 인파에 지치면 언제든 바로 호텔로 돌아와 휴식하면된다.

2박3일 중 식사는
조식2회,석식2회, 중식2회를모두 호텔 내에서 해결했다.
첫쨋날 석식은 호텔내 프렌치 식당에서.
둘쨋날 석식은 호텔내 스시바에서 먹었고
첫째날 중식은 루프탑 바에서,
둘쨋날 중식은인룸다이닝으로 시켜 먹었는데 모든 음식이 맛있었다.

호텔방은 현장에서 301스위트로 변경해서 있었는데 넓고 편안하고, 특히나 호칸지가 한 눈에 보이는 뷰와 석양이 매우 아름다운 방이었다.

여유가 된다면 301호를 적극 추천한다.
기본 킹 사이즈 베드가 있지만 방과 거실에 엑스트라베드를 추가해 6명까지 묶을 수 있다고 들었다.

한국인 직원이 안내와 설명을 친절히 잘해주고 직원들 모두 영어를 잘해서. 머무는 내내 편안하게 있을 수 있었다.
