This Hotel is not for everyone. We like it because it is a Room with Bathroom. Room is cleaned ever day. The room is right on Via Nationale. There is an Irish Pub across Via Nationale with great atmosphere and great people. 5 minute walk to Trajans Market. 15 minute stroll to the Spanish Steps and a few hundred meters more to Popolo. 200 meters from Hotel to Thelma line Metro. 200 meters to Baths of Diocletian. The location is perfect and the Price is great. For those looking for a Spa, Breakfast and a concierge this is not the hotel for you. We love it. Stayed there twice. This last trip was 20 nights.

Hotel was in a beautiful historical building, it shares the building with over hotel, you check in at the golden tulip parim hotel about an 8min walk, they give you the code of the door and your key. They were very nice. The room was a decent size for a twin bed, the bathroom was clean and modern with good size towels.

There were a couple of things I noticed with the room, the table was pretty but broken (a bar missing underneath), some veneer was missing from the bedside tables.

There was a lockable fridge which doubled as a safe! Which was a great feature.

The rooms were kept clean, however we were only given a single duvet without a cover for one of the beds for the first night, the second night it was at least out in a cover for one of the beds, the 3rd night it disappeared altogether. The sheets and pillow were clean and good quality, the beds firm but very comfortable.

The hotel is in a good position for walking to many historical sites (better enjoy hills). Trevi fountain, pantheon, colosseum all within reasonable walking distance, with other sites not much further

It was a good trip, central location for a reasonable price

I wouldnt book here. The instructions are confusing. You have to write in a specific address. They have no reception area. Expect u to walk in the heat with lugages to one hotel to check in and than walk to the actual hotel. They offer no service for that inconvenience. The elevator is very tiny and sometimes didnt work . There was ants in the room. Noisy . There was a dog barking near our room .

Very satisfied for a budget hotel! The room was very clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was great. Also, I really appreciated the location which was on a main street with great shopping, but still quiet area. Close enough to the train station by walking (10mins) and the main attractions like the colosseum / Trévi fountain (20mins). Theres also easy public transport buses across the street which was convenient if we didn’t want to walk (we used the CityMapper App).

The only negatives for me was that the reception for check-in was relocated to a different hotel 4 blocks away which was inconvenient.

All in all, I would stay here again.

After a long flight and travelling in the heat through Rome, we arrived at hotel Regina Giovanna only to find there is no reception desk. Just a door with a message saying we had to take a 10 minute walk to the sister hotel to do the check-in. This was not mentioned when we booked the hotel and it was really annoying.
Once in our room, we found it to be very pleasant, very clean and just what we needed as a base for our visit to Rome.

We had the most wonderful stay here with our toddler!!! I didn’t know I had originally booked a suite that was on the one floor they didn’t have an elevator too and they upgraded us as a surprise because they knew we’d have my toddler and stroller in tow!
This place has so much beautiful character inside and out, staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s just a short walk to the store and train station making it really easy to take day trips to other places like junfrojoch,lauterbrunnen and interlaken
The views from our room were breath taking. The breakfast and dinner restaurant were delicious. We would’ve stay here a whole week if we could’ve!

This place should not be considered a Hotel it is more like a hostel. No staff on site, you must check I'm at a separate hotel 10 minutes down the road. Room walls were made out of paper, you could hear everything literally everything your neighbours were up to from going to the bathroom to joining in with their conversation. If you don't like sleep this is the place for you as the windows are also as thin as the walls you hear the busy traffic all night. Avoid.

As others have mentioned check in is at another location. Be sure to message them in advance, as I did, to minimize confusion.
That said the room was excellent and a good value ... there is daily maid service if desired but otherwise it's nice and quiet, no one to bother you but no other services either. Sort of a hotel/Airbnb mashup.
Location is outstanding along Via Nazionale with subway a block away and a plethora of bus lines out front.

Having read some of the previous reviews, we were very pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the staff at the check in hotel, and even more surprised by the hotel Regina Giovanna. It was very easy to find, on the first floor of a lovely Italian apartment block. The room was very comfortable, very clean, great location, near to shops, restaurants, and the station.
Would certainly stay again.

Before you read any further this is not a hotel with facilities. It’s a room in a block. If you’re looking for room service, ironing etc - not for you. If you’re looking for convenient, comfortable within walking distance of everything with great places to eat, drink and shop on your doorstep it’s great.

Could do with supplying glasses for water but otherwise not much to fault - we would stay there again

We didn't actually stay in Hotel Regina as the room had not been made ready. However, the Golen Tulip Hotel, where we had to check in, as an apology arranged to provide us with a beautiful room with them and eventually collected us and our cases and here we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. There was an unfortunate disturbance on the first morning, as refurbishing work was carried out which woke us and continued to do so for over an hour. It was sorted and we would certainly book the Golden Tulip in the future.

Do not let this advertisement fool you. They do not have a reception at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel and learnt that the elevator doesn’t work to the hotels floor so had to carry our heavy suitcases all the way up the stairs. Then we got to the hotels door only to learn that they have no reception, so we had to carry our suitcases all the way back down again and walk 10 minutes to the partner hotel where we had to check in and go to whenever we had issues at this hotel. Which we did unfortunately. The toilet was continuously running all night long and when we requested someone come out (via their WhatsApp which they said you can use to contact) nobody came out to look into the issue during our stay. Also the air con was very weak which wasn’t great when the temperature was at 35 degrees C. Only saving grace was the location of the property and it’s convenient links so the public bus routes and tourist attractions. But I wouldn’t stay here again due to the fact that it’s advertising incorrect information and lack of

Please read before you book!!DO NOT BOOK HERE

First the bad: you have to firsr find the Golden Tulip hotel to check un which is about 1/2 mile away ( if you like paying extra for taxi, do that)you are not informed of this until AFTER you book the room.2nd-you have to find this hotel inside another hotel and find that carry your luggage up 3 sets of stairs because the elevator does not stop on floor 1 ( goes from 0 to 2). No air conditioning! No reception area as shown in pictures. You need a code to get in and then carry a large room key with you.The only communication is through Whats App and they do not respond. We booked a 2-day stay before our cruise and 2day after our cruise. We tried to cancel the 2 day stay that was after and they refused to refund our money so we had to stay there again:(

Address when I booked the room was different from actual location. check in was also in a different location form the 2 hotel addresses given. AC not working. Staff pretty much couldn't care less about customer service (no luggage help transporting from one hotel building to the next, when AC didn't work, all they could say was \"sorry\" and open the window). Check-in must be done at another hotel; They don't have reception on site. The elevator does not stop at the indicated floor, so you have to take your baggage up or down the stairs. The rooms have an unpleasant smell. It is a hotel located within a building where other hotels operate. The air conditioning does not work. The coffee maker was dirty.

Something I did not realize prior to my booking was that the reception of the hotel is actually a 10- minute walk away from the actual hotel/ hotel rooms. I received an email from the hotel 2 days prior to my day of check in, but the email was in Italian so I could not read it. Please be aware of this inconvenience as you will have to first arrive to a different location to check in, then walk over with all your luggage over cobblestones/ busy streets/ intersections to reach the actual hotel. This was burdensome as on the day of our departure, I asked the hotel reception to call us a taxi to pick us up from the front of the hotel. However, they said they would only call the taxi for us in front of reception. When asked why they couldn't just send the taxi to the front of the hotel (to avoid walking with all our large luggage), the staff just said because it is the way it is. Also, there is no AC in the building, but an option for a fan which is not strong. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone with any large luggage/ traveling with fam/ kids. Could be ok if you are young and alone or traveling light.

Hotel good for a city break.

I went for a city break for a couple of days. Good hotel to use if you just want somewhere to sleep. It was clean. However, the reception is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and the room was warm, there is air con but the best at working. Other than this it was ok and very secure - the night guard checked where we were going and then we had to enter a code into the hotel. The service at the reception was good and the receptionist was very helpful in directing us where to go and how to contact someone if we needed anything.
Close to Roma termini and about. 15 min walk to Trevi Fountain or Colosseum. Metro for Vatican City is just at the end of the road so very convenient.

The first point of contact in the hotel did not speak English at all.
The only receptionist on-site was for one of the few hotels housed in the building and was only willing to help those booked in \"their\" hotel.
We had to walk a few blocks and find the main hotel with receptionist who thankfully spoke English - to pick up the key to Hotel Regina Giovanna. Very inconvenient experience for a visitor to Italy. This should be mentioned on the website so that people do not feel \"cheated\".

The description for this hotel is slightly misleading as checkin for this hotel is actually half a mile away at a completely different hotel, something we only got told 1 day prior to our arrival. Luckily it was on the way from Termini station but still, caught us out a little bit.
We also had to ask twice to get a cot to the room, which did eventually make it just before the first night however she (the small one) couldn’t nap on arrival as she didn’t have a bed.
The ‘apartments’ themselves are clean, spacious and in a good location with communal fridge and microwave, which were good for the small one.

The room was basically a run down hole with plumbig problems, almost no natural light, looking into a shaft and yet super noisy. The worst thing was the unbearable nauseating smell from the sewer. Most of the things from the booking description were not true (size, equipment, overall condition etc.). I am sure the hotel has rooms that match the decription and matching photos, but this was certainly not it. The hotel has rooms scattered in different sections and floors of a residential building and (as noted) there is no reception.

The annex rooms we were given were nothing like in the photos shown on hotels.com. Had we known about this arrangement, we most likely would not have booked. El olor a aguas negras y gas metano que sale del desague de la ducha es HORRIBLE e impregna TODO el cuarto. La persona que limpia el cuarto sabe de la situación a la perfección, porque pone una toalla limpia dentro de la ducha tapando el agujero para que el olor no salga :(
NUNCA cambiaron las sábanas, solo arreglaban la cama con la misma sabana todos los días. Gracias a Dios que el cuarto era solo para dormir. El staff de recepción con aspecto de Medio Oriente (Varón y hembra) no tienen un ápice de servicio al cliente, pero la chica de Argentina y el chico de España son lo mejor que le ha pasado a ese hotel. Son lo único bueno que podemos señalar durante toda nuestra estadía 10/10. No me volvería a quedar allí si volviera a Roma. No esperaba un palacio ni servicio al cuarto por el precio, pero hay cosas que el hotel no puede darte y una de ellas es PAZ. El ruido de todos los huespedes contiguos se oye a través de todas las paredes y techo, el mal olor del baño, la cama dura, y los anormales de recepción con aspecto árabe, le quitan las ganas a cualquiera de volver. Muy bien localizado, pero con la cantidad casi infinita de hoteles compitiendo en la zona... me hubiera quedado en otro lado. Gracias a la chica de Argentyina y al chico de España por hacer de nuestra estadía una mejor.

Staff were great. They helped alot , very friendly and polite. But we travelled with a toddler, in a stroller, was given the tiniest room, which when they eventually gave us a travel cot , it literally took up all the apare room we had. So we collapsed it and let the baby sleep with us. To get to the actual reception we had to go up and down steps (not accessible for our needs at all. But we atayed in the annexe, which was not even close to the main hotel. It was up the road, even less accessible, the stroller couldnt fit through the door!!!
The room had a/c which was nice but the unit that run it was directly outside the bathroom window which meant it was loud and could be heard when it was being used.

My boyfriend and I stayed two nights at Hotel Regina Giovanna while in Rome and we loved it! The room was small but it had plenty of space for two people. It had a safe, a mini fridge and the bed was very comfortable. The air conditioner worked very well and felt amazing after a day of walking around in the hot Italian sun. The hotel is close enough to the train station that we walked with our bags and was also a walkable distance to all of the main attractions in Rome. It was easy to get from the airport by express train and then the quick walk to the hotel and there were many wonderful bars and restaurants all around. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome and would definitely return. Things to note: the double bed is two smaller mattresses pushed together which didn’t bother us at all but might be good to know and the room doesn’t have any dishes or glasses.

The location is perfect for when you’re visiting Rome. You are 3 blocks from Republicca station for the metro and you could easily walk to Termini station which is what we had to do with our bags when we left because the metro isn’t open all the time so it is very conveniently located With shops and eateries nearby and most buses end up there. The room itself is clean but very very minimalist. The AC « works » but is super low even on super powerful which meant we slept over the sheets. I did not bother commenting to the staff as they were always busy watching movies or sleeping when we would go in to see them. Know that the services of this hotel should be considered more a room for rent rather than a hotel. It’s cheap, it’s clean they provide you with a hairdryer and soaps, there is plenty of toilet paper, a fridge ( that was difficult to open but we asked downstairs and they opened it for us), although it did not keep anything cold. They have a tv and the door locks. You can hear the outside of the hallways but not your neighbour. You can hear the outside with the windows closed. Overall it is a 2 star, rooms for rent. It’s very basic.

This is 4-5 rooms apartment hotel on 1st floor of the building. Though rooms were clean and could be used by travellers just looking to sleepover for 1 or 2 nights.
Will not recommend for families or someone travelling with heavy baggage as you will need pick up ur baggage to level 1 and back down which was terrible. Twice was water clogging on bathroom. So comfortable bed but overall very average.

We booked a triple room but got a double with a broken rollaway bed. They moved us in a regular triple room immediately after we complained. The staff was extremely polite and helpful.
Interesting fact, the rooms are located in 2 different buildings which are shared by couple different hotels. Confusing at first but apparently normal for hotels in old buildings.

It was in a great location for the price. It was only about a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum and about 15 minutes to the Roman Forum. I was in a safe neighborhood with some good restaurants around. However, the air conditioning did not work very well and it was extremely warm in the room. The staff was not very friendly or helpful and were content to just sit at the desk and watch videos rather than helping.

Fair for the price. Good location close to the train station. I arrived at 9pm and had to wait quite a while to be served. It turned out the receptionist was praying in the room next door, even though he could hear me coughing for quite a while (15 mins) when I swallowed something the wrong way and could hardly breathe. I know God always comes first but work is work and customer service brings business success.
I asked if the room was safe as I’d heard some horror stories about people being robbed without hotel reception present. Rather than smile and comforting me in a positive and friendly way, he belittled me by saying ‘that is the first time anyone has asked him that’.
I was given a building up the street. He gave clear instructions on how to get there and access the building and room. I felt a little rejected when other customers were guided to their hotel rooms. I guess I was grateful to have the ability to find it myself though after 3 days of exhaustion and jet lag to get there. It might have been that it was late at night or it could be I had the wrong skin colour, but I would have appreciated a little more friendliness with the check-in process. Us tourists travel and pay a lot of money to visit your country, town and hotel and a smile and kindness goes along way.
I did phone and ask for the room NOT to be serviced (I didn’t want anyone in the room). But they did not listen or did not understand. It was nice having the room cleaned, it worked out ok.

I usually don’t write reviews but this one I felt had to be written. As we reached the hotel elevator was not working and we had to lug our heavy luggage upstairs. At the check-in we were told the room is in not in the same building and we have to carry heavy luggage down again. Room was in the building that was located one block and one first floor and again without elevator. Check out day the clerk was very unfriendly and curt.

Nice accommodation, but mold everywhere

The actual stay is located in a different building than what is given. Their location on the map is just for check in, which I found a little strange. Room and bathroom were not what was prescribed in the picture of our room- small but cozy. Also had mold all over the fixtures, mirrors, and decor in our room.

Get what you pay for

When I checked in they took me to the sister hotel I wasn't aware of just a block up the road. Get what you pay for, don't expect the ritz but it's a good location and room was left clean when the maid came. Comfy bed. Would probably spend an extra 20 and get somewhere with a more accessible reception and bit of luxury. You're in Rome after all

Hay un gran problema de supervision en el hotel. Solamente hay un empleado, al hacer el check in esperamos al empleado 20 que había ido a otro piso, al día siguiente esperamos desde las 7:10 hasta las 8:15 hasta que llegue el empleado que fue muy descortés, su respuesta fue que era un problema de hotel que faltaba gente. En toda la estancia de 4 noches solamente hicieron la habitación una vez, el baño huele fatal, se inunda y hace falta mucha limpieza, el suelo lleva siglos sin ser lavado, los vidrios están tan sucios que no se ve. En el pasillo están los enseres, la aspiradora, los espejos sucios, muy feo aspecto y desordenado. Al hacer el check out por la mañana el mismo empleado ni se molestó en atendernos estaba hablando por el móvil, recostado hacia atrás en la silla, luego de varios minutos de espera, con un gesto nos dijo que nos fuéramos. Impresentable.

Hotel was in a great location, safe. There were 4 security checkpoints to get through which made it a bit tedious after a while. No amenities if this is important to you.
