The room was clean and very quaint! The owners were very nice and gave interesting insight into the wine making process in the valley. They made us feel right at home, and even gave us a few pieces of amazing fruit they had picked that day! The tasting they offer is a must-try; they’re doing things with wine nobody else is, and it works! The hot pools are also a fantastic way to relax after a long hike! The glass room in the olive grove feels like a portal directly to the Tuscan countryside!

I suggest checking the accommodation website directly prior to booking. Things I was not made aware of when booking through Expedia are that the grape vines have been removed (all except two rows) and use of the hot pools are open to the public and at an additional expense.

Jan and Graeme were great hosts. Unfortunately, we missed the wine tasting on the first night, however were pleasantly surprised when we attended our second night. Great discussions and selection of wines. The room was very cosy and secure with everything we needed and the BBQ was great for what we needed. Indulged in a spa on site and again were impressed by the property. Would definitely go back.

It was fabulous - extremely well equipped kitchen, private, quiet. The cottage had many extras that you usually do not find in a rental property. The town of Cromwell is not that interesting, but if you have value for your money, this is a great place. Truly deluxe, with wine tastings each night, a great hot tub/spa, and very relaxing atmosphere. 30-40 minutes to Wanaka and the mountains.

This is a gorgeous place to stay. The view over the vineyards to the mountains is beautiful, the owners are really friendly, the wine is good, and you’re close to amazing places to eat. The room was lovely, well fitted out with everything you might need. Breakfast was a really nice touch, with local fruit juices and preserves.
There are other wineries, and the rest of Central just a short walk or drive away. I can’t speak highly enough of River Rock Estate. Such a lovely weekend.

Wonderfully equipped and comfortable room. It was easy to access the 4 Barrel Walking tour and sample the local wines. The kitchen and BBQ were meticulous and it was terrific to cook our own dinner and enjoy it with the wonderful River Rock sauvignon blanc from grape vines growing right outside our room! Perfect place to stay.

A really lovely stay. Our room had everything we needed and was a little oasis amongst the vines. Everything was really well organised and simple, breakfast was really tasty and the location was perfect to visit the Otago wineries and also walk into Cromwell. Would definitely stay again.

This is a fabulous place to stay. The guesthouse is really comfortable and private with everything you need provided - including delicious goods left in your room for breakfast. What a treat to have your own BBQ in a vineyard too - accompanied by a bottle or two of excellent wine from the estate. The wine tasting experience was really personal and enjoyable and we thoroughly enjoyed the company of our hosts. The swimming pool is also a bonus. We will most definitely be back and next time for a lot longer than 2 days. An outstanding stay of our 5 week NZ trip. Thank you.

Hosts were very nice and gracious when we arrived very late in the evening; were invited to an afternoon of wine tasting; received plenty for breakfast every day with a nice variety; rooms/cabins were clean, spacious and nicely decorated in the middle of the vineyard. Just a bit noisy when big trucks go down the road but only happens once in a blue moon.

Gorgeous B&B accommodation in the heart of Cromwell, within walking distance to local shops, supermarket, restaurants and easy to access the local walking winery tour too, so no real need to use the car during your stay! The units are well appointed and have everything you need for a comfortable stay alongside some thoughtful touches like make-up wipes in the bathrooms and the best juice ever in the fridge. The owners really make the stay at River Rock, they are lovely and long-time locals and are a wealth of knowledge of the region. The spa house onsite is also well worth doing!! Will be recommending to all we know planning to visit Central Otago.

You can do as much as like or just relax, unwind with one of their wonderful wines. Hosts welcome you daily with wine tasting, cellar sales. Or if you are more action orientated , only a short drive to all the exciting tourist attractions the area has to offer. Will be going back real soon.

How often do you get a chance to sleep in a vineyard? This was such a nice treat to enjoy a room (feels like a cabin) surrounded by grape vines. Everything was spotless clean, comfortable bed and very quiet. Included is large selection of breakfast items. Hotel stays are quickly forgotten but this is a memory you'll fondly look back on as a great addition to your trip.
