Step out of franchise and discover a 1910 brick built structure that has all the charm and details of an Abbeville historical treasure. The clean room included a quilt covered bed that was comfortable, and the room included refrigerator and microwave.
The best part was continental breakfast on a lovely veranda. The site is its original center of downtown, so don’t expect gardens…but I was sad to leave the over-stuffed wicker chair and resume my trip home.

Beautiful structure that needs better maintaining. Hear next door guests conversations. No water in morning coffee/ toast area. Last morning stay had no plates, spoons etc. Donna is an excellent and most helpful employee. Recommend they invest in the cleaning service doing a deep clean in corners of floors, walls etc. great location.

This hotel was built in 1903 and has antiques and multiple levels. The parking lot is in the back and has a ramp with no stairs to the check in. There is an elevator to go up to the next two floors but there are stairs from the elevator to the first level. There is a nice outdoor seating area in the front of the building and it is right in the downtown area and there are restaurants within walking distance. There is a basic continental breakfast. It was very quiet while I was there.

Look, historic inn does not mean charming. In this case it was overdecorated, old and musty, mildewed bathtub, unable to control the temperature in individual rooms, not 24 hour staff to consult and a non attended supposedly continental breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The small town vibe of Abbeville is one of our favorites in South Carolina. Walk out the door and begin a historic walk featuring over 25 properties in the immediate vicinity dating back pre-Civil War. Don't miss this town and no better place to spend the night than The Belmont!

My sheet was stained no fridge no phone and no microwave. Only a tiny ceramic heater and a window air conditioner. The tub had what looked to be black mold. There were multiple extension chords everywhere. The hair dryer looked like it was about to fall apart. Please go check out room 16. It was also not the room I booked! I’m not sure why their rating is so high. Do they pay for that??? I have NEVER seen a room this bad. I stayed the first night because of the non-refundable but forfeited my 2nd night. Just couldn’t stay there another night. I suggest hotels.com might want to do their own surprise visit. I will be escalating this to try and recoup some of my money. $200 a night???? I would have been better in a roadside travel inn. The Fairfield inn in greenwood was less and beautiful and CLEAN!

It was a very historic hotel the Ground floor is the first 2nd floor was The first Floor and the last was 2nd floor which was the 3rd floor. For the overnight guests the continental breakfast is do your own thing but not a major thing except coffee and bread products and fruit . The desperately need to hire a cook here

The photos are the highlight of this property. When we arrived, we were stunned at the condition of the property. There is water damage all throughout the property, including the rooms.
The property was not well lit at all and difficult to find, add that to the fact that when we walked in there was pretty much nobody around.
They said that the morning continental breakfast would be ready at 7 AM. We were downstairs by 7:15 and everything was still completely shut down with lights off. This was what in my family we call “and experience“

It was tough to get past the smell of the elevator and the room. Our comforter had a big hole in it although appeared to be clean. There were many things that were in poor condition and could be replaced including the hair dryer, tiles missing in shower etc. The town seems to be struggling bff a bit and several of the food establishments closing or reducing their services. Would be better off staying in one of the bigger towns nearby.

The Inn is charming and the history of it is so captivating. Those who want spotless and sterile hotel rooms will find it less than ideal, because this place is an authentic step back in time -- original wood floors, antique chifferobes, etc. The 25 rooms are each uniquel, and the Inn itself gives the air that you have stepped back as in the movie "Somewhere in Time." My traveling companion and I found it delightful.

When we walked into our room, there was a dead cockroach on the floor beside our bed. The A/C unit hadn’t been turned on yet either so it was super hot, however he made us aware of this when we arrived and we just turned it on once we got to our room. The bathroom didn’t look super clean, but was clean enough. On the other hand, the beds were super comfortable and the A/C unit cooled the room down pretty quickly to make it comfortable. Overall, probably wouldn’t stay here again unless we absolutely had to.

So, I want to give the management a little bit of grace. The current state that the Belmont is in, is the worst I've ever seen it. However, I've come to know that the ownership has changed. They were very kind and I hope they can turn this place around.

We last stayed here about 8-9 years ago and since then, I've seen major degradation. The room was stayed in had loads wrong with it. The heater was small but finally heated the room after a few hours. The bathroom had mold, the sink was clogged, and the toilet seat was run down from wear. The paint on the ceiling and walls needed a new coat but you can see there has been some ceiling repairs.

Fire code wise, I don't think you can have the power strips like they had it. The furniture needs replacement or restoration badly. It's cool to be in such a historic place with vintage furniture, but they need to be repaired.

It was nice to have the bar downstairs. They have continental breakfast but that could be improved.

We were in room #5 so I would avoid that room until you're told it's been completely renovated it.

I don't mean to be negative but it was pretty bad. We stayed anyways because we felt we could bare it because it was only for our night stays as we visited with family. Elevator DID work, needs some renovation too.

Overall, I hope they can turn this around... I would give it a 4/10. Not a ton of options in Abbeville anyways.

I stayed there to keep from having to travel along distance after playing the organ at two churches in the area for services. It was everything I needed. The customer service could not have been any better. They were very nice and met all of my needs. I plan to stay there again for longer so that I can enjoy some of the other amenities that they have.

This historical property has lots of potential to become something excellent, it does have a ways to go. Our room was very spacious, and it was nice. The Grill had limited dinner choices, luckily my husband and I we happy with what they offered which turned out to be a great dinner for us. I would stay here again.

Convenient Location but...

I am handicapped and my wife and I are in our 70s. There was no handicapped parking. so we had to walk from the parking lot next door up the stairs between in the rain. The small room was on the 3rd floor (they called it the 2nd, with check-in being the ground floor) The elevator was working when we checked in but in the morning it wasn't and we had to walk down two flights of very steep stairs, bringing our luggage clinging to the banister the whole way. There was only one chair in the room, an armchair in the corner useless for much of anything. Light came from a table lamp and a floor lamp with 40 watt bulbs. There was no desk area and no clock. There was a pod type coffee maker but no pods, creamer or sugar and only one paper coffee cup with only one plastic glass in the bathroom. The 32 inch TV sat about two feet from the end of the bed. There was no counter space in the bathroom and the "refrigerator" was nothing but a small commercial drink cooler with a dirty top.

Any problems we brought up were simply met with "Sorry".

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Belmont. My husband and I were visiting Abbeville for a funeral on Saturday, Nov 23. The Belmont was a recommendation of my girlfriend. I didn’t get to the room until 11:30 that night. I went to take a shower and discovered a disgusting shower with mold & mildew. I couldn’t even take a proper
shower because the tub was clogged, and my feet were covered with water. I was too tired to complain. When I checked out, there was no one at the front desk to complain to. Just a box to put the key in. Room #23 This hotel is in need of improvements and repairs. I do not recommend and will never stay again.

We were told the day we booked from their front desk that this place had electricity and WiFi shortly before arriving to get there and full property blacked out and doors barricaded - could not get service or refund or entry - complete scam/ we are hurricane evacuees and cannot afford this level of theft. This was Sunday, hurricane came early Friday morning previously. We demand apology and refund / please be safe out there, avoid climate scammers!

Built over 100 years ago, the Inn felt like we were stepping back in time. Modern conveniences of WiFi and TVs worked well. Quiet, clean room with a very comfortable bed. Continental breakfast included and the coffee was great. We sat on the porch in the evening and relaxed by a fire pit - the whole experience was charming and relaxing. Cost was reasonable too.

We love the hotel, decor and staff. The room we were in was # 8. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the bathroom had mold in the tub and celing above the bathtub. When taking a shower, the water did not drain out so we stood in ankle deep water. We could hear every step the person above us took, which was a lot. The lighting was very dim throughout the hotel. The breakfast was good, the staff was extremely nice. we would not stay there again unless the beds were updated, repairs done and if we were on the top floor so we couldn't hear the people above. The hotel is old, and that is part of the charm, which we liked, but needs updated rooms and bathroom.

The room given to us was nothing like the room pictured on their website. Window air conditioner was so loud you could not hear the tv at all when it was running. The volume control on the tv did not work (? Intentionally) so tv watching was a bust.

It was wonderful. The only thing I did not like is there was no iron, coffee pot or small fridge in the room. Coffee was served in morning with breakfast and was very good but i am an early riser and they did not serve till 7. So without fridge or coffee pot in the room i had to wait. Otherwise this place is amazing, beautiful and the restaurant and bar downstairs had fantastic food and bar for evening.

This is our second time staying here in 3 weeks. We stayed on our way up to Ohio and stayed on our way back. We love the coziness and turn of the century charm this hotel has to offer. Very clean, comfy beds, a basic hotel room. I recommend maybe an updating of the bathroom ie. bathtub, toilet, and hair dryer. Other than that, I would stay here again if we’re ever in the area.

The Belmont is a hotel over 100 yrs old. It is rich in history and antiques. However, its age makes it susceptible to drafty winds (cold bedrooms) and poor maintenance. Much of the hotel needs some TLC from a handyman and clean or new carpeting. Our bed was uncomfortable, too. I felt the experience did not meet the high price tag. Overall, ok, but we won’t stay there again.

This well-maintained historic Inn is located on the edge of the town square. The staff were friendly and helpful. Upon check-in, I enjoyed sipping my complimentary drink on the veranda, overlooking the well-lit and festively decorated downtown area at sunset. I then enjoyed walking the square and checking out one of the many local restaurants. Although I chose a standard basic room, there are a variety of room options for just a few dollars more. I also enjoyed my morning simple buffet-style breakfast in the hotel before heading out for the day.
