The musty smell in the bedroom was almost overwhelming. I was able to open a window to let in fresh air. The only way in could turn off the ac unit was by pulling the plug. The flap to adjust the ac controls was broken. Luckily the night was cool and I was able to leave the window open to reduce the musty smell. The smoke detector looked damaged. The fire door in the corridor was permanently propped open, probably to reduce the musty smell. The carpet on the stairs was torn and definitely a trip hazard.
The shower area was clean and the shower was easy to use. The housekeeping was sloppy in places. Dusty baseboards, office chair and the wall light fixtures must have been wiped down with the same cleaner as the tv screen as there was a lot of residue on both. A real shame. The location is good, but the owner needs to spend some money on sprucing up the place.

This place wasn't bad for a one night stay, we did find cockroaches the next morning and dead bedbugs. There was no one at the front desk when I got there around 8:30pm. There was only 1 tiny trash can inside the room. It wasn't horrible but not the best either. Customer service could have been a little bit better. Nick the night manager was nice.

The hallway to our room smells like wet dogs. Room wasn't very clean, ripped everything off the bed checking for bed bugs, mattress cover had huge nasty stains on it, sheets seemed to be clean, but didnt trust it, found a bug the next morning on the bed, could've been a bed bug. So many reviews about beg bugs, I wouldn't stay here again.

This place was a real gem! Upon checking in I had 4 different people (some who may not have even worked there) helping us get our room key. Once in our room, we were delighted to find clean sheets, extra lights in the bathroom, and NO cameras. We were just a day too early for the grand pool reopening, so maybe next time we're in town we'll come for a swim! I think some people like this motel so much that they've extended their stays for quite awhile. Checkout was a breeze, with a big group wishing us safe travels. Overall an 11/10 stars!

Room was very clean. The office was never open and had to call to get signed in. My registration was being handed a key in the parking lot and given a room number. The remote in the room did not have batteries. Purchased my own. I was finally able to get the remote to work to change channels, but not the volume. Parking was easy and lot well lit. Ice machine did not function.

The front desk office was locked. Temperatures were near freezing. After calling to notify them I was there to checkin, i still had to wait 10 mins in the cold. When I finally got to my room, it smelled horrible. The lighting in the room was subpar. There was nowhere to hang my clothes. My friends I was visiting refused to let me stay there. I stayed at the hotel for maximum 2 hours to shower and change. It was a storage room for my belongings.

I’m sorry but we high tailed it out of there. It smelled like mold and mildew. There was no secondary lock on the door. There was a gap between the door and the door jamb. The beds were so low to the ground that I’m not sure I could have gotten in and out of them. VERY dated and just sketchy. Did not feel safe at all so we left and stayed at a hojo down the street. I feel bad saying it but it was just bad. I’m sorry.😞

Thought I was getting a good deal at 58.00 for the night. However my experience was totally not worth the price. I found 2 water bugs scurrying around the sink and toilet. The floors were dirty as well as the bathtub. The bed was supposed to be a queen but was more like a full. With a very squeaky frame and pretty uncomfortable. There was no heat or air working in the room. So I basically spent that money on a shower and watched a little TV. I left approximately 3 hours of being there. Very disappointed. I stayed there once before and had no complaints.

Unsafe, Uninhabitable Room–Forced to Leave w/ Kids

After a 4+ hr drive, I arrived with my 3 children to find a room in horrific, unsafe condition. My kids were so scared they refused to enter and waited in the car while I sought help. Staff were dismissive, and even a housekeeper admitted the room had known issues but management still rented it.

No safe alternative was offered. I was left late at night to find another hotel, canceling our planned Chocolate World visit and distressing my children. This was unsafe, traumatic, and unacceptable. Hotels.com should not list this property.

I didn't take advantage but I think I should have. Proximity to Hershey Park was the other dancing Grace but spend a few bucks more and go elsewhere, there's plenty of options.

Smelled like smoke in the room only to find out on check out day that two women cleaning were actively smoking cigarettes in the rooms they were trying to clean. Those women aggressively knocked on our door and told us check out was at 11:00 well before we had to be out and we’re talking insanely loud outside all morning. Parking was terrible and once the normal spots got taken up you are stuck with unsafe parking on a slant up against a fence. The bathroom was clearly full of mold and the paint on all the walls and ceiling were bubbling up underneath from all the water and mold collecting underneath it. Would never recommend this Inn to anyone. I understand we got a cheap place because we needed to save money so we shouldn’t have expected much but we both left the facility sick. It took about 48 hours for us to be healthy again after breathing in so much mold and smoke.

Walls, ceiling tiles, cabinetry could use work. For instance the handle to the fridge was a piece of wood frame.

Pros: Excellent price, clean room, friendly staff and close to many things in Hershey.

Overall: I didn’t pay for a luxury suit and I didn’t get one. I paid a minimal price and got a bed, tv, microwave, toilet and shower that worked well. It saved me a trip home from a late night show where I was drinking. I would go again.

The door was not properly fitted in its frame. Anyone strong enough could easily break in. The bedding had stains, the shower was too disgusting to use (some sort of peeling tape?). Whole room stunk like cigarette smoke. “Breakfast” was some store bought bagels and English muffins in the lobby. Toilet seat was chipped. If the room was $50 I would accept, but it was nearly $200, definitely not worth it.

When checking in, I was told that Expedia had canceled our reservation, but I had not received any communication to that effect. Property was a bit run down, but for an inexpensive place to lay your head for the night it was ok. The mattress was firm, but no blankets. Surprisingly, the pillows were good. The room air conditioner leaked and the carpet was wet. There was a kitchenette in the room with a stove, mini fridge and microwave. Curiously, there were no wastebaskets in the room, and there wasn't room for one in the bathroom. The pool was closed; I don't think it had even been opened. They had coffee and donuts for breakfast.

They asked me to write my credit card info on the back of a piece of paper so they could take a $50 deposit because “a lot people hiding from the police stay here” and “the police came and tased two people here last night.” When I said I did not feel safe staying there they said they would not charge my card and I could coordinate a refund through Expedia however they haven’t responded to Expedia and I have not yet been issued my refund even though I didn’t end up staying there for safety reasons. Extremely frustrating experience. do NOT stay here!!!

I book queen beds. The room had full beds. I book the room for 3 adults and 1 child. I received 2 towels and 2 washcloths. That was it. I called a day ahead to let them know I would be late checking in at around midnight not to give my room away. I was told to come early to get keys. Then I got yelled at for stopping in early to get the keys. Horrible place to stay

No worker was in office for check-in, had to call number on door. Worker came out of an upstairs room where he clearly lives.
Very odd activity going on- people in and out of rooms.
This was all observed in the 15 minutes I was there to check-in, look at the room, put key card back in key slot and leave.
Next day. When call was placed to office to notify them they said they would refund me 50%.
For real. You are running a half way house pretending to be a hotel.
I forgot to mention the prostitute activity.

I was yelled at by the property manager because the owner was unsatisfied with the rate i recieved on your website. They were angry because I paid less than what they thought i should have. That being said, i should have paid even less than what i did!! They were so irritated with me that when i stayed the second night, they moved me into a smaller room that looked like it wasnt properly cleaned in quite some time. Never again will i stay there. We will be packing up and leaving in the morning.

I had to call someone to come to the office to check in. The wifi password provided didn't work so we had little cell phone service while there. (I'm a real estate agent so cell service and wifi are important where ever I go.) Overall, the rooms were average. Lighting was poor and the water coming from the faucet smelled funny. Office door was always locked because nobody was on duty. Website advertised breakfast, which was not provided. The mattresses were NOT covered with a bedbug cover. The hard floors and modern furniture were nice, along with the in-room mini fridge. Cheap rates are nice but you get what you pay for.

Customer service was good. However, that is the only positive about this place. This \" hotel\" and I use the word hotel very loosely, is DESPERATELY in need of major upgrades. The door to the bathroom was so old, they only provided one little half roll of toilet tissue( mind you, its three people in the room) and you had to keep calling to get more. Needed more towels and the room service feature was non existent. I booked a non smoking room but it definitely smelled of cigarette smoke ( very old cigarette smoke). Had a very unpleasant odor.
The lobby was dirty and old, the mattress had horrible yellow old stains on it( i dont even want to think what it could be). The complimentary breakfast was a joke, they only had cereal and coffee. Overall, i would not stay here again nor would I recommend this to anyone. Spend a little more for your stay and go somewhere a little bit nicer.

When you arrive you can't get into the office. Someone yells out a window from an upper floor to ask if you are checking in. The 2 rooms we reserved weren't near each other and appearance was totally different. One looked like they tried to remodel and the other is in need of a lot of repair. We were glad we had not reserved for more than one night. Will not go there again.

Not the best I've stayed at but not the worst

When we arrived to check-in, the door to the office was locked, but the staff member, who was in a room upstairs, must have overheard my husband and I talking and he asked us if we were checking in and quickly came downstairs to give us the room key. He was very friendly and courteous. When we first arrived to our room we noticed the disgusting cigarette smell even though our room was supposed to be a non-smoking room. The smell was unpleasant but not super heavy so I decided to overlook that. My husband was about to put our luggage down on a table when we saw a roach quickly run off from the table. I didnt let him set the luggage down anywhere and said we are not leaving our luggage in this room overnight. I refused to run the risk of taking any roach back to our home. We quickly changed into PJs and took the luggage back into our car for the rest of the night. In the morning we took our clothes out from the car and after shaking our PJs, placed in a plastic bag to then be laundered. I showered as soon as I got home to rid my hair of the cigarette smell from the room. The bed was comfortable and the heater in the room worked well. I didn't notice any stains on the bed and no bed bugs. This place is okay for one night, but certainly not for an extended trip. It served its purpose of providing a cheap place to sleep in for 1 night and it's very close to hersheypark which was the main reason for our trip. The place definitely needs renovations. We didn't stay for breakfast.

The doors do not properly seal. So it was continuously cold in the room. The beds were like bricks. The fan in the bathrrom was so loud you couldnt turn on the light when usung the bathroom. Nothing close for convience. Had to go into town or past it for food or even a quick convience store. It ok for a cheap hotel and maybe a 1 night stay but i wouldnt recomend staying longer.

Very funky place. Room smelled strange, we burned candles the entire time. There was an eerie downstairs/basement connected to our room with the light on, we locked that door. There was a back patio with old flooring and several 10+ old air conditioning units. We could not use the patio area. There were old signs and garbage everywhere. It looks like this place has changed hands and names several times and has not been kept up. It seems like people are living in this hotel, coming and going at all hours of the day and night. Wifi and TV did not work well, I had to use my own hotspot and my own roku. You're situated kind of far from attractions and restaurants in Hershey.

I arrived to find the office locked and had to call number which connected to owner because their bell wasn't working.He and I got well acquainted because the key I was given didn't work and I had to call back and the next morning shower wasn't working. The important part was he responded immediately to get the issues taken care of for me.I was their because it is cheap. It is older but clean. Small pool available didn't see anyone use it.Lot's of families there but it was quiet after 10pm. Animal friendly. They have a fee and must be in crate if you are out of room.My only concern was no one ever available in the office even during the day.

We booked a non-smoking room for 2 nights but left after the first night and booked another hotel elsewhere at our cost. The room stank of cigarettes and all the owner did to try and resolve it was use some Lysol spray as air freshener and left us the van in case we needed more. He had no other room available to transfer us to so we had no choice but to stay in that room. The rooms are small and the smell of the cigarettes was in the air conditioning and as an asthmatic I could hardly breath or sleep. We packed up in the morning and left. He did mention they fine the previous person $100.00 if they smoke in a room but what about the poor people that book that room afterwards? A can of spray doesn’t fix the problem. If you are a non smoker I would definitely not recommend. Also the bathroom was very old and had dirty marks or stains on the bathtub. The stay was also supposed to include breakfast but when we went to have breakfast at 8.30am there was a sign on the store saying breakfast was closed. He said on check in he had been short staffed but that doesn’t excuse not providing what was paid for.

This was the worst experience ever. I wish I could get a refund. The room has a horrible cigarette/ old paint smell. Pictures are nothing like the room. The beds are not even queen size beds like they advertise. When I went to ask for a queen size room like I had booked the receptionist was very rude; she kept saying its correct. The beds were a standard full size instead. I do not recommend this place at all.

It was convenient to stay in if going to Hershey Park. Check-in was easy & staff were friendly. The parking is very limited & the hotel really needs to be remodeled, as it is very dirty & outdated.

We could not get the wi-fi to work. We called for help but did not get any help. The tv would not connect to the network so we couldn’t use the tv. No one was at the desk when we tried to get help. Thankful we were only there for one night.

The most disgustingly place.

This was one of the worst places I have stayed. There were bugs flying in the lights and dead cockroaches smashed into the walls. I did not even stay the night. When I went to tell the management I was not staying, they did not care. The manager looked at me and said \"I only work here, call the owner\".

The room and pictures from hotel did not align. Peeling paint, stained carpet, huge gap between door and door frame. Morning breakfast was frozen pancakes and large box of cereal. Hotel staff was kind and put me and 11 year old daughter on second floor. Pool was scary looking.

Went there because the hotel had a pool, but it was closed(has not been open for the summer). We were in the back of hotel and wifi did not reach, & our cell service was spotty. We did have tv and cable box But because the Wi-Fi don’t reach back there the TV was not hooked up.

Online pics are no where close.. rooms were horrible . They have roaches. No pool access. The checkin lady was very rude like we were a inconvenience. Absolutely worst place I've ever stayed at. Only good thing was the ac worked. Do not waste your money.. and risk taking bugs home with you... No ice machine. No wifi. Cable didn't work. Phone internets don't work in room and can't connect to their wifi... Booked a room for 3. Ppl and only 2 towels and washcloths.. needed first floor hotel due to being handicapped and can't do stairs and she gave me a upstairs room and then got super rude when I told her and showed her I needed and requested a first floor room.. very terrible experience

I pulled in the lot and i was mortified at the sight of the run down hotel.it should be shut down by the board of health.the pool was even worse looked like a swamp with black fungus..rooms smelled like pee.i entered the room took a look around and left..oh also room door didnt even lock.
Dont ever stay there at the sunrise inn in hershey.pa.

It started off bad, and stayed that way. It was 92 degrees and the air conditioner wasn’t working. There were roach traps sitting outside of my 1st room. Inside the room smelt like a farm. It took 2 hours for them to give me another room. The second room was a nice size, and the air conditioning worked, but the bedding was so filthy I just gave up, went to Walmart and bought cleaning supplies, sleeping bags for my kids and new sheets. Still trying to get a refund
