The room was clean. WiFi was excellent for work, I was able to work in my room at the desk. I appreciated being on the 3rd floor because of the windows. The work area was on the first floor but it felt dark in there. Otherwise I would definitely stay there again knowing the WiFi is reliable. Bummed that there was no laundry service, but I waked to a laundry place that did a great job.

San Miguel de Allende is a truly beautiful place, and this hotel is perfectly located in the heart of it all. Not only is it historic, but it also has a charming, eclectic character that makes it feel special. I was a bit hesitant at first about where the room was located, but it actually turned out to be very convenient. The staff is wonderful—kind, attentive, and welcoming. I would absolutely love to come back here.

At first, I was thrilled with this boutique hotel because it looked clean in the pictures and was very close to downtown. They also allowed us to check in early, which I appreciated.

However, once I got inside, I was disappointed. The bed was very low, the room was too dark, and the pillows had a foul smell that made it seem like they hadn’t been changed. The shower drain in the bathroom was clogged and drained very slowly.

The biggest disappointment happened when I lost my keys and looked under the bed—there was inches of dust built up underneath. Although they replaced the lost key without charging me, they did nothing about my repeated requests to have the area under the bed cleaned. I spoke to them multiple times, but no action was taken.

The room was very noisy, it was next to a bar that closed at 1-2am. I also told the attendant that the water for the shower wasn’t heating up and her solution was to turn on the faucet and shower at the same time. It sort of worked but it meant that I had to have the water running for 20-30min before I could get in.

The room was absolutely wonderful. A bit loud at night but that is ok. The restaurant on the rooftop was majestic, although a bit pricey even for San Miguel’s standards.

The one thing that I would say was weird was the following. I arrived to the hotel early after an overnight flight and the person at the front desk told me they had the room ready but would only allow me to check in early if I gave them a 5 stars review on Google. And she stood there until I did. I understand that they want to increase their ratings but that felt a bit coercive. It may also be just that one employee who misunderstood the manager’s orders.

I was greeted amiably when I first arrived. This is a good thing since I arrived later in the evening after a long journey to Mexico. The staff member seemed to understand that I was tired and she showed me to my room and showed me how the key worked.

During my stay, the woman who cleaned my room was very personable. She would see me outside of my room, sitting in the sun, and would always ask if it were convenient to clean my room at that time. She was quick but efficient. I loved the bed with its numerous sheets. I never felt cold.

I enjoyed the presence of the cat and dog who added charm to the facility.

On leaving day, the staff not only helped me arrange for a private taxi to the airport, they also helped me move my luggage to the waiting taxi.

On top of all of this, the hotel is a short walk to the jardin principal. Bonus!

The reasons I did not shade in a 5th star: (1) the shower had no pressure and the water was not very hot; and (2) the room let in a lot of noise in the evening from people partying. I usually sleep well through noise but the staff might take note of this in case they have some guests who sleep lightly.

The hotel was located in a great area! Super close to everything in el Centro de San Miguel de Allende. Staff was nice and held our luggage and even let us check in early. The room was average nothing fancy standard room. This hotel does not have AC, nor room service, nor complimentary breakfast, nor common areas/amenities for guest to enjoy. So that was kind of the downside to things, but there is a bar located inside and a roof top restaurant both convenient on rainy days.

This is the first time visiting Selena hotel and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was spacious and had a comfortable bed. I would definitely recommend this hotel since it’s right next to many points of interest in San Miguel de Allende. I would like to mention that Janette in reception was exceptionally attentive, friendly, and easy to communicate with.

I'm glad I chose this hotel. The people there were SO NICE. They went out of their way to help you. And luckily the people at the front desk also spoke English.
The room was nice and cool. (It was warm outside - 73° - in July, but maybe it's my jeans.)
The double room is a nice size, with a very high ceiling - heat rises. The bed is great.
If you need a hairdryer, ask at the desk ahead of time.
And, of course, i used the wifi.
For you young ones, the weekend is a hsppening time.
The locstion is perfect- across from the tallest building, so you can't get too lost.
The breakfast is copious.

There was no ac and was rather warm during the night since the only window opened to the hallway. Recommend if you can request a better room than what we had.

The front desk staff seems absolutely miserable and annoyed if you ask for the bathroom key or a 2nd room key. The room was fantastic and the location is excellent. However the hot water takes 6-15 minutes to get hot and all of our attempts to cover the shower drain due to horrible smells were unsuccessful. And again, the front desk staff is really terrible. I hate even having to write that! We also had to flush our toilet 15+ times to clear it so we just went up to the rooftop bar bathrooms to go. Those toilets seem to work fine and we were not putting paper in the toilets.

Lovely looking hotel, the bed was comfy but there were issues with the smell in our bathroom, the toilet wouldn’t flush properly and there was no hot water for a shower in the morning. We complained at the desk, and all the receptionist could say was sorry, we asked if we could get a late check out as we’d had so much trouble with the shower (my 81 year old grandmother had to shower cold) we were told to pay an extra 500 pesos. We complained more about the service and told we would have been offered breakfast if we didn’t already say we were going out, but I think that was a lie.
The hotel looks amazing but the poor facilities and staff have let it down.

I attempted to cancel the booking they confirmed could be canceled but never did. Here I am back from my trip, on the phone with my back attempting to get reimbursed for the money I was charged. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of anyone at this hotel. They have a phone that goes to voicemail and eventually the voicemail was full. I left several voicemails and never heard back from them. We communicated through the chat on the Expedia app which I luckily have screenshots of. If you book and want to cancel be ready to get ignored.

The room was spacious and bed comfortable but the bathroom needed a bit of repair. Shower was pretty bad. View from ground floor room was also bad, but the rooms on higher floors had good views. Be aware that it has steep steps and no lift if you have large bags. Our room wasn’t serviced over the 3 nights. Generally service was average. The main plus of this hotel is location. Right in the heart of town (again, if you have large bags be aware you have to walk a short distance as cars cannot drive up to the hotel).

We had a great stay at Selina. It’s an older property right in the heart of historic down town next to the main church the Parroquia and El Jardín ( Central Park). It’s not fancy, but we had everything we needed. There are some negative reviews here, but our stay was very pleasant. The room was a good size, clean, with a high ceiling, a cute little balcony facing the cathedral, large closet, desk, and a fan. The bed was comfy, housekeeping was on point, we always had fresh, clean linens, towels, and bottled water! Shower had a good water pressure and hot water, no problems with the bathroom. We had a small service dog with us and it was fine. The hotel has a rooftop bar with a nice view, good drinks and food, and they greet you with a free welcome cocktail! Downstairs in the courtyard is a small coffee shop and you can get snacks there. Overall, location was making up for everything! You don’t need a car because you can walk to everything, and if you need to go somewhere out of town, Uber is very cheap! We would def stay there again!

If you get lucky and get the balcony rooms you get to open up the doors to the balcony and let the fresh air in. These rooms have no AC. Rooms are hot,humid,stagnant no air circulation. There are these rooms that are the “basement rooms” now I know why they call them that form other reviews. Those are 4 concrete walls no windows. There plumbing is not the greatest and so all the sewage smell surrounds you. The shower heads are terrible they spray water everywhere but your body! I don’t think it’s too expensive to change them out. Bathrooms need much much upgrading as their ventilation for the rooms and an exhaust for the sewage smell. The Hotel itself is good the lobby, foyer it’s open in the middle so pretty. Even the rooftop is nice. But because of the rooms I will not be going back to it.

Beautiful Stay with some updates needed

The Selina Hotel is the perfect central location. The hotel and rooftop are gorgeous -- beautiful rooms, courtyard, terrace and delicious food and drinks. We received a complementary welcome drink on arrival which was very nice.

When I asked the front desk about valet, I was told they don't offer that service and she directed me to a parking lot on a close by street. That parking lot cost ~$100/day to park -- WAY too expensive. When we went back to the front desk and asked about this again, she said they do have a guy who can meet us to park the car and return it when needed for ~MX$800 for the weekend (much better). I wondered why this wasn't shared as an option upfront.

My only other qualms are that the shower did not work well - we were told to let it run for 15 min to get hot water, a waste of water and it didn't get that hot. Also the showerhead needed to be replaced or have a deep clean because it was spraying in every direction.

The toilet was not flushing well and discovered I had to turn the water on to flush properly until it stopped working again...

Lastly, the pillows were packed so tight, our necks were sore after the first night. We then discovered you could unfluff them a bit for a flatter more comfortable sleeping pillow.

It's an old building, so somethings are to be expected with plumbing but for such a nice hotel, these are small easy fixes with the shower, toilet, and pillows.

P.S. our room had a fan and wall AC unit

Stayed in the Deluxe room, which is specious, but very dark (no windows). Most rooms have no windows and therefore very dark. Style is minimalistic so it's not cozy dark. Bathroom and shower had a humidity smell with a hint of sewage. The hotel has a nice rooftop and perfect location, but i don't think I would stay here again.

Also, no parking near the property and price to park to an independent parking lot was $450 pesos per night.

Esta muy bonito y más la terraza y bar solo si recomiendo que las habitaciones que están en primer piso por Lavanderia retiren del paso todos los botes de basura que tiene hay al paso así como Lavanderia reubicada, ya que cuando vas a habitación como 051 pareciera que vas a un cuarto de servicio por todo lo que tiene a tu paso como los botes de basura y Lavanderia y un poco de más luz en habitaciones le caería muy bien . Todo lo demás excelente por eso es importante retiren y ubiquen lo citado para no darle mala imagen recordando que la primer imagine no se olvida.

We took a mini-vacay from our vacay and stayed one night at this hotel. The room was very small but we didn't mind as my husband and I only went to sleep and shower. The impression of the hotel itself was very beautiful as the courtyard was adorned with hanging plants and common spaces for relaxing. From the terrace and restaurant, you had a picturesque 360 view. You could see the cathedrals surrounding the area and all the colorful buildings. It was conveniently located around many shops, restaurants, and the plaza. The staff was pleasant.

The lamps on both night tables did not work. And on the third day, the toilet did not flush. Very disappointed with these accommodations.

Well located but could use some updating.j

The unit was okay. It needed a facelift and linens replaced.The staff especially Pedro were extremely pleasant and helpful. The pictures on hotels.com were probably old. To get to the lovely roof top patio it was a crazy climb through the cleaning staff’s area and up steep stairs. Parking cost a lot and it took anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes to get our car picked up or delivered. The location was really great.
