Hillcrest Mountain View Retreat is a hidden sanctuary. We hit the jackpot when we were searching for accommodation in the area to attend a wedding. Its location is nothing short of spectacular and the 360 views are breathtaking. Hosts Craig and Paul were so warm and welcoming, and a wealth of knowledge about the local area. Our room had such a comfortable bed with everything we needed and many more extras. The deck was made for unwinding with a daybed and hammock inviting you to linger and recharge, while absorbing Nature all around you. There was a lovely sitting room, dining area, a well-stocked library, and swimming pool (which we didn’t have time to swim in). It was therapy just being there, including the collection of art and artefacts. One of the highlights was breakfast, with a menu that you wanted to stay a week to sample chef Paul’s culinary delights.
As we’d only booked one night, leaving was hard, knowing there was so much more. However it gives us a reason to return because we left wanting more.

Paul and Craig were just wonderful hosts, the location was stunning and the accommodation was spacious, luxurious and supremely comfortable. Pauls food was brilliant. Great single night spent here for the Tyalgum Music Festival.

One of our best stays in Australia

We stopped here on our drive up the coast as a little pit stop and it ended up being one of our favourite spots! Craig and Paul were brilliant hosts and chefs, we were made to feel very welcome and we even extended our stay to enjoy the view, pool and food. We will be back!

Wonderful experience you won’t be disappointed

From the moment you arrive a sense of tranquility comes over you. Paul and Craig are the most wonderful hosts and greet you with a true warmth.
The location and views are breathtaking. You can do as much or as little as you want. Great bush walking country all around. But curling up on the daybed out side your room or in the pergola is the best thing…that is until dinner is served!!! Paul provides a fantastic selection for your 2 or 3 course meal. We had dinner both nights we were there and it was amazing. Craig provided simply outstanding service.
It’s dog friendly and has an incredibly large dog run.
Hillcrest Mountain View Retreat has it all don’t think twice book it now, you won’t be disappointed.

I took my partner here for his birthday and to have a quiet retreat for a few nights. We absolutely loved the place and most of all, Craig and Paul. I can’t recommend more, a stay at Hillcrest especially if you want to stay somewhere beautiful, comfortable and relaxing. And of course you should book a dining experience with the guys. The food was fabulous!

Retreat to Relax

A very relaxing overnight stay on my short Northern NSW exploration. Form the sumptuous verandah, and my room, gave great rural views, including bushland. My evening meal and breakfast were superb. Thoughtful hosts. I wished I could have stayed longer. I will, next visit.

Delightful retreat!

Craig and Paul have a lovely warm way of welcoming their guests. We enjoyed the ambiance of Hillcrest immensely. Dinner was superb as was the wine. Brekky in the morning was sumptuous. They balanced our privacy and their friendly service really well. The rooms are very well appointed and the veranda creates a lovely atmosphere. The surrounding views are stunning. Quiet and comfortable

Lovely secluded and quiet place where pets are welcome. Owners are very friendly and happy to allow our dog to play with theirs. Close to Murwillumbah but far enough away so that you don’t hear any traffic noise. This is our regular family getaway to unwind and relax.

Lovely country location with wonderful views

Intimate place with 3 rooms only. The location is very rural and yet not too far from Murwillumbah. The hosts are friendly and most helpful.They are used to international guests which shows the regard in which the place is viewed. Wonderful food, definitely a cut above places in town. Even the locals come for dinner!

If you are looking for a tranquil stay with fantastic 360 degrees views then look no further - Hillcrest Mountain View Retreat is the place! The perfect hosts Craig & Paul are there to make your stay memorable. My wife & I booked the retreat for our 29th wedding anniversary & were warmly welcomed by the hosts & our room upgraded. We took up the offer to have dinner at the retreat & we were not disappointed. Craig prepared a cosy candle lit dinner for two in front of the fireplace. Paul cooked a mouth watering three course dinner complete with a fine choice of wines. Again we were delighted with the choices on the menu. Breakfast was also a great experience and Paul's home made yoghurts, bread, jams, muesli apart from the main breakfast dishes were delicious. Well done to two perfect hosts! Perfect stay all round, location, food and things to do.

Can’t wait to return

Fantastic quiet getaway. Breakfast was included and supplies provided surpassed expectations. The wood fire with firewood and fire starters ensured a warm cabin. Spa bath so relaxing, even candles were placed strategically around the rooms. Our dog, Coco, was welcomed and enjoyed playing with the owner’s dogs. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening, superb flavours and freshly prepared. Gnocchi hand made. Paul is definitely passionate about his skills. He was friendly and happy to chat with us whilst cooking. A wonderful mid week break. Great value for money. Thank you :-)

Wonderful Hilltop Location

Guests have praised the place highly and with clear justification. The accommodation really has all you need to relax in peace and tranquillity. The hosts are most friendly and obliging. The meals are first class and professionally presented. The views from the verandah are stunning and Murwillumbah is only 5 minutes away.
