We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Stumbergers in Cochem. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and the service was excellent throughout our visit. Our mattresses were a bit soft/saggy, but that is a personal preference. Hotel staff, very friendly, accomodating and made us feel at home and welcome. On the Mosel River, the castle can be seen off in the distance.

Overnight stay exploring Cochem
Hotel Stumbergers was a simple and welcoming hotel. It is situated just outside the beautiful Mosel town of Cochem, within easy walking distance, but still allowing benefits like safe free parking. The owners were very helpful pointing out all of the amenities, recommending a local wine festival (which was great), and operating a nice beer garden too. Room was modern and no-frills but entirely sufficient for an overnight stay, the shower was very powerful. Breakfast was continental, and had plenty of choice with the offer of fresh eggs and coffee on demand! A fine place to spend the night exploring Cochem.

The hotel is completely inaccessible for anyone that is not able to carry bags up four flights of steep stairs. Further, the rooms are not functional, no coffee is provided as is the norm in this region. The owner told us breakfast (included) was only available after 730 after we told him we needed to leave to take the train at 730 when it was available at 7 (my mom noticed while our for a run ).

This family run hotel is excellent,the owners very polite & helpful. The hotel is ideally situated to walk into Cochem centre & has rail links to Koblenz. The breakfast is plentiful. Room was clean with on suite shower. Defiantly use again.

This hotel is very basic. Location is around 1km from centre of Cochem but it is a nice walk along the river. Our room had a balcony and had great water views and of the castle. Rooms were very basic. Wifi worked. Breakfast was simple but ok. For the price this hotel is fine. I did fine Cochem very touristy so next time I would only visit Cochem but stay in Ernst which is a beautiful village down the road or Bernkastel-Keus.

A lovely hotel situated just outside Cochem with plenty of parking. Our room had it’s own balcony overlooking the river and we could also see the castle. An excellent breakfast was included in the room price. It took us about 10 mins to walk into Cochem, such a beautiful place with lots to see and many restaurants. There was a wine festival with a live band and we were made to feel very welcome. We would highly recommend hotel Stumbergers.

Just a15 minute walk from the center of Cochem, this family run hotel was a perfect base for exploring the Moselle valley and Burg Eltz. Free parking and waterfront location were nice pluses.

Great for a Night
The best things about this hotel were the view of the Reichsburg castle from the room and the price. The location is about a 15-minute walk to the main little promenade and where the action is but we actually like that. The restaurant at the hotel is a beer house (bier Haus) style and it was a little overpriced for what dinner really was (a shrimp loaded potato for 15 The pillows were super soft as indicated by other reviews and the beds are not very comfortable, they are 2 single beds, which we hate, since my husband and I actually like each other and prefer not to be separated by these twin beds. The beds are also kind of hard and the bathroom is the normal European tight where you need to be careful not drop anything accidentally in the toilet or sink. Bring one of those toiletry bags that hang so that the small space does not impair your ability to expand the toiletries. We only stayed for a night so we still recommend it for a quick stop and for the price.

Proprietors were great, breakfast was a huge spread, incredible view of Cochem & the castle from my room. It is approximately one mile from the train station, so it would be best for folks who have a vehicle or like to walk. The bus does not run often.

Wonderful experience, accommodation was excellent with comfy beds in an adequately sized room with excellent natural light and ventilation. Typical German cleanliness was exceeded. The Restaurant was busy and with good reason, excellent freshly prepared Mexican style meals, very tasty and a welcome change from a Schnitzel.

We had a basic room but it was quite large. The pillows were covered fairy floss, but the view of the Mosel, and the Castle on the hill was fabulous, viewed from a large open-able window in our room. All very clean and the bathroom was nicely renovated. The shower was great. Breakfast was OK, the usual European Continental thing, but there's that view again. Probably the best on the Mosel.

We have been travelling around Germany for 14 days, staying primarily at b&b's, and honestly comparing Stumbergers to others, it rates on the lower end for overall value. The room itself was spartan and had a funky smell that we soon discovered came from the bathroom. It was puzzling because the room and bathroom were very clean. We were on the 2nd floor and noise from the restaurant, especially chairs being moved around traveled...so we slept only after closing time. The included breakfast was average compared to others we have had, but the eating room did have a wonderful view of the castle. For the euros charged, Stumbergers was 30 more than it was worth compared to other b&b's.

Stayed one night - no complaints at all. Hotel was clean, fairly comfortable, owner was friendly, there is a nice little beer garden restaurant, good breakfast included. Although it's right on the river, it's a bit of a walk to the main tourist area in town, but no problem at all if you have a car.

Decided last minute to go on a quick overnight and found this gem of a place. It was small, but that's very typical in Cochem. Beautiful views of the Mosel, extremely helpful staff and very clean. Only complaint was the listing said free internet. It was free, but for only 30 minutes a day and then you have to pay. Other than that, great place and would recommend it!

Everything at this hotel was clean! Negative? The room was small, but the evenings on the balcony with the view of the Mosel - WOWl The staff, and the owners were wonderful! We found that most of the staff spoke English which helped as my ability to retain enough Deutsch is limited. Limited to a few words, but enough to order and enjoy the food and beverages on their diverse menu.

Das Hotel ist ein wenig außerhalb des Stadtkerns gelegen, trotzdem ist die Stadt fußläufig gut zu erreichen über einen schönen Weg an der Mosel entlang. Die Aussicht von den hoteleigenen Balkonen auf Burg und Mosel ist sehr schön. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig. Freundlichkeit und Service sind ebenfalls hervorzuheben. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt.

Arrival ok, shown room , second floor under roof, 28 degrees. Asked proprietor for a ventilator, he said he lived in the house and he did not have any ventilator. We kregen het huisje toegewezen. Wat erg schoon was. De matrassen mogen wel wat dikker de kussens waren een beetje aan de slappe kant. Het was er ook koud. Moeilijk warm te krijgen. Het is wel iets meer lopen naar het centrum dan die 10 min dat vermeld staat. Maar de bus stopt daar ook voor de deur. Al met al een super mooie locatie waar wij zeker een keer terug zullen gaan.

Es war ein schönes modernisiertes kleines Hotel. Unser Zimmer(Nr.6) war gross, hatte einen kleinen Balkon, einen großen Flachbildfernseher aber leider keinen Moselblick und keine Rolos. Der Frühstücksraum war sehr schön mit einer riesen Glassfront. Das Frühstück war gut, der Kaffee spitze!

Den Aufenhalt sehen wir leider zwiespältig: einerseits sehr freundliche Gastgeber und eine gute Bewirtung, andererseits sehr beengte Verhältnisse im Zimmer: unser Zimmer Nr. 9 ist etwa 10qm groß, das Badezimmer lediglich 2qm - dazu noch ein schmales Bett. Das wird dem Preis von 115,- Euro nicht gerecht. Das Essen im Restaurant und beim Frühstücksbuffet dagegen ist sehr empfehlenswert - dazu ein sehr freundlicher Gastgeber.

Der Service war nett und freundlich. Das Frühstück hat alles geboten. Leider war der Checkout mit 10:00 sehr früh, und das Hotel war im Preis -Leistungsverhältnis recht teuer. Schön, dass ein kleines Balkon dabei war...ein bisschen renovierungsbedürftig,aber ok für einen Kurzurlaub.
