This was one my favourite places I stayed in Japan. Great location close to the train station, buses and the ferry port. All staff members were lovely and helped me plan my trip to Naoshima and Teshima islands as well as recommended places to eat in Tamano. I liked the style of the room and the whole place was really cosy. The breakfast was fresh and delicious.

I highly recommend Uno Port Inn. The location is great - 2 minute walk from the station and 2 minute walk to the ferry. The rooms are simple but clean and very comfortable. The breakfast each morning was delicious and set us up for a day of exploring the art islands. However it is the staff that make Uno Port Inn so great. They are fantastic - super friendly and helpful and gave us great tips for exploring the art islands. All the staff are great but Momo and Long in particular provided us with outstanding service. Will definitely be returning and also recommending to our friends.

Funky, laid back spot right across the street from the ferry dock. Wonderful service, fluent in English. Great bagels in the mornings! Quality jazz selections animated our entire stay. Definitely a modest place but you wint regret staying here.

We had a great experience staying here - the staff were warm and friendly, and the location could not be better.

The only thing to take note is that if you check in late (after 9pm), there is a late charge. We actually arrived at 11am to drop off our bags and asked if we can check in then so we didn't have to pay the late charge. We informed them we didn't need to access the rooms until later but just wanted to check in at that time but they were not able to accommodate us (not totally sure why?). Unfortunate but just take note before you book because this is not characteristic of other hotels!

The staff spoke excellent English and they were super friendly. They went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and assist with anything you might need. The only downside really was the poor wi-fi speed/connection. It was really slow. But otherwise, I loved staying here and would come again if I ever visit the islands.

We stayed here after a day trip to Naoshima island by ferry. The proprieter was very welcoming and helpful. The room was very small and had a private bathroom at the end of the hall, with its own key. Very close by is the wonderful Setouchi Onsen Tamano-yu that has extensive indoor and outdoor baths and a good restaurant.

Charming 10 room Japanese style (no shoes) inn run by Vietnamese owner - he made our lattes himself - just minutes walk from the ferry line to Naoshima Island. Staff spoke English very well and referred us to 2 terrific local eateries and a public onsen down the street that we thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast was included and terrific! Highly recommend for those looking for inexpensive, friendly and small scale.

Port Uno Inn is a cool, down-to-earth spot perfect for travelers heading to Naoshima. The vibe is super chill, with a casual, backpacker feel. After a day of exploring, grabbing a beer and burger here is just what you need. Plus, almost everyone staying here is going to Naoshima, so it’s easy to swap tips and chat about the galleries.

The location is ideal, right across from the ferry terminal, and the laundry facilities are a great bonus for longer trips. Ming, Long, and Takashi, who work there, are fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help.

The breakfast is also worth mentioning—I loved the smoked salmon bagel. If you’re looking for a relaxed, friendly base to explore the area, this place is perfect.

Uno Port was great. A cute hotel right across the street from the port with the ferry that takes you to Naoshima Island. The owner Max and his staff were kind, friendly, accommodating, and professional. Me and my partner would stay here again in a heartbeat. I also recommend getting the breakfast included option as breakfast was also delicious both times we had it there during our stay. Thank you Max and staff!

Made us feel so welcome!

This little hotel is right across from the ferry terminal and was a fantastic spot to spend a night. The rooms are not luxurious but the bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent, and the care and attention of the owner and staff was incredible. We were given a useful guide to restaurants in Uno and to the art island of Naoshima which was our reason for visiting, and everyone genuinely cared that we had a good time and everything was OK. Highly recommended!

Had a great experience here. Max is very knowledgeable about the area and gives useful advice - and he makes a great flat white! The Inn is closed for general public in terms of coffees and the restaurant is not working due to Covid situation but there are eating places close by. Location excellent for train and ferry. We had a traditional room and the beds were about the comfiest we have had in 2.5 weeks in Japan. bathrooms although not shared are down the hall from your room. Overall good value for money. I would recommend as a good place before and after seeing the Art islands.

Stay at the Port Uno Inn

When you first walk in you are seated in their cafe and given a full run down of the area and the what there is to do on the nearby islands.

Max and the others are incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in your travels and how they can help you out. I really appreciated all their effort and kindness.

ALSO breakfast is a must. They make the best breakfast sandwiches.

The location is right next to Uno station and all the ferry terminals. There's a 7/11 next door also.

It was a very good experience from the beginning!
The owner, Max, is so kind and he made me feel more comfortable in my stay, he is always checking if you're having a great time.
The conditions of the room and bath were perfect!
Everything cleaned and working, I had my own bathroom so I did not have to hurry because other people were waiting or checking if the shower was available, I had all the privacy that I wanted at a just the price!
Really worth it! Definently I'll come back.
The Uno Ferry port is just crossing the street, very convenient location.

Great staff at the Inn. Their breakfast option is well priced, and they are very knowledgeable about Teshima and Noashima islands. We were able to get suggestions for places to eat nearby. Private bathrooms and comfortable beds. I am 6'2 and managed to bang my head a few times on the low doorways, but aside from that they place is great!

This is an economical place to stay when visiting the art islands. It is right across the street from the ferry boats, and the owner was super helpful explaining the logistics of visiting the islands and what we should expect see. Because it is a small port town, there are few eating establishments but enough to find something for a couple of nights.

As advertised. Steps from the train station and from the ferries to teshmina and Naoshima. Great little cafe and rooms are just what you need basic and clean. Max is friendly and super cool as is Kae and the the others there. A few restaurants around the block, 7/11 next door. Ideally a bathroom in the bedroom is best but it is your own private bathroom down the hall with your key if you take that option. Loved the whole vibe. It’s not the Four Seasons but it’s not a youth hostel either. And met some great people in the cafe. Definitely prefer over more expensive options on Naoshima.

Our room was closest to the communal dining area, and unfortunately there were some inconsiderate, very loud guests.
We did not eat at Uno Port Inn but saw some other peoples' dishes which looked very good, fresh, and generous portions - we wished we had eaten there!

This is a special place, it is excellent. It’s a perfect option to see Naoshima and other islands. The ferry is literary steps away. Everyone speaks perfect English and are very nice. The café on the property is great. Traditional rooms are great. Each room has its own bathroom but detached – a few steps away in the corridor. This feels like a hipster place in Manhattan. Recommend highly. Also the most convenient for traveling to this area. Take a train from anywhere in Japan to Uno port and this hotel is right there in the morning take a ferry to the island of your choice.

We had a nice experience at Port Uno. Ferry and hot springs are across the street from hotel. Staff is great. This is not a 5 star hotel. If that is what you want, you will pick it apart. But if you are looking for a simple, rustic, clean, safe place to stay for a day or two, Port Uno will be fine. Bathroom-shower is separate from your room, but they are just down the hall and you have your own private facilities with a key to get in. We had 4 of us in one room with individual Japanese futons. No complaints from anyone. There was room for our many suitcases. Simple cafe on site. We would return without hesitation.

Uno Port Inn is a hidden gem

Uno Port is a hidden gem of Japan and Uno Port Inn is a big part of that! Totally serious--my husband and I didn't expect much when we rolled in, we just needed a place to crash for two nights while we explored the art islands. All the staff at UPI were extremely friendly, incredibly helpful with making recommendations for the islands and providing maps and ferry timetables, plus their food is delicious and coffee top notch. The rooms are small but cozy and exactly what you need. Bathrooms are separate but are actually private--you get a key to your own bathroom down the hall. Make sure to go to the onsen near the port, it's spectacular, and eat at Uno Shokudo, an izakaya up the street. It was one of the best meals we had the whole trip.

Awesome, exceptionally friendly “funky” little Inn with knowledgeable staff. So conveniently located, directedly across the road from the Port for the boats to all islands and around the corner from the train station. Recommended & enjoyed a communal delicious restaurant around the corner-Odessa-ya-hope name is correct!! A unique, “best coffee in Japan”, coffee wagon created by Max, the engaging, enthusiastic owner is a gift to the traveller. Healthy, gluten free baked goods & delicious indoor & outdoor cafe within the inn is relaxing & lovely. Very accommodating. Highly recommend!

Great spot if you’re traveling to Naoshima, Teshima. The staff provided indications on how to get to the islands, even reminded us of our ferry departures so we wouldn’t miss them. They offer a breakfast for a small price, totally worthy, tasty egg&bacon sandwich, kiwi/apple parfait + drink.

This has the best location if you’re planning to go to Naoshima and Teshima. That’s because it’s a two minute walk to both the ferry and passenger boat to get to the islands. It’s also a two minute walk from the Uno JR train. A plus if you have a large suitcase and don’t want to drag it to the island. It’s not a fancy place. Very modest. You have to walk into the hallway to get to your personal bathroom. But you’re spending all of the time on the islands! The staff is so friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Little Inn in great location.

Stayed one night on our way to Naoshima island. Inn is in a most convenient location close to train station and ferry dock. Staff are very helpful, friendly and speak English to boot! Plus great vibe: warm, relaxed and friendly!
Extremely clean room and bathroom. Hotel has a cafe with limited, but delicious menu. I recommend this place And will stay here on my next trip to the area.

Great place to stay when visiting the art islands of Naoshima and Teshima. The staff are very friendly and speak excellent English. They also provide excellent advice on planning out your day and accessing the Islands. No Tv and limited breakfast options were the only down sides to this hotel. I would highly recommend staying two nights as each Island takes a full day.

We stayed 2 nights to head out to Naoshima and Teshima. Room was nice, the place and staff are super cool.

Would definitely recommend staying a couple of nights to see plenty of the islands. There's not much in Uno, but a couple of good local food places nearby and it was perfect to settle there before getting to the islands early before the crowds.

Great location and very friendly staff who all can speak English fluently. The accommodation is basic but very comfortable and you have your own en suite, although it is down the hall. Great value.The breakfast was superb and Ideal location if you wish to visit Naoshima Island- The art Island which is brilliant, Friends stayed on the Island but could not get off due to heavy fog for 3 hour as the Ferry service was cancelled.Only 20 minutes by Ferry and costs included with JR Pass. The coffee is absolutely superb by Max.

Convenient place to stay to access Naoshima

UNO Port Inn was perfect for us as we were coming in late to uno and leaving early in the morning to take the ferry to Naoshima. The hotel is clean, comfortable and very welcoming. The ¥600 breakfast was the best breakfast we've had in Japan - if not the best bacon and egg roll I've ever tasted! I think I'll go back just for the breakfast. The only down side was they charged a fee for checking in late, which seemed a bit steep at ¥1500 per hour.

Amazing staff! Super friendly and offered a very warm welcome. They provided so much helpful information for us with ferry schedules and maps of Naoshima & Teshima plus extra information about local restaurants nearby which were fantastic.
The location is extremely convenient to the ferries and also for the train (we came on the Shinkansen from Tokyo.)
The hotel is very clean and the cafe at Uno Port Inn has amazing coffee, which is a huge plus in my book.

El hotel pequeño y muy agradable con pocas habitaciones, todas ellas con el nombre de algún director de cine clásico japonés. Nos hospedamos tres personas y aunque un poco pequeña, la decoración al estilo japonés nos resultó muy agradable.
Volvería a hospedarme en ese lugar sin dudarlo.

Excellent accueil de Long, le propriétaire de l'hôtel. Check-in rapide et efficace, mais aussi explications intéressantes sur Uno et Naoshima.
La chambre est petite, mais très propre.
Le petit déjeuner est copieux et sa présentation très originale.
L'hôtel est idéalement situé à 3 minutes à pied de la gare, et tout aussi près du terminal des ferries pour Naoshima.
Long a été tres attentif à notre bien-être pendant notre court séjour. Merci à lui !
Un onsen particulièrement agréable se trouve à 10 minutes à pied de l'hôtel.
Très belle adresse pour la découverte de Naoshima !

映画好きのあなたにオススメ

通路に暗幕があり、最初は怪しい雰囲気でした。が、よく見ると各部屋に映画監督の名前がつけられており、ホテル全体が映画館を、各部屋がその監督の作品を思わせる凝った作りであるとわかりました（オーナーさんの趣味とのこと）。そう理解できたら感心し、楽しめました。バスルームはシャワーのお湯がリッチで快適。部屋のカビ臭さだけが少々残念でした。

Luxury hostel

Stayed here with wife and two kids. Our room was very nice and clean, and staff was really friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was delicious. I'd just point out that, given that the bathrooms are located outside the rooms (each room gets its own private bathroom, but they're all down the hall), it feels more like a hostel than a hotel, so keep that in mind.

トイレの鍵と部屋の鍵がなかなか閉まらず苦労しました。そこは改善してほしい点ですが、朝食はとても美味しかったし、スタッフはフレンドリーでした。鍵の件以外は快適に過ごせました。

Hôtel qui ne mérite pas sa note.
Notre chambre n’avait pas de salle de bain dans la chambre mais dans un couloir. La pièce était minuscule, fenêtre très petite. Cloisons extrêmement peu épaisses. Pour le prix c’est à éviter. Ce serait bien de spécifier beaucoup plus clairement l’absence de salle de bain dans la chambre sur le site, cela permettrait de faire un meilleur choix.

Liten pärla med perfekt läge till Naoshima

Underbart litet hotell! Små rum men med egen fräsch dusch/toalett i korridoren.Fantastisk personal och perfekt läge för besök med båt till bl a Naoshima. Budgetfrukosten var jättegod. Rekommenderar absolut detta hotell, väldigt prisvärt.
