Self-check in was easy and allowed for flexible arrival time. The room was plenty sufficient for my husband and me in the big bed and 2 sons (ages 17 and 12) in the bunk beds. The two restroom facilities downstairs were clean and well-maintained. The kitchen was well-stocked, and we appreciated the instant coffee. The area around the hotel felt safe and was near a fuel station and restaurants.

Out of all the places I stayed during my 10-day trip, this was by far the one I was most satisfied with. The room was clean and tidy, with no unpleasant odors, and the location was great — very convenient for shopping. I had an excellent stay and would highly recommend this place.

The bathrooms are very clean and spacious. The common area/kitchen is large and very nice!
We stayed in the junior double room. I know from the pictures it looks very small but I wasn’t expecting to hardly be able to walk around in it. Once our suitcases were in, we hardly had any room to walk around the bed. We were only staying one night and didn’t spend a lot of time in the room so I wasn’t a big deal but if you’re staying longer, definitely get a bigger room.

We were given instructions on self-check in even when we arrived early. The whole guesthouse is cozy, clean & neat. It is 5 min walk to the grocery store. Shared bathroom is clean. Beddings are in good condition ( firm mattress & good duvet ) The downside is noise disturbance. We can hear the door opening /closing & footsteps to the washroom.

I really liked this place. The employees were helpful and friendly. They have a bonus nearby if you want to buy some food for the mornings or nights when everything is closed. They have kitchen to make food even when it is closed. The showers and bathrooms are separated from the actual bedrooms which is fine. I had a good experience.

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at Hotel Lyngás. The outside of the building is unassuming but the inside is immaculate and well kept. The kitchen and shared dining area were well kept. Our room size was smaller but more than enough for the two of us. There isn't necessarily someone at the front desk at all times but that wasn't an issue for us. All necessary information was provided to us at check-in. There are a few good restaurants nearby - all within walking distance.

The facility was clean and the key locks so we could arrive whenever we chose were great. The only problem was that the shower handle was cracked so it wouldn’t “stay”, which was challenging since there was no shower tray to put soap in.

This is a fantastic place to stay, especially if you’re on a budget. This is terrific value for the quality. The room we had was small but perfectly adequate, the shared bath, kitchen and common areas were great. I would recommend it without reservation and would stay again.

Great stay at Lyngas Guesthouse. We had a family room for 5 people and we were impressed with the property. It was very clean. Upstairs they had two showers for 8 rooms. The beds were comfortable. The shared kitchen was well stocked. Lots of food and restaurants nearby. We had the staff do a load of laundry ($24 USD) and it was delivered to our room the next morning. My only complaint is our room had a bank of windows which got really warm when the sun shined in, but the guesthouse gave us a fan which helped cool things a little. Overall, a great stay - Highly recommend.

The hotel was very nice and super clean and comfortable. The breakfast is wonderful as is the 24 hours coffee. The ladies working there were very professional, pleasant and helpful. The bathroom was updated and great water pressure. Parking is free right in front. I highly recommend!

The room was very roomy and the beds were extremely comfortable. The guesthouse was very clean and the amenities were great. There is a great diner and two gas stations immediately across the street so it was a great location. Would definitely recommend staying there if you are in the Egilsstadir area.

The common areas are great, very clean and spacious. However our room was very small, so small we had difficulty finding space to open two medium sized suitcases! You virtually get a bed and nothing else, not even a TV and there wasn’t a TV in the common area either. My husband almost had a coronary as the World Cup was on!
The outside looks shoddy. Definitely needs a clean up. Fortunately the inside is much better cared for!

Nice guesthouse. Clean and quiet. We arrived quite late at night due to the weather and were able to call and check in without any problems. Very friendly staff. Common areas were really nice, but hoped the showers and toilets were private and in the rooms. The rooms and beds were clean but wish the beds were a bit more comfy. Easy to get to and near restaurants and grocery stores.

Pros: The guesthouse is in great walking out the town. There is a nice living area to relax in and the staff was pleasant.

Cons: I had to pay an unexpected \"town tax\" when I arrived. It wasnt expensive, but it was a little frustrating to not have that included. The oven/stove was broken during our stay, so we weren't able to cook anything. I also requested a 2 twin room and we didn't get that which was a little unfortunate.

Nice facility but not sound proof

When we went to the hotel, we weren't really impressed by the outside appearance but the inside of the hotel was actually quite nice and modern looking. The rooms and facilities were pretty clean. The thing we didn't like was that our room was so close to the living/sharing space that it was so loud, we could hear every conversation and noise outside the room. There were also a large travel group that used the kitchen for 2h (I think they were cooking for their entire 10 people!) and were very inconsiderate in the morning as they started chatting really loudly at the dining area around 6am. Also even though there were two showers and two toilets, I constantly had to wait in line or fight to get in because they were shared between 16 guests it seemed like. The room we had was also very small and the bed wasn't comfortable. Other than being able to mingle with some of the other traveller guests, we didn't have a good rest at all because of the amount of noise by the other large group.

This stay was only to split up our long drive. Definitely one of the cleanest places of our stay in Iceland. Easy check in. I have seen other reviews.. You can't judge a book by its cover. This place does look a bit plain from the outside but it is in fact very modern looking inside. Very nice and clean. It was definitely a popular place.
