Although the room was okay: clean but very small bed for one person. The property closed the lobby door from 23 to 7 o clock. If you’re happen to step outside there is no way to walk inside the hotel. There is a sign hanging with a phone number to call. However, when you call there is no signal and nothing happens. I was stuck outside because I needed to step out for a fresh air and could not come in back. Luckily, someone walked out and I was able to get inside. There are no magnetic keys. They give you an old fashion key for the room, but not for the lobby entrance.
There was no fridge and the bed was not. Eye comfortable and very small.
Breakfast was delicious and very good.

Ok for price. Basic hotel but clean and quiet. Our room was large with an upstairs. Some floors are harder to access with suitcase as the lifts don’t go to the 1/2 floors but it’s not impossible. You will need a sleep mask in the summer as the curtains do not block out light

We had a double story room that was very spacious. It is a school in the winter and a hotel in the summer so it is very well equipped and spacious. Our room was clean and roomy and the hotel itself was immaculate. It’s in a great location with lots to do nearby. Staff greeted us upon arrival and when screeching out and were very friendly.

This is a good hotel that other than in the summer, is a dorm for the nearby junior college. Thus every room is set up like a dorm with desks, beds and lots of storage space. We had a triple room which was two levels, which is cool, but the upper level which had the double bed, was accessed with only a very narrow spiral staircase. Bathroom was on the first floor of the room. Since it is a dorm there were several nice public places on each floor with couches etc. Breakfast was very good. The lead picture for the hotel is for the city pool, which is across the street.

In Expedia it said the breakfast was included
When checking in, the clerk said it was not.
If I wanted I had to pay for it, over 22 dollars per person.

Not the best place to stay, the building in general has a smell…. Seems that used to be an hospital or maybe a senior care facility.
Bathroom wasn’t great, not very clean
I won’t recommend it if you have other options

I misunderstood what was meant by private bathrooms, when I booked - this is rooms with a sink, but showers and toilets are shared (each has its own locking door.) Everything was clean and worked out great.

It's a dated hotel. Room was not very clean and we can see dust everywhere. Hotel did not provide any toiletries. Pictures are misleading. Expedia pictures shows a pool, however there are no pools in this hotel. Also, rooms are not as nice as in these pictures.

The drawbacks of this hotel have been well documented in other reviews. It is not the kind of place where you would want to spend a week, being quite Spartan, but if , like me, you want a cheap place for a good nights sleep it is perfectly adequate. Easily walkable from the airport along a flat tarmaced path, so save yourself the taxi fare.

It was close to market area few minutes away. Plenty of parking lots were avaliable. Property was average clean. I think the nightly rate was hiked due to snow storm & hurricane conditions. All roads for going out of town were closed due to severe weather conditions & people were in the town.

Bare Bones, Unfriendly Check In

As others have stated this is a school dorm used as a “hotel” in the summer. Good concept, but have low expectations so as not to be disappointed. Literally, 2 beds, 2 beside tables, a desk and tiny bathroom. If you’re planning on sleeping and leaving first thing it will meet your needs. I wouldn’t spend any more time there. The check-in clerk was unfriendly and uninterested. He clearly wanted to be anywhere but at the front desk. Not a great first impression.

Awkward old dorm, expensive for what it is

I found this hotel to be very awkward. From parking far away from reception, to not being able to find our room on the \"second floor\" (because we went to the second floor, all the way to the end of the hallway, and then had to go up another half a flight of stairs, so it was like it was on the 2.5 floor). It was a converted dorm and felt very much like it. No TV in the room, but there was a common area on the floor. As we had a room for three people, there was a loft area with single beds and a very small winding staircase that blocked the foot of the bed. The room was cramped in part because of the staircase, and the loft situation wasn't ideal for us with a small child. Small bathroom, very few plugs, and the worst sin of all in summer in Iceland.... the curtains did not darken the room at all. So basically it was light in the room all night... also not ideal for traveling with a small child. It was pretty pricey for what it was, but I suppose that's the norm in Iceland.

Clean spacious room, good breakfast & service

We booked a triple room for 2 adults, 1 child. There was plenty of space upstairs, however the stairs are too narrow to take any luggage. There is no TV or kettle or coffee maker in the room. Breakfast has plenty of options, as well as a great espresso/hot chocolate machine. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Clean and ok to just get some sleep

The hotel is absolutely fine but was overpriced hence the review is lower than what it would be if i had paid say 30% less. We found that during peak summer booking last minute would have been much cheaper in hindsight. Advance booking was counterintuitively very expensive. The hotel is not walking distance to \"town center\" but is otherwise ok. Does the job i.e. clean and you can get some sleep.

We stayed here one night. The breakfast was probably the best we had during our trip with plenty of variety. The hotel is a little way down a street but had a good view over the lake. The curtains did not quite blackout the room but we had no trouble sleeping anyway. Staff nice and helpful. Overall a very pleasant stay

The staffs were really friendly and helpful. the neighborhood was quiet with free parking! Breakfast spread was good! Room was spacious and clean and had an interesting concept - mine was double floored! However, wifi for the the second floor was weaker but it didn't really matter as we were all tired out after a long drive!

Bit overpriced, but good breakfast and comfy beds

Egilsstadir is a good backup option for staying in the Eastfjords region if you cannot find anything in Seyðisfjörður. Given that there is not much to see and do around the hotel, the price for the overnight stay seems a bit too much. Their breakfast is good though but still does not justify the price. The staff is pleasing. There is a small play area on the main level which my 6-year old really enjoyed. The beds and linens are clean and comfy, but the bathroom is really small and inconvenient to take a proper shower. The upper level in the family room that we had was really nice and kids enjoyed having the space to themselves.

Staff was great, very friendly. Room was nice, beds comfortable. Only negative was the shower. Tiny cube, and head sprays randomly in every direction. No way to adjust it or stand clear to lather up. Have to turn it off, then readjust the hot and cold faucets. Seems like an easy fix .

Great staff welcomed us and were very kind in giving us recommendations for places to eat since we checked in late. Room felt a bit dated but we also learnt that it was an old dorm which had some very interesting history. That being said the bathroom was extremely small but all in all our stay was pleasant. My son loved having his own top floor and bed as his own room which made it all worthwhile.

very poor rooms

This hotel has simply awful rooms. hotel. They are so austere they have no bed side lamps. Of course no television. The bathroom amenities consist of a small pouch (shampoo) and a tacky bottle of liquid soap. Soap holder in the shower was rusted. Toilet paper and tissues are very poor quality (I did not know such poor quality could be manufactured). We were there in June (24 hr sunlight) – the curtains did not close fully and were see through material. The room walls are very thin, you can hear every noise from the rooms next to you. The beds are like hummocks and sag terribly to the middle. Room lay out is very constricted – you cannot get to the bathroom from one side of the bed. We had an electric water jug in the room – but no mugs, or tea/coffee.
The remote control to the communal TV had been lost for some time, but not replaced.
Cost is Euro 240/night – breakfast not included. Takes gouging of tourists to a whole new level.

Spacious quadruple room for family. My kids are enthusiastic about two story quadruple room. This hotel is a school dormitory and used for hotel during summer. It is why rooms don't have TV or phone. Staffs are very friendly. The room is very clean. It may be because my family is the first guest of the room. Considering its low price, it is an excellent deal.

Conveniently located off Hwy 1. Room was clean and open. Our room had its own bathroom but I am not sure if all of them do or not. Only thing we wished the room had was a small refrigerator and microwave.

Very good hotel in Eglisstadir

We stayed in this hotel for just 1 night, but it was really good experience. The room was spacious to accommodate 3 of us, clean, with good beds and beddings. The staff was helpfull, they provided maps, and answered our inquiry about surroundings. The lady in reception even suggested me the place where I can buy new snikeres (my old ones were destroyed within 1 day in Iceland). Overall, we suggest this hotel to other travelers passing this area.

It was easy to find and check in, stairs to the upper floors. We had a private bedroom and bathroom with blackout curtains. Water is soring fed and safe to drink from the tap and I didn't have any issue with the hot tap, using it to shower and make tea, though don't be surprised by the sulfurous odor. Overall cute and I liked the town.
